Omake: Ramen

"You want ramen?" Izuku Midoriya questions, not sure if he heard her right.

Ochaco Uraraka enthusiastically nods her head. While holding up a notepad saying as much.

A bandage is wrapped around her neck. The results of an exercise gone wrong as she got accidently chopped in the neck by Dark Shadow and she accidentally inhaled a little too much smoke while at the U.S.J.'s Conflagration Zone. And so she's under the strict orders of Recovery Girl to not use her voice which is already quiet and squeaky because of the smoke.

"We can go after school." Mina offers, having been eavesdropping on them. "I think there's a few nearby."

"Great!" Izuku grins while Ochaco happily claps.

"Hehehe."

The three teens freeze in place, a shiver running down their spine as the hair on the back of their necks stand on end. They can feel a presence watching them, glaring at them with what they assume is ill intentions.

"Oh, you poor naive children." A creepily grinning Thirteen appears from around the corner. Their head held high as if looking down on the students. "You can't just go to any random ramen shop, you know? But don't worry, your teacher is here to set you all on the right path!" They give a dramatic pose and flourish as they point out into the distance.

Ochaco gets sucked into the enthusiasm, becoming excited and giddy herself.

Mina and Izuku, however, stare on with deadpan expressions. "You seem way too enthusiastic about this."

"Ta-da! This is the place I recommend, "Ramen Darou!" Thirteen introduces after they arrive at their destination. They have ditched their hero uniform for more comfortable clothing, leaving their feminine face exposed and brimming.

Ramen Darou is a cute little noodle shop with big clear windows, bar seating, and a fast-moving line of people is already inside, a clear sign that this place is worth paying for.

"Oh, isn't that Darou shop famous here?" Mina asks.

Thirteen happily answers. "Yes!"

Mina then turns to the temporarily muted Ochaco. "But will you be okay? I heard their portions are quite big and oily-"

She's cut off as Ochaco shows her the notebook with an already premade message that reads: Let's go anyway. Not that she needed to show it as she's already drooling from the thought of having a bowl of steaming hot ramen all to herself.

Thirteen, however, turns uncharacteristically serious. Acting like a professional food critic who needs to explain the history of a restaurant before dinning in it. "It's true, it has a very solid image. After all, I guess an ordinary person would probably drop by there alone and not in groups—" They ramble on and on, muttering away a storm that even throws Izuku, the muttering master himself, for a loop.

"Thirteen? Thirteen?" He calls their name rather cautiously, feeling very off put for being on the receiving end of a muttering storm.

Thirteen jumps getting all embarrassed. "Ah! I'm sorry. I get like that when it comes to food, I like too much."

Mina and Izuku laugh it off and they all make their way inside.

Inside there's a large vending machine-like device where they order their food through. All they have to do is pick a ramen option, pay, take their ticket, and sit down.

A line is already forming behind them as Thirteen steps up to pick their choice.

Mina waits behind them, chatting their ear off as she does. "These stores have their own rules, I saw it on television. Oh, I wonder if I should order the same as Thirteen-"

But she's cut off as Thirteen coldly, calculatingly, turn s around and places a heavy hand on her shoulder.

"GUILTY…" The word is no louder than a whisper in her ear, but it tolls like a heavy gavel of a judge in court.

Mina even stumbles, having been caught off guard by the sudden knowledge that she did something absolutely egregious.

FIRST RULE OF "RAMEN DAROU!"

DON'T SPEAK.

Mina shakenly sits down with her ticket, unsure what to make of all this. And what that a god's voice yelling rules at her? She must be going insane!

Meanwhile, Ochaco goes up and orders quickly and without a word.

And then it's Izuku's turn, and he quickly or rather slowly learns what rule number two is.

SECOND RULE OF "RAMEN DAROU!"

YOU MUST BUY THE TICKET FAST AND TAKE A SEAT.

