Summary: After running away from a world that doesn't need her, Luz found herself in a realm that needed help from an ancient threat. Now she's the protector of the Demon Realm and she will protect it until her last breath.

They landed in the next dimension and looked around.
"Okay, I don't see anything yet." Fighter said.
"I do... this Luz has a statue." Phoenix said.
The flame haired girl pointed to said statue as Fighter Luz's jaw dropped, actually seeing a large stone version of them in the middle of town!
"Holy shit, she must be pretty popular." Fighter said, "Alright, hoods up."
Phoenix looked confused at this for a moment before she looked over herself, seeing she still had the cloak she got from the last universe.
'Oh, almost forgot I had this.' She thought as she quickly out the cloak hood over her head.
The two went through the town, wondering where Athena would show up. Or to find the Luz of this universe before Athena did something bad. Though they had to wonder just how this Luz became a big enough hero to get her own statue. Suddenly there was screaming, and Phoenix and Fighter looked over and saw people screaming as several Husks charged.
"Same old song, let's go!" Fighter Luz said, cracking her knuckles.
"Gladly." Phoenix said as she held her hands up, summoning fire to her hands.
Before they could stop the Husks, Athena appeared in front of them and knocked them back.
"No, I don't think you'll be stopping them this time."
"Ugh! I'm gonna beat your damn head in!" Fighter Luz said as she got up, making ice gauntlets.
"Good." Athena said with a smirk.
Athena raised her axe, only for a large wall of rock hit her.
"Ugh!" She let out in pain!
Fighter Luz and Phoenix were shocked by this, seeing what appeared to be construction magic just save them.
"I don't know who you are, but I don't appreciate you messing with the world I protect." A familiar voice said.
Everyone who was running stopped for a moment and looked to the voice, suddenly cheering as their savior had arrived!
"It's her!"
"The avatar is here!"
"We're saved!"
Athena got up and looked at her.
"Alright, lets see what you can do."
Athena charged and Avatar Luz, who simply smiled.
"Okay, this should be fun." Avatar Luz said.
She made a circle with her feet and sent a gust of wind around her, knocking Athena back.
'Air? But she didn't use any magic!' Athena thought in surprise as Fighter and Phoenix was just as surprised.
'Does she have a glyph on her shoe?' They thought.
Avatar Luz ran at her, before jumping and doing a flip in air, slamming her foot on the ground with a stream of blue fire coming from her foot.
Athena spun her axe to block the fire but felt it's heat.
'Air and fire?' She thought.
Avatar Luz smiled and slammed her hands into the ground, causing large cracks. She moved her hands up, shaking the ground near Athena and making her fall over.
'Earth, air, and fire? That was all her?!' Athena thought as she noticed this Luz's ears, ROUND ears! 'But she's human!'
She wasn't done though, as she moved her hands and gathered water from the nearby fountain. She shot the water at Athena, covering her with water.
"Really? Making me wet is that big play?"
"No." Avatar Luz said, holding up two fingers, "This is."
She moved her hands and sparks began to generate.
"Lightning too?!" Fighter and Phoenix said in shock!
What the hell kind of universe is this?!' They thought of their alternate self.
Avatar Luz shot the bolt at Athena, which hurt even worse due to the water.
"Ugh!" Athena groaned in pain as the metal of her armor wasn't helping either!
Athena looked up.
"What are you?" Athena asked.
"I am Avatar Luz, master of the four elements." Avatar Luz said.
"The avatar?" Athena asked, on one knee.
"The avatar?" Fighter Luz and Phoenix asked as they got a bit closer.
"That's right, and I am going to make sure you don't hurt anyone." Avatar Luz said.
Avatar Luz turned around, seeing two copies of herself and was very shocked by this but held it in.
'I'll deal with this later. This woman comes first.' She thought before turning back to Athena.
"Call off your minion, now. Or else this won't be pretty for you." Avatar Luz said.
"Are you threatening me?" Athena asked.
"No, it's a promise."
Athena chuckled at this as she shook her head.
"Okay, I'll call them off." Athena said as she held up her hand, ready to snap her fingers.
"Wait, no!" Phoenix shouted!
Phoenix moved fast and grabbed Athena's hand.
"Nice try." Athena said before snapping her other hand, forming a shadow portal and summoning husks around them!
"Damn it!" Fighter said, "Should've known she would pull that trick."
The trio of Luz moved to fight the husk as Athena slipped away, planning her next step.
"Get behind me." Avatar Luz said.
She got in front of Phoenix and Fighter and closed her eyes. She then opened the and they were glowing white. The air around them began to build as Avatar Luz began to float and glare at the shadow creatures. Two light glyphs formed on her palms and she slammed her hands together, making a bright flash that made the husks disintegrate. Fighter and Phoenix had to cover their eyes from the flash, the wind kicking up as well as the shadow monsters screeched in pain as they died! Her eyes stopped glowing and Avatar Luz looked at her doppelgangers.
"Okay, let's get to my house and talk."
"Okay…but don't you have any questions for what just happened?" Phoenix asked her.
"Oh yes, several." Avatar Luz said to them. "That's why we're going to my house. Now follow me."
Looking at each other, the two shrugged to each other before following the "Avatar" version of themselves through Bonesborough.
'I'll have to ask her about that title later.' They both thought as people began fixing up the damage caused by the husks.
She brought them down a familiar path, where a familiar house was.
"Well, welcome to my house." Avatar Luz said.
"It's... the Owl House."
"Yeah it is. Where else would I call home?" Avatar Luz asked them.
"I don't know, maybe Earth?" Fighter Luz asked with a raised brow.
"I'm... not needed there." Avatar Luz said.
"What? What about mom? Doesn't she need you?" Fighter Luz asked.
"No but she understands. You see in my world, everyone has the ability to wield one of the four elements. Fire, earth, water, and air. There are sub elements but those are the main four. The avatar is the only one that can wield all the elements and maintain balance between the human world and the spirit world. But, as time went on and society evolved, the avatar wasn't needed in the human world anymore to keep balance. This world needed me though, I managed to save it from an evil person that wanted to destroy everything." Avatar Luz said, picking up Eda's staff, "Still... I lost more than I would've wanted to."
"You…..You mean?" Phoenix asked, pointing to the staff.
Avatar Luz could only nod as she held the staff tighter.
"And King? Is he gone too?" Fighter Luz asked, looking around for him.
"He's still here, he's just on a mission with Lilith right now." Avatar Luz said, "He's trying to find the truth of where he came from."
"So it's just you here? All alone?" Phoenix asked.
"No, Amity stays here with me." Avatar Luz said, "But, she's busy at the moment. She's dealing with Demon stuff with Boscha... oh, speaking of Demons, I should show you Alexandra and her hatchling."
"Alexandra?" They asked, confused on her that is.
"She's my unique pet ally, it's an unspoken rule that every avatar has one to be both their friend and their ally in battle." Avatar Luz said as she began leading them to Alexandra. "Avatar Roku had a dragon, Avatar Aang had a flying bison AND flying lemur, Avatar Korra had a polar bear dog, etc."
"A dragon, flying bison, flying lemur, polar bear dog?! What sort of crazy world is your Earth?" Phoenix asked in surprise.
"Yeah, those sound like Boiling Isles animals." Fighter Luz said.
"Well, instead of extinct animals, I have a demon." Avatar Luz said.
Avatar Luz led them to a room in the owl house, opening the door and showing them the demonic animal. It was long, quadrupedal demon, with black scales, four eyes, and a long tail, along with a long mouth filled with hundreds of sharp teeth. Next to her was a small baby version with white scales that were slowly beginning to change color.
"Holy shit!/Oh my god!" Fighter Luz and Phoenix said, in awe of the unique beast.
"I know, she's quite the demon." Avatar Luz said with a nod, "She saved my life... one of them anyway. I wouldn't be here without her."
"And she's stayed by your side ever since. Talk about loyalty." Fighter Luz commented as Alexandra turned to them, tilting her head at the sight of 3 masters.
"It's okay, girl. They're friendly." Avatar Luz said as the baby looked to them as well, "So cute. So, where did you guys come from?"
"Multiverse." They both said.
"Killed and reborn as a Phoenix." Phoenix said, gesturing to her flaming hair.
"Kickboxer since I was a little kid with magic gloves." Fighter Luz said, holding up her left hand.
"Wow, that was quicker than I expected. And Athena?" Avatar Luz asked.
"Massive bitch that wants to rule the multiverse." Fighter said.
"And we were called in by two watchers of the Multiverse to help stop her. Our universes are sort of "core" universes and can handle us being gone for a while." Phoenix said to her.
"I'll just take your word for it." Avatar Luz said, "So, what can the master of the four elements do to help? Do I need to get my airbending master involved, I'm sure he'd be glad to help."
"Right now, we just need to find her." Fighter said.
"Well, I can help with that, let me make a call and we can have the entire Isles searched by midnight." Avatar Luz said, "And in the meantime, I want to see what you can do."
She pointed at Phoenix.
