Sin Will Cry
Chapter 6 Envy

Dante, Lady, Trish, and Nero made their way through the city streets and soon came across an area that appeared to be a park. The park at one point had been beautiful, but when the Sins and demons showed up it fell into ruin along with the city. The trees were dead and the place was covered in weeds and garbage. Dante and his team headed into the park and came across a crude fortress-like structure made out of wood, rocks, and wrecked cars.
"What a dump." Said Lady.
"Looks like the kind of dump a demon would live in." Said Dante.
At that moment a ugly humanoid vulture-like demon in ragged armored cloak appeared on the wall. The demon held a long wooden staff topped with a spiked skull with horns and wore a talisman that resembled a demon's skull with fangs, metal horns on the side, and glowing green eyes.
"Humans? I didn't think there were any of you left in the city. No matter I have you all to myself!" Said the demon in a female voice as she looked down at Dante and the others.
"I take it you're Envy?" Asked Nero.
The demon didn't deny or admit it's identity.
"Well she isn't fat, so she can't be Gluttony. Not too fierce or lazy enough to be Wrath or sloth. She clearly isn't rich or attractive, so she isn't Avarice or Lust. And she clearly doesn't have much pride in her appearance so she isn't Pride. So that just leaves Envy." Said Dante.
"Well they say that Envy is an ugly thing and that is a ugly demon up there." Said Trish.
"Well this should be an easy fight." Said Dante as he took out Rebellion.
"Easy?! Who do you think you are?!" Demanded Envy.
"Names Dante and I'm the son of Sparda. I'm here to take the amulet you stole and put a end to your little party." Said Dante.
"Sparda! I will not fall to his offspring! The amulet is mine!" Yelled Envy as she fired a blast of energy from her staff at Dante and the others forcing them to jump out of the way.
Envy then leaped off the wall and slammed her staff on the ground unleashing a wave of energy that knocked Dante and the others back.
"To me!" Yelled Envy to the fortress.
The doors flew open and a large green and grey demon with fiery hands know as a Gholen stomped out followed by a few dozen Abyssal Riders charged out to fight.
"Will deal with the small fry, you deal with the ugly buzzard." Said Lady.
"Fine by me." Said Dante.
The devil hunters charged forward and met Envy and her forces. Lady shot demons with her pistols, Trish struck some demons with her lightning, Nero went after the Gholen, and Dante went after Envy.
Nero ducked a claw slash from the Gholen and slashed it across the belly with Red Queen sending the demon reeling back. The Gholen snarled as it lunged at Nero, who sidestepped it and fired a few rounds into the demon's back with Blue Queen causing the demon to fall to it's knees. Nero leaped into the air and stabbed his sword through the Gholen's back and killed the demon.
Dante swung his sword at Envy, who blocked with her staff and pushed Dante back. Envy fired some energy from her staff forcing Dante to leap to the side. Dante drew his pistols and fired a few rounds at Envy, who deflected them, with her staff. Envy lunged at Dante swinging her staff, only to have Dante block the blow and shove Envy back. Dante leaped forward and delivered a couple of blows from his sword that struck Envy and sent her crashing to the ground. Envy rolled along the ground a couple of times and leaped back to her feet.
"Have to say for an old bird, you're pretty tough." Said Dante.
"I'll kill you and take everything you own!" Yelled Envy as she began to levitate in the air.
Envy conjured up a enormous energy blast and hurled it at Dante. Dante leaped forward and met the blast with his sword. His hands shook slightly as he wrestled with the blast, but then he pushed right through it and flew at a very startled Envy. Dante's blade struck Envy and sent her flying back. Envy flew and crashed hard against the wall of her fortress with a loud crack, before falling to the ground in a heap with a broken neck.
The last of the demons were killed and the four devil hunters went over to Envy. Dante reached down and took the amulet off the dead demon.
"Anyone have any ideas how to use this thing?" Asked Dante.
"Try pointing it at Envy." Suggested Trish.
Dante pointed the amulet at Envy and her body turned into glowing green energy that was sucked into the amulet. The first sin had been captured.
