Luz Noceda ran out of things to say. It seemed like the Azura Book Club's booth was being ignored despite her best efforts. The only other club member was away and she could not ask her what else to do. Luz took a deep breath to go thru all of the catchphrases a little louder.
"Hi!" a loud greeting startled her.
She turned to see a slightly older student sitting on her palisman. She had long caramel hair and tanned skin. Her bright amber eyes and smile seemed very familiar to Luz. She smiled back, ecstatic to have a potential club member. "Hi, I'm Luz the human," she introduced herself.
"I know," she said while floating to the front of the booth. "Is this for a book club?"
"Yup, the Azura Book Club!" Luz proudly proclaimed.
The girl abruptly stopped her palisman and she jerked from her seat. Luz held out her hands up and said, "Careful, are you okay?"
"What did you just say?" she asked extremely surprised.
"The Azura Book club," Luz repeated herself. She handed a book to the student, "She's a good witch who fights for peace across the lands."
The girl stood in stunned silence staring at the book. Luz wasn't sure if she was a fan or not from her reaction. She became confused as she watched the girl slam the book on her head three times. She had no idea what to say. "Uh, are you…"
"It's nothing," the girl responded. The book was still planted on her face when she explained, "I just need to have a talk with my moms."
"Okay," this was awkward even for Luz.
However, she had an objective to do. "Are you a fan?" she stirred the conversation back to the book club.
"I never heard of this," she talked over the book.
"That's okay. You can borrow that & tell me if you like it later," suggested Luz.
Luz warmly smiled at the strange girl when she revealed her face. She couldn't help but smile back, "Okay, I'll give it a shot."
"Great!" Luz didn't contain her excitement. "We'll meet in the abomination ward at three! Wait, what's your name?"
"Uh…" she glanced down at the book, "Azi."
"It's nice to meet you, Azi"
"Are you running the club by yourself?" Azi asked.
Luz shook her head and answered, "No; it's me & Amity, my girlfriend."
Azi stared blankly at Luz for a few seconds, then smacked her head with the book again.
"Please stop doing that," Luz said in a caring tone.
"Okay –" Azi stopped herself from completing the retort. "Thanks for the book."
She hopped back on her palisman and flew away. Luz waved goodbye happy that she got a new club member.
