Peter ended up meeting with Liz at the Daily Bugle, as she was the chief editor who was working there. The doves and even there sitting on the flowers as Liz was showing her affection to Peter with kisses. Giselle was mostly wandering around with the supervision of Robert, who was keeping her out of trouble.
"I love them so much," Liz comments as she looked over to the flowers.
"Really?" Peter had to admit he was surprised she was so forgiving, especially after this morning.
"Yeah, these are so exquisite." Liz comments and looks over the flowers. "Where do you find live doves in New York City? I mean, how much did this all cost?"
Peter chuckled and knew that was quite a story. "Oh, it's a long story."
"And these?" Liz looked at the tickets that Peter decided to surprise her with from Tony. He figured that it could be the best way to apologize to go with the flowers. "Oh! We're going to a ball?"
"You don't have to. If you don't wanna..." Peter didn't want to make her seem like she needed to.
"Are you kidding me?" Seemed like Liz was sold on it. "It's so romantic. Not to mention when will be the next time I get to meet Tony Stark in real life?"
Peter chuckled through his teeth. "You'd be surprised."
Liz just held the invitation close and smiled. "I can't wait."
"Good. Great." Peter was happy to see they had made up. "And...as far as Giselle's concerned, I'm just trying to help her. Nothing's-"
Liz however stopped him from going further, placing a finger to his lips. "Listen. If you say nothing happened, nothing happened. I trust you."
Peter froze and wasn't sure where to really go from here. "So tomorrow night, then?"
"Definitely," Liz confirmed and kissed him.
"Okay, how did that happen?" Peter asks Giselle as they were now walking their way down the street.
"How did what happen?" Giselle didn't seem to understand the question.
"I mean, you went from a walking disaster to the answer to the problems," Peter explains to her. "I mean, you're like a Parker Luck charm."
"What's...what's Parker Luck?" Giselle only seemed to get further lost.
"It's just this thing between the family," Peter explains to her. "Our life balances through a lot of good things that happen and bad things to happen in our lives. In this example, in my attempt to help you, I ended up having rodents in my home, Liz gets mad at me, and you used my curtains for a dress. Now, this would be the other end of the Parker Luck, things somehow worked out with Liz and I...well, I worked out the anger with the dress."
But as they were walking down the streets, something snapped and Peter's senses suddenly went off. He had to admit, this was the longest that they have gone without going off. He then started to look around and wondered what was going on now.
An explosion went off as Peter quickly covered Giselle to protect her from what was happening as everyone tried to save themselves. Peter stuck his head out from shielding Giselle as he looked to see what was happening.
That was a metallic claw that came out of the hole in the building and Peter then watched as another metallic claw came out of the hole. Then two more came from the roof and grabbed onto the outside wall and he recognized the man from anywhere.
Peter was shocked when he saw the man attached to the claws leave the building, two giant bags of money (who does that anymore!?) in his hands. "Doctor Octavius?"
Doctor Octopus was tall in height and very pale, due to the fact that he was stuck in a cell for years. He has long black combed-back hair and wears red goggles. He wears a gray scientist suit, and around his stomach, he wears a mechanical device with four octopus arms attached to it.
"Where, oh, where is Spider-Man?" Octavius was expecting him to show up sooner than this.
Then Peter tried to back away with Giselle, who was getting a little confused about what was happening when the police showed up. They all took aim, none of them wanting to take any chances against the man.
"Hands up!"
"Gladly," Octavius said as he raised all of them. "But...which hands?"
Then before anyone could even figure out what was happening, he shielded himself with three hands and sent one out into the crowd. Just as Peter was talking about Parker Luck this is where it shines at its brightest. Giselle is instantly wrapped up in the arm and tried to grab into Peter. He tried to keep her with him, but Octavius' arms are too strong, and he couldn't use his strength against it and risk his identity.
Giselle was dragged closer toward Octavius as he knew the cops wouldn't open fire on her. And it was correct, considering the moment that she got close to him, that was when the officers held back.
"Nobody follows me, or the girl dies," Octavius warns the cops and took off, crawling up the buildings.
Peter quickly ran down the street as he escaped the chaos of the scene and ripped his shirt open. Revealing that he was wearing his Spider-Man suit underneath it for just an emergency.
Octavius continued to climb up the side of the building, Giselle only whimpering and a few shrieks of terror from here and there every few moments. But that was when Peter came swinging and landed on the building right above them. This was the first time Giselle had laid eyes on the hero, and she had to say she was surprised at what she was seeing.
"Hand her over!" Peter wasn't going to allow this monster to harm an innocent girl like Giselle.
"Of course." Octavius started to raise his arm holding Giselle.
Peter reached his hand out to try and grab her gently. "Easy now."
Giselle sighed in relief as she held her hand out to Peter. "Oh, thank you!"
Peter didn't even care about Otto right now, he just wanted to make sure Giselle was okay. He could get Otto back another day sooner or later, and he needed to find out how he even escaped without him knowing. First Scorpion now Octopus? Feels like his enemies are taking turns going up against him after breaking out of prison.
But just before Peter grabbed Giselle's hand, Octavius dropped her, sending Giselle falling. "Butterfingers."
