*This Omake is canon.
*This Omake takes place right after the events of Ch.58 The Visitors.
Omake: Fond Memories
After using Four Arms and Zero-Gravity to flip the Rustbucket back over. The group of Gran Torino, Hisashi, Ochaco, and Izuku were all done with the day, especially since it was already so dark out.
And with everything now set and cleaned up, mostly, Gran Torino figured that it was high time for them to leave.
"You all set to go, girly?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm ready." Ochaco yawns, stretching her arms out tiredly. "What a day."
"You're leaving?!" Hisashi pops out of the RV, letting out a relieved sigh. "Thank goodness."
WHACK!
"Ow!" He rubs his aching head.
Gran Torino spits, pulling his cane back down. "Watch your mouth there, punk. Respect your elders."
"Not when they're senile old men. OW!"
"You better watch that mouth punk. Before I really decided to teach you a lesson." Gran Torino is fuming mad, waving his cane in the air, threatening to hit him again.
Izuku just laughs sheepishly, waving goodbye on both of their behaves as Gran Torino and Ochaco leave for a taxi.
While still rubbing his head, Hisashi glares a hole in the back of Gran Torino's skull. "Good riddance." Even though he says that his voice isn't vile or nasty, instead a soft appreciate smile graces his lips as he watches his old mentor off.
After a minute Hisashi pulls away back into the Rustbucket, wanting to clean it up before they head out in the morning.
However, Izuku looks like he has something on his mind, fidgeting in place as he watches the two head out. But after a moment he finally snaps and rushes over, calling after the two. "Um, Gran Torino, sir!"
Gran Torino stops. "What is it, boy? You need something?"
Izuku fidgets in place, becoming shy and fumbling with his words. "Yes. No. Um, maybe, um."
"Out with it!"
"Ah! Okay, um, I was kinda curious. But um why do you call my Dad a punk?" It's an odd question, he knows but he just can't help but wonder. "I'm not asking because I'm upset about it but I was just wondering…"
Gran Torino smiles, not offended at all by the boys question, but rather he's glad he asked. "You were wondering what he was like? Aren't ya?"
Izuku gives him a guilty smile. "Y-yeah."
Gran Torino lets out a hearty laugh. "Haha Haha!" He reaches into his back pocket and pulls out his wallet. From there he opens it up and sorts through the various cards and photos he has inside until he finds the exact one, he's been looking for. "Here have yourself a look!"
He hotels up the photo.
Izuku carefully takes the photo as a curious Ochaco peeks over his shoulder.
And what they see is almost enough for their jaws to drop.
The photo is old yet the two people on it are from it. There's a young Gran Torino albeit one that is certainly getting up there in age. He's smiling, giving the camera a big grin, while his large hand sits on a teen's shoulder.
That teen being a very young Hisashi Midoriya.
Izuku gasps. "That's my Dad?!"
Even Ochaco's blown away. "Woah! Deku, you look just like him!"
He does the only real difference appearance wise is that Izuku has green hair! But looking at the photo, him and his dad had very similar builds at 14 years old. Plain faced, freckled cheeks, green eyes, everything minus the darker hair, nasty scowl, and the disturbing blackeye that the teenage Hisashi is sporting.
Yeah, Hisashi is far from smiling like the young Gran Torino is. He's got a nasty look in his eyes, a foul scowl that could maybe even rival Bakugou's own nasty glares.
Ochaco still can't believe how similar they look. "You two could be clones if it weren't for your hair!"
Izuku frowns, finding the glaring Hisashi rather disturbing. "That's my dad? I don't know what I was expecting but…he kinda looks like a punk."
Heck his face is all scratched and bruised up, his costume is covered in dirt almost like he just got out of a brawl.
Gran Torino breaks into a fit of laughter. "Hahaha! Believe it or not but your old man wasn't always as levelheaded as he is now. He was a real punk, getting into fights he couldn't win. A real hotshot."
"My dad…a hotshot?" Izuku is really having a hard time picturing it.
"Yup, a real pain in the ass. Hahaha!"
Ochaco leans in, grimacing at the young Hisashi's blackeye. "Yeesh, that's one nasty shiner. How'd he get it?" Gran Torino smiles at the memory. "Oh, well actually he got that the day we first met. Nezu notified me that their new cadet was chasing after an alien criminal. And when I got there, I found this hotshot going mono-a-mono with the alien!"
Izuku's starting to understand the picture now. "Oh, so the alien got one over on him."
"Nope. I did that to him. Hahaha!"
The teens' jaws drop. "What?!"
"Hahaha! Yeah, after I swooped in and saved his ass, that little punk couldn't take the hit to his ego. So, he straight up tried to show me up, getting all in my face and trying to challenge my authority."
Ochaco's almost too afraid to ask. "What did you do?"
Gran Torino answers her with a grin. "What do you think? I put that little shit in his place. Hahaha!"
Ten teens frowns at that, not sure what to make of it. Somehow it both makes sense yet doesn't.
After hearing all the laughter, Hisashi comes around curious as to what they're talking about. "What are you guys talking about? I thought you were leaving." He then notices the photo in Izuku's hand. "What you got there, Champ?" He leans in to have a look.
And upon doing so his smile freezes as the terrible sense of horror washes over him.
Gran Torino smirks at his reaction. Oh, hey! Don't mind me, I was just sharing some old memories. You don't mind, do ya?"
Hisashi immediately explodes. "OF COURSE, I MIND! JUST WHAT ARE YOU TELLING THEM!? I DON'T WANT MY SON TO THINK ANY LESS OF ME!"
Gran Torino points his nose away. "You left for nearly ten years so I'm sure his opinion of you is already low."
Hisashi collapses, crouching over and looking visibly hurt by his comment. "Why…why do you always have to put me down?"
"Hehe! What can I say?" Gran Torino gingerly takes the photo back, making sure to not wrinkle or damage it as he carefully tucks it back into his wallet; ensuring that there's no way it'll get damaged or fall out. "Some things will never change, I guess. Hehe."
Hisashi glares at him, but Gran Torino just keeps on smiling. "But then again, the more things change the more they stay the same."
Hisashi's scowl softens. "Gran Torino…" Was…was he saying that he, Hisashi has changed, for the better? Yeah, he guesses that he is saying that.
Gran Torino's soft smile turns wicked and cruel. "I mean look at you, for example, you got old."
And like that Hisashi explodes once again. "LOOK WHO'S TALKING, OLD MAN!"
WHACK!
"Owww…!"
As the two begin to bicker and shout, Izuku and Ochaco watch on with awkward smiles.
Izuku especially feels guilty, feeling like he may have accidentally set things in motion here. "Well, I guess this is just how they show that they care about each other… Maybe?"
Their shouting and bickering grows louder.
Out of pity, Ochaco sympathetically pats Izuku on the back. "Let's not jump to conclusions."
*Just to be honest, I do plan on having an Omake or an OVA where we see Hisashi and Gran Torino meet for the first time, Or even how Hisashi's first internship went. I also wanna do an Omake or OVA of Gran Torino's first meeting with Xylene. When will I do these? I don't know. I just know that at some point that I will.
*UPDATE* The next chapter, Ch.59 Don't Dave In, is coming along rather nicely. If all goes well, I will have it up and ready to post by February 25, 2022. If not, then the week after for sure.
*HINT* Hint for the next chapter. This chapter is partially based off a classic Ben Ten episode(s) or at least it will focus on a certain aspect introduced from the series. And to not leave you totally hanging, these elements were introduced in Season 1.