"Me?" Phoenix asked, "Why?"
"I'm a Firebending prodigy, capable of even producing Lightning, I want to see if I can learn/teach a thing or two."
Phoenix thought about it... mostly the book.
'She... she could help me learn and unlock the Thunder Bird form.'
"Okay, sure. I'm also wonder what your bending can do." Phoenix said with a nod.
"Great. We can practice out back." Avatar Luz said.
"Okay, so... who are you calling?" Fighter asked.
"Emperor Belos." Avatar Luz said, like it was a casual thing for her.
"BELOS?!" Both of them shouted in shock, dropping their jaws!
"Ah!" Avatar Luz let out in a jolt! "Yeesh, what's the big deal?"
"HE'S EVIL!" Both of them shouted again!
"Evil?" Avatar Luz asked, "I don't want to visit your dimensions."
Avatar Luz pulled out her scroll and dialed Belos's number, gazing at Fighter Luz and Phoenix as they still looked shocked. A universe with GOOD Belos? It didn't seem plausible to either of them!
"Geez, what next, a Universe where we're related to Belos?" Fighter asked.
"Please don't jinx us." Phoenix said, "I can't handle that."
"The multiverse is a big place. Maybe he is." Avatar Luz said as a joke but both of them glared at her. "Okay, sorry. I take it back."
Belos answered her call and was quickly asked to come over to the owl house.
Avatar Luz hung up and smiled.
"Alright, he's on his way."
"Great…..just great." Fighter Luz said with an eye roll.
'This is gonna be awkward for everyone.' She thought as Avatar Luz lead them outside.
"Alright, let's see how good you are." Avatar Luz said.
Phoenix rolled her neck as she created fireballs in her hands, her head ablaze as well.
"Gladly." She said to the avatar.
'Alright, let's see if this will work.' Phoenix thought.
Phoenix started by sending the orange fire at the Avatar, who caught them, made them blue, and then sent them back at her.
'She really can use blue fire.' Phoenix thought as she smacked the flames away, flying towards Avatar Luz. 'Let's see how she hands close combat!'
Phoenix flew as fast as she could, but Avatar Luz used her Earth bending and formed a shield from the ground. She didn't stop and purposefully flew into it, bursting into flames and flying around the shield before reforming behind Avatar Luz.
"Did you really think that would stop me?!" She shouted, attacking her with flaming fists.
"No, but I thought I could try." Avatar Luz said as she blocked and dodged her punches.
Avatar Luz held her hands up and the water from the cliff rose up. Fighter Luz saw this and gasped, seeing her bending the boiling water!
'Okay, that might hurt!' She thought as Avatar Luz ducked and swept Phoenix off her feet.
"Got ya!" Avatar Luz said before guiding the boiling water above them.
"Wow, you're good."
"Right?" Avatar Luz said before backing away and dropped the boiling water on Phoenix.
"Nope!" Phoenix shouted as she quickly turned into the fire bird, unleashing more flames to clash with the water!
Phoenix went through the water with ease, but Avatar Luz managed to stop her with her firebending.
'She can control my fire!?' Phoenix thought.
"Wow. I didn't think I could manipulate you as a whole. I just thought I could manipulate your fire after it left you." Avatar Luz said.
"This is almost like Bloodbending." Avatar Luz said.
'Bloodbending? She can bend blood too?!' Fighter Luz thought as Avatar Luz spun around and threw Phoenix off the cliff!
"Sorry, not sorry!" Avatar Luz quickly shouted, "Can she survive the boiling sea?"
"I think so." Fighter Luz replied before Phoenix came and tackled Avatar Luz away. "Never mind, absolutely."
Phoenix dropped Avatar Luz and then landed on the ground and began unleashing fire.
"Yaaaah!" She shouted as Fighter Luz created as Ice Dome to protect herself!
"Oh boy!" Avatar Luz shouted as she created another stone wall to protect herself!
"Watch it! I'm not part of this duel!" Fighter said.
"Sorry!" Phoenix shouted before she became human again, making a knife of fire.
"Since when could you do that!?" Fighter asked.
"Actually, I just decided to try it out."
Phoenix rushed and cut through the stone wall, making it collapse as Avatar Luz jumped back in surprise.
"Whoa! You can use fire knives too?" Avatar Luz asked, making fists and producing blue fire out of the ends like knives.
"Looks like we got a knife battle."
As the two changed and clashed their flaming knives, Belos was flying towards the owl house with his staff and wondering what Luz could want since today wasn't a scheduled training day for her airbending.
'Something must've happened.'
He would find out when he arrived or sooner since something appeared to be forming behind him without him knowing. At the Owl House, Phoenix was barely standing when she was struck by lightning and taken down.
"Alright, I think I win." Avatar Luz said.
"Yeah, I figured." Phoenix said, smoking from that lighting striking her.
"Ouch. That had to fucking hurt." Fighter Luz commented a wince.
"Yeah, I am a prodigy." Avatar Luz said.
"Yeah, there's something I need to ask." Phoenix said.
"Sure, anything." Avatar Luz said as she blew on her fingers.
"First question, the glow that came from my... our eyes before, what was that?" Phoenix asked as she fully healed herself.
"That's the Avatar State."
"The what?" Fighter Luz asked.
"It's the complied lifetimes and knowledge of all the avatars before me. Every avatar that dies, they join the cycle and pass their experiences along to the next Avatar." Avatar Luz said.
"So….you basically have hundreds or thousands of dead people in your head to help you fight? That's like a one man army at your beck and all!" Fighter Luz shouted at her.
Avatar Luz looked down.
"Uh... I only have a couple." She said, "The cycle reset."
"Reset?" They said, confused.
"The Avatar State is both a trump card and an Achilles heel, because if I'm killed in that state, the cycle ends and the avatar ceases to exist. That happened to one of my past lives, Korra, from mercury poisoning." Avatar Luz said, "It's... I've basically been learning everything about the Avatar myself."
"All that knowledge just gone?" Phoenix asked, a little sad for her.
"Yeah, no way of reconnecting it either. Korra had to restart it all over again." Luz said.
"So, that's what I have to deal with." Avatar Luz said.
"...Okay, next question, you can use lightning... how?" Phoenix asked.
"Lightning generation is a sub bending element of fire bending. Any fire bender can do it if they train hard enough, though some sub bending elements are rare to be able to bend like lava bending for Earth Benders and Combustion Bending for fire benders." Avatar Luz explained.
"So, you're saying EVERY human on your Earth can bend an element?" Fighter Luz asked in surprise.
"Not everyone but... yeah, most." Avatar Luz said.
"So... if Fire and Lightning are connected... maybe I could learn how to." Phoenix said.
"I guess but I'm not entirely sure. Technically speaking, you're a non-bender." Avatar Luz said.
"We won't know unless we try." Phoenix said to her.
'I have to try.' Phoenix thought.
Avatar Luz and Fighter Luz were a bit confused on how adamant she was being about this but the former just shrugged her shoulders and walked up to her.
"Alright, I guess I can teach you how." Avatar Luz said.
Suddenly, Belos arrived.
"Well, guess it will have to be later." Avatar Luz said.
At the sight of him, Fighter Luz and Phoenix tensed with their guards up for a fight. They still knew he was a "good" person from Avatar Luz but personal experience had a stronger hold on them.
'Jeez, they really do hate the Belos of their universes.' Avatar Luz thought, gazing towards them.
Avatar Luz walked up to him and bowed in respect.
"Master."
Belos bowed back before taking notice of two other Luzs, making him gasp as he took off his mask to see them clearly. This also revealed a large blue arrow in the middle of his forehead.
"By the Titan, my eyes aren't playing tricks on me." He said with wide eyes.
"Yeah, this is a bit of a story." Avatar Luz said.
A roar in the sky took their attention as everyone looked up to see a large shadow flying over them, looking like a giant raven with shiny wings like steel, a beak full of sharp teeth, and glowing red eyes!
"What the hell is that!?" Fighter asked.
"It's not like any bird I've seen before." Avatar Luz said.
"Then it's best to stay back and see what it does." Belos said.
The large bird cawed loudly over the group, flapping its wings to halt before gazing down at them! The large bird flapped down towards them as its feathers flew off and down to them like missiles!
"INCOMING!" Fighter Luz shouted!
Phoenix got in front and fired at the feathers.
But her flames did nothing as they were extinguished when they clashed with each feather! Seeing this wasn't working, Belos moved and fired a large blast of air at the feather! The feathers dispersed and stabbed in the ground around them, one almost stabbing Avatar Luz in the foot.
"Eeeh!" She let out, pulling her foot back and gazing at the feather.
It looked metallic, almost like real metal as it shined in the light a bit.
"What is this?"
She moved to touch it, finding it smooth as metal too. She even flicked it and found a clanging sound coming from it!
'Metal feather?' She thought.
"It's coming back!" Phoenix shouted, "Fighter, get out of the way!"
Phoenix jumped, transformed into her Phoenix form, and flew towards the bird. Belos was shocked by this before turning to his student.
