First Friend & Summoning!
Izuku was standing in a dark void when suddenly he heard a voice of footsteps running towards him. He turned around and saw Eri in her teens running towards him. He spread his arms to catch her in a hug but then she passed through him while completely ignoring his existence.
He again turned around and this time it was adult Ochako in her hero costume standing there.
"Hey Eri, where are you going?" Ochako asked.
"Oh! Hey big sis Ochako," Eri greeted with a bright smile. Then she took out a green Deku plushie and asked, "do you know what this is? I found it in my old stash."
Izuku's eyes went wide as soon as he heard those words, 'did she really forget about me?' he thought to himself.
"Let me look at it," Ochako took a plushie in her hand and examined it, "yep, no idea who this is," she said, "but kinda reminds me of all those oversized All Might hoddies I had all those years ago."
"The ones you gave away in charity?" Eri asked.
"Yeah, I didn't even know where they came from so I gave them to people who will value them more than I ever could," Ochako explained.
Meanwhile, Izuku was watching their conversation from the side with a stunned expression. He wanted to get their attention and tell them that he was there but the black mist surrounding him was stopping him from even speaking and moving in this place.
"Then I will do just that," Eri said and then she and Ochako started walking away. Izuku tried to shout, he tried to reach out to them but then slowly the space started to shrink until it collapsed on him.
:-:-:-:-:-:
Izuku shot up from his bed and started taking deep breaths. His heart was pounding fast while his body was drenched in sweat.
'Izuku, can you hear me,' Nana asked, 'come on kid we have done this drill before. Take deep breaths and calm your nerves.'
Izuku nodded and then sat down on the floor, curled into himself, and started taking deep breaths while rubbing his face.
Ever since Izuku had born in this new world, every few weeks he has these nightmares from his old life. At first, it was about people grieving for him after his death which left him in intense guilt for the next couple of days but over the past few years his nightmares have changed, and for a couple of years now all he sees are people who were close to him slowly forgetting about him, which was even more heartbreaking for him.
Suddenly the door of his room burst open and Sullivan entered the room, "good morning my precious grand-" his cheery attitude vanished in an instant when he saw Izuku on the ground drenched in sweat, "what happened? Are you all right?"
"Oh... yeah," Izuku slowly stood up and sat on the bed, "don't worry about me it was just a nightmare," Izuku tried to reassure him with a strained smile.
"If you say so," Sullivan said still not convinced by Izuku's words.
"So you need something from me, grandpa?" Izuku asked.
"I love the sound of that!" Sullivan said as his cheery attitude returned once again, "oh yeah, remember we talked about roots yesterday?" Sullivan asked and Izuku nodded his head, "guess what? Your grandpa has already found a solution! Opera bring that thing inside."
Opera who was standing right outside the door entered the room while holding a black thing that had multiple branches. Honestly, that looked more like some kind of centipede than roots.
"Izuku sama please take off your shirt," Opera said but then noticed all the sweat on Izuku's boy, "on second thought I would suggest you should take a bath first."
Izuku nodded since even he was aware of how drenched his clothes were. Then after twenty minutes or so, Izuku came out of the washroom and sat in front of Opera without his shirt.
"Izuku sama, this might feel a little weird at first but bare with it until I am completely done," Opera said and Izuku nodded his head. Then Opera placed one end of the root on the back of his neck and then slowly traced it down over his spine until the second of it was stuck just above his hips. Then one by one the branches of that root stuck all over his back.
And just when Izuku thought the work was done he started feeling irritation in his back which was followed by pain that felt like someone just had stabbed him with countless needles. Then slowly, pain and irritation vanished and now he didn't feel anything on his back at all.
"Opera, what is that thing?" Izuku asked.
"It is a certain kind of living fabric that sticks to living organisms," Opera explained, "and rest assured that it is absolutely safe since many stage actors use them during actual fights."
Izuku really wanted to ask why there was an actual fight during the play but he swallowed that question for now and thanked Opera for his help.
:-:-:-:-:-:
After getting ready for school Izuku walked down the stairs and sat at the dining table for the breakfast.
"Izuku-Kun are you comfortable with that thing on your back?" Sullivan asked.
"At first it felt a little weird but now I don't even realize I have something on my back," Izuku replied.
"That's nice to hear. By the way, check this out," Sullivan said and presented him with the new set of gifts, "I splurged a bit to celebrate you starting school."
"Hmm grandpa," Izuku said while looking a little uneasy, "I really appreciate your gifts but you really don't need to spend all this money on me. You already gave me so many things and now it feels like I am taking advantage of your kindness."
