*This Omake is NOT canon. It asks the Questions: "What if Deku was excited that his Dad was coming home?"

*Takes place during Ch.37 The Return.

Omake: He's Returning?!

Izuku Midoriya is fidgeting at his desk, he's antsy as he watches the clock tick away just before the end of the school day.

All around him his classmates are getting ready to go as well, wrapping up their day with little conversations while they pack their bags.

A smiling Tenya Iida approaches Izuku. "You appear to be in high spirits, Midoriya."

"I am."

"Care to share?"

"Absolutely." Izuku grins, more than happy to share as he happily declares. "My Dad's coming into town and we're going out to dinner tonight."

Tenya's smile washes away immediately becoming stern. "Why you going to dinner with him? He hasn't visited you in ten years."

Izuku's smile falters, taken back by Tenya's sudden displeasure. "Yeah, he's busy." He defends. "He's an agent for the Japanese Self-Defense Force."

Tenya raises an eyebrow. "He's stationed in Japan then."

"He works internationally." Izuku corrects.

"Pft. Yeah, maybe China or Hawaii."

Izuku shakes his head in disbelief. "What is going on here? What's your problem with my Dad?"

Tenya sighs before being upfront with his friend. "I'm just being wary. He left you when you were five and he's been letting us down ever since."

Izuku pauses. "Us?"

"I think of you as a brother, Midoriya. As well as every member of class 1-A. Since I am the Class President it is my duty to watch over you all like you were my own kin!" He slams his karate-chopping hands down onto the desk. "So, he didn't just abandon you, he abandoned us."

Tenya's loud yelling and the slamming of his hands caught the attention of the rest of the class.

Especially of Kaminari who was passing by and heard the tail end of the conversation. "Who abandoned who now?!" He gasps way too loudly, worried for his classmates.

His shouting catches the rest of the class' attention. They all turn to see what's going on.

Izuku immediately tries to diffuse the situation. "Nobody abandon-"

Tenya quickly cuts him off and explains out loud. "Midoriya's estranged father is returning to Japan!"

The entire class gasps in shock. Some even paling as their hearts go out for Midoriya.

"Iida!" Izuku scolds, betrayed.

"Your old man walked out on you!" Kirishima begins to tear up. "That's so unmanly…" He sniffs trying and failing to hold back his tears.

Izuku panics, trying to wave away their worries. "No! No! He didn't walk out. His work just pulled him away."

Mina's horns twitch. She frowns, cupping her chin as she gives Izuku a very suspicious look. "Hmmmm."

She's not the only one who's suspicious, however.

Shoto frowns, eyeing Izuku critically. "So, do you know why he's back now?"

Izuku tries to shrug off the worries with a smile. "To see me, duh!"

Shoto's frown deepens as his eyes narrow. "You said you were a late bloomer, right?"

"Yeah…" Izuku's confidence drops for a moment as he eyes the Omnitrix, he shakes the doubt away before turning back to Shoto. "Why do you ask?"

Shoto shrugs. "I have my concerns."

In the background, Mina is still watching the greenette suspiciously. "Hmmmm."

Izuku sheepishly tries to laugh it off but his laugh falters as the doubt begins to set in.

"Come on guys!" Ochaco rushes to her friend's side. "This is a good thing! Don't ruin it for him. Parents have to work almost twenty-four-seven for their families. I've seen it!" She has ever since she was little there were days, she had to fend for herself cause her parents were at work.

Tsuyu also chimes in. "I'm with them. I have to watch my little siblings for days when my parents are out of town for work, kero."

Ochaco nods, grateful for her input. "So Deku's Dad should at least be given a chance!"

Izuku claps his hands. "Thank you!" He laughs.

Sitting just in front of him, Bakugou nonchalantly leans back in his seat and without a care he casually throws this out for the group to hear. "The bastard hasn't been home in ten years."

…

"WHAT!?" The entire class cries out in outrage!

Well, except for Shoto. "I'm jealous. I wish my old man would disappear for that long."