"Did she just.." he said.
"Yes, she transformed into a Phoenix." Avatar Luz said.
The flaming bird collided with the metal one. They clashed several times in the air before they flew around each other and clashed once again!
"I don't think this will work." Avatar Luz said, "Metal is very fire resistant."
"It's got to have a melting point! She just has to find it." Fighter Luz said.
'This thing is Athena's creation, I know it. But where is she?' She thought.
She could figure that out later, she needed to help Phoenix.
"Can your Lightning melt metal?!" Fighter Luz asked Avatar Luz.
"I've never tried to make it melt metal, but it might be able to do some damage. It also won't be able to dodge since metal attracts lightning!" Avatar Luz said as she began moving her hands, charging up her lightning.
She fired her lightning and hit the bird.
"RAAAAH!" The metallic bride screeched in pain, staggering in the air!
Phoenix flew at it, turned back, and delivered a powerful punch.
"Yah!" Phoenix shouted as the Steel Raven was sent crashing into the woods!
Phoenix flew down at fast speed, slamming another fist into the bird.
"You're feather may be heat resistant but let's see how tough you really are!" Phoenix said as she planned to use her strength more than her flames.
By using her ability to fly, she was able to move very fast, which allowed her strength to be increased. She flew up in the air before slamming down on the metal bird again, driving it deeper into the ground! She began to deliver multiple punches. Each punches was breaking her bones but she was healing with every pull back as the bird was still trying to get up!
"Don't let him get up!" Avatar Luz said as she, Belos, and Fighter Luz rushed in to help.
Avatar Luz put her hands on the bird and began using metal bending to shift its wings
'Find the impurities, find the impurities!' She thought.
Fighter Luz used her ice and plant glyphs to strain the right wing. Belos held out his staff and it began glowing red, incasing the bird in a red glow.
"We can't hold this down forever!" Belos shouted.
The bird screeched and stood up.
"Luz!" Belos shouted.
"I'm trying but this thing seems too pure! My mental bending isn't working!" Avatar Luz said to her.
"Then just hit it!" Fighter Luz shouted as she activated her power glyph and jumped for a flying kick with her stronger leg.
The bird dodged and knocked her back with its wing. Phoenix grabbed its back and tried to chock it from behind as Avatar Luz began charging up another lightning strike. The bird knocked Phoenix off and slammed her into Avatar Luz.
"Ugh!" they let out in pain!
"CAW!" It roared at Belos as he was the last man standing.
"Very well, beast. You and me." Belos said, preparing his artificial magic and his air bending.
Belos fired his staff at it. The magic lightning was enough to push the large bird back in pain, making it caw with every hit while the trio of Luzs were recovering. Belos spun his staff and used his magic to teleport in front of the bird. He hit it with a strong blast of air, sending it crashing through some tree before he teleported above it and hit it with a large fire spell!
"I've had about four hundred years to master magic." Belos said, "I am the oldest being on the Isles and have learned about secrets you can't even begin to understand... if you think a simple bird will beat me, you have another thing coming."
The bird didn't take this lightly as it screeched and flew from the flames of the fire spell, trying to eat him before he teleported away again! Belos blasted wind at him, equaling the wind of a category three hurricane. The metal bird tried to fight it and fly at Belos but the winds had captured it and spun it around in a small tornado!
"I have had centuries to master Airbending, and managed to do that BEFORE I ended up here." Belos said, "You don't stand a chance."
He directed the tornado towards the boiling sea and sent another lightning blast at the metal bird to knock it down into the sea! Belos waited, wondering if it would get back up.
"Ugh, where's the damn vulture?" Fighter Luz said, getting up from the ground.
"Over the cliff." Belos said as he didn't turn to her.
"You threw it over?" Phoenix asked as she and Avatar Luz got up too.
"It would seem so." Belos said, "But nothing is ever really that easy."
The trio, although two were still reluctant, agreed as they moved towards the cliff edge slowly to check.
"Any of us see it, we strike. Got it?" Avatar Luz said.
"Gladly./Sure." Fighter Luz and Phoenix said.
"Ah, I spent a lot of time on that." A voice said.
One that Phoenix and Fighter have come to hate.
Everyone spun around and looked up, seeing Athena sitting crossed legged on the top of the owl house.
"Do you know how hard it was to create a steel like material from shadow magic?" She said in a small whine.
"Enough of this game!" Phoenix shouted.
Phoenix shot up with a blue flaming fist at the ready, punching towards Athena as she blocked with her hand covered in shadow magic.
"Ah Ah Ah. That's not very nice." Athena said with an eye smile under her mask.
Athena threw Phoenix over her shoulder, ripping off Phoenix's arm in the process.
"Fuck!" Phoenix shouted in pain as she slid against the roof!
"You bitch!" Fighter Luz shouted as slammed her hands into the ground and make ice spikes rise to Athena but she simply jumped to dodge them.
Fighter used her leg and jumped up to meet her.
"You aren't the only one with tricks." Fighter said.
She threw a kick for her helmet but Athena sighted her leg and spun around before throwing Fighter Luz into Phoenix just as she got up!
"Ugh!" They both grunted as the roof caved in and they fell into the house!
Athena laughed, until she was hit with Lightning.
"Hey, that MY house you just damaged!" Avatar Luz said.
"Your house?" Athena questioned with a tilt of her head.
"Yeah, and you're trespassing, so leave!"
Avatar Luz charged another blast of lightning as Athena countered it with a blast of shadow magic.
'Impressive.' She thought before being hit with a blast of air from Belos.
"Who are you and why are you here?" Belos asked.
She turned and looked at Belos.
"You." Athena growled, "You've taken everything away from me!"
Athena turned and charged at Belos.
"What?" Belos asked as he dodged, the ground destroyed as Athena slammed down her axe, "By I don't even know you."
"You did in my universe!" Athena shouted, pulling her axe out of the ground.
She swung her axe, but it was blocked by Phoenix.
'I can't believe I'm saving this man.'
"Get out of my way!" Athena shouted as Fighter Luz grabbed her from behind!
"Not a chance!" She shouted, using the power glyph for extra strength hand pulling Athena up before German Suplexing her into the ground behind her!
When she hit the ground, Phoenix jumped up and slammed her foot against Athena's head.
"Don't let up! Keeping attacking!" Phoenix shouted!
"I'm on it." Fighter said, slamming her foot into Athena's side.
The woman was sent tumbling away as Avatr Luz created a ball of blue fire in her hands.
"Teach!" She said.
"Gladly!" Belos aid, creating a small tornado and throwing it at Athena.
The two threw their respective elements at the masked terrorist and created a flaming cyclone. Fighter Luz and Phoenix moved away a the attack consumed Athena, making her scream in pain a bit. Athena stood up and growled.
"You won't stop me that easily... I have plans for this dimension." She said teleporting away.
"Plans? What could she possibly have planned?" Belos asked, turning to Phoenix and Fighter Luz.
"We don't know... her mind is a twisted mess." Phoenix said, "She could be planning anything."
"Then I will send word to the scouts to search every inch of the Titan." Belos said.
"And you can tell us more about Athena, maybe we could stop her before whatever plan she would try." Avatar Luz said to the other Luzs.
"She's insane, and extremely powerful."
"And wants to rule or destroy the multiverse. For some reason, she wants us dead. Apparently, we are a big threat to her." Phoenix said as she gestured to herself, Fighter, Avatar Luz, "She is something that I struggle against... and I've done some powerful things."
"That's why you wanted me to try and teach you lightning bending?" Avatar Luz asked in realization.
"Let's just say, it might help me." Phoenix said.
"Might help all of us. Strong as we are, we can't last forever." Fighter Luz said, thinking about what happened before in Blacksmith's universe.
'And we still don't know what that orb is for. Is it a trump cares or is it for personal reasons?' She thought.
"Well, let's get somewhere that she won't be able to get through." Belos said.
Belos held up his staff and coated them all in a red glow, teleporting them away from the owl house to the most secure place on the Boiling Isles. The castle. Appearing in the throne room, the trio of Luzs shook a bit as they held their stomach in surprise from the sudden teleportation.
"Oh, my stomach." Avatar Luz said, holding her mouth a bit.
"It will pass." Belos said.
"HUH!" Fighter Luz let out as she puked on the ground. "Sorry, not sorry. I'll burn it away later."
"We have more pressing matters to deal with." Belos said.
"Yeah, we do." Phoenix said as she swallowed her vomit and burned away the vomit on the floor, "We need to find out what Athena is after."
"What's special about this universe aside from every human being able to bend an element?" Fighter Luz asked as she wiped her mouth.
"Well, some demons and witches can do it as well." Avatar Luz said, "It's... kind of a long story."
"And we might not have time for it all." Belos said.
"Then give us the quick run down." Fighter Luz said while spinning her hand.
"My brother and I were brought here by a witch, we were given magic by the mystical pools at Eclipse Lake." Belos said, "My brother's mind was twisted and he spent 400 years bringing other benders here and giving them magic."
