Hi!
How have you been since … last year? Oops …
I try to post a chap of each fic one after the other, so one of the reasons it takes so long is that between two chapters of Yang Branwen, I also write and post a chap of Being normal 101 and a chap of RSTQ (though I think I will only post on this one when I actually have idea).
I'm glad to see you guys agree with me on the cult thing, it's so big it would need it's own fic! Also, Robyn saying "I'm sorry, but it straight up sounds like a cult to me." had been in my head for months before I could finally use it n_n'
.
"… Then one day, you arrived, I heard your angel cry… Helpless, small, and perfect, welcome to your life …"
Because of the surrounding noise, no one really paid attention to Yang and her little song. The airship for Vale wasn't that full, but people were more interested in their own conversations than a young teenage girl peering out a porthole. She loved being in the sky, watching the clouds up close… She wished she could feel the wind in her hair too, but she was going to have to do without it… She missed that feeling so much…
A hand touched her shoulder, making her turn around.
"Don't worry, it will only be a few hours." Rook reassured her.
Yang nodded and leaned on her mentor's shoulder, who put an arm around her as a hug. The airship was taking them to Vale, along with Qrow and Oceane, who were a few seats ahead of them at the moment.
Yang felt bad for Qrow, she was happy that he left Ozpin's group, it meant he understood how much Ozpin was dangerous and couldn't be trusted, and now he wouldn't be taken in by his manipulations, he would be safe. It was good news. Yet, ever since they boarded the airship, Qrow looked tired, and sad, and Yang couldn't understand why until Rook explained it to her.
It was frustrating. Even after years, she had never realized the efforts her uncle was making for her, it had seemed normal to her that he would hide her from Ozpin, because he was dangerous and had made her mother suffer, who could trust someone like that? The answer, anyone in his group, including Qrow… Realizing that someone he believed in with all his heart had betrayed him, it must have hurt him, very badly, but he had endured it for her. And Yang had never paid attention to it, she had been unable to even notice it on her own, everything had to be explained to her, she had to be reminded that the world didn't revolve around her. Just like with Rook a few days earlier…
She had been selfish with everyone, her mentor, her uncle… They were all she had and they did so much for her, but she never thought about them and how her outbursts of anger could affect them… For years…!
She would never let that happen again!
The airship finally landed at Vale, and the two assassins walked out, taking care to avoid the other two members of their little group. If Ozpin had any suspicions about Qrow, then she should stay away from him in spaces he could be watching. And there weren't a lot of places on Remnant that weren't watched. Mantle was safe despite the cameras because Atlas never cared about them, but if she happened to be near any incident, she was done for. Anima was far too big to keep track of everything going on outside the capital at all times, but someone from Ozpin's group could easily find her by buying the right information from the right people. Vacuo was Vacuo, being a criminal wouldn't make her stand out much, but there too Ozpin had eyes everywhere, he had the Headmaster of Shade Academy, who probably had his own special team, like Beacon had STRQ and Haven had Oceane's team, whatever their name was, not to mention the risk of accidentally crossing the path of the Summer Maiden…
"Well, we have five hours before the train to the port." Rook said looking at the board that showed departures and arrivals, not just airships but also trains and buses.
These five hours of waiting in the heart of Vale really didn't reassure Yang. It was the place on Remnant that Ozpin watched the most, he could see her pass on a surveillance camera at any moment, she could accidentally bump into someone from his group, she could even bump into Summer, or worse, Tai. Just thinking about it…
"Hey." Rook grabbed her shoulders and forced her to look at her, "It's okay, just breathe."
Yang did as she was told and took several deep breaths, and felt her heart rate calm down. She hadn't even noticed that she was starting to panic, but it was to be expected, she was in Vale!
Luckily, she had Rook with her to calm her down, hold her hand when she felt her legs shaking, and bring her back to earth when her paranoia took over, while Qrow traveled to Beacon to distract Ozpin and announce his resignation. Yang was scared despite all their reassuring words, she was even terrified! But a little voice in her head told her that she had to trust them, so she would make an effort. A very big effort.
Besides, it was only for a few hours, right? After that she would be on the train to the southeast port of Sanus, where she would take the boat to Remnant's safest place for her. Menagerie.
It was definitely an Ozpin thing, he didn't care at all about places that didn't profit him in some way, and Menagerie had no Academy, no Relic, no Maiden, so why would he care, he who claimed to want to protect the whole world? Fucking hypocrite.