He's taking to long to choose, hovering over one option to another. And apart it takes so long, just one minute, that the other people in line begin to throw him dirty impatient glares.

"Oh, s-sorry!"

He quickly chooses and sits down where they learn of rule number three.

THIRD RULE OF "RAMEN DAROU!"

WHILE YOU WAIT CALMLY YOU SHOULD PRAY TO THE OWNER FOR WHAT YOU WILL GET.

And Thirteen is doing just that, looking like they're in a middle of a zenfull meditation.

To which Mina is thoroughly wired out by. But she's not as weird out by that than she is by the owner of the shop!

He's a big man with huge muscles and menacing presence. He's definitely been in jail before and she kinda suspects that maybe he's killed before. But then again, the only emotions she can sense from him are genuinely happy and calm. So maybe he's more of the friendly giant type.

As he preps the noodles the giant of a chef turns to them, making them shiver and shrink under his gaze.

But then he asks in the most soft-spoken voice they have ever heard. "What do you want with it…?"

'So quiet!' They're not even sure they heard him properly it was so quiet and soft spoken.

Thirteen, however, heard him perfectly and answers quickly. "Caramelized Noodles full of oil, with a bit of garlic and some veggies."

'A chant?!' Mina and Izuku gasps, reeling back from how fast and precise Thirteen delivered their order.

Mina and Izuku, still thrown off by the weird experience so far, repeat word for word what Thirteen said.

But then the owner turns and asks Ochaco for her order in that same soft-spoken voice. "And you, miss…?"

Ochaco, unable to speak, goes for the notebook but then realizes that she lost her only pen. And so unable to speak she just ends up staring into the owner. The quiet man stares right back, neither exchanging a single word.

But then he seems to brighten up and gets to work on her exact order.

'He got it?!' Mina and Izuku internally scream in shock.

He did and soon he presents them all with their orders. Starting with the first three he slams down massive bowls of ramen that is just a mountain of food with veggies, and such all piled up on top to the point you can't even see the noodles underneath.

Thirteen is ecstatic, her eyes beaming in joy as she dives right into the mountain of food. "Let's eat!"

Mina and Izuku, however, just stare in defat at their bowls as they realize that they made a huge mistake. 'T-This is too much…'

But then he gifts them Ochaco's bowl. And it is perfect. It somehow has a killer shine to it thanks to the light coming in front he windows, making it sparkle. It has just the right number of veggies and noodles, not too much and not too little. It's perfect.

She eats it quickly. Slurping it up at once without spilling a drop all until there is nothing but water left in the bowl.

And with her meal done she silently gets up, smiles and bows at the chef in gratitude for the meal before leaving. Thus, completing the ramen shop's full ritual.

FOURTH RULE OF "RAMEN DAROU!"

EAT QUICKLY TO MAKE ROOM FOR MORE CUSTOMERS.

Thirteen perfectly demonstrates this rule after slurping up the last of her water and noodles. "Thanks for the food!"

Too bad neither Mina nor Izuku got the message as they just continue to stare at their bowls for too long.

"Noodles got soggy…" They both pout, knowing that it's rude to not finish their meal.

Afterwards the two got stomach aches thanks to all the food they had to stuff down. But somehow Ochaco was able to convince them to make her a promise that they'll come back once classes start back up.

*UPDATE* Sorry for not updating last week. The last two weeks have been very busy, so I didn't have enough time to write up an Omake for last week. This also means my progress for the "Three Heroes Arc" has taken longer than I wanted. Part II will be complete by the end of the weekend. But I am unsure if Part III can be done in two weeks. Next time I post an Omake I will try to have a for sure answer on when I will post the next full chapter. Promise.

Thank you for your patience guys it really means a lot. And trust me I think this will be worth it since that means I will be able to update at a more efficient rate later on.

*HINT* But I will give you something to get excited about. I will be introducing a Ben Ten villain into the "Three Heroes Arc!"