"Then maybe she has a use for the lake." Phoenix said, "Maybe something about the water helps her goal."
"If it's a power boost, then that would definitely help. What's so special about the water?" Fighter Luz asked.
"It is the life essence of all magic in the realm, Titan's Blood." Belos said.
"That's the last thing she needs." Fighter said.
"Can you take us there?" Phoenix asked.
"I can but no worries. The only ones that know the exact location of the lake are I and the avatar." Belos said.
Under his mask, Belos was fuming, because he was reminded of the guards in charge of defending the lake, that were slaughtered by his brother just a few months ago. So, it really was just him and Avatar Luz that knew the location of the lake. At least, that he knew of.
Suddenly, a guard came up to them.
"My Emperor, the Golden Guard has returned from his mission and needs to speak with you."
Belos sighed.
"Avatar, keep an eye on them until I get back." Belos said.
"Can do. Besides, I don't know what they think of the Golden Guard so it's better to keep them here." Avatar Luz said.
Phoenix let out a growl. Golden Guard was the one that shoved that sword through her chest, he was also a massive thorn in her side. Fighter Luz turned in a huff, feeling sour about that guard and his high loyalty towards someone like Belos. Even in an alternate version that's a good guy makes her feel uneasy. Yeah, long story short, they both had problems with Golden Guard. Belos nodded to Avatar Luz before leaving with the coven scout.
"So, about learning Lightning generation, still up for it?" Avatar Luz asked Phoenix.
"Absolutely."
"And I guess, I'll just watch from the sidelines or maybe shadow box a bit." Fighter Luz said with a shrug. "I just don't think my gloves could really work with this bending thing."
"Yeah, probably."
"I mean, you could still ask to train. The bending arts are actually based on Martial Arts. Maybe you could learn some?" Avatar Luz offered.
"Thanks, but I already got some tips from someone. Trust me, they're on a whole other level." Fighter Luz said, remembering Hardcore Luz.
"I'll take your word for it."
Avatar Luz and Phoenix moved a good distance away from Fighter Luz to practice Lightning Generation, needing the space so they don't hit her by accident.
"Now, follow my movements." Avatar Luz said.
Avatar Luz moved into a stance with her pointer and middle fingers extended, Phoenix coping them nearly perfectly. Only difference is, Phoenix didn't get lightning to generate.
"The key is calming your chi and moving it through your body in fluid motions." Avatar Luz said.
"But why am I not generation lightning? It's not difficult then what you're doing." Phoenix said.
"It could be a number of things."
"Like what? I can wield fire just like you." Phoenix said.
"Maybe but USING fire is entirely different than BENDING fire." Avatar Luz said, "You'll have to understand, there's a chance you may never use lightning."
"But I NEED to if we're going to beat Athena, wielding fire can only do so much. I need to be able to use lightning." Phoenix said, stubborn and not giving up.
'I need to be able to use the thunder bird, with it, we may have a chance.' Phoenix thought.
"I'm sorry but maybe we can do something to spark the lightning in you." Avatar Luz said as she stopped generating lightning. "There's a technique that can allow you to redirect lightning through your body and shoot it back."
"I guess we can try."
Avatar Luz began making new movements, pointing both hands to once since before moving her right one down to her stomach and to the other end.
"Redirecting lightning is entirely different than generating. Taking philosophy from water bending, you must move the flow of energy in your body and use it to turn your opponent's own energy against them. You must focus on redirecting your energy to create a pathway from your fingertips, down the arm to the stomach, and up to exit the other arm." Avatar Luz explained.
"Sounds simple enough."
Phoenix began copying Avatar Luz's movements, breathing calmly and focusing her inner energy. Unlike generating lightning, she was actually feeling something with this and could possibly get better results
"Yeah, just like that." Avatar Luz said.
"Thanks, think we can test it out when I've got the hang of it?" Phoenix asked.
"You know that sounds crazy but if you didn't have immortality, I wouldn't agree to it." Avatar Luz said to her.
"Technically, it's not immortality, I just can't be killed." Phoenix said, "I can still grow old and die."
"And be reborn?" Avatar Luz asked.
"I…..don't now about that actually. Let's just focus on testing redirecting lightning for me." Phoenix said.
"Alright." Avatar Luz said.
Avatar Luz stopped her redirection teaching and began to generate lightning in her finger tips. Phoenix prepared herself and took a calming breath, not afraid of dying since she can survive it.
"Ready." Phoenix said.
"Good." Avatar Luz said, firing at Phoenix.
'Here goes!' Phoenix thought as she moved her hand forward to try and catch the lightning to redirect!
But it just killed her in a blast that send her crashing into a wall!
Avatar Luz walked over to the dead body.
"Well that didn't work."
"Wait for it." Fighter Luz said, still shadow boxing with a punch, dodge, and uppercut.
Phoenix burst into flames and reformed her body, slowly sanding up and groaning in pain.
"Shoot, I thought that would work." she said, rolling her neck. "But whatever, let's go again."
Avatar Luz just looked at Fighter Luz.
"Is she a masochist?"
Fighter Luz shrugged.
"You have to admire her tenacity but I can see it borders on insanity." she replied.
"I'll take that as a compliment, now let's go again!" Phoenix shouted.
If only the trio knew this, one of the definitions of insanity is "doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result". And one could argue that Phoenix does indeed deal with insanity, after dying over and over again. She just didn't want to give up, getting back on her feet after healing every time to try again.
"Again!" Phoenix said before calming herself.
"You know, I'm really getting tired of killing you."
"Never heard someone's day that to me. And it's not like I'm trying to be killed, I just don't know what I'm missing." Phoenix said as she got up again.
"Maybe you're not flowing your energy smoothly enough." Avatar Luz said, "Your fire is different than firebending, so maybe you need to learn this another way. When it comes to Lightning generation, you need to remain emotionless."
'That won't work, my powers are a lot stronger when I'm mad.' Phoenix thought.
"But why does redirection have to be the same? My emotions make my power stronger." Phoenix said.
"I get that, but I think there's a difference between using your emotions and controlling them." Avatar Luz said.
"Sounds like bull crap." Fighter Luz muttered.
"Hey, I don't make the rules."
"Then this was just a bust." Phoenix said with a sad sigh.
"Hey, I think you're strong enough to fight her without lightning." Fighter said.
"I get that but still, a little lightning never hurts against a woman with shadow magic." Phoenix said as they began walking away, heading towards Belos and the golden guard.
"Avatar, I need to speak with you." Belos said, motioning for Avatar Luz to follow him.
"What about us?" Fighter Luz asked, gesturing to herself and Phoenix.
"We'll be with you in a moment."
Belos and Avatar Luz left the room as Phoenix and Fighter Luz were left standing with the Golden Guard of this universe.
"So…greetings." He said with a wave of the hand.
"Hmm." Both Luzs hummed, looking away from him.
Belos and Avatar Luz got a bit away before speaking.
"There have been sighting of a masked woman with an axe just outside of Bonesborough." Belos said.
"Alright, where is she?" Avatar Luz asked.
"She's... at HER grave."
Avatar Luz felt her blood boil.
"I…..see." She said, her eyes flashing white. "She has a death wish."
"Indeed."
Meanwhile at "her" grave, Athena stood over and looked at the gravestone to read.
"I will admit, you're just as admirable as in my world." Athena said, "I truly am sorry that you died, if I had it any other way, it never would've happened."
Athena waved her hand around, forming a black rose and placing it on the grave as a show of respect. She then began to take her leave.
'Goodbye, Eda.' She thought.
If there was one thing that may have prevented Athena becoming who she is, it was Eda... her immense hatred for Belos, for anything, started the day she died. And she swore, Belos would pay. EVERY Belos of every universe would pay.
"FREEZE!"
Athena held her axe and turned around. She saw several coven guards land before her and point their fingers/fists at her.
"You are trespassing on a protected grave site! Surrender or we will use force!" A scout captain shouted at her.
Athena let out a small chuckle.
"Cute."
She snapped her fingers to summon a small group of husks to aid her before charging at the scouts!
"CHARGE!" The captain shouted, creating a fire sword.
At the castle, Avatar Luz was shooting fire at every direction possible, enraged that this woman would dare head to Eda's grave!
"I'll kill her for going there!" Avatar Luz shouted while Phoenix and Fighter Luz watched from behind a barrier.
"That's just what Athena does, she goes for our weaknesses to draw us out and goes for the kill. This isn't the first time she's used Eda against us." Fighter Luz said.
"That woman sacrificed herself for me, if she even does something as simple crack Eda's gravestone, I'll kill her!" Avatar Luz said.
A universe with Eda gone, it made Phoenix and Fighter sad but they couldn't focus on that right now. They needed focus on Athena.
"Can you take us to Eda's grave? We need to stop Athena from doing something to it and force her out of here." Phoenix said.
'Probably some sick zombie shit.' Fighter Luz thought.
"Don't worry, she'll die before I let that happen." Avatar Luz said.
"Then what are we waiting for?" Fighter Luz asked her.
