Chapter 6: The Theft.

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha!

A young woman in her twenties was working in her garden pulling out herbs that were ready, survived the storm and that she would need if anyone came needed medical treatment - which was very likely after the odd storm that was still going on but seemed to be dying down some. She was the village's nurse and priestess, and she worked here with a half horse demon, which was the village's doctor. She was a strong woman - a woman that they whole village trusted to protect them and keep their family, land and everything else safe from whatever or whoever might come to destroy them. She had cold black eyes and long straight black hair that she let hang lose against her back and hips, she wore a white long-sleeved shirt with red baggy pants.

She and the doctor both worked in a small shack on the beach, which contained a great secret that the village nor even the doctor knew resided there. The woman had hidden/protected the item for many of years and she was bound to keep it a secret from whoever wish to hurt the world.

"Lady Kikyo! Lady Kikyo!"

The sound of her name made Kikyo straighten up from picking herbs from her garden and look behind her to see the doctor running up with a concerned look on his face. Kikyo, however, wasn't all too worried - the doctor was a timid creature, and everything scared the poor man.

"Jinenji?" She said in her monotone voice. "What's wrong?"

Jinenji pointed towards the shore. "There's a ship coming." He panted.

Kikyo got a slight look of surprise on her face before it went emotionless once again. She looked towards the shore and spotted the ship that was still quite a bit away from the docs but was obviously heading for their docs. A sinking feeling filled the pit of her stomach as she thought of what the people on the ship possibly want with their tiny village - a dozen possibilities ran through Kikyo's mind, and she prayed to the Kami that it was one of the nonhostile possibilities - she didn't feel like much fighting today, it was far too windy and rainy for anything like that today - she thanked her lucky stars that the twisters had subsided, now she just needed to focus on the injured people that were bound to come this way. However, if she had too, she would protect her village with her very life!

"Kikyo? Is everything okay?" An old woman asked as she hobbled out of the shack. She had long gray hair that she kept in low ponytail she wore the same thing that Lady Kikyo wore and she a slight hunched back.

Kikyo looked back at the old woman and her face softened ever so slightly. "Granny Kaede." She whispered with a sense of fondness laced in her voice. "Everything is okay as of right now, there's just a ship coming. Now, please go back inside where its dry, you'll catch your death out here." She said as he tried to lead the old woman back into the shack.

"Just because I'm old doesn't mean that I can't stay out here to help if I am needed! I am not made of glass you know!" Kaede said as she side stepped Kikyo and walked further on the beach and waited for the ship to doc.

Kikyo sighed and went to stand beside Kaede - she knew that it was pointless to argue with her granny because she would lose at the end anyway, she always did. The old woman was far too stubborn to just sit on the sidelines watching everyone else do what they could for the village - she always was in the mix doing what she could to help out. She sighed once again and shook her head slightly then waited by the side of her granny for the ship of arrive.

*BREAK*

The rain was still coming down, though not as hard, and the wind was still going strong - though not blowing nearly as hard as it was before - as the last few of the twisters continued to make the sea angry.

There was nothing around but the raging waves and the dying down storm, but as the clouds started to part and a few rays of sunlight escaped - a beast of wet fur burst out of the water and into the air. The cargo on its back took a deep raspy breath that quickly turned into a series of coughs.

Flying through the air Kilala shook her head to rid her of the water that was lodged in her ears as she went back in search of Captain Inuyasha's ship.

As her coughing subsided Kagome put her hand against the side of Kilala's face. "Are you okay?" She asked and cleared her throat of the remaining rasp.

Kilala sent her a reassuring growl as she flew through the air making Kagome smirk. "Then let's find Inuyasha and save the world!"

Still having to look out for the few remaining twisters and the killer waves, Kagome and Kilala both kept their eyes peeled for anymore danger.

About an hour later Kagome was growing irritated because her hair and clothes clung to her skin, which she absolutely hated the feeling off, and the still raging storm around - which she was trying desperately to ignore because she knew if she paid any mind into her fear the mission would be ruined, and the world will die. "Where the fuck is he!? Kagome growled as she bended the air to go around both her and Kilala to act as an unbrella of sorts. It served its purpose by keeping the rain away from them and making it easier for her to see.

Sighing in somewhat relief Kagome continued her search hoping to find Inuyasha soon so she could dry off and save the world. However, as another three hours passed with no sign of him her confidence was beginning to waver and just as she was about to give up and fly towards Spain to handle the situation herself - she spotted his ship in the docs at Tortuga.

"Finally!" Kagome sighed in relief and slightly smiled as she and Kilala flew lower to land on the ship.

Landing on Captain Inuyasha's ship Kagome wasted no time as she jumped off of Kilala's back and ran towards Inuyasha's room. Not bothering to knock she used her momentum to burst through the door - barely turning the handle in time so she didn't actually break his door.

Jumping about ten feet in the air, both Inuyasha and Miroku jerked their heads towards Kagome ready to attack whoever dared trespass onto this ship.

Quickly realizing who it was they both straightened out of their poses and ran towards Kagome. Inuyasha did a discreet sniff to make sure he didn't smell any injuries on her then sighed with relief when he didn't smell any sign of a fatal injury.

"Kagome, are you okay? What happened? What are you doing here? How did you get here?" Inuyasha started rambling off questions.

"I'm fine. I needed to find you, so I borrow Kilala from Sango and flew to find you but got caught up in the storm and almost swallowed up by the sea." Kagome answered as she used her wind powers to dry herself off.

