Forbidden Spell & Hot Flames
"Won't you be my grandson?" the man asked with the kindest smile he had seen in his second life so far.
"G-grandson?" Izuku asked.
"You heard that right," Sullivan said, "to tell you the truth, I am single but I always wanted to have a grandchild," then he suddenly hugged Izuku and started crying, "not to mention how my friends always talk about their grandchildren, it makes me jealous you know!"
'Poor guy,' Nana said.
Izuku frowned inwardly as he felt intense pain in his head.
"Do I even have a right to refuse?" Izuku asked, "considering the fact that you purchased my soul."
"Of course, I respect your decision. That said," once again, the old demon clung to him and started crying, "I am a very rueful old man. Please make my dreams come true... please fulfill my wishes, I beg you Izuku-Kun, please become my grandchild."
'Nana, can I get a little help here?' Izuku asked.
'Well... why don't you give him a chance,' Nana said.
'You are only saying this because your grandparent instincts are flaring up, isn't it?' Izuku narrowed his eyes.
'I don't know what you are talking about,' Izuku could literally feel Nana averting her eyes.
Izuku sighed and looked at the crying old demon still clinging to him, "Fine, I will become your grandson," as soon as he said that, the demon stopped crying and the bunch of peppers landed in front of him.
"Now then Izuku-Kun, sign these papers so that we can make it official," the old demon said with an excited tone.
'What have I gotten myself into,' Izuku thought as he started signing papers.
:-:-:-:-:-:
"Now then, without any delay," Sullivan took signed papers from Izuku and snapped his fingers.
Suddenly Izuku's clothes and the room in which they were sitting in completely changed. Izuku was now wearing clothes that looked like a school uniform and the room around them had turned into a bedroom filled with books, desks, and high-class furniture that he had only seen in Momo's room.
"Hmm, sir? What is going on?" Izuku asked.
"Izuku-Kun from now on call me grandpa, do you understand?" Sullivan asked and Izuku nodded his head, "and this is for you of course. You are my first grandchild so, I am going to make sure that you get top-class food, clothing, and education."
"Education?" Izuku asked.
"That's right Izuku-Kun, you will be attending the demon school," Sullivan declared, "and don't worry about paperwork your grandpa will take care of that. Also, you will be the first human to attend this school, so as long as we keep it a secret you won't be eaten."
"What!? They will eat me if they found out who I am?" Izuku asked with wide eyes.
"Oh, don't worry about that," Sullivan said and drenched Izuku in some kind of strange liquid, "this perfume will mask your human smell, so you will be safe as long as you are careful."
Izuku just looked at him with a resigned expression and asked, "is there anything else I should know of?"
"Nothing I can think of right now," Sullivan said as he walked towards the door, "now then Izuku-Kun, you have to wake early tomorrow morning for your first day of school so take a good rest for now," then just as Sullivan was about to walk out of the room Izuku called him out.
"Si...Grandpa, can I ask you for a favor?" Izuku asked.
"Hmm, what is it, my precious grandson?" Sullivan asked with a kind smile.
"Can you officially change my name from Izuku Suzuki to Izuku Midoriya,?" Izuku asked.
"Well I can certainly do that but why?" Sullivan asked.
"Well, one of the main reasons is that I don't want to be associated with my parents anymore," Izuku said, "I never had any real connection with them and to them, I was just a tool to earn money so that they can live an easy life."
"Well quite understandable," Sullivan nodded his head, "even I, a demon found those two people quite... how do I put this... unpleasant."
"Can't blame you for that," Izuku said with a humorless laugh, "and second reason well... I don't think I am comfortable with sharing that," Izuku said and looked at the ground, "I know this might sound rude, and really didn't want to disrespect you but..." Izuku's ramblings shut down as he felt a hand ruffling his hair.