"Nothing, let's go."
Avatar Luz created a ball of air under her and rod off on it as Phoenix and Fighter rushed after her with streams of fire.
"She's fast!" Fighter said, flying with flames from her gloves!
"Yep." Phoenix agreed.
"Wait!" Golden Guard shouted before teleport rushing after them, following for back up.
The trio didn't stop as Avatar Luz lead them all towards Eda's grave.
"No ones here." Fighter said.
"And the grave is untouched."
"There's not even signs of a battle." Avatar Luz said, looking around for anything. "Did she just come here to draw us out?"
"It's Athena, there's no telling what she's thinking... she may be mad, but she's a mad genius." Phoenix said.
"Aw, thank you!" A voice said.
The trio turned around to find the voice but saw nobody except themselves.
"It means so much to me that you find me so clever! It almost makes me want to spare you." Athena said.
"Where are you? Why did you come here?!" Fighter Luz asked, creating an ice sword with her gloves.
"Well, since you're curious, I am for a simple thing….to pay my respect." Athena said.
"And here I thought you didn't have any respect."
"How could I not respect the most powerful wild witch in this world?" Athena asked as she appeared from behind Eda's grave, "She could've been a great hero in my world, but she was petrified. That was the day I learned that Belos was nothing but a bastard, and when he did that Day of Unity, billions died, everyone I knew was eradicated... heroes don't live long in the world, that's what I learned that day... so I decided to be the villain."
'The Day of Unity? That's what changed her?' The trio of Luzs thought in surprise.
They hadn't really thought about that, but it did accour to them that the Day of Unity was different in other dimensions. In this world, it was the final battle between Philip and Caine. In Phoenix's dimension, it was the revival of the Titan. In Fighter Luz's world, she doesn't even know what it is yet.
"Is that why you're doing this? Because you think you're honoring your Eda's memory by doing this?" Avatar Luz asked.
"I'm doing it... because as it turns out... I LIKE being the Villain."
With a snap of her fingers, a horde of Husks was summoned around them and rushed the trio!
"No!" Phoenix shouted as she began firing at the husks.
"Shit!" Fighter Luz shouted as she began slashing at them with her ice sword.
"Like I said, heroes don't last long in the world."
"You're wrong!" Avatar Luz shouted as she fought with fire, air, and earth.
"Oh, you." Athena said, "Tell me, why play hero? Eda may still be alive if you didn't try and be something you're not."
"You don't know me!" Avatar Luz shouted.
"Don't I?" Athena asked, "You ran from your world, because you were afraid of being who you were meant to be. People have suffered because of what you've done. Eda is dead, because she was defending you. Lilith was beaten and tortured because of YOUR enemy. Amity became a monster because of YOU."
"T-t-that's... that's not true!" Avatar Luz said.
"Then why do you sound so doubtful? Could it be that I may be right?" Athena asked, making a chair out of shadow magic.
She could just sit and relax as her minions and her words got to the master of all elements.
"Oh, and your poor mother, you left her without care. I imagine that would be hard on her."
"T... that's not true." Avatar Luz said, "I was being sent away, anyway."
'She's getting emotional... no lightning now.' Athena thought.
Yet you still didn't contact her in anyway or fashion. Even if the Avatar is no longer needed on your Earth, you still had a mother that needed you." Athena said as she used her shadow magic to create a small doll that looked like Camila. "Just imagine how your mother felt when she received the news that you didn't arrive, that you suddenly vanished off the face of the planet. Oh, how heartbroken she must be."
She moved her fingers like a puppeteer and made "doll Camila" hold her chest and collapse to her knees.
"Oh, don't worry, Camila, it's not your fault you have a horrible daughter." Athena said.
"Shut up!" Avatar Luz shouted, destroying several husks with a wave of fire.
"Oh, looks like I struck a nerve."
Avatar Luz growled at Athena as her eyes began to flicker with white lights, trying not to go into the avatar state with how she was feeling.
Athena smiled.
'Now I strike!'
Athena got up and summoned her axe, planning to end this with Avatar Luz vulnerable. She ran at Avatar Luz, but was hit by a blast of fire from the side.
"Get away from my teacher." Hunter said, holding out his smoking fist.
"What the heck?" Fighter Luz asked.
"He's a firebender?" Phoenix asked.
"It's the one thing I can thank my father for." Hunter said.
"Your father, huh? I take it he was an enemy?" Athena asked with a smirk.
"Doesn't matter but yeah." Hunter said as he jumped and waved his arms forward, sending a wave of flames to her!
Athena dodged each blast with ease.
"Sloppy." Athena commented as she charged at Hunter, slashing but he dodged with his staff.
"I'm just getting started." Hunter said as he spun on his feet, making a ring of fire around him.
Athena moved back to avoid it.
'He is far more clever than some of the other versions I've seen.'
Athena made more husks to test him, using them as cannon fodder.
'Hmm, he's not a grimwalker.' Athena thought.
This Hunter was a natural born witch, not created by Belos. There had to be at least ONE that was naturally born in the multiverse.
'Well, that's a shame, I used his galdorstone heart to increase my power, guess I won't be doing that now.'
Hunter finished off the last of the husk before turning to Athena, charging up his staff in one hand and his fire bending in the other!
"Eat this!" He shouted, firing a magic-bending combination at her!
Athena simply put her hand up and blocked it.
"Hmm, not bad but not good enough." Athena said before covering it with her shadow magic, creating a giant shadow hall. "Let me show you how it's done!"
Athena slammed the shadow ball into the ground and sent a wave of shadow energy at all of them, sending them all to the ground! Athena walked up to Avatar Luz.
"You know, I think that position suits you... weak... helpless... on the floor."
"S-Shut up, I can still fight!" Avatar Luz said, trying to get up until Athena kicked her back down.
"Not by my eyes." Athena said, summoning her axe and hovering it over her head. "You're no different than the other two. Weak, pathetic, and so EASY to kill. It's such a delicious feeling."
Avatar Luz looked down as Athena raised her axe. She was about to drop it on Avatar Luz's head... only for her to be unable to. Avatar Luz looked up with glowing eyes and clenched fists. She stood up and moved her hands, making Athena move.
'Okay, this is not how I thought this would be.' Athena thought before she was pulled into the air, contorting as Avatar Luz slowly stood up. 'She can bend the water inside of my body?!'
'Fine, if you can bend my blood… then I'll change it.'
Athena's blood became black, becoming something impossible for a bender to control… pure shadow.
Avatar Luz didn't feel the change until it was too late, watching as Athena contorted her body back to normal and landed on the ground
"Impressive." She said before punching Avatar Luz back, right into a tree! "A very dark bending ability. Maybe you have some skill."
'If I couldn't take the other one, maybe I can take this one.' She thought as Fighter Luz was slowly getting up.
'Get up! Come on, get the fuck up!' Fighter Luz thought to herself, using her healing glyph to speed up the process.
Fighter got to her feet and stumbled a bit.
"Hey, bitch, don't count me out yet." Fighter Luz aid, putting up her fists.
"I didn't count you out, I just didn't bother with a LESSER threat." Athena said, keeping her attention on Avatar Luz. "You'll get your turn when in mind with the other three."
"I may not be as powerful as gods, but I'm still a threat!"
Fighter Luz stumbled but rushed at Athena's throwing a punch at Athena as she caught it with her bare hand. She didn't stop and threw another punch, making Athena catch it as well.
"Yes but you're not important right now!" Athena said before forcing Fighter Luz into her knees!
"That may be... but you forget something."
"Oh, yeah? What's that?"
"I'm the only one here." Fighter said.
Phoenix ran and used her super strength to punch Athena away from Fighter. She was sent flying into a tree, breaking through it as Phoenix blazed with blue flames.
"Come on, bring it on!" Phoenix said.
Phoenix was upset and angry from not being able to use redirection, she needed to blow off some steam... and she had the perfect punching bag. Avatar Luz landed next to the trio as Fighter Luz got up, rolling her shoulders.
"Alright ladies, let's kick some ass!" Fighter Luz said.
"Gladly." Phoenix said.
"Let's do this." Avatar Luz said.
The trio rushed towards Athena as she got up, bursting with shadow magic as her eyes flashed red at the trio, even visible through the mask.
"I. Have had. ENOUGH!" She shouted as she charged at them!
She slammed her axe down and the ground shook. The trio stumbled a bit but stayed on their feet before Athena teleported between them! She swung at Phoenix, digging her axe into her stomach and threw her into Avatar Luz! Fighter ran at her, but was hit with the flat side of the axe. It felt like getting bitch slapped by an angry polar bear.
'I think she loosened my tooth!' She thought as Athena grabbed her shirt!
"Rah!" Athena let out as she threw Fighter Luz into the ground!
She raised her axe, but Fighter used her strong leg to block it.
'I don't know what that rod is made of, but if it protects my leg from her, then I'm all for it.' Fighter thought.