"Nonsense," Sullivan immediately dismissed his concern, "you are my one and only grandson so it is obvious that I am going to spoil you. But still, if it makes you uneasy I will tone it down," then he took out a handkerchief from his pocket which had Izuku's name embroidered on it, "Opera and I made this, do you like it?"
"Yeah, it's lovely," Izuku said. Then he noticed the bandages on Sullivan's fingers, "what happened to your finger?"
"I am not used to doing embroidery, so it was quite exhausting," Sullivan said.
"Grandpa, don't do things that will get you hurt," Izuku said with a tired sigh.
'Well at least he is trying to be a good grandparent,' Nana said, 'unlike me.'
'Come on Nana, we have talked about this before,' Izuku said, 'no more self-deprecating thoughts, remember?'
'Yeah, you are one to talk,' Nana retorted.
Then Izuku and family finished their breakfast and now it was time for school.
"Ok, grandpa I am off," Izuku said as he activated float and took it to the sky.
"Please be careful," Opera added.
"So he can fly as well," Sullivan said. Then he took out a camera and spread out his wings, "now it's time to follow him to school."
And just as he was about to take off Opera caught him by the collar and dragged him inside the house.
:-:-:-:-:-:
After some time Izuku landed in front of the school gates and noticed that many students were staring at him.
'Is it because of my bag?' Izuku thought to himself because on the very first day of school Izuku realized that only he had the over-the-shoulder bag, unlike other students who were carrying their handbags.
Then as he few steps inside the schoolyard, he heard two students talking about him and realized what was going on. Since he was flying without using 'his wings', students thought that despite being a first-year student he had great mana control and magic capacity to achieve that feat.
'Yeah, sorry to disappoint you but I am kinda cheating by using a foreign power,' Izuku thought to himself.
'Izuku, just take a look around you,' Nana said, 'you are surrounded by all these demons. They are physically gifted, are born with magic, and have wings to fly. And all One for All is doing is giving you a chance to stand equally with them. And that's not cheating in my eyes.'
'So... just like, last time,' Izuku thought. Then from the corner of his eye, he saw someone he wished he could avoid for some time and that demon was Asmodeus Alice, the boy who he manage to piss off on the very first day of school.
That's why he decided to turn around and take a different route but a thought came to his mind, 'No, I have to clear the misunderstanding with him right now before it comes and bites me in the back, and also I will prefer not having another Kacchan to torment me.'
So Izuku gathered all of his courage and walked up to him, "Hey Asmodeus, can we talk?"
:-:-:-:-:-:
"Hey Asmodeus, can we talk?" the green-haired boy asked him while staring straight into his eyes.
(AN:-Izuku in this AU is as tall as Asmodeus which is 5.7 feet.)
And honestly, Asmodeus had no idea how to respond to that.
Up until yesterday, Asmodeus Alice was a peerless demon in all the fields of his life. His Nobel lineage and mastery over magic had always kept everyone aside from his family away from him or his intimidating personality had kept people from approaching him. Which he didn't mind. He found peace in the fact that he was upholding his family's prestige by standing out amongst this crowd of nobodies.
But then yesterday came and changed everything.
At first, he was angry at the green-haired boy for stealing his spot. In his mind, he was thinking 'how can such plain-looking nobody dare to take my spot,' that's why he was going to burn him as soon as he walked out off the stage but then he remembered that this boy was also Sullivan-sama's grandson and which means attacking this boy right now might bring complication in his mother's work.
That's why he did what any noble demon would do and challenged him to a battle, (he purposefully left the part where he dragged the boy to the courtyard out of his mind) which the boy denied and apologized to him and was trying to defuse the situation.
Thinking about it right now, it would have been better to just let go of his anger since picking a fight on the very first day won't look good on his record.
But at that time it only fueled his anger more and hence he launched the first attack which the honor student dismissed with just a flick of his finger. This was surprising considering he didn't use any kind of magic to do that, it was just raw energy generated from his body. This should have been an indicator for him to consider his next moves carefully but since his ego and pride had already gone to his head by that point so he kept attacking until he was panting on the ground.
And his opponent was standing in front of him, unharmed while praising his magic and giving pointers to him.
And whatever happened after that was out of pure rage. Him running blindly at the honor student with a fire blade in his hand. Him tripping on a rock and almost harmed a bystander.
But amongst all of this, the most shocking thing was the fact that the green-haired boy was mad at him for almost harming that girl. And that was surprising because before that moment no matter how many insults he threw at him or called him undeserving multiple times the boy just didn't care.