"Don't worry Izuku-Kun. I can understand that you have some secrets of your own," Sullivan said with a kind smile, "I just hope that one day you will trust me enough to share your secrets with me without hesitation," with those parting words Sullivan walked out and closed the door leaving very tired looking Izuku who had a faint smile on his face.
:-:-:-:-:-:
Sullivan closed the door behind him and was happily skipping toward his room when a demon with red hair and cat-like ears stood in front of him.
"You take your whims too far," the demon said, "you could have adopted all the demons you wanted. So why would you bother adopting a human as your grandchild? What were you thinking?"
"It's nothing really," Sullivan said, "you will understand it someday, Opera."
With that Sullivan left while talking about how excited he was for tomorrow.
:-:-:-:-:-:
Meanwhile, Izuku had changed out of his school uniform into a much more comfortable set of pajamas which were already present in the closet along with a bunch of other clothes.
"You know Nana, I still can't believe any of this is actually happening," Izuku said as he lay down on the bed, "it feels like a dream... a really weird dream."
'I would have pinched you if I had a real body,' Nana giggled in his head.
"Honestly I am just glad that I have someone to talk to," Izuku said, "anyway, I am going to sleep hoping for all of this to be a dream, goodnight mom," Izuku didn't realize he had said those words but Nana did and it filled her heart with warmth.
:-:-:-:-:-:
The next morning Izuku woke up to the charring of the birds and the harsh sunlight coming from his window. He got up from his bed and noticed that he was still in the room provided by his new grandpa.
"So that was not a dream," Izuku said as he stared at the unfamiliar scenery outside.
'Unfortunately not,' Nana replied.
That's when the door to his room opened and his new grandpa greeted him, "Good Morning, Izuku-Kun, did you sleep well last night," he asked to which Izuku simply nodded his head, "in that case, quickly get ready for school I will meet you downstairs."
After that Izuku quickly finished his preparation and went downstairs in his school uniform where Sullivan and Opera were waiting for him.
"Oh my! You are really looking handsome my precious grandson," Sullivan said while spinning around Izuku. And Izuku didn't know if he was hallucinating or not but his grandpa was looking chibi somehow.
"Breakfast is ready, please take your seat," the red-haired demon said.
"Hmm, you are?" Izuku asked as he took his seat.
"I am Opera, Lord Sullivan's loyal servant," Opera replied with a stoic voice.
"Oh, nice to meet you Opera," Izuku said to which Opara just nodded and went back to serving them.
Then the food was served in front of him. It looked weird and didn't resemble anything including both of his lives and that says a lot since he had seen a full-grown adult wear hands on his face.
'Not funny, Izuku... not funny,' Nana said as he felt a glare in his head.
'Sorry,' Izuku giggled internally, 'now then,' he looked at the food in front of him, 'is it really ok to eat this?'
'Just eat it already,' Nana said, 'I don't think that demon would go this far if he just wanted to poison you.'
'Right,' Izuku took the first bit and, "it's really good,' he said out loud.
"I know right," Sullivan said with a bright smile. And thus slowly but surely they finished their breakfast.
"Now then Izuku-Kun let's go," Sullivan stood up, "we don't want to be late on the first day of school."
:-:-:-:-:-:
After exiting the house they walked for a while before coming across a sign, which was written in a language that Izuku didn't recognize.
"Oh! My grandson's first day of school, I am so excited," Sullivan said, "this occasion demands a picture. Izuku-Kun, stand next to that stand.'
"Ok," Izuku stood next to it, "but I don't know what it says."
"Let me fix that," Sullivan cast a spell on Izuku and now he could read the sign which said, 'entrance ceremony.'
Then he and Sullivan clicked a picture together next to the sign.
"So Opera, where is this school anyway?" Izuku asked.
"Look over there," Opera pointed at the castle which was situated at the top of the hill.