Yang followed Rook out of the airport, not letting go of her hand for a second, her eyes glued to the ground. Her jacket had sleeves large and long enough to hide her missing arm, Raven's sword was in a suitcase, and most of her hair was tucked under her jacket so her bright yellow hair wouldn't draw too much attention. If for some reason Ozpin was looking at the cameras, which he normally shouldn't, he would have no reason to notice her. That didn't stop her from expecting the worst… Should she do something about her hair? She really didn't want to, she liked her hair the way it was and she hated touching it for anything other than untangling it, even her mother had never tied it up without her permission.
But on the other hand, she really didn't want Ozpin to find her either, and she was in the heart of Vale for several hours… She had only been there for a few minutes and she could barely walk! She would never last that long!
"So what do you wanna do firecracker?" Rook asked him, "We've got five hours to kill without attracting attention, do you want to hang out in a park? Have some tea? I think there's an arcade nearby too."
Yang shivered, and looked around. There were a lot of people, anyone could report her to Ozpin, or the police, who would then go to Ozpin. She grabbed a lock of her bangs and held it in front of her eyes. Shiny bright yellow.
"The things I do to escape this old bastard…" she thought with a long sigh.
So far, Ozpin was having a good day. Classes were going well, the students weren't causing too much trouble, there was no disruption at Vale, Summer was recovering quickly surrounded by her family, and he hadn't heard any bad news about Salem. An ideal peaceful day.
That was why he had been so surprised to see a half-drunk crow suddenly swoop down through his office window and crash into the only chair in the room, which at the time was against the back wall.
"Ouch…" Qrow groaned as he turned back to his human form and rubbed his head. Alright, maybe more than half-drunk…
Ozpin came to help him up and moved the chair closer to his desk.
"I didn't expect to see you again so soon…" he said calmly despite his curiosity and concern.
"I know…" the Huntsman pulled out his gourd and probably drank more than it was supposed to contain. According to Summer, his drinking issues were getting worse, to the point that Ozpin was seriously considering forcing him to take a break from his missions to receive professional help.
"So, what brought you to my office?" Ozpin inquired.
Qrow opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out. For a long moment, he seemed to be searching for his words and trying to formulate his thoughts, agonizing a little more each time he failed.
Finally, he let out an annoyed groan, drank from his gourd again, and put it firmly on the desk, looking at Ozpin.
"I quit." he said in a firm tone that left no room for argumentation, as if he just wanted to end a discussion that had barely begun.
Ozpin was speechless for a moment, trying to take in what he had just heard. Qrow wanted to quit? Qrow?
"Why?" he asked in disbelief. His friend needed a break, no one would say otherwise, but quitting for good? Where did he get such an idea from? Had something happened to him recently?
"Because it's driving me crazy!" Qrow suddenly shouted, banging his fist on the desk, almost crushing his gourd and startling Ozpin, who hadn't expected such a burst of anger, "Do you realize that I have done absolutely nothing else of my life for almost fifteen years?! Fifteen fucking years of my life where I did nothing but missions! Mission, mission, mission! I stop by once every eight months to say hi to Sum and Ruby while Tai barely tolerates my existence!"
Silence fell in the office, disturbed only by Qrow's heavy breathing and the ticking above their heads. Ozpin hesitated for a moment to call ring Glynda in case the situation escalated, but decided against it. It was a discussion between Qrow and him. He then took a deep breath, and rested his elbows on his desk, his hands crossed in front of his chin.
"Qrow, I know it's not easy for you, especially since Raven died…" he began sadly. Although Qrow was probably hiding the Spring Maiden from him for reasons only he knew, he was still one of his most loyal allies, and seeing him in this state did not make him happy. "But we can't afford to let Salem take over. It may not seem like much, but all these missions you do around the world help us to keep her at bay, to force her to think twice before making the slightest move. If you need a break to clear your mind, I'd be more than happy to give it to you. But you are one of the best Huntsmen in the world Qrow. I need you by my side."
Without Qrow's "threat", Salem might be less hesitant to move forward with her plans. Of course, Ozpin could send someone else, Oceane for example was no longer looking for Cherry, and she wasn't too far from Qrow's level in combat, but she wasn't Qrow, she didn't have his contacts, his background in information networks, his spying abilities, and she wasn't as dangerous in Salem's eyes, although she was also an incredible fighter.