Peter didn't even try and make a quip after that and just wanted to rescue Giselle. He shot a web out to grab Giselle and yank her upward, allowing her to grasp onto a ledge. Octavius worked fast and slammed Peter into the building as he was distracted. Peter was then yanked off the wall, sending tons of bricks and rubble falling from above. Luckily everyone had the common sense to run and avoid the area that was standing below them. Octavius ended up dropping the money bags and sent coins of gold falling everywhere in the process.
"Help!" Giselle cried in terror.
Peter ducked as he avoided another attack from one of Otto's other hands. "Hang on!"
He couldn't believe how many times he had to rescue this girl who was clinging die dead life. Webbing the man in the face, Peter slammed Otto's head into his fist, causing him to grow dizzy and Peter a chance to escape his grasp. Crawling up the side of the building, he tried his best to save Gisele before she could lose her grip. She didn't exactly have the best luck when it came to hanging on for long. But when he climbed up two stores, he was latched onto by another one of Otto's tentacles and was yanked backward.
Otto spun himself, and at the same time Peter, and slammed him into a glass window, shattering it and injuring Peter. Otto how we got close enough to Peter that he managed to fight back by kicking the man, sending them both falling. Rolling down the side of the building with the tentacles constantly trying to attack them, Peter managed to pin Otto to the wall and punched him again and again.
But Otto wasn't going to let this go easy as he lets the wall go and they were sent falling again, gaining a little too much distance between them and Giselle. If she were to fall, Peter wasn't sure he was going to be able to save her. But right now he needed to worry about saving himself as the two gained distance from the building.
Otto sprung one of his tentacles to latch the building, causing a whiplash between the two, and slammed them into the building. Peter ended up hitting the building head on and Otto swapped places to smash him into the building before flinging him away. Peter was sent screaming across the sky before he slammed into the building across from them. He rolled backward as he smashed into some office desks and groaned in pain.
Giselle however managed to fall and land on a ledge by the time she let go. She let out a small sigh of relief, happy she was able to survive, and was a little surprised she didn't need help from someone else to rescue her. But it was short-lived when Octavius grabbed her and pulled her around a tentacle.
Peter heard Giselle scream and jumped back up, ignoring the anger from the people in the building. "Oh, no."
"You've stuck your webs in my business for the last time, Spider-Man!" Octavius tells Peter. "Now you'll have this woman's death on your conscience!"
Peter wasn't going to allow that to happen he backed up, shooting two webs at the same time to build up speed. Octavius was watching and smiling when he saw that things were going according to his plan. Peter flung himself to make the distance between the buildings much quicker. He didn't even register his senses alerting him something was wrong.
Octavius created a spear from his claws and was ready to impale the hero. Giselle shrieks when she saw the spear and saw what he was going to do.
"Oh, my!" Giselle didn't know what to do and saw how close the hero was getting to him.
Grabbing a piece of the debris that landed near her, she used it at the last second. When Peter realized what was happening, he was already too close to make any difference. But luckily with Giselle interfering by hitting him over the head, it went Otto off balance, causing his spear to miss Peter. That allowed Peter to use the claw to his advantage and jump off of it and land on the wall. With that in mind, he was planning to get back at Otto, but the attack cause Otto to push his claw holding Giselle and letting her go plummeting.
Peter decided to just let Otto go as he was paying attention to save Giselle. "I got you!"
Peter shoots two webs to latch onto Giselle's shoulders and yanked himself faster to grab her. He wrapped his hands around her and shot out a web to use their momentum to swing away from the scene. With the innocent out of the way, Otto grabbed what he could for money before the police opened fire on him. Luckily his arms shielded him as he managed to crawl and make his escape.
Giselle shrieked and yelped as Peter swung her to a secluded location to let her down and knew he could change anywhere to find her. She let out a sigh of relief as she was put back down on the ground and Peter looked her over for injuries. Something he has recently gotten into doing for a lot of people; the Avengers like to joke saying it's just his dad's side showing.
"You okay?" Peter asks her.
"Oh, yes, thank you so much for saving me, Peter," Giselle said with a sigh as she hugged him.
Peter however froze when he heard his name. "Uh, who?"
Giselle broke off and looked him over. "That is you, isn't it, Peter? You certainly don't sound any different."
Peter just looked completely confused and chuckled. Wherever she came from, seemed she was more observant than most. He removed his mask and gave a blushing smile. He wasn't sure where he was going to go with this, but he needed to explain to this girl that he needs to keep this a secret from the rest of the world.
"Well...That's Parker Luck for you." Peter commented with a chuckle. "We've got some things to discuss."
Octavius made it back to his laboratory where he got a call on his computer system. He already got some use out of the money, already knowing what he needed to use the money for when he stole it.
"I take it that you have the pieces?" The caller asks.
"Of course, Doom." Octavius told Victor Von Doom from Latveria. "We should have reframed from giving Gargan back his gear too early. Now we have to make up for his absence or plan an escape attempt for him."
"Too much of our resources has gone into his suit for it to be wasted. Get it back. Just prepare the gear for our soon-to-be guests."
"On it." Octavius nodded as he was getting to work.