"Wow!" Izuku as he admired the school building from afar. In terms of scale, it was quite comparable to U.A. As soon as he made that comparison, the old memories folded back into his mind. But then he was brought back from his trance when he saw a flock of students flying above their heads. He admired the scene for a few seconds before he noticed that no one was walking to school except them.
"Excuse me Opera, may I ask you something?" Izuku asked to which Opera nodded, "why is no one else walking to the school?"
"Because they don't need to," Opera flatly replied, "all demons are born with wings that originate from the roots on their back," Opera explained, "also, in many cause demons do lose their ability to fly because of accidents but despite that, they never lose roots on their back."
"So you are telling me that my identity can be exposed just by a pat on my back?" Izuku asked with a deadpan expression and Opera once again nodded. Then Izuku turned towards his grandpa and gave him the terrifying smile that Inko would be proud of, "so grandpa when were you going to tell me that?"
"I... that...I was just," Sullivan was now sweating bullets while Opera looked at their interaction with amused eyes.
'I never thought I would see a day where Lord Sullivan would be terrified of a human child,' they thought.
"It's all right I am not mad," Izuku sighed and turned to Opera, "is there a way to replicate these roots on my back?"
Opera stared at Izuku for a second and then nodded their head, "I will look into it," Opera said.
"Thanks," Izuku said with a being smile which made Opera's ear twitch,
:-:-:-:-:-:
After that, they reached outside the school gates where Opera and Sullivan separated from Izuku after wishing him good luck.
Now Izuku had to survive an entire day in this demon school where he is one misstep away from getting eaten alive with the support of his grandpa or Opera.
'Kid, don't forget that I am always there to help you,' Nana said.
'I appreciate the support but I highly doubt that you can do anything when I am served on a plate as an exotic dish of the day,' Izuku said with a chuckle.
Then Izuku took a deep breath and walked inside the gates only to get hit by a sudden wave of nostalgia. The images of his first time entering the U.A. high filled his mind and remembered how he had slipped up and was caught by... Ocha-.
"Hey, you," one of four demons who were wearing different uniforms, "don't space out in the middle of the road and head towards the auditorium," the demon said and pointed in a certain direction.
"Thank you and sorry for the trouble," Izuku said and walked towards the auditorium tho he did miss a certain demoness with reddish-orange hair giving him a curious look.
:-:-:-:-:-:
Then slowly but surely Izuku reached the auditorium while remembering the layout of the school on the way here. Then he walked towards an empty seat and sat there while listing to the conversation of other students and their families.
'Wow, it's more normal than I thought,' Izuku thought to himself.
"Silence," suddenly a gloomy-looking teacher said the entire hall went into silence.
'Well, he looks scary,' Izuku thought, 'kind of reminds me of Aizawa.'
Then another teacher came forward and said, "Now we will formally begin the entrance ceremony for demon school Babyls. All rise," everyone stood up and so did Izuku, "It's time to sing the school song."
Humans only exist to be our food
Suck them dry, soul, blood, flesh, and all
Tremble at the sound of black wings as we take flight
For we are demons
As this song pours forth from our red lips
Scream for us, for we are demons
Our castle is the greatest evil
Its name is Babyls, a solitary place for study
Sacrificing our souls, blood, and meat without leaving anything behind
We shall aim for the demon's top
'That song was... quite unnerving,' Izuku thought to himself.
'Izuku, why are you not afraid?' Nana asked, 'they just talked about how humans just exist to be their food and all you have to say is that it was unnerving,' Nana said and Izuku could feel the worry in her voice, 'I am really concerned, a young boy like you should at least be little scared for his life.'
'Honestly, I am scared but I just can't bring myself to care anymore,' Izuku honestly replied, 'back then I and my friends were at this very 'young' age when we fought two wars just a few months apart. That's when we all learned to push our fears back and move ahead with a smile.'
"Next, greetings from our chair demon," the announcer said and everyone started cheering and chanting 'Yeah! Demon King!'.
