*This Omake is canon.
Omake: Bullseye
For today Class 1-A's training is taking place in one of U.A's smaller facilities. This one being an indoor shooting range of some sorts, the layout is that of a cardboard urban environment, which appears to be emulating the feel of a city's back-alley way or rather the rougher neighborhoods as it were.
And to greet them is Snipe alongside an uninterested Aizawa who's dozing off beside him. "Welcome, Class 1-A to your first Firearm Safety Training."
The entire class immediately erupts into an outroar of questions, concerns, and nerves. Each one of them firing off questions with no regard to order.
"Firearms?"
"Are we really gonna shoot a gun?"
"I want something cool, like a Desert Eagle!"
"Sir, is this really appropriate for high school students such as ourselves?!"
"I don't think it is appropriate either. Kero."
"Yeah, I'm sitting this one out?"
"Why do I need a gun when I'm way stronger than any old peashooter?!"
Snipe can't keep up, nearly folding under all their fire. "Hey! We're shooting guns, not our mouths! Sheesh, let me finish talking next time."
Hidden amongst his classmates, Izuku Midoriya chuckles sheepishly on his classmates' behalf. "Hehehe…" He can't blame them though, he's kinda hesitant about all this too.
Snipe shakes it off and continues. "Anyway, the point of this training is to have you all become familiar with proper gun safety, use, and disarmament." Snipe turns to his co-worker to continue the lesson.
Aizawa obliges, addressing the class. "In this day and age Villains usually default to using their Quirks but that's not always the case. Weapons like blades, bombs, and, yes, guns still manage to popup every now and again. And as you all become heroes you will undoubtedly encounter those who wield any of these weapons; especially firearms."
Izuku frowns, pondering. 'They're right. Although rare, there are villains who choose to wield a gun alongside their Quirks.' The thought makes Izuku shiver. 'Talk about a dangerous combo."
Snipe nods in agreement. "Exactly. Now we're not saying you yourselves need a gun to defend yourselves. Rather you need to know the proper safety procedures, storage, and most importantly how to disarm a villain with an itchy trigger finger."
The students frown nervously to each other, uncertain at the prospect of dealing with a firearm much less holding one.
"Now let's begin the lesson." Snipe draws his pistol, giving it a spin around his finger before catching it. "And if you all behave, I promise we'll do something fun."
The lesson went well overall, some students refused to touch the gun outright but that didn't land them in any trouble. Snipe was more than okay with their decision and didn't force any more of them. He simply asked for them to listen and watch. But he did insist that they participate in the disarmament portion of the lesson, which they did.
As for the disarmament portion of the class most of the class took a minute to really get the moves down. Well except Uraraka who really picked up on the moves quickly.
And when Aizawa felt that everyone had it down, Snipe took it upon himself to give the class a little treat.
"A promise is a promise, so…" Snipe waves, gesturing for them to gather before the cardboard city. "Now, who's ready for a test?!"
"EHHHH!?" The class roar in outrage.
"A test?!"
"No fair!"
"Sir, although I understand the value of learning under pressure, this is highly irresponsible of you!"
Snipe tries his best to calm them down. "Now, now! This test isn't for a grade or nothin." It's more of an exercise to see how well you can use a firearm. Besides, it'll be fun!"
The class eventually settles down allowing Snipe to continue.
"So, this is how this test's gonna work. Everyone's gonna have a chance to fire a gun, specifically this one." Snipe drops a case of pistols onto the small table before the shooting range. "We do these in pairs of seven. And each group will have one minute to shoot their targets. Be sure to take this time to get used to how a gun feels and fires as well as how to aim it."
The students are actually becoming somewhat excited. This might be fun, although a good portion of them still have their reservations.
"Keep in mind that for this test we will be aiming to assess your skills and judgement."
Izuku pauses at that. 'Judgement?'
Meanwhile, Aizawa lingers in the back of the group, watching on with critical silence.
Snipe calls out. "Alright first group, step forward! Pick up a pistol and wait for the signal."
And so, the first group to be called forward are as follows: Izuku, Bakugou, Shinso, Mina, Hagakure, Iida, and Shoto.