And that's why Alice had placed him into the mental box labeled 'demons I don't understand and probably never will,' alongside his mother.
And now that same boy standing in front of him asking for his time.
"Yes, what is it?" Alice replied.
"Listen, I just want to clear some misunderstandings," the boy said, "first of all like I told you yesterday, I genuinely didn't know that grandpa was going to put me on the spot like that. I didn't even have any speech prepared as well, that's why I had to say that forbidden spell, which is a total scam considering the risks of failing that."
"And second I am really sorry for taking your spot like that. If I had known that it means so much to you, I would have declined the offers," the boy said and bowed his head which once again stunned Alice.
Eventually, he got out of his shock and sighed, "Fine, I am willing to take your word for that but only because you are someone I consider my competition from now on."
"Thank you," the boy looked relieved, "I genuinely thought that you are going to hold a grudge against me," and then the boy offered his hand to him, "let's reintroduce ourselves. I am Izuku Midoriya, want to become my friend."
"Huh?" Alice raised his brow, "what is a friend?"
:-:-:-:-:-:
"You don't know what a friend is? Izuku asked.
"I don't think I have heard the term 'friend' before," Alice replied.
'Izuku I don't think the concept of friend exists in this world,' Nana suggested, 'try explaining it to him like he is five years old.'
"Ok so a friend is a person you spend your time with without worrying about their social status or power," Izuku explained, "you study together, train together, you can share your feelings, thoughts, and secrets with them, and hang around with them even outside the school."
"That... sounds like a bizarre version of an ally," Alice said, "but still I am intrigued by your explanation," then Alice offered his hand to Izuku, "very well, Izuku Midoriya from this day onwards I Asmodeus Alice shall accept your offer of becoming a friend and permit you to refer to me as Alice. But that is only because I see you as my equal and I am totally planning to overcome you as a challenge in the future."
'Well... that was dramatic,' Izuku and Nana thought.
But despite his somewhat funny declaration, Izuku still showed him a challenging smile, "Very well Alice I accept your challenge," Izuku said, "so then, where are we going next?"
:-:-:-:-:-:
"Familiar summoning?" Izuku asked.
"Yeah, it is a traditional event here at Babyls," Alice explained, "it is one of the three events that determine our ranks."
"Do you know, what those other two events are by any chance?" Izuku asked.
"It should be a flying race and mock battles against the upperclassmen," Alice said, "and based on all three exams our ranks should be decided."
"Ohh, ok," Izuku said, 'I need to restart doing combat training again. Something is telling me that I am going to need that if I am going to stay here.'
'Yeah, sounds like a good plan,' Nana added, 'you must be quite rusty since you haven't had any real battle for so long.'
'Yeah, I will have to repolish some of my other techniques like shoot style and black whip maneuvering.'
'Well then we will start working on that then,' Nana said.
And thus Izuku and Alice arrived at the hall where a familiar summoning was going to take place.
:-:-:-:-:-:
The first thing Izuku noticed after entering a hall was that once again everyone was staring at him.
'What now?' Izuku groned in his head.
"They must be wondering why we walking together and not at each other's throats," Alice explained and Izuku's face become red as he realized that he spoke that out loud, 'which would have been true but you Izuku, are one strange demon."
"Wait! So if I haven't cleared things with you, you were going to attack me?" Izuku asked.
"No, but I wouldn't have talked with you so casually and would have targeted you in all the school events," Alice explained.
"In that case, I am glad that I talked with you," Izuku said with a grimaced smile.
As he was chatting with Alice someone called him out, "Hmm, excuse me," Izuku turned around and saw a demon girl with frizzy blonde hair and black horns approaching him.
'I think I know her from somewhere,' Izuku thought.
'Yesterday you saved her from Alice's attack,' Nana helped him out.
'Yeah, I remember her now,' Izuku thought, "Hey, glad to see you are alright."
"What? You remembered me?" she asked with a bashful face.
"Of course, we just met yesterday right?" Izuku lied.
'Liar,' Nana huffed and Izuku felt a slight pain in the back of his head like someone had just smacked him there.
"Oh yeah, sorry I forgot to introduce myself, Izuku MIdoriya," Izuku said and offered her a hand.
"Eiko... Eiko Oni," she replied while stumbling on her words.
"Someone, you know?" Alice decided to interfere and asked Izuku.
"Well kind of," Izuku replied, "actually you know her too."
"I know her?" Alice raised his brow, "sorry but I have no idea who she is and I don't remember meeting her either."