On the other hand, in his current state, Qrow wasn't much of a threat either. He had taken his sister's death much worse than Ozpin had thought, and the old man regretted not helping him sooner. When she died, Raven had already been out of her teammates' lives for over ten years, so he had expected their grief to end relatively quickly without him having to intervene. He had overlooked a slight detail, Qrow and Raven were twins, they had known each other literally since birth, they had grown up together, for over twenty years, and she had died in his arms. It would take more than a little time and space for him to recover from something like this…
Yet Ozpin had done nothing, he had been too focused on Summer and her daughter to see that one of his best friends really needed his support… He had let things escalate to the point where he wouldn't be surprised if Qrow tried to throw himself in front of a Beowolf. Fighting Salem took a lot of determination, if Qrow was willing to give up then maybe it was better he gave up here rather than surrounded by Grimm…
Even if the ideal would be that he does not give up.
"Listen, why don't you take a few days to sober up and think things over? After that, if you still want to quit, I won't stop you." It was the best compromise he could find. He needed Qrow by his side, but not if he tried to replace all of his blood with alcohol… With a little luck and some help from Summer, he could convince him to get the help he needed, then to resume service, it was the best outcome.
Qrow closed his eyes and seemed to be thinking, before shaking his head with a very annoyed face, as if trying not to think of something… or more likely someone…
"No." he said firmly as he stood up, "I've already thought about it. I quit." he started to stagger around the desk.
"Qrow-…" Ozpin tried to say, before the now empty gourd was violently thrown at his desk, letting small drops of alcohol splatter the papers.
"Leave me alone!"
Silence fell again as Ozpin stared in shock at the man who had been one of the most loyal allies he had ever had, and who was now staring at him with a look filled with anger and betrayal, his red eyes on the verge of tears. The same look he got from Raven so many years ago…
Ozpin sighed, he didn't know what had gone through Qrow's head to come to this. He tried to act with Raven and she left, he didn't act with Qrow and he was leaving too. Sometimes there was just no right answer, and all he could do was limit the damage, "I just wanted to ask you to use the elevator." he said simply. Bird or not, he wasn't going to let him jump out the window in that state.
Qrow seemed to understand what he meant, because he went back on his steps and picked up his gourd on the floor before walking without a word towards the elevator, his eyes staring at the floor and his shoulders shaking.
Once he was gone, Ozpin slumped back against the back of his chair, rubbing his eyes under his glasses. First Raven, and now Qrow… When he had welcomed them to Beacon, he had hoped he could give them a better life, the family they never had, a more noble purpose than what they had known, a way to redeem the lives they had taken in the past…
Where did he go wrong to make things turn so badly…?
"So how did it go?" Oceane asked worriedly, a hot coffee in her hands. Qrow wasn't as drunk when she let him near Beacon…
"Better than I thought…" he replied, trying to drink from his gourd, only to realize with frustration that it was empty and cracked.
"Which means?" she insisted.
"He tried to convince me to stay… so I yelled at him, and he let me go." he admitted.
Oceane paused with her cup in front of her lips, "You yelled at Ozpin? That was your plan?" she asked in disbelief.
Qrow had asked her to let him manage the discussion with Ozpin, if she had come with him the old man would have had suspicions, especially concerning the train incident.
"And how did you get so drunk in such a short time? I saw you not even thirty minutes ago." she asked with slight panic.
"If I hadn't been drunk he might have thought it had something to do with what happened on the train. Now at least, he thinks it's just that I'm sick of it." he explained, rubbing his eyes.
He wasn't wrong, Ozpin had his suspicions about the Spring Maiden, and rightly so. To pass off Qrow's decision as a consequence of his mental state was a good idea, no explanation to give, and believable because true. It would seem that the alcohol wasn't affecting his thinking skills as much as she thought…
"And how did you break your gourd?" she asked skeptically.
Qrow shrugged without answering her and took out his Scroll, "I'll tell Rook that we're good, Oz doesn't suspect a thing, they don't have to worry as long as the kid doesn't blow anything up." he said distractedly, typing a message.
"You're not gonna tell Summer?"
Qrow's hand froze for a moment, then he let out a deep tired sigh and continued to write without even looking at her. "Tell her what? That I'm pulling a Raven on them?"
