3rd Person (P.O.V)

Shane Walsh drove away from the hospital with a heavy heart, having to leave his brother Rick behind who is in a coma. All he could do was make sure his brother's family was safe.

Shane drove straight to his home needing to pick up what he could as well as a few momentos he refused to leave. Honestly, to him the momentos are important as it's all he has of his Mia.

How he wished with it being the end of the world they could have been together. He still doesn't understand what happened. Everything had been going well between them when she suddenly disappeared only leaving a letter.

Even though it's been over five years he never gave up on her, hoping she would return still to this day. It hadn't happened even if he tried moving on he couldn't there was no one like her to him.

Shane pulled up to his two bedroom home with his gun in his hand. Luckily his place wasn't too far from the police station. Something told him this was the beginning of the end, and he needed to be prepared.

Screams could be heard throughout the neighborhood. Shane hurried into the house grabbing two duffel bags from his closet, packing one with clothes and Momentos from his time with Mia, including a Dagger, she had gifted him. She had said it was a family heirloom but never told him the story behind it only that she had the other as they were a pair.

The other duffel bag was packed with whatever food and drinks Shane had in his kitchen. Within 10 minutes of entering the house he was already in his car driving towards the station.

Shane parked around back of the station, going in with his personal key, he entered the small armory, taking a fourth of what he could. He was trying to be practical as he didn't know if at some point they were going to have to be on the move by foot.

Getting the weapons he could took another five minutes before Shane was heading towards Rick's place. He had called Lori on the way to make sure she packed what she could.

Pulling into his brother's home Shane couldn't between the chaos he saw on his way. He saw people eating each other bodies on the ground. With the engine on, he close the door to his car, running up the steps he barged into the house.

"Lori, Carl". Shane called out.

"Shane". Carl yelled running down the stairs. "Mom wouldn't tell me what going on". Carl said confused as his mother was packing two bags.

Shane got down on one knee, looking straight into Carl's eyes. "Something bad is going on right now bud, we have to head to Atlanta". Shane said not trying to scare him.

"Shane we have to get Rick". Lori called out rushing down the stairs.

"Carl why don't you go get some of your comic books it's going to be a bit of a drive". Shane said urging Carl up the stairs. As much as he didn't want to Carl listen to Shane.

"Shane did you hear me". Lori said in irritation. Shane honestly didn't care much for the woman, but knew his brother love her so he tolerated her for Rick and Carl sake.

"Yes Lori I heard you. I just came from the hospital the military took over they started killing everyone inside I barely got away, I'm sorry". Shane said devastated it wasn't far from the truth.

Lori eyes widen as tears filled her vision. She threw herself into Shane arms taking him by surprise as she cried, clinging to his shirt he awkwardly patted her back.

"Everything is going to be alright Lori, but we really have to get moving". She said as he lightly pushed her away, calling out for Carl, who came running down the stairs.

Lori made Shane uncomfortable sometimes, she was unbearable for some reason during his relationship with Mia. Always making comments and being a bit over friendly with him.

Shane had spoken to Rick during his relationship about Lori but his brother asked him to drop it. He didn't want to break up his family as they had a six year old son together.

Shane shook his head, grabbing the two bags Lori had he rushing them out of the house into his car. He drove out of their small town of Kings County with a heavier heart, as he had to leave his brother behind to protect his family.

Shane last thoughts as he drove towards Atlanta was hoping Mia was alright.
