Chapter 4: A Brewing Storm.
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha!
Inuyasha sat at his desk looking over his charts trying to chart their next destination out. Sighing as he tilted the chair on two legs, he stared at the maps but for the life of him couldn't seem to focus on them - the feeling something bad was about to happen building by the minute.
Grumbling to himself as he tossed the quill pin down, Inuyasha rose his arms over his head and arched his back sighing as several satisfying pops echoed in the air, he figured it was a good time to take a break and go pick on Miroku a little bit. With that in mind he stood up and made his way towards his door and out of it, walking towards his very good friend as he counted out shares to hand out to the next person.
Smirking ever so slightly to himself, Inuyasha walked up behind Miroku. "16, 20, 10, 15."
Sighing Miroku took the gold pieces off the scale and sent the man behind him a glare but didn't say anything in fear the crew will overhear.
Inuyasha sent an innocent look back towards Miroku then plopped down in the chair beside him, sighing.
"Have a lot on your mind?" Miroku asked as he was recounting the gold pieces making sure he talked low so the other people around them would not hear. The crew did a slight chuckle at their antics, they knew that the two shared a special bond but that didn't bother them in the slightest. Everyone had their person, or people that they brought into the pack - as was custom with certain species of demons, such as dog as Inuyasha was. They already knew that their captain had accepted their quarter master into his pack, so this kind of behavior between the two was not only customary but also welcomed within the crew.
Sighing Inuyasha responded in the same low tone. "I can't shake this feeling that something bad is going to happen. Shit with the jewel missing the world is already going to shit! How much worse can it get than that? Why am I having this feeling?" He growled low in his throat so as not to make the crew suspicious until he absolutely knew what the fuck was happening.
"Jeremy!" Miroku called out, handing the bag of gold, silver and brass pieces to the man that stepped up to the table.
"Thank you, sir." Jeremy accepted the bag with a bow as he turned to leave the ship. Inuyasha had decided to stay in Tortuga for at least a night so the crew could have a break.
"Whatever is causing the feeling," Miroku went back to speaking low to continue the conversation they were having. "We can handle it - we'll be okay, we'll beat it just like we always are."
"You're right, I just don't like how these feelings make me feel. I feel so off balanced right now." Inuyasha sighed.
"William!" Miroku called the next person, not really knowing what to say to the captain - luckily the captain just accepted the silence and the conversation dropped and he continued handing out the shares.
Once the shares were handed out and the last crew member left the ship Inuyasha stood up and looked around him at the quite sea. This feeling wasn't like any other feeling he's had, except for one he had about two hundred years ago when the world was in mortal danger no thanks to the bastard Onigumo. "Bastard deserved what he got." Inuyasha scoffed.
"Who deserved what he got?" Miroku asked confused.
Inuyasha looked over at Miroku. "Onigumo."
Miroku nodded. "What brought him up in your mind?"
Sighing, Inuyasha thrust a hand through his hair. "The feeling I have now is the same feeling I had when Onigumo almost destroyed the world by shattering the jewel."
Having heard the stories about what Onigumo did and the devastations he caused by doing what he did, Miroku narrowed his eyes. "You think someone is trying to steal the shards that are left?"
"I'm almost certain." Inuyasha answered.
*BREAK*
"Captain! What's going on?" Sango asked as she ran out of her room hopping on one foot trying to get her boot on her foot.
Kagome looked back at her and tried not to laugh at the funny sight - now was just not the time for making jokes or for laughing. "I had a premonition."
Sango's eyes widened as thought and possibilities of what could be happening went through her head. Though, Kagome having premonitions was very rare - this one being her third one since the six years she's been on board - they always came to be true. "What was it about?" She asked as the crew members ran all around them doing their jobs.
"Naraku. He's going to steal the remaining jewel shards that's sustaining the worlds life source." Kagome answered.
"Oh, shit." Sango mumbled.
"Yeah, we're fucked." Kagome answered.
"Okay, then what are we going to do about it?" Sango asked as she folded her arms across her chest.
"What we do best." Kagome smirked. "We're going to fuck his shit up."
"That's what I like to hear. So, what's the plan?"
"You're going to be in charge and sail to Spain." Kagome answered her.
Sango nodded. "Where are you going to be?"
"I need Kilala. I have to find Inuyasha. Once you get to Spain, wait for me to get there. Don't leave the ship." Kagome ordered and watched as Sango nodded as she handed Kilala over to Kagome.
"Thanks." Kagome said as she turned her attention to the rest of the crew. "Listen up!" She yelled over all the commotion from the crew and continued talking once all eyes were on her. "I have to go find Captain Inuyasha so Sango will be in charge until I come back. If you so much as fuck one thing up while I am gone, I'll throw you overboard!" Kagome threated making the crew gulp knowing from experience that she wasn't exaggerating.
"Aye, Captain." Kagome's crew hollered out and Kagome nodded and tossed Kilala into the air.
The crew gasped as a ball of fire erupted around the small kitten and flinched when the fire dissipated leaving a huge ferocious cat beast in place of the kitten. This wasn't the first time they saw this happen, though, it's not something that you got used to easily - especially for the newer crew members that had never seen it happen before.
Climbing on Kilala's back, Kagome looked back at Sango. "I leave the crew and the ship in your hands until I get back." Once Sango nodded Kagome sent a slight kick in Kilala's side making the giant cat take off flying through the air.
Watching as Kagome rode the winds, Sango sent a secret smile. "I won't let you down."
*BREAK*
As Bankotsu sailed through the sea making his way towards Spain he noticed Naraku coming out of the captain's cabin and make his way towards where Hiten was swabbing the deck.
"Hiten!" Naraku barked out making the other man jump slightly and stand up to address the captain properly.
"Yes, Captain?" Hiten answered.
"You and your brother can cause storms, right?"
"Yes." Hiten answered. "We are The Thunder Brothers after all."
"Good, good." Naraku said as he turned away from Hiten. "Kagura!"
"Yes?" Kagura said as she appeared right next to Naraku.
"I want you to create winds that reach every part of this world, as well as your Dance of the Dragon. Got that?"
"Aye, Captain." Kagura replied as she nodded her head.
"Well, get on it!" Naraku ground out when neither one of them moved.
"Aye!" They both called out as they went to the most promising place to fulfill their orders - the helm's deck.
"Manten!" Hiten called out catching his brother's attention. "Come up here, I need your help!"
"Yes, brother." Manten answered as he made his way towards the helm's deck.
Hiten filled in what he and Manten were ordered to do and with Manten's nod of approval they both got to work with gathering up storm clouds and spreading them across the whole sky.
Kagura watched, waiting patiently for her to start up her winds. As the sky was almost devoured by black and grey clouds, she unleashed her winds. Slow and gentle at first, but slowly building in the speed and deadliness.
Naraku stood back watching, waiting for destruction to strike. He didn't have to wait long, however, as the first lightning bolt lit up the sky and the first rumble of thunder rent the air. Sighing in satisfaction, he made his way up the steps to the helm's deck.
"How close are we to Spain, Mr. Bankotsu?" Naraku asked as he made his way to stand by the man he addressed.
"We should be there by the days end." Bankotsu answered as the slight wind whipped at his hair.
"Excellent." Naraku smirked darkly.