"You really plan to never see them again? Even little Ruby?" Oceane asked, before immediately regretting it when she saw Qrow's face turn even paler than it already was. "Sorry, I shouldn't have said that…"
"It's okay… You're not wrong…" he reassured her, "I guess I'll send her a letter or something to explain it to her. Kids like to receive mail." he said in a flat, tired tone. He really needed to get out of there…
"So what do we do? The girls' train leaves in almost four hours and ours tomorrow morning." she said, drinking her coffee, which was now pretty cold.
"I don't know, there's not much more I can do here, I'll probably find myself a bench and wait there." he replied, raising his gourd to his lips by reflex, before remembering that it was empty.
Oceane closed her eyes, holding back another sigh, and said nothing. Qrow was in bad shape and he needed someone to take care of him, but now was not the time, she could wait until they were in Menagerie, away from Ozpin's eyes. Maybe she could ask Rook for help, Qrow trusted her and the girl too, and she was the one who realized their group was a cult.
Even if she had remained calm and didn't comment too much on this subject, Oceane's mind had also been blown by the revelation. She wasn't as close to Ozpin as Qrow was, she already had a home and a family, and she had had the normal life of someone who wanted to be a Huntress since childhood. She even had a small notoriety for having won tournaments. She wasn't looking to be a hero or gain power, she just wanted to do her job and help people. The old man didn't have much to give her that she either didn't already have or couldn't get on her own with a little effort. If she decided to leave the group, her life wouldn't change much.
That didn't mean she hadn't been affected to learn she was in a cult. On the contrary, it was terrifying to realize how normal letting someone control their every move was to them. If Ozpin told them to go on a mission, they went immediately, if he told them that someone was dangerous, they would arrest them, if he told them that they were making the right choice, they didn't question it. And the more control he had over someone's life, the closer those people would be to him. He had very little control over Oceane, and he only gave her missions from time to time unless she asked for it. He had complete control over every aspect of Qrow's life, his friends, his family, his free time, his missions… and he was his most faithful ally.
Maybe it was a good thing Raven asked him to take care of Falcon, since it was a now very important part of his life that Ozpin had no control over. But Qrow was no longer used to being in control, so he let himself slide, even in the wrong direction.
Oceane might not have been the most affected, but that didn't stop her from seeing the devastation Ozpin was causing.
Qrow's Scroll lit up, indicating that he had received a message, presumably from Rook. He opened it and took a look, before laughing. Yes, to laugh.
"I can see?" she asked. Qrow was so depressed for just a few seconds, so she really wanted to know what could cause such a reaction, even if she suspected that there was only one person who had this power.
Qrow calmed down a bit and showed her his Scroll, or more precisely the photo he had just received, and Oceane had to restrain herself with all her strength from spitting out her coffee.
Did Falcon… dye her hair purple?!
"Everyone knows the Burning Falcon is blonde" was written below the photo, along with a shrugging emoji and another crying with laughter.
Raven must have been rolling in her grave right now! But at least it had made Qrow smile, even laugh, when he had just made the most difficult decision of his life. Maybe it was a guardian angel that Raven had sent to him in the end, to watch over him now that she was gone. A very sensitive guardian angel, but a guardian angel anyway.
"Will you stop laughing at me?!" Falcon shouted, stomping her foot, which did nothing to stop Robyn's laughter. Her blonde hair was now a dark purple with a very slight tint of pink, and she had small purple stains on her ears from the dye.
To be honest, when her little apprentice had told her that she wanted to dye her hair, she didn't believed her. We were talking about Falcon, the girl who literally tried to kill anyone who as much as tried to touch her hair, who wouldn't let even people she trusted tie it up, even if it meant it would bother her for an entire mission. And now she wanted to dye it!
"Sorry, sorry…" she apologized, wiping away a tear, "I just really didn't expect this from you. But if it can reassure you, purple suits you very well." she added with a wink. It was true, purple looked great with her lilac eyes.
Falcon rolled her eyes as she always did, but Robyn saw the corner of her lips quiver. And one point for the purple hair! That said, she was still cuter in blonde.
As they walked quietly down the sidewalk, a group of armed teenagers, presumably Beacon students, passed by them, and Falcon began to tremble, clinging tightly to Robyn's arm and almost burying her face down in her clothes. Robyn said nothing and put her other hand on her shoulder to reassure her until the group had passed them.