"Remember you almost sliced someone yesterday?" Izuku asked and Alice nodded, "yeah, that's her."
"Oh," that's when Alice realized who this girl was so he moved forward and said, "please forgive me for putting your life in danger."
"No please don't, it's alright," Eiko said getting embarrassed by all the eyes on her.
That's why she felt relieved when the door of the hall slammed on the wall and the gloomy teacher from the entrance ceremony entered the hall.
"Silence," he said and the hall went silent because of his intimidating aura, "my name is Naberius Kalego, I will be your advisor. I am always in charge of this ritual. Why? Because I am dignified at all times. I will determine whether you are useless trash or useful trash."
'Great,' Izuku groaned in his mind, 'no matter in which world I am. I always have to deal with this kind of teacher.'
Just as Izuku was thinking about that Kalego walked toward him, stood really close to him, stared into his soul, and said, "especially the ones who rely on their grandparent's position and chanted a forbidden spell amongst so many people," then he glared at Alice and said, "then who picked a fight with another student," then he walked back to his spot while Izuku looked indifferent to his intimidation and Alice just outright ignored him, "in short incompetent students will be forced to withdraw right away."
'Really! Is fate playing some kind of sick joke with me,' Izuku thought as he remembered the words of a certain hobo that haunted him for days, (the one with the lowest score will be judged hopeless and will be expelled from the school.)
Upon hearing that students started making protesting but were immediately silenced by Kalego's intimidating aura and brutal stare.
Then out of nowhere, he took out a pink digital board, decorated with cute things and animals, and... yeah it was totally killing Kalego's vibe.
A guide to basically summon a Familiars!
1. Draw a circle on the parchment with your blood.
2. Walk into the magic circle.
3. Throw the parchment into the flames.
4. A Familiar will emerge from the smoke.
As soon as the board finished its explanation, Kalego knocked it down with his hand, "stupid guide," Kalego said.
"He hit it..." "It seems like he doesn't like cute pictures." Murmurs started amongst the students.
Then Kalego took a parchment out of his pocket, "make sure you use the parchment with my seal on it. I can tell immediately if it's a fake.
"Is this going to be dangerous?" Eiko asked as she slowly raised her hand.
"What a foolish question," Kalego said, "you will be summoning a subordinate and making it serve you. That's what familiars are, and should a familiar disobey its master," Kalego picked up the cute board and created a whole in it, "there will be punishment. That's how deep the blood pact is. Now line up in an orderly fashion and perform a ritual when your name is called."
And so the ritual started and one by one the students started summoning their familiars.
Meanwhile, Izuku was freaking out inside his mind as he fascinatedly looked around at the students with their summoned creatures, 'it's like getting your own pokemon!'
'Stop freaking out kid,' Nana said, 'did Yoichi bite you or something.'
'I mean how could I not,' Izuku protested, 'I always wanted to have my own pokemon when I was a child, and now I can get my own.'
'Sorry to disappoint you kid but aren't you forgetting something,' Nan said, 'to do that ritual you need magic, and even if you consider One for All a miracle it still cannot perform magic.'
'OH,' as soon as Izuku realized that his mood went into dumps.
"What's wrong?" Eiko who was standing next to him asked but before she could get her answer she was called on for the ritual.
She then performed the necessary steps and summoned a blue fox-like creature. She then skipped back to where Izuku was and he congratulated her on summoning.
After her, it was Alice's turn. He gracefully walked into the summoning circle, made a mark with his blood, held parchment over the fire, and then from the huge amount of smoke came out a snake, with huge purple horns and wings while its tale was on fire.
:-:-:-:-:-:
(Gorgon Snake: It is a macaroon-cream-colored serpentine monster with purple details on its edges. It is also a winged creature (which has claws on the tip of each side of its wings) that has a pair of massive-sized horns on its head, red scaling eyes, and two sharp pointed fangs. A raging fire burns at the tip of this familiar's big tail. It also can masterfully breathe fire.)
:-:-:-:-:-:
'Oh my god! It's so cool!" Izuku yelled in his mind, 'it's like a weird fusion between Charizard and Seviper.'
"Izuku Midoriya, you are the last one. Get in there already," Kelgeo called out.
"All the best Izuku," Eiko gave him a thumbs up.
Izuku nodded at her and walked into the magic circle while trying to ignore all the anticipation-filled stares which were targeted at him. He then stood inside the circle with the parchment in his hand.
He then bit his finger and made a symbol on the parchment with his blood.
:-:-:-:-:-:
Summoning.
A ritual in which demons summon magical creatures and make them their familiars.