And so, after putting on safety glasses, gloves, and earmuffs the seven students are handed one of Snipe's pistols.
Hagakure hangs the pistol between two of her fingers. "Um, is this safe?"
"Not to worry." Iida grips his pistol with such intensity and stiffness he looks like a heroic cyborg wielding a signature firearm. "As long as you remember our safety training you will be just fine."
"Yeah, no sweat." Mina smiles, adjusting the pistol in her hand trying to find the coolest way to hold it. "This might be fun. It's like we're Action Movie Stars."
"Hehe. Shinso snickers, holding his gun up for inspection. "Then after this, you all can just start calling me John Wick."
"HA!"
Meanwhile, Bakugou grins psychotically at the shooting range.
"I'm gonna destroy this stupid exercise." He scowls down at his puny pistol. "This pistol's too small! AHH! Where's the machine gun?! Give me something with some kick behind it, dammit!"
"Ha…haha…" Izuku laughs sheepishly from the side, gripping the pistol with both hands.
Shoto frowns at Bakugou. "I don't think that's a good idea."
Izuku jols as Bakugou turns his red eye glare towards them. "What did you say?!"
Izuku quickly tries to intervene. "He did-"
"I said you're too unstable to have a machine gun."
Izuku sweat drops as Bakugou loses his top.
But before things could escalate, Snipe interrupts from the back of the facility along with the rest of Class 1-A and Aizawa. "Is everyone ready?"
The group of seven step up to the white line, where they all silently give Snipe the go ahead.
"Alright beginning the simulation in 3…2…1."
*BEEEEEEEP!*
And with the alarm blaring the cardboard city explodes into chaos with flashing strobe lights blinding them as cardboard targets appear from seemingly nowhere!
*BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!*
And everyone is just going off either from panic, excitement, or because it's required for the class. Gunfire echoes from every side as bullets fly through the air and into their targets. The targets being cutouts of monstrous creatures and beasts. The only other cutouts are those meant to be normal human civilians, well in this case the civilians are their own teachers in normal poses like Midnight, Eraserhead, Power Loader, and Recovery Girl.
Izuku is about to shoot too but the moment he spots the intended targets he hesitates. Why? Because the cutouts look just like HIM or rather his ALIENS!"
There's a cutout that's clearly meant to be Four Arms but with sharp teeth and claws and grey skin! Then there's the cutout of what Izuku thinks is Wildmutt but this thing is red and has a scorpion-like tail! And there are others like a bizarro version of Big Chill and Stinkfly, and even a bizarro version of Ripjaws that resembles a blue shark!
*BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!*
And right now, his friends and classmates are shooting them, littering their heads, torsos, and…unmentionable regions with bullets!
Izuku, however, wanting to participate takes aim but he continually hesitates as he examines each cutout until finally one cutout catches his attention. And remembering what Snipe said about judgement Izuku's judgement tells him to shoot! NOW!
And so with one motion, Izuku lifts his pistol and fires a single shot.
*BANG!*
And the moment he takes the shot the strobe lights shut off and everyone goes quiet as the lights slowly turn back on.
Snipe marches forward, demanding an explanation. "Midoriya, what the heck happened?!" Izuku, without missing a beat, answers. "Hesitated."
Snipe steps forward, aiming a remote out at the range. He clicks a button and Izuku's target begins to move forward on its track. "May I ask why you felt that our dear Principal deserved to die?"
The class look to see a cardboard cutout of a smiling Nezu rolling forward. The cutout is to scale with Principal Nezu smiling up at them all, holding a stack of books, while a bullet hole is embedded in its forehead.
Izuku, with no sense of irony, responds. "Well, he seemed to be the only one dangerous at the time, sir."
Snipe frowns. "How'd you come to that conclusion?"
"Well first I-I was gonna get this ali-I mean guy from the streetlight." Izuku points up to the cutout of a bizarro version of Ditto with sharp teeth and a tail hanging upside down on a city light pole. "But I realized that he's just working out, exercising. You know?" Izuku shrugs. "I mean, how would I feel if someone attacked me while I was working out? Ya know?"
