Justice was alone. She did like to talk to other kids. They were picking on her first couple of weeks but her unresponsive behavior turned them off. She didn't cry and she didn't complain she didn't talk or smile. James Gordon was the only one with whom Justice liked to talk. He told her a lot about working in criminal justice and how to get into this work because little Justice was very curios. It seemed to him she wanted to work for police when grew up.
There was one more person she liked to talk to but they didn't talk. They drew symbols to each other. His name was Evan James and he was an orphan just like Justice. He already spent year in this house before Justice was brought in. Evan lost his parents when those went to a charity event and got killed after when they decided to take a small walk in a downtown park. There were five guys and only Evan's father who tried to fight them. They killed the mother first and then the father and dumped them into the small river in that park. An early morning jogger found them collapsed under the bridge and called the police.
Evan was very bright and smart boy he read a lot and he thought a lot. Nobody knew what he was thinking about. He didn't have friends just like Justice and that was why these two became friends. It happed on Easter Sunday morning. Justice was alone on the back yard drawing something on the sand with a long branch of a bush. Evan set next to her with a similar long branch and started to draw… symbols. Justice replied with her imaginary symbols and that was how they spent that Easter Sunday morning. They repeatedly did the same ritual every morning before school and they enjoyed it.
In three months they had created the whole new sign language and only those two could read it. They wrote letters to each other and discussed everything what was happening in the orphanage and outside of it. The new sign language allowed them to help doing homework the language included numbers but in different symbols than usual. Teachers tried to stop this new language but kids were coming back to it every time. Justice found this symbol language very calming and understandable. This language and James Gordon with his police stories was more than enough interaction for the girl. She never made friends or talk to other kids, she stayed in her comfort zone and protected her boundaries. Sometimes she dreamed about her mother and what would they two do if they were together still.