And...
It is also the ritual in which humans summon demons.
:-:-:-:-:-:
'I know I don't have magic but what if I had? What kind of familiar I would wish for,' Izuku thought for a moment and realized he already knew the answer, 'that's right, mega Rayquaza,' with that wish in mind he held the parchment over the fire knowing it won't trigger any kind of reaction.
But then Izuku's luck kicked in and instead of smoke, a huge pillar of light emerged from the ground.
:-:-:-:-:-:
But when this ritual is performed with the blood that holds the power from another world. The summoning ritual becomes a wishing ritual which resulted in...
:-:-:-:-:-:
Eventually, as the light from the pillar died down, it revealed a majestic black serpentine monster that looked twice the size of Gargon Snake. Its horns which were emerging from the side of its head had golden-colored tendrils attached to them and yellow eyes were directly staring at Izuku.
And Izuku well his mind was in heaven right now. He was looking at the monster in front of him with shining eyes, "I pulled out a shiny," he muttered to himself.
'Hey Izuku, why can I see you standing in front of me?' Nana asked.
'Not now Nana, I am busy admiring my new- Wait! What do you mean?' and instantly gears in his head started shifting.
:-:-:-:-:-:
One more thing.
Since you cannot just create a soul out of nowhere, the ritual decided to choose between the demon whose mark was on this parchment and the extra soul summoner was already carrying with him...
:-:-:-:-:-:
'Nana, can you roar for me once?' Izuku asked.
'What?' Nana asked.
'Just do it,' Izuku said, and then immediately the Rayquaza in front of him roared in an intimidating voice which made many students flinch back in fear.
'Ok Nana don't freak out but I may have accidentally summoned you as my familiar,' Izuku explained.
'Ok,' Nana said calmly.
'Wait! That's it?' Izuku asked, 'I thought you would be furious at me for making you servent.'
'Well, first of all, Izuku. This is not the first weird thing that has happened to us in the last few days,' Nana explained, 'and second I am kind of liking this form. I mean I could literally feel the power in my body. I also think that this form will be more useful since we are going to live here.'
As Izuku and Nana were discussing the pros and cons of this situation Kalego called him out, "Izuku what is that thing? It doesn't match anything that we have in our records."
"It's a Rayquaza," Izuku absent-mindedly replied.
"And how do you know that?" Kalego asked.
'Crap! Me and my big mouth,' Izuku thought to himself and made up a lie, "It told me."
"You can talk to it?" Kalego asked.
"Not directly but I can sort of understand what it is saying," Izuku said with a shrug.
Just then the bell rang, "Fine," Kalego said, 'you are free to go."
"Thank you," Izuku said and left the hall after unsummoning Nana.
:-:-:-:-:-:
After coming out of the hall, Izuku, Eiko, and Alice split up.
Alice had some work to do while Eiko had to meet up with her friend and Izuku was going to pick up the books from the school.
'Let's see, the Basics of being a demon, curses, pharmaceutics, and the art of torture,' Izuku looked at the list of subjects in his hands and sighed, 'sounds fun.'
Then when he reached the distribution room suddenly the door burst open and a girl came out of the room while rolling and crashed into the pile of boxes kept arranged in the hallway.
Izuku immediately rushed towards her and asked, "hey are you all right?"
Immidtly a lime green-haired girl emerged from underneath while giggling, "strike," and immediately jumped at Izuku, "I am Clara! My Right foot's name is Connor! And my left foot's name is Murf! Sorry! I came here to take my material but I went too overboard and struck! Wanna Pile things up and go Ka-bam? Do you want candy?" then she stopped cashing him and again started pilling up the boxes, "watch me I will do it again!"
'What is up with this girl?' Izuku thought to himself.
:-:-:-:-:-:
'So... how did we get here?'Izuku asked who was now standing in front of Clara who was trying to swim on the ground.
'Because the teacher who was in charge of distributing the books recognized you and pushed the responsibility of this girl on you,' Nana explained.
'I wasn't actually asking but thanks anyway,' Izuku grumbled.
"So IzuIzu! what should we play?" Clara asked and pointed at the pile of dangerous-looking things, "I have a lot of things! A spiky ball! A nom-nom picture book! A broken, blood-stained, family murder house set! And lots of other things."
'Oh my Izuku,' Nana said, not even trying to control her laughter, 'this girl might be really a death of you.'
In response, Izuku just sighed and asked the universe, 'how the hell did I get here!'
:-:-:-:-:-:
(AN:-Listen I am not sorry!
And I am planning to make students use their familiars more.)
