A/N: Sorry for the late update! Had to plan for my oldest son's birthday and then my youngest son got sick. Thank you for the review and yes, I will continue until this story is finished!
Kagome and Inuyasha stood on the deck of Inuyasha's ship looking out in the distance they could see Spain and surmised that they'd be there within two hours, give or take.
"I can't believe that we're finally here." Kagome sighed in relief and smiled up at Inuyasha but he wasn't looking at her, he was looking out at Spain with a look of apprehension making Kagome frown in concern. She opened her mouth to ask if he was okay, but Inuyasha's sigh stopped her from asking.
"Yeah, I can honestly say that I never thought I'd ever step foot on Spain." Inuyasha said.
Kagome narrowed her eyes up at him. "What are you not telling me, Inuyasha?"
Inuyasha didn't turn to face her though his eyes did glance at her before turning once more towards Spain. "Nothing. Nothing at all." 'Everything will be alright, if I don't run into her.' Inuyasha thought to himself.
Kagome wasn't convinced in the slightest, though, she did drop the subject with a roll of her eyes before turning back towards Spain with a 'Uh huh, sure' thrown out in Inuyasha's direction.
Inuyasha's already laid-back ears flattened against his head even more, he hated not telling Kagome of all people the truth, however, he knew she'd absolutely flip her shit if she ever found out his secret. He just hoped that coming to Spain wouldn't destroy the friendship between them.
"I wonder if Sango made it here, okay?" Kagome whispered with concern.
Sighing in relief that she had dropped the topic of him not wanting to go to Spain, Inuyasha turn towards her and put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "I'm sure she did."
Kagome sent a slight smile in Inuyasha's direction before turning back towards Spain. "Yes, so am I. Sango's a strong woman and even a stronger pirate. So, I am positive she had made it through that storm."
Inuyasha glanced at Kagome and noticed as she chewed on her lip looking every part of a worried captain. "But?"
Kagome turned towards Inuyasha with concern and worry written plainly in her eyes. "But what if she didn't make it?" She asked.
"Kagome." Inuyasha started but Kagome interrupted him with a panicked look and a gasp.
"What if she did make it but is badly wounded or all the crew is gone? Or what if she's dead!?" Kagome listed off as she started hyperventilating. "I'm a horrible captain! I should've never left them!"
Inuyasha reached out grabbing Kagome by the shoulders and gently shook her. "Kagome! You can't thank like that! It'll eat your very being. You just have to believe that everything is alright until it's proven otherwise!" He ordered her as he gently shook her once again to get his point across.
"Captain!" Miroku called out as he jogged to where the two captains were standing.
"What is it Miroku?" Inuyasha asked letting his hands fall from Kagome's shoulders.
"Look." He said as he pointed towards the docs. "Isn't that Captain Kagome's ship right there?"
Both Inuyasha and Kagome snapped their necks towards the docs and simultaneously blowing out breaths of relief as the got a clear look at the docs and saw Kagome's ship as it bobbed in the gentle waves of the ocean.
*BREAK*
Sango was busy walking the deck looking out for any missed damage that she had yet to instruct the carpenters of the ship to fix. She was trying her absolute best to not think of the condition of either her best friend or her two tailed cat, however, no matter how hard she tried to keep horrible thoughts out of her head - she just couldn't keep the worry about her two best friends away.
"Miss. Sango!" Shippo shouted excitedly catching Sango off guard making her jump and turn her attention to the small fox child. "Look!" He said pointing out towards the open sea.
Sango followed her finger and saw a very familiar pirate ship coming their way. A smile erupted across her face as she ran to the side of the ship waving her hand above her head excitedly. "They've made it!" She whispered to herself as her arm lowered back down to her side.
"They've made it, Miss. Sango." Shippo repeated as he climbed up her body to sit on her shoulder. "They're okay."
Sango couldn't keep the smile off her face as she watched as Inuyasha's ship made its doc. She watched as Kagome jumped from Inuyasha's ship to her own ship as soon as Inuyasha's ship was stopped. She watched as Kagome ran her way to where she stood to stunned to move. She watched as Kagome looked her over and sniffed her for any invisible injuries. She watched as Kagome then took Shippo looking him over and sniffing him as well. She watched as Kagome breathed a heavy sigh of relief as she hugged Shippo close to her and looked her way.
"I'm glad you all made it through the storm!" Kagome said as the pride and relief rang clear in her voice. She hugged Shippo tighter against her as she waited for Sango to say something. She raised her eyes to look at Sango and gasped when she saw that Sango was biting her lip with tears in her eyes. "Sango?" She whispered then gasped when Sango threw herself at her squeezing her in a tight hug.
"I thought I lost you!" Sango sobbed. "I was so worried!"
"Sango." Kagome whispered once again as her arms came up to give Sango the same tight hug as tears ran unchecked down her own cheeks. "I was so worried about you too!"