"Izuku-Kun," suddenly Izuku's eyes snapped toward the stage as he saw his new grandpa behind the podium in his chibi form, "it's me! Your grandpa!"
'So he is the chair demon,' Nana said in a resigned voice as the audience started wondering who Izuku, the chair demon's grandson was.
"Yes! Indeed! My grandson now goes to this school!" Sullivan said, "He is just so adorable!"
'Damm it! This is more embarrassing than that time mom showed my baby pictures to All Might,' Izuku thought to himself, 'please don't make it worse!'
"And here is the photo we just took with my grandson," he said and took out a huge copy of the picture he had just clicked with him outside.
'And he made it worse,' Nana said sympathetically tho she was also enjoying this little scenario of a grandparent embarrassing their grandchild.
"I will make sure everyone gets a copy later," Sullivan said and left the stage while Izuku was burring his face in his hand.
"Now we have a speech from a representative of new students," a teacher announced. That's when a student with pink hair and a flawless white uniform stood up from his seat and mummers about how he was a top student and started spreading around, "Asmodeus Alice."
The mentioned boy started walking towards the stage while the girls were fangirling over him.
'Well at least, I am not in the spotlight anymore,' Izuku sighed and was about to relax when suddenly "the honor student, Izuku Midoriya.'
'Huh?' Both Nana and Izuku had the same reaction when they heard his name getting announced until they saw Sullivnce in the corner of the stage holding camera in his hand.
Resigning to his fate, Izuku walked towards the stage while clearly hearing the mummers about himself.
"Well, he is quite plain looking, compared to someone like Asmodeus," 'I know I have heard that before.'
"But look at his arms... he looks quite well built under that uniform," 'Thank you, I really worked for that,' Izuku thought with little blush on his face.
When he reached the podium, the first thing he did was that he slammed the floating picture of him and Sullivan on the podium. Then he looked at the crowd and realized he didn't know what to say now that he was there.
A small part of his brain was urging him to pull off Kachhan and say something like, 'Fight for second place all you want but I am going to be the best student in this school,' which brought a smile to his face.
But the demons in front of him, who didn't know what was going through his mind saw that smile and sent a different message to the crowd which was, "man even when he is standing in front of this huge crowd he is still showing off a fearless smile."
Going back to Izuku who had no idea what he was going to say until saw a text written on the back of the picture he just slammed.
(I had send this message to you so that you won't fall and trip through the school days. Love Grandpa) And underneath that were a few words that were screaming trouble.
'So should I read this?' Izuku asked the only companion he can trust right now.
'Can you make up something on the spot?' Nana asked.
'Good point,' Izuku said.
Then Izuku took a deep breath and said, "Greetings everyone, I am Izuku Midoriya and as for my speech," Izuku looked at the words on the letter and started saying it out loud, "Aberuhauke..." as soon as he said the first word Danger Sense screamed in his head but now even Izuku knew it was too late to turn back now, "Tarutoudari...Iusabebe...Risutouru...Aburuze...Sutoumanu...Aberuge...Uru...Mahoraba...Tsurezaza," and then finally Danger sense stopped screaming in his head, "thank you," he said and looked up only to see everyone giving him the looks that lied somewhere between admiration and terrified until suddenly the crowd went into a frenzy and started cheering for him.
"What the hell kid?" one of the teachers came forward and asked, "you can't just go around chanting forbidden spells like that!"
"Forbidden!?" Izuku asked and but then he noticed how all the teachers were glaring at him, 'great there goes my first impression,' Izuku thought.
"Yes, they are taboo spells. If you spell it wrong or stutter while saying it your body could have exploded! Everybody knows that!" Teacher explained.
'Oh! So that's why Danger Sense was literally screaming huh,' Izuku thought.
'Don't fucking 'Oh!' this shit brat,' Nana roared in his head, 'take this seriously.'
"Sorry, I didn't know it was this dangerous," Izuku said and bowed, "I am sorry for the trouble."