She spun in her back and kicked up to flip away from Athena! The shadow woman didn't stop as she created shadow chains from her hand, not letting Fighter have breathing room! Fighter put her hands together and used her glyphs to make an ice shield. As she blocked some of the chains, Avatar and Phoenix recovered and rushed at Athena. Avatar Luz tried to blood bend Athena again, but her blood was still pure shadows, making it useless while Phoenix transformed. The large flaming bird used her talons and pinned Athena down.
"CAAAAAAAH!" She screeched in her armored face!
"Cute... but you forget that I can prevent you from using your powers."
With just a simply grip her legs, Athena forced Phoenix to turn back into her human form with her hands barely ablaze. Athena threw a powerful punch, knocking Phoenix away.
"Ugh!" She said, rolling across the ground!
"Heh!" Athena said before a dull rock spike sprang up into her back, knocking her into the air! "Guh!"
Fighter ran past Avatar Luz and jumped into the air, letting her leg do all the work.
'I'll crack that head wide open!' Fighter Luz thought.
She brought her leg down, slamming it into Athena's head, sending her back to the ground.
"Ugh!" Athena groaned as Avatar Luz shifted the ground to swallow Athena!
"Got you!" Avatar Luz said.
Athena put her hands up and fired black magic from them, destroying the would-be trap.
'Now to deal with you.' She thought as Fighter Luz flew back and launched vines at her.
Athena just slashed with her axe and grabbed her with a shadow hand!
"Nice try, you weak little human."
"For the last time, I am not WEAK!" Fighter Luz said before throwing a kick, slicing through the shadow hands, "But if I have to kick your ass to prove it, then so be it!"
Fighter Luz dropped to the ground and created Esperanza Brillante/Shining Hope in her right hand while in slamming her left hand into the ground to create a large vine hand!
"Esperanza Brillante/Shining Hope and Nature's Wrath!" Fighter Luz shouted as she launched her attacks.
'Hmm, not bad, but pretty easy to counter.' Athena said.
She made a shield to stop the orb attack while creating a large shadow hand to block the large green fist! She chuckled a bit before she was hit from behind, making Athena fall to a knee!
"I can still fight, bitch!" Phoenix shouted with a large branch in her hands!
"That's unfortunate."
Athena threw a back kick, sending Phoenix back as she coughed up some blood while slamming into a tree again!
'My healing isn't back yet! Fuck this is gonna sting for a while!' She thought as she laid against the tree.
Athena turned back to Fighter and charged.
"Now let's deal with you!" Athena shouted.
Fighter Luz brought up her fists and blocked a punch, flinching under the punch before she dodge a kick!
"Quit moving so I can kill you!" Athena said.
"In your dreams!" Fighter Luz said as she deflected a punch and kicked Athena in the stomach!
Athena was launched several feet. Avatar Luz came from behind and charged up lightning, hitting Athena at point blank! Athena was taken to the ground.
"Ugh!" She groaned before Fighter Luz fired ice and vines all over her body to keep her down.
They all ran over to her, but were surprised when she disintegrated, leaving behind an old skeleton.
"You didn't think I would really fight you myself, did you?" Athena called out from a distance, "I used this old skeleton I had lying around, and an old shadow possession spell I know. You may know the skeleton, in my dimension she was once called... Camila Noceda."
"MOM?!"the three Luz shouted in shock, taking steps back as they gazed at a Skeleton version of their mother! This was so shocking, if forced Avatar Luz out of the avatar state!
"You used our mom's skeleton as a puppet to fight us?! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" Fighter Luz shouted at Athena!
"Besides watching all the people, I ever loved die in front of me?" Athena asked, "If you were in my position, you wouldn't be so judgmental of me."
"We would never disrespect the dead like you, you monster bitch!" Phoenix shouted at Athena.
"Like you could understand the dead, you're always reborn." Athena said, rolling her eyes.
"Now, if you don't mind... I have some big plans for here, and I have to go begin them." Athena said, disappearing into a cloud of smoke.
"NO!" They shouted, hating that Athena got away AGAIN.
"Come on, she said she had something planned, we need to know what." Phoenix said.
"Then we need to get back to the castle and warn Belos!" Avatar Luz said, pointing towards the coven castle!
"Agreed." Phoenix said.
"Wait, where's the golden guard?" Fighter Luz asked, looking around before seeing him against a tree.
"Right here. Just resting a bit." He said, wincing a bit, "Wow, she's powerful."
"No shit. So, get up and let's go." Phoenix said, feeling her powers coming back and her fire blazing again.
"I want to burn that woman and spit on her ashes." Phoenix said.
"You're not the only one but let's save that for later." Avatar Luz said as she helped Hunter up. "Let's head back and try to make a plan."
"Agreed."
The group made their way back to the castle as Belos was conversing with the coven head about Athena, retaining information about her from Phoenix and Fighter Luz.
"Whatever she's plotting, she has to be stopped!" Belos said.
"We've sent out the picture of her to all of our coven members to be on alert. If she appears anywhere on the Isles, we'll know it." Darius said.
"Her shadow magic is unique but it's also dangerous." Terra said with a frown. "Even I think she's too dangerous to be around."
"Which is why she needs to be stopped immediately." Belos said.
"Hmm, it's going to be troublesome. She could hide just about anywhere and we wouldn't even know." Adrian said with a groan.
"Then maybe you should start thinking about how to capture her." Phoenix said.
Everyone turned to see three Luzs and one Golden Guard walking into the room. Surprising them all greatly, even after Belos told them.
"Glad you could make it." Belos said.
"Glad to be here." Avatar Luz said, creating some earth chairs for them. "Now, back to this crazy woman."
"Yes, you two know more about her than anyone, what is she capable of?" Belos asked.
"Shadow magic." Fighter and Phoenix said.
"Wields an axe with a lot of skill."
"Can mind control people and turn them into monsters."
"Can open a portal to a realm called "The Void" that makes your worst nightmares come true."
"Wait, what was that last part?" Avatar Luz asked, but was ignored.
"She... really hates you." Fighter said, looking at Belos, "And if you're anything like the Belos in my dimension... can't blame her for that."
"Okay?…But I can assure you, I am NOTHING like the Belos you know of the Belos she knew. Though I will admit the coven system is flawed, it helps witches focus on the magic they are passionate about and have a choice to expand that passion with the Emperor's Coven. I do regret the actions taken against wild witches in the past and will do anything to prevent it from repeating." Belos said with honesty, "The sole reason I did that was to prevent my brother from gaining allies, it was affective... to an extent."
"Yeah, whatever."
'Still don't trust him, even if he's a "good" Belos.' Fighter Luz thought.
"Never the less, this makes her even more dangerous than we thought." Darius said, rubbing his chin.
"How does one stop her?"
"We're trying to figure that out too." Phoenix said, "She even is capable of stopping me from using my powers."
"That's another problem, she can cancel magic." Terra said with a groan.
"And what exactly do you two do?" Darius asked.
"I'll let her show off first." Phoenix said.
Phoenix gestured to Fighter Luz first, making all eyes gaze towards her.
'Whatever. The sooner I show them what I can do, the sooner we can stop that armored bitch.' Fighter Luz thought.
Fighter Luz got into her fighting stance, throwing a couple punches, before using her gloves to show off her spells. Afterwards, she makes an icicle and stabs Phoenix in the heart.
"Aaaah!" Everyone but Belos, Hunter, and Avatar Luz screamed in shock.
"Wait for it." Belos said before Phoenix burst into flames and transformed into a Phoenix before them.
"CAAAAW!" She screeched.
"Phoenix, power down a bit." Fighter said, "We don't need you to catch the building on fire."
"I know but you can relax." Phoenix said before condensing herself back into her human form, only her fire hair and arms were blue. "I have complete control over my flames, nothing will burn unless I want it to burn."
"Hmm, there's a couple people I can think about wanting to get burned." Fighter said, looking at Terra.
"What? What did I do? I don't even know you personally." Terra said in confusion.
"My dimension version of you tried to kill me." Fighter Luz said.
"I... okay, that does sound like something I would do." Terra said.
Fighter turned to Raine.
"Hello, Raine, I haven't gotten to meet you personally, but my Eda has spoken about you a lot." Fighter Luz said.
"She did, did she?" Raine said with a small but sad smile.
It was good to know that Eda was alive and well in other universes.
"Yeah, she wants to really to bang you." Fighter said, making Raine blush wildly.
"Can you not kill one of my Coven Head's?" Belos asked.
"We've done nothing to you, both you and the avatar." Adrian said with his hands up.
"Relax, it's fine. We know the difference between universes and you guys gave a clean slate with us." Fighter Luz said with a wave of her hand.
'Not Lilith.' Phoenix thought, still not forgiving ANY version of Lilith.
"Kind of weird not having control of the Coven Heads." Phoenix said, "Feels nice not having to be in charge for a change."
"You're the emperor of your universe? So young?" Darius asked in shock, the over coven heads were shocked as well.
"I'll explain that later." Phoenix said, "We have bigger things to worry about."