As funny as her new hairstyle was, the reason why she decided to do it was quite sad. She was so afraid of Ozpin that she was willing to go so far as to potentially mess up her hair to hide from him. She would never have set foot in town without it, she would have stayed hidden in a bush for five hours, and even now, as soon as she was no longer distracted by something, she would get scared again and cling to her mentor's arm as if her life depended on it.
Ozpin. Robyn had never cared about him, he was a headmaster like any other, he had a certain reputation but since she didn't attend Beacon, she had never paid attention to him. But now she knew who he was, what he had done… and why Falcon was so afraid of him. After all, what child wouldn't be afraid of the person their mother warned them about since they were little? This guy was leading a cult that secretly controlled the world, this scenario sounded like something out of a movie, and yet it was true. And dangerous. It didn't matter if he was a "good guy", if saying no to him was seen as an act of betrayal, it was better to stay away. And keep kids away.
Without going so far as to say that becoming a bandit was a good idea, Robyn could only admire Raven Branwen's determination when she left their cult to protect her baby, especially knowing that she had no support from anyone around her. When she saw how badly Qrow was doing, she couldn't even imagine what it must have been like for Falcon's mother when she had to raise a newborn baby and lead a tribe all at the same time. Much like Robyn right now, she had refused to join the army when she graduated top of her class, and instead became a criminal, because protecting Mantle was most important to her. That and keeping Falcon from exploding. Or implode, matter of perspective.
"We all need therapy…" she thought.
As the girls walked through the streets of Vale, Robyn stopped in front of a bookstore, a small idea popping into her head. Falcon had never shown any interest in reading, but the journey to Menagerie would be pretty long, far longer than the three and a half hours they had left to wait. Also, there was one type of book in particular that could help them.
"Wanna take a look?" she offered to Falcon, gesturing toward the shop.
The purple-haired teen shrugged, and followed her inside.
The place wasn't very well lit, probably so customers wouldn't just read the books there and not buy them, but it looked well stocked.
"Hello." the owner greeted them, leaning on the counter on the other side of the store, "Welcome to the Tukson's Book Trade, home to every book under the sun! How can I help you?" he asked smiling. He looked nice.
"Hello, I'm looking for something that could keep a grumpy teenager busy during a very long travel. Got any ideas?" Robyn asked, completely ignoring Falcon's raised middle finger when she called her a grumpy.
The man thought for a moment, then pointed to the books near the door, "I've got comics over there, it's a quick read but it keeps your head busy for a while. I also have detective novels, love stories, and fantasy sagas." he offered.
"That's a lot of choice, we should find something in that." Robyn said smiling, then turned to Falcon, "What do you think firecracker? Is there something that interests you?"
Falcon shrugged and shuffled towards the comics.
"Is she always so enthusiastic?" the manager asked amused.
"You have no idea." Robyn replied with a laugh.
"Ah, teenagers… They're less and less interested in reading, at this rate I'm going to have to close up shop." he complained.
"Don't be so pessimistic, you still have older customers. Or kids, I saw you have a section of toddler books. If they get intrested when they're young, they'll come back when they're older." she reassured him.
"You're right." he said with a happier mood, "So, do you need anything else?"
"Oh, I'm also looking for something for a friend… that might sound a little weird…"
The girls came out of the bookstore with a dozen comics, and a book wrapped as a gift.
"We still have quite a bit of time before the train, what do you wanna do?" Robyn asked again.
"Why are you asking me? I don't know the city." Falcon pointed out. The 'and I don't want to know it' could be read in her eyes.
"I know." Robyn stopped and put a hand on Falcon's head. A few weeks ago, she would have risked losing her arm by doing that, but instead she saw Falcon's shoulders relax slightly. "But with everything that's happened in the last few days, you need to relax, to do something else in your free time than train and sit around torturing your brain. I worry about you you know?"
Falcon looked at her with wide eyes, then lowered her head in shame. "Sorry …"
"Don't apologize for that." Robyn reassured her, ruffling her purple hair, "Tell me what you feel like doing, even if it seems silly or useless. If it makes you smile, that's all that matters."
This time Falcon nodded, a small smile on his lips, and took Robyn's hand as they continued to walk, like a child. "I'd like to go see a movie at the cinema…"
"Horror movie?"
"Obviously."
Qrow stared out of his hotel room window with a blank stare.
He could see the sun setting on the harbor side, which meant that Rook and Yang were on the train to the southeast port and then to Menagerie.