"Yes, it was dangerous and crazy and totally amazing," the teacher gave his thumbs up, "but well as long as you understand."
"So what does this spell do exactly?" Izuku asked.
"If it works, you won't trip and fall for the whole day," the teacher explained.
"That's it?" Izuku asked, "isn't the trade-off too high?"
"Duh," the teacher shrugged, "that's why it is a forbidden spell."
'Yep makes sense!' Izuku thought, 'still it's nice to know that grandpa was just looking out for me.'
Then after finishing up this whole ordeal, he stepped off the stage only to be blocked by a student representative who was glaring at him with fire in his eyes.
"How can I help you?" Izuku asked and then...
:-:-:-:-:-:
Eiko knew that she was a simple girl with simple wants.
She liked flowers, cute things, photography, and hanging around with people her age.
And when it comes to boys, she found muscular boys much more attractive. Oh and not the ones who had their muscles ripping out of their clothes but the ones who had well-toned muscles with lean figures and that's the very reason why she found herself having a little crush on the green-haired honor student who had just said used a forbidden spell without getting blown apart.
And now that same honor student was standing in the courtyard getting challenged by the student representative, Asmodeus Alice. Oh, she wasn't alone there, almost all the first years and some upperclassmen were here as well.
"I was supposed to give that speech," Asmodeus said as he created flames in his hand, "the punishment for stealing that spotlight from me is death."
'This is a little excessive but cool,' Eiko thought.
Then they turned towards the honor student to see his reaction, and to their surprise, he was just standing there giving Asmodeus the unimpressed look.
"Really?" Izuku asked, "you are talking about killing someone for something so petty?"
"Silence!" Asmodeus raged, "and now since you stole that spotlight from me, I have the right to see if you are truly worthy of it or not!". Upon Asmodeus's declaration, the crowd started cheering but then Izuku gave that same unimpressed look to the crowd as well.
'Wow!' Eiko thought with stars in her eyes, 'he looks so unfazed, even when he is facing someone like Asmodeus.
"Hey, do you think Honor Student has a chance?" her friend Gaako asked.
Before Eiko could answer a pink-haired girl who was standing behind them spoke, "no way, a plain-looking guy like him can defeat someone like Asmodeus!" she said, "just look how handsome he is."
"Listen, I am sorry alright," Izuku said and which shocked everyone, "I never wanted to steal your spot."
"Don't matter," Asmodeus said and launched a fireball at Izuku, "Now prove to me, that you are superior to me."
In response, Izuku raised his hand and pointed at the fireball as some kind of green energy swirled around his body, and then he flicked his finger. And to everyone's surprise not only did that little flick create enough air pressure to defuse the fireball but also blew away some demons who were standing close to them.
"We don't need to do this," Izuku said, "I can apologize to you and you can forgive me, so can both go our separate ways."
"Shut up," Asmodeus said, "how dare you mock me and the flames of my family."
Asmodeus said and continued his assault of fireballs on Izuku who just gracefully dodged them with minimal effort while that green energy still danced around his body.
"Why? Why can't I hit you?" Asmodeus asked.
"Because you are trying to attack me with just raw power without trying to predict my moments," Izuku said with a thoughtful expression, "honestly I am really impressed by the strength of your flames and your control over them."
'And now he was praising his opponent and giving him pointers. What a strange demon,' Eiko thought.
"I see, if magic is not going to work then..." Asmodeus made a sword out of the fire and rushed at Izuku, "then I will use martial arts."
But despite changing his technique it didn't work as Izuku once again dodged but this time Asmodeus's leg slipped on the nearby rock which caused him to change his direction and now that flaming sword was coming towards her ready to pierce a hole in her body.
"Eiko," Geeko shouted her name but by now Eiko was too scared to even move from her place. To her, it felt like someone had trapped her feet in ice. And that's when she realized, 'so this is what facing death feels like,' she thought as she felt the heat of Asmodeus's flames on her body when suddenly she saw green sparks in front of her eyes, and in the next moment Izuku was holding her in a princess carry.