"Like where Athena is right now and what she's planning." Avatar Luz said, gaining a look of determination yet also worry. "I can feel it, that woman is a walking disaster."
"Then it's up to us to figure it out." Belos said.
"Ruff!" Eberwolf barked.
'I could sniff her out! I just need something with her scent.' It translated to everyone that understood them.
"Hmm, where would we get that?" Darius asked.
"Grrr ruff." Eberwolf said, pointing to the trio of Luzs and Hunter. "Ruff ruff."
'I could probably pick it up from one of them, her scent might still be on them.'
"Hmm, that could work."
Eberwolf smiled a bit as they got up and walked over to the group.
"I don't think it will work in me, fire is the ultimate purifier." Phoenix said to them.
'She's totally saying that because she doesn't want them to sniff her.' Fighter thought.
Avatar Luz thought the same as Eberwolf's began with her, sniffing around her foot before climbing up and sniffing around her body. The beast coven leader was a bit too THOROUGH when it came to tracking.
"Woah, watch where you stick that nose, buddy!" Fighter said.
"Eh! Ruff ruff ruff!" Eberwolf said to her, stopping his sniffing.
"He says, "I'm a professional. I know where to sniff and where not to sniff."" Mason, the construction coven head said, crossing his arms.
Fighter Luz rolled her eyes.
"Sure." Fighter Luz said as Eberwolf finished sniffing Avatar Luz.
"Roooow!" Eberwolf howls!
"Looks like he's got a trail!" Darius said with a smile.
"Good, then lets follow it."
The Luzs and to coven heads rose up to follow Eberwolf as they summoned a large rat worm to ride.
'This seems... too easy.' Phoenix thought.
Everyone boarded the worm and hung on as Eberwolf gave it directions to Athena's possible location. They arrived at a place... Eclipse Lake. Gasping at the sight of it, everyone saw a lake full of blue Titan's blood as Athena stood at the other side, gazing into the liquid.
"Incredible... to think, this could lead to wars being raged."
"Step away from the lake!" Belos shouted as everyone but Eberwolf jumped off the rat worm.
"And why should I? I'm not doing anything to it." Athena said before waving her hand, summoning the unique orb from before. "I'm putting something in it."
'That orb!' Phoenix and Fighter Luz thought, recalling how Athena stole it from the Palisman Fusion universe and had it worked on in the Blacksmith universe.
It seemed to have some kind of Abomination goo inside, most likely a piece from Abomination Luz.
"Freeze!" Mason shouted as they all prepared spells against her.
"Don't even think about doing something with that orb!" Adrian shouted at her.
"Something? What could I possibly do with this to harm you?" Athena asked before dropping it into the lake. "Oops, I dropped it."
They all waited for what would happen... but nothing did.
"What? I never said this would do anything, did I?" Athena asked.
She reached down to grab it, but Avatar Luz used her Waterbending to bring it to her.
"You're right, because I won't let go of this until I'm dead." Avatar Luz said.
Athena let out an annoyed sigh as she tapped her helmet a bit, standing up and gazing at the group.
"Really? You want to do this again?" She asked Avatar Luz.
"I'm not letting you use... whatever this is, for your plans." Avatar Luz said.
'Well, she put me into a predicament. I need that to power my weapon, but it's unfinished, and unstable, a fight may ruin everything.' Athena thought.
Athena saw them all rush to the other side of the lake and surrounded her, still not moving from her spot but gazing at all of them.
'Perhaps I could mind control one of them to get the orb for me. But who to choose? They're all coven heads, most powerful witches in the isles.' She thought, before her gaze fell on Adrian and Osran, 'Hmm, you'll work as a minion.'
Her eyes turned dark black and connected with Adrian mentally, making everything go dark around him!
"What is this?! What's going on?!" Adrian shouted.
"Don't worry, it will be over soon."
He turned around in the void, seeing a giant version of Athena staring down at him!
"AAAAAAH!" He screamed like a little girl before turning to run!
"Hehehehe cute but its pointless to run." Athena said, reaching out and grabbing him. "Don't worry, it will be completely painless."
"Aaaaaah!" Adrian screamed again before everything went dark.
Outside of the void, in reality, Andria's body was in the same position as before but his eyes were completely black. He was under Athena's mind control now.
"You move an inch, we all attack!" Darius shouted, turning his arm into an abomination sword.
"Okay, I won't move an inch." Athena said, smirking under her mask.
'Do it.' Athena thought, ordering Adrian to cast an illusion.
A powerful illusion was place over the lake and cave, allowing Athena to hide. What was the illusion? Just that there were hundreds of Athenas surrounding them on all sides.
"What did she do!?"
"I don't know! She didn't even raise her hands to cast a spell!" Terra shouted as she tuned to fire a spell at the Athenas, but they just dodged the attack!
Fighter Luz looked at Adrian.
"I know how, she corrupted Adrian!"
Everyone turned to Adrian and saw that his eyes were pitch black, his arm out as he held a small mirror with a spell circle before him.
"How?! She didn't even move!" Avatar Luz said before one Athena rushed pasted her and grabbed the orb! "No!"
That Athena blended in with the others as they all charged at them! Fighter raised her leg and stomped it on the ground, cracking the land and making the illusion disappear. With all of the "Athenas" gone, Phoenix rushed to Andrian and slammed him into the ground!
"GUH!" He let out, being knocked out of the trance before falling unconscious.
"Great... now what?"
"We go after her! That orb seems to be important to her, that means it's dangerous!" Fighter Luz shouted before turning to Eberwolf. "Do you still have her scent?!"
'We don't know if she's hoped to the next universe either!' Fighter Luz thought.
She had a feeling she didn't, Athena love taunting and only would leave if mandatory.
"Ruff!" Eberwolf said with a nod, pointing towards another cave.\
"After her!" Mason shouted, brining out his hammer.
They arrived at the cave and saw that it was clearly meant to be her hide out, with lots of crate full of food, weapons, and all kinds of things she shouldn't have. Including a note.
'You should've never left the castle unprotected.'
Suddenly, a barrier appeared at the entrance and locked them inside, along with husks slowly forming on the ceiling!
"FUCK! It's a trap!" Phoenix shouted, gazing up to the ceiling!
"And it's one I won't let stop us." Belos said, firing his staff at the ceiling, destroying all of the husks, "I vowed to protect this world, I will not go back on my word now."
"Then we need to get back to the castle before she does something!" Darius said as he ran to the barrier and went full abomination.
He began to attack the barrier, but it did nothing.
"Cursed shadow magic!" Darius shouted, still slashing with a sword.
"Move, let me try." Vitimir, the potion coven head said, stepping forward and mixing two liquids together. "This mix should destabilize the magic, stand back!"
They threw the two bottles down and the barrier was destroyed.
"Excellent work, Vitimir." Belos said with a nod. "Now to the castle! Before she gets away!"
They arrived at the castle, seeing Athena standing on top with black clouds filling the sky.
"Minions... attack." Athena said, snapping her fingers.
Suddenly, several members of the Emperor's Coven came out, all corrupted.
"Oh you've got to be shitting me." Fighter Luz said with a groan.
"Well, I know of them from my dimension, this is going to suck." Phoenix said, before lighting up, "But it's the only way."
"Try not to hurt them too much. They're innocent victims." Belos said to everyone.
'I can only try so hard.' Fighter thought.
'Sorry guys. This is gonna hurt.' Phoenix thought before they all charged at the mind controlled coven members.
Phoenix slammed a fist on the ground, shaking the floor and making them lose their footing, while Fighter used her leg to hit the guards. Darius and Mason used abominations and stone to knock down the accounts before trapping them inside. Vitimir pulled down their mask and opened their giant mouth to release a cloud of gas to knock some out.
"Jesus, these guys are scary!" Fighter said.
"I'm not used to it myself but I've never seen their mouth before." Phoenix said about the potion coven head.
Meanwhile with the healing coven head, Hettie pulled out a scalpel and threw it at the scouts. With precise telepathic control, she cut them all in vital areas to make them collapse but not kill them.
"Phoenix, you can fly, you can get to Athena while we hold them off." Fighter said.
"I'm trying but some of them have staffs!" Phoenix said as some of the scouts flew up.
"Allow me!" Raine said, summoning a violin and plucking 2 strings to send them flying, "Now go!"
Phoenix jumped into the air and transformed, flying over everyone as Eberwolf's unleashed a swarm of insects to deal with other scouts.
"So, the birdie wants to play, huh?" Athena asked, "Fine."
Athena held her hands behind her back before jumping back, letting Phoenix destroy the ledge she stood on.
"You're not getting away!" She shouted at the dark magic woman!
Athena spun her axe and held it up as Phoenix was flying towards her. It split Phoenix right down the middle, resulting in two halves of Phoenix to land on the ground.
"Come on, reform and take me." Athena said.
The two halves twitched for a moment before bursting into flames, blasting towards Athena in multiple tendrils as the dark woman dodged them in the air.
"That's new. You're finally getting more creative I see." Athena comments as Phoenix reformed behind her.