"Hmmmm!" Mina's even more suspicious!

Even Ochaco's is flustered and worried as she repeatedly slams her hands down onto Deku's desk. "He's at least reached out to you, right?!"

"Duh!" Izuku confirmed with a smile. "We've stayed in contact."

Tenya leans in, still worried. "So, you two talk frequently, yes?"

Izuku…hesitates to answer. "...We, um, send letters."

Nearly the whole class gasps. "Letters?!"

Izuku becomes offended by their reaction. "What?! Letters are nice, they're so sentimental."

Tokoyami shakes his head, disappointed and saddened. "A child that never hears their parent's voice nor sees their face. A true tragedy."

"Hmmmm!" Mina's suspicion grows!

Kaminari is in so much shock right now. "Why doesn't he call or Facetime you?!"

"He works for the Self-Defense Force!" Izuku defends. "He can't afford to give away his position!"

Mina continues with her suspicions. "Hmmmm! Hmmmm! Hmmmm!"

Aoyama's eyes sparkle dangerously as he proposes another dangerous reason. "Or perhaps," he shoots out of his seat with a wave of his arms, trying to add some dazzle to the drama. "he's hiding something he doesn't want you to see."

Izuku doesn't get it, shaking his head. "What?"

"I'm afraid to tell you mon amie but your father," Aoyama points an accusing finger and declares in dramatic fashion. "must have had an affair and started another family in secret!"

The class looks ready to explode with more theories and concerns, but Izuku beats them all to the punch. "NO! That's not it! My Dad loves us too much to do that."

Even Hagakure's having her doubts about this. "Are you sure?"

"Y-yes."

Jiro, suspicious, pipes up from the back of the room. "Does he send you guys Christmas Cards?" Her eyes narrow as she adds. "With photos?"

Izuku is about to answer but then he hesitates before answering with a sad frown. "Only letters."

"Aoyama was right!" Hagakure screams.

"How despicable." Momo gasps. "Why would a father do such a thing?"

Jiro scoffs. "Men."

"So unmanly…" Kirishima cries.

"Midoriya!" Tenya screams. "You have to confront this man immediately! Stand up to him!

"So, then…" Shoto becomes even more suspicious yet curious. "Does that mean Midoriya has a secret brother he doesn't know about?" Maybe he should investigate it?

"HMMMMMM!" Mina's eyes are as wide as plates as her suspicions grow explode!

Izuku shouts, trying to reign them in. "Guys! Guys!"

They all settle down enough for him to speak.

Izuku sighs and tries his best to be upfront. "Okay I know he hasn't been the best dad in the past, but he's changed." he pulls out his phone. "Check it out we've been texting." And he shows the class their latest messages.

Tenya squints as leans in and reads it aloud. "New phone who dis?"

"No! Below that."

"Oh."

"Look!" Izuku smiles as he reads the message. "See he's coming into town just to see me."

The class is still unsure, especially Mina. "Hmmmm!"

Izuku however waves away their worries and tries to stay positive, becoming more and more excited as he thinks about tonight. "Alright, we're gonna go to dinner tonight, then maybe take a walk through the park or possibly a carriage ride. If I get chilly, he can loan me his coat. I'm describing a date. I don't know what fathers and sons do but I'm gonna find out!" And with that and not wanting to lose this excitement Izuku snatches up his bag and takes off for the exit.

Class 1-A remain still and silent watching him leave with concern written all over their faces.

Sero turns to his classmates just to check that they're all thinking the same thing. "So, we all agree that this is gonna end badly, right?"

The class don't even try to hide their concerns.

"Oh, yeah!"

"Absolutely."

"No doubt."

"Sadly yes."

"Cool." Sero nods, his worries growing. "At least we're on the same page."

Well in the meantime they should get the mops and buckets ready for the flood of tears that are sure on the way. And maybe they should stop by and get Midoriya a gift to help cheer him up. Yeah, that'll definitely work. What's the worst that could happen?