He then gently placed her down and walked towards Asmodeus and stared directly into his eyes.
"Asmodeus Alice," Izuku said as the green energy violently flared around his body, "are we done here, or are you going to get more unrelated students to get involved in this stupid fight."
Asmodeus was clearly taken aback by the sudden hostility but then he calmed down and said, "you are right there is no point in continuing this anymore. I Asmodeus Alice, take back my issued challenge and apologize for wasting your time," Asmodeus said and then walked off.
After he left, the energy around Izuku's body died down as he walked towards Eiko with a kind smile, "hey, are you all right?" he asked, "also sorry for picking you up like that," he said while rubbing the back of his head.
"Huh? No, it's all right, and thank you for saving my life," Eiko said trying to slow down her pounding heart.
"Don't worry about it because it was kind of my fault," he grimaced, "so are you hurt somewhere? I can take you to the infirmary if you want."
"No, I am good... I think," Eiko said and Izuku actually looked relieved at that.
"Ok then take care," he said and walked inside the school leaving the love-stuck girl behind.
"Now, that I got a close look at him, he does look kinda hot," one of the girls from the crowd said, and that's when Eiko realized what it feels like to want to punch someone in the face... with a brick in a hand.
:-:-:-:-:-:
(Chair Demon's office.)
"Yay! I expect nothing less from my grandson," Sullivan said as he danced around Izuku who was looking down in shame while in front of him was a school newspaper that had his picture on the front page that showed him glaring at Asmodeus with raging eyes. And to top it off the headline read, 'Honor student Izuku Midoriya made student representative Asmodeus Alice back down.'
"What happened Izuku-Kun, why are you looking so down?" Sullivan asked.
"It's just, I wanted to apologize for making a scene on the very first day of school," Izuku said bowing his head, "I have enrolled here as your grandson and that means I shouldn't be featured in a school newspaper as some kind of delinquent."
"Now now, Izuku-Kun, don't be so hard on yourself," Sullivan patted his head, "it was my bad for putting you on a spot like that also I don't think anyone will call you delinquent after you heroically saved that girl from Asmodeus's attack."
"Now then Izuku-Kun let's talk about something much more important than all of this shall we?" Sullivan asked in his serious voice.
"It's about my powers, right?"Izuku asked and Sullivan nodded, "you remember, I asked you to change my last name last night from Suzuki to Mirodiya," again Sullivan nodded, "it is related to that and I really wish I could tell you what it is but I am not ready yet. That's why grandpa all I am asking right now is for you to trust me on this one, please!"
Sullivan looked into Izuku's eyes for a solid minute and said, "very well Izuku-Kun, I will place my trust in you. After all, I was the one who brought you here so I will accept you with all your good qualities and bad ones."
Upon hearing that Izuku teared up and he could swear he heard All Might saying, 'I told you to stop being such a crybaby.'
"Thank you, for believing in me," Izuku said as started wiping away his tears.
"Izuku-Kun, why don't you take a rest in an adjacent room," Sullivan said, "I am sure you can use some rest. And don't worry I will send Opera to pick you up once I am done with my work."
After Izuku went to take the rest, Sullivan turned towards Opera and asked, "what do you think about him? I want your honest opinion."
"Master Izuku is an enigma," Opera said, "even putting his powers aside. He is quite attentive, I noticed him taking notes of several things and his awe-struck face when someone used their magic or bloodline ability. From the looks of it, he lacks self-preservation. I didn't notice any drastic changes in his body language or facial expression during the school anthem but when that girl was going to get hurt he moved in an instant without even a second's delay. As if..."
"His body and mind are trained to put other people's lives before his," Sullivan completed his sentence. Then a smile graced appeared on his face, "what an interesting human you are Izuku Midoriya."