As the two women continued to cry, Inuyasha and Miroku walked up to where they were standing.
"My dear Sango! How relieved I am to see that you are alright!" Miroku said as he draped his arms over the two women.
"Don't get any ideas Miroku." Sango rolled her eyes as she shrugged out of Miroku's hold on her, however, her smile was still in place.
"Ideas? Why I'm sure I have no idea what you mean." Miroku said with an innocent smile.
Sango sent Miroku a look that showed that she obviously didn't believe him. "Uh huh sure."
*BREAK*
Thirty minutes later Inuyasha and the others were walking down the beach looking for anything that might help them find who they were supposed to find they noticed that the land didn't look as alive as it should have been.
"What's going on here?" Sango asked looking around at the seemingly decaying land.
"No idea." Miroku answered as he too looked around.
"I've got a bad feeling about this." Kagome added as she took in her surroundings as well.
They were all too busy taking in the dying town that they didn't notice the growing irritation coming from Inuyasha until he growled making them all jump and snapped their attention towards him.
"Damn it! This is taking forever!" Inuyasha growled as he looked around feeling like the woman that he didn't want to run into was very close.
"What's wrong with you Inuyasha? We've only been walking for about twenty minutes." Miroku pointed out.
"Yeah, what's the rush?" Sango added.
"Nothing." Inuyasha ground out. "Just the sooner we can leave the better."
Kagome sent him a look that clearly said that she didn't buy his quick dismissal of Miroku and Sango's questions but before she could say anything Sango interrupted her.
"Hey, look over there!" Sango shouted pointing ahead of them towards two women as they walked out of their shack. "Maybe they'll be able to help us find what we're here to find."
Kagome looked to where Sango was pointing and gasped. "She is who I needed to find!" She said as she started jogging towards the unaware women. "Excuse me!" She shouted out.
The group noticed the two women looking toward Kagome and saw as the older one grew a smile on her face. Curious as to who these women were the rest of the group speed up their walk to a jog as well, reaching the three in time to hear the old woman's words.
"So, you've finally arrived have you young one?" The old woman said.
"Naw, what gave you the first clue old hag?" Inuyasha grunted out.
"Inuyasha! There's no need to be rude!" Kagome chided Inuyasha. "Sorry about him, he's just cran-"
"Inuyasha?" The younger woman called out interrupting Kagome.
The group all turned their attention towards the younger woman in confusion as to how she knew Inuyasha.
"Oh great!" Inuyasha grumbled. "Just my fucking luck!"
"Inuyasha?" Kagome whispered. "Do you know her?"
"No!" Inuyasha answered a little too quickly. Before anyone could say anything else the old woman chuckled gaining everyone's attention.
"Let's go inside for some tea and introductions, shall we?" The old woman gestured towards the shack for emphasis.
"You sound familiar." Kagome said towards the old woman as they stepped into the shack.
"That's because you've heard my voice before dear one." The old woman smiled towards Kagome.
Kagome gave the old woman a strange look before realization dawned on her. "You're the voice in my dreams! You led me here!"
The old woman chuckled. "Yes, I am and yes, I did. It's nice to finally meet you, Kagome. My name is Kaede, and this is my sister Kikyo." She introduced both of them.
Kagome looked towards the woman named Kikyo, the woman that was supposed to teach her how to see the jewel shards and the woman that seemed to know Inuyasha. "Um, this is Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango and Shippo." She introduced all her friends.
"It's nice to meet you all." Kaede bowed her head slightly in greeting.
"It's nice to meet you as well." Sango returned the bow with one of her own.
"Um, I'm sorry but how do you know Inuyasha?" Kagome asked Kikyo.
"He's my-"
"It's not important!" Inuyasha snapped cutting Kikyo off.
"Obviously it is, or you wouldn't act this way, Inuyasha!" Kagome shouted at him. "Now, I want to know how she knows you and how you know her!"
Inuyasha sighed and looked down at the ground. "She's my intended." He whispered.
"Your what?" Kagome asked not hearing him.
Inuyasha sighed once more and looked up speaking more clearly. "She's my intended."
Kagome's mouth dropped as her heart fell down to the pit of her stomach and shattered into a million pieces. She remembered how close they were the other night, how he had touched her face, how he had tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear, how it seemed like he was about to kiss her - and probably would have if Miroku hadn't interrupted. She remembered sharing a bed with him - and though they didn't do anything she still felt dirty for that - and finally she had remembered how he had kissed the top of her head before the both of them fell asleep. She felt like she was about to get sick but tried to hold back the bile as it threatened to escape.
"She's your what?" Kagome whispered.
"Kagome." Inuyasha said.
"Answer me damn it!" Kagome shouted as she snapped her head to look at him. "She's your what!?"