"Shut up!" Phoenix shouted, kicking her but Athena dodged to the right.
Athena swung her axe, but Phoenix grabbed it and ripped it from her. Athena just watched.
"Try and break it, you can't." Athena said, "It's made of the strongest metal in the multiverse."
Phoenix glared at her and just slammed the blade into the ground.
"Then I guess I'll have to make sure you don't get your filthy hands on it." Phoenix said.
Athena rolled her eyes under her helmet before gesturing for Phoenix to "bring it on" with her fingers.
"Even with my bare hands, I can defeat you." Athena said.
"I don't know about that."
Phoenix charged at her and threw punches, making Athena dodge easily as she moved slowly in the air.
"You bore me." Athena said.
Athena blocked a punch and kicked her in the chin, but Phoenix didn't stop and grabbed her leg. She spun her around and threw her towards the horde of controlled scouts but stopped herself from crashing into them.
"Cute, but you still are weak." Athena said.
Athena flew back towards Phoenix and grabbed her face, throwing her down to the roof and smashed her through it!
"You think you can fight me? You think you can beat me!?"
Phoenix reversed their positions and kicked Athena to the floor, forcing her land on her feet in a crouch. She looked up and blocked a punch, pushing Phoenix back as she brought her fists up. Phoenix lit up again and threw multiple fire balls at Athena. Athena slashed her hand to send a wave of shadows, clashing with the most of fireballs while some slipped by.
"Pathetic." Athena said, dodging the remaining fireballs.
"You want more!?" Phoenix asked, her fire becoming blue, "Fine!"
The fire balls turned blue as well, flying around back to Athena.
'Remote control? Interesting.' Athena thought, turning around to hit punch and kick the blue fire balls.
"Not bad, but your little tricks aren't that impressive." Athena said.
"Then take this!"
Phoenix flew at Athena at high speed, tackling her against the wall, before throwing her up through the ceiling. Phoenix flew up and grabbed her by the neck, then flew back down, slamming her through the roof again and landing right in the thrown room. Athena landed on the ground and Phoenix stood up and placed her hand up, catching Athena's axe as it fell. She raised the axe, ready to end this once and for all.
"You're gonna kill me with my own axe?" Athena asked.
"Yeah, you got a problem with that?" Phoenix replied, forming her grip.
"I do." Athena said, disappearing into a shadow.
"What the!?"
Athena reformed behind her and took the axe, slamming the broad side of it against her and sending Phoenix into the wall. Athena held the axe handle against Phoenix's neck.
"Come on, surely you have something left in you." Athena said.
'Come on, come on! Let me use Thunderbird!' Phoenix thought as Athena's axe handle began to cut off her oxygen.
She looked at the giant heart and did the one thing she's never done.
'Please... help me.' Phoenix thought, hoping the Titan would listen
Before she passed out, she heard a voice and the Titan's heart stop.
'Let go of your control.'
Phoenix's eyes shot open, pure white.
"What!" Athena said.
Phoenix shoved the axe back and then slammed a hand into Athena's chest, knocking her across the room. Phoenix looked at her hands, seeing that they were also white. She looked at Athena and put her hands forward, unleashing a powerful blast of white fire.
"Aaaaaaaah!" Athena screamed in pain, falling back as her body smoked.
'Blessed Fire?! How?!' Athena thought in shock.
Blessed fire was the ultimate counter against shadow magic, a source a purified energy second only to holy light.
Phoenix looked at the fire.
'White fire?' She thought, 'It may not be Lightning, but it will work!'
Phoenix flew at Athena, both hands filled with fire and slammed into her.
"Aaaaaah!" Athena screamed as she was blasted back, slamming through the walls and back outside of the castle!
Phoenix transforms and flew after her! Athena saw the large white Phoenix before it grabbed her in its talons.
"Aaaah! Let go of me!" Athena shouted, firing shadow blasts but they didn't even hurt!
Phoenix flew up and then straight down, slamming Athena into the ground.
"You have been a pain in the ass for too long! And it's time I finish this!"
She pulled Athena from the ground and flew high into the air, building in heat and fire slowly she held Athena closely!
"What are you doing?!" Athena asked, trying to pull away from her!
"Pop Quiz, I can survive a kamikaze like explosion. Can you?" Phoenix asked with a glare.
Phoenix let the fire go, making a large white explosion in the sky.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Athena screamed from the pain as the light was shining over everyone above the castle.
Athena fell to the ground and began to crawl to her axe. She was about to grab it when a foot stepped on the axe handle. She looked up and saw Phoenix, a large smirk on her face.
"Well what do you know? You can survive a kamikaze explosion." Phoenix said to her.
"Grrrr. I don't know how you got those white flames, but even they will not stop me." Athena said, groaning as her body was smoking and her armor was damaged again.
"Hmmm, maybe but right now, I just got some WELL deserved revenge right now. Now how about we end this once and for all!" Phoenix said, raising a fist.
She was about to paint the ground black with Athena's blood, when she heard Fighter scream in pain.
"Hehehe, forget someone?" Athena asked, chuckling.
Turning to the battle, Phoenix gasped as she saw FighterLuz being overrun by the mind controlled scouts. Fighting in every direction while also being left open for magic attack or random punches and kicks. She still kept fighting even when her circle of resistance was growing smaller.
"What's it gonna be? End your enemy or save your friend? Ahahahahah-" Athena began coughing mid laugh, even if she was enjoying seeing Phoenix's struggle to choose.
Phoenix ran and jumped out the window.
"Fool." Athena said, before creating a portal and leaving.
Phoenix landed on the ground, making it shake as the white fire spread out, but didn't burn anyone.
"Back off." She said.
The mind controlled so it's paused for a moment, not from the flames but from the strange warmth they felt coming from Phoenix.
"Huh?" One let out as the darkness faded from his eyes, along with his coven mask falling off. "What-What happened?"
"It doesn't matter." Phoenix said, helping FIghter up.
Inside, the Titan's heart started beating again and Phoenix's flames returned to normal orange.
'Guess it was a one time use.'
Looking up to the scouts and other members, they all felt Athena's hood slip away and their eyes return to normal. They all had splitting headaches and questions about the small gaps in memory.
"She got away again." Phoenix said.
"Fuck, I expected as much. Looks like we're on the hunt again." Fighter Luz said, hissing in pain from all her injuries.
Avatar Luz walked over with a bucket of water.
"Hold still." She said.
She used her waterbending and covered most of Fighter Luz's body with it. The water started glowing as she healed Fighter Luz.
"There, that should help." Avatar Luz said, before looking at Phoenix, "As for you, I think I know why you can't use lightning."
"Why?"
"Because, you must have hate in your heart." Avatar Luz said, "You hold bitterness and hatred towards someone, possibly someone that has done you wrong, until you let go of that hatred, you will be unable to use it."
Hissing at this, Fighter Luz looked towards Phoenix and saw her glare at the ground a bit as she turned away from them. Letting go of her hatred? That was going to be impossible, VERY impossible.
"Luz!" A voice called out.
'Amity?' Fighter and Phoenix thought, turning to the source.
Amity ran up to Avatar Luz and hugged her.
"I saw that explosion and got here as soon as I could!" Amity said
"I can see that but I'm fine, that explosion didn't even hurt me." Avatar Luz said as she rubbed Amity's back to calm her down as Fighter Luz and Phoenix stared at them in surprise. "But you might be blown away by what you see now."
"See what?" Amity asked as Avatar Luz pulled her away and turned her towards the others, "Okay, so, I know I have multiple eyes, but why do I see so many of you."
"The bigger question is why do you have multiple eyes?!" Fighter Luz asked in shock.
"And pale skin!" Phoenix added.
"Well, I always have pale skin." Amity said.
"Not like that!?" Fighter said, "You're nearly gray!"
True to their words, this universe's Amity Blight had pale gray skin, multiple demon eyes, and fiery greenish red hair in her original style.
"Well, if you hate it SO much, I'll have you know that a psycho tried to turn me in a weapon to fight my girlfriend." Amity said, putting her hands on her hips. "He failed and I'm somewhat stuck like this but I have accepted this new form as my own."
"Honestly, I don't know when I started a demon collection." Avatar Luz said.
"I am not a collectible, I am a woman. Respect me or lose me." "Demon" Amity said to her.
"I know, I was just joking." Avatar Luz said before going back to healing Fighter Luz.
Fighter was able to get back up and looked at Phoenix.
"We need to go."
"I know, but are you sure?" Phoenix asked.
"I can heal anything left with my glyph, Athena takes high priority than my injuries." Fighter Luz said, rolling her shoulders.
"Alright, let's go." Phoenix said.
They waved the coven leaders, Belos, Demon Amity, and Avatar Luz goodbye before they activated their dimensional belts. A new portal opened and the suits covered their bodies before the duo walked into the portal.
'Let go of my hatred, huh?' Phoenix thought, thinking of the only thing stopping her from becoming a Thunder Bird.
It would be the hardest thing she'd ever do. Something she'll have to figure out how to do in another dimension.