During this whole exchange his classmates watch on curiously. Well mostly Iida looks highly offended that Izuku would even think of shooting their own Principal.
Snipe however gives Izuku the benefit of the doubt, gesturing for him to continue.
And he does. "And then I saw this snarling Four Arms guy." Izuku points to the claws grey Four Arms cutout. "And I noticed he had a tissue in his hand." And sure enough, in the cutout's lower left hand, it's holding a piece of paper. "And I realized that he's not snarling, he's sneezing. So, he's not a villain, just a scary looking guy."
And finally, Izuku gets to the cutout he actually intended to shoot: Nezu. "And then I saw our dear Principal. And I'm thinking, you know that little Principal Nezu hanging out in back alleys at this time of night with books about Human Anatomy has to be up to something."
The class frowns as they double take and have themselves another look and sure enough the cutout is holding a book on Human Anatomy. Along with other books with some…suspicious titles such as The World Without Us, Nuclear Warfare, and Frankenstein.
"He's about to start something, sir." Izuku defends believing his logic with full confidence. "And as we know Principle Nezu was experimented on and he's still holding a grudge. If you ask me he has to be up to something. With that line up of books I bet he's got to be plotting to overthrow humans by dissecting us and mutating us into horrible Frankenstein monsters that'll have to live on a radioactive earth! I'm willing to bet on it!"
Snipe frowns, giving Izuku a look that he might lose that bet.
Izuku pauses, knowing he might have over-thought it. "Or do I owe him an apology?"
Snipe has no words, instead almost in shame he turns and marches away back towards Aizawa.
Izuku sweats nervously, watching him leave. And in attempt to lighten the mood he gestures towards the hole in Nezu's head. "That was a good shot though, right?"
The other six silently disapprove but after a moment they each shrug and nod, acknowledging that yeah, Izuku did hit the bullseye.
Snipe approaches Aizawa towards the back of the facility while the rest of the class join their classmates near the range.
Aizawa adjusted himself against the wall. "So? "
"So…" Snipe places his hands on his hips as he gives Aizawa his honest response. "I think Midoriya's the only one that passed."
"Hm." Aizawa thought for a moment. "The test was all about assessing their skills and judgement. Their skills to observe and examine the situation before deciding who is and who isn't a threat. The others shot first and asked questions never, I'll have to beat that out of them later."
Snipe shivers, hoping he goes easy on the poor kids. "Well in any case Midoriya showed that he can make the right judgment when needed."
Aizawa gives his co-worker a suspicious look. "About that. Why are all the cutouts of us? Also, why did you pick Nezu as the real threat?"
Snipe gives Aizawa a silent look that just silently asks is he's serious?
Aizawa quickly reasons into his own answers. "You know what, never mind. It's totally believable."
"Right!" Snipe then turns back to the class.
He spots Izuku in the sea of students who are all berating and scolding him for shooting Nezu. "The kid sure surprised me though."
Aizawa raises an eyebrow. "How?"
"He's a good shot." Snipe praises, cupping his chin in thought. "He might have some hidden talent. Hm…I wonder if I should give him some more firearm training?"
*CHAPTER UPDATE: So, if you read the last Author's Note from the last Omake than you know that I am working on a Halloween Special OVA. Now I am hoping to finish the OVA this weekend this way it will be ready to be posted on Halloween. BUT as a result of this OVA and other delays due to normal life stuff I have been unable to start Ch.54 More Than Meets the Eye. The outline is all set but actually writing it out has not yet begun. And again, I have a feeling the real chapter will take over 2 weeks to write if not longer than. I am sorry but I do think this OVA is worth it, I am having so much fun writing it up and since it'll be different it will be a nice change of peace from what we've seen so far.
*Also sorry for not posting an OVA last week I legit forgot to write one up. But in all fairness, I did spend that same time I would have written an Omake to work on the Halloween Special OVA.
*Finally, this Omake was taken right out of MIB. Specifically, "J's Interview For MiB | Men In Black | Voyage."