It reassured him to know that the kid would soon be out of danger. He would have liked to be with her, but with his Semblance… No, it was just an excuse, he knew it well. He had been putting her in danger with or without Semblance, it was already because of him that they were there. And now he had even managed to get Oceane and Rook involved in his problems.
Oceane was out doing some shopping at the moment, she had to buy a couple of things to help Yang train with her powers. He hadn't even thought about it, he had left Yang to fend for herself with her magic, as if she wasn't a ten-year-old child who had just been given superpowers when she was in a worse mental state than him. Yet he knew enough about the Maidens to at least give her some advice, he knew for example that changing the weather was very expensive in energy, he knew that solid elements like ice or rock could be used to make weapons, he also knew that magic didn't need Aura to work. It wasn't a lot and Yang probably knew all that by now, but she had to find out by herself when he could have just told her. Oceane would be a much better teacher than him.
And Rook. She had taken Yang under her wing without question, and she had agreed to work with Qrow to protect her without even knowing what was going on, when it would have been completely normal for her to refuse. Instead she had cooperated at her own risk, and she had been like a second mother to Yang, when he couldn't even manage to be a good uncle. Even now, she was the one with her on the train while he was in a hotel room miles away from them, she was the one who didn't need to be introduced by Raven to gain the girl's trust, she was the one who immediately saw through Ozpin's manipulations and understood Raven's point of view when she never even met her.
And then there was Qrow, who was responsible of Yang, who promised to protect and care for her, then immediately broke that promise and left all the work to someone else. And here was the result.
Qrow pulled a photo from his pocket, a photo he kept with him at all times along with the one of his team. In this photo, a very young Yang was hugging a Raven with dark circles under her eyes, but a soft, warm smile on her lips, just like her daughter. It was probably the only photo of them that existed, and he would treasure it until he died.
He wouldn't make that mistake again. The second he arrived at Menagerie, he would catch up, hang out with Yang, help her train, get to know her for good, tell her about her mother, all those things he should have done so much earlier. He no longer had Ozpin behind him to keep him away from her, he no longer had any excuse, and he didn't intend to find one.
"Sorry Ruby, but Yang needs me more."
And we're done with a short stop in Vale.
Yes. Yang dyed her hair purple. I know what you're thinking, "there's no way Yang would do something like that, she cares to much about her hair", but that's the point, it shows how badly she's scared of Ozpin and how far she's ready to go to hide from him. Also, she doesn't have the same connection with the color yellow as she does in the show, here not only did she grow up looking up to Raven instead of Tai, but she also never really cared about color scheme, she barely cares about style in general. As for the color purple, I needed something dark, but black would make her look too much like Raven, brown was boring, and other colors like green or red made no sense, and since she already had lilac eyes I thought it would be cool.
About Ozpin, he was hard to write, because at this point of the story, everything is going well around him, Salem isn't doing anything yet, nothing happens at Beacon, and as far as he knows, the train incident had nothing to do with the Spring Maiden. So when Qrow quits out of the blue, he's just baffled, and with a character like him, it's hard to write …
As for Tukson, I just wanted the girls to go in a bookstore and since he had one?
Now our little group is heading for Menagerie, because it's the only place on Remnant Oz doesn't give a shit about. I still don't know exactly what I'll do concerning the White Fang, on one hand it's the perfect occasion to introduce it to the story, but on the other, I don't want Yang to arrive at Beacon having a connection with everyone, she's Ruby's sister, she's met Ren and Nora, she's met Pyrrha's cousin, she knows Neptune's aunt, she knows Mercury ... I think it becomes boring when the main character is already friend with everyone from the start so I try to avoid that, that's why I didn't use the "Adam was trained by Raven" theory, even though it would've been cool to see him and Yang be childhood friends, I can totally imagine them fighting for Raven's attention as the only kids in the camp and saying it's the other's fault when they get scolded ... Who's on board for an OS ?
And concerning Qrow's gourd ... You know, I feel extremelly stupid right now. See, when I started writing, I didn't know what that thing was called, even in french, so I went with "gourde", which google translated as "gourd", "canteen", "bottle" ... And I only found out a month ago that it was called a "flasque" in french and a "flask" in english ... 1) "flasque" can also mean flabby or limp, 2) most of the time when I read a fic in english, I use google translate on the page, and it translates "flask" as "ballon" which means "balloon", how the fuck was I suppose to know ?! So I made Qrow break his gourd, so that he could get a flask.