"Swallowed up by the sea? Kagome are you stupid? What could possibly that important that you try to do anything in this kind of storm!?" Inuyasha growled angrily at her then winced as he realized that he was yelling and growling. It's not that he meant to snap at her, it's just that he didn't want anything bad happening to her and even though he was never by her side, he wanted to do everything in his power to keep her safe and alive.

Not paying any attention to Inuyasha yelling at her - she was used to his protective side; he'd been like that since they were little. "I needed because I need your help."

"My help?" Inuyasha asked as that bad feeling he'd been having all day doubled. "With what?"

"Saving the world."

*BREAK*

Arriving at the docs of Spain, Naraku stepped off the ship, with everyone else that was on the on board, with a sickening grin on his face. As the group made their way towards the two women and a giant orange beast of a man the storm stopped completely.

"Who might you be?" Kaede asked.

"My name is Naraku." Naraku answered.

"What's your business here?" Kikyo demanded to know.

"My business here." Naraku spoke smoothly. "Is simple, really, and if you comply with my needs then you and everyone else will live."

"And if I don't comply?" Kikyo asked.

"Then you and everyone else will die." He spoke calmly as if he was talking about the weather.

Kikyo nodded. "I see. Well, what is it that you require?"

"Oh, nothing much really." He said casually as he looked off the side. "Just a trinket, really a trifle."

"Trinket? What trinket?" Kaede asked.

"I require the sacred jewel shards." Naraku smirked as he slowly looked back towards the three people standing in front of him.

Kikyo, Kaede and Jineni all jaws dropped opened as they heard what he had to say. "You can't take the shards." Kaede said as she was the first one to get over the shock. "The world would cease to exist."

"That makes no difference to me." Naraku said as he shrugged his shoulders.

Shaking her head, as if to wake herself back up, Kikyo took a step forward. "And how do you plan on surviving if the world is destroyed?"

"With the power of the sacred jewel shards, I'll have the power to be able to survive whatever may come my way." Naraku informed. "Now, either give me the shards or die!"

Kikyo and Kaede got into defensive poses and took out their bows and arrows while Jinenji - the timid type that he was - went off to take cover somewhere else.

Naraku smirked as he motioned towards The Band of Seven and stepped to the side out of the way.

Stepping forward with his brothers Jakotsu sighed. "I would much rather be with Inuyasha than here with women." He sneered. "But, oh well. The faster I kill you, the faster I can get to Inuyasha." He yelled out as he swung his sword towards Kikyo and Kaede.

Kaede gasped in surprise as the simple looking sword turned into what she could only call a sword snake and with her quick thinking threw up a barrier around her and her granddaughter.

Jakotsu smirked. "Hide all you want! No one has been able to escape my Jakotsuto! I'll cut you to pieces!" He screamed out as he swung the sword snake back at them.

Kaede grunted as the sword made contact with her barrier. 'This won't hold up for long.' She thought as she felt the sweat drip down her forehead. She wasn't young anymore and her body couldn't hold up a barrier as she could in her past and Kikyo never had the gift of erecting a barrier. 'We're in trouble.' She thought as she watched as the sword came at them once again.

Grunting again as the sword hit the barrier, Kaede watched as the barrier faltered just a bit before regaining its protective force.

Kikyo pulled back an arrow on her bow and released it. The arrow flew through the air and hit its target which was the snake sword rendering it useless as the arrow sucked all the demonic properties out of the sword.

"You bitch! What the hell did you do to my sword!?" Jakotsu yelled out.

Not bothering with an answer Kikyo pulled back another arrow and sent it towards Jakotsu again.

Dodging out of the way. "Nice try wench but I'm not so easy to kill." Jakotsu said as he smirked toward Kikyo.

"Oh no! Kyokotsu!" Bankotsu called out making Jakotsu's smirk to fall and his eyes to widen as he turned to look at his fallen brother with an arrow going through his skull.

Before Jakotsu could do anything, however, Mukotsu growled out. "You stupid bitch!" He ground as he opened up a container containing a black mist that made its way over to where Kikyo and Kaede stood.

The two women didn't move, thinking that the barrier would stop the poison from entering but gasped out in shook as they watched it break through and surround them in the thick smoke.

Not being able to breathe, Kaede dropped her barrier hoping that the poison would disperse. It did, but it was too late - the poison already did its damage.

As the vision of both women's vision blurred and before they knew it, they were unconscious.

Naraku let out a dark chuckle as he walked forward towards the shack. Opening the door, he made his was and search the entire place until he came across a door that was locked. "This has to be where the jewel fragments are." He whispered to himself as the kicked the door down.

Stepping inside the room and laughing maniacally as he saw the stump that contained the remaining jewels. Walking towards them he quickly picked them off one by one until none was left and quickly put them into his body laughing even harder and wilder as he felt the power pulse through his veins.

Walking out the shack feeling stronger than ever, Naraku looked over to where his helpers were and saw that The Band of Seven were still bent over the dead Kyokotsu. "Leave him! Let's go!" Naraku growled out, and though they didn't want too, they left because they could sense the danger they would be in if they were to defy him.

"Where's the heading, sir?" Bankotsu ground out still saddened and angered that he had to leave one of his brothers behind.

"We are going to start our search for both the captains and the rest of the jewel shards in Brazil." Naraku answered.

"Aye, sir." Bankotsu sighed as he made his way to the wheel.

SEE YOU NEXT TIME! PLEASE REVIEW.

A/N: I decided to make Kaede Kikyo's Grandmother for this story. It just didn't make any sense that she'd be her sister in this story because Kikyo never died, so yeah, Kaede is Kikyo's Grandmother. Hoped you like this chapter!
