Chapter 15: Is Knowing Really Better Than Not Knowing?
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha!
Kilala walked up to Kohaku and did a happy meow, though, Kohaku didn't respond or look at the feline.
Kilala seem to think this is Kohaku. Sango thought to herself as she took a step forward.
"Sango?" Kagome whispered placing a hand on Sango's shoulder. "Who is that?"
Sango opened her mouth to respond, however, never got the chance to as the boy Sango called Kohaku sprang into action taking out his demon bone sickle making everyone freeze and Sango's heart drop in the pit of her stomach. Taking another step towards her younger brother and reaching her hand out towards him but jerking it back and clutching her hand on her chest when he raised his sickle even higher.
"What's wrong Kohaku? Don't you recognize me?" Sango asked as her heart cracked, what had happened to him?
"Don't waste your breath! His mind has been erased; all his memories are gone!" Kagura said in her bored tone.
"What do you mean 'all his memories are gone'?" Sango asked.
"Are you daft, woman?" Kagura sneered. "I mean that he has no more memories of anything! Not you, or your parents or friends - nothing. It's all been wiped clean. You should feel so lucky that Naraku was there that night and took pity on his poor soul and brought him back from the dead."
"What do you mean 'back from the dead'?" Sango whispered as her heart cracked even more.
"Woman!" Miroku said walking to stand in front of Sango. "Let Kohaku go, now!"
"Naraku was there that day and maybe gave a tip to the demon that destroyed your village that the demon slayers were looking a bit thin that night." Kagura said completely ignoring Miroku. "Kohaku was on the verge of dying and had it not been for Naraku, he would have died - you should be thanking him." She said with a smug smirk on her face before turning to look at Miroku with a scowl. "As for you, the names Kagura you impudent fool! And if I let him go then I'd have to take the jewel shard out - if I take the shard out Kohaku will die. But if you insist." She said in a singsong voice as she slowly started to reach for the jewel embedded in Kohaku's back.
"No!" Sango screamed as she took a few more steps forward with an outstretched hand. "Please don't."
Kagura let a twisted smile spread across her face and let her hand fall back down to her side. "Okay, if you say so." She said as she looked everyone in the eye. "You will all know soon enough that all your fates are tied with Naraku."
"What is that supposed to fucking mean?" Inuyasha growled out.
"It means that, you Inuyasha, lost Kagome all those years ago because of what Naraku did." Kagura said with a bored tone that matched with a bored look on her face.
Inuyasha growled and Kagome gasped neither not liking where this was going at all. "Explain!" Inuyasha snarled.
"Kagome, you listen up too because it involves what happened to your tribe." Kagura said looking at Kagome before turning back to look at Inuyasha. "The general your father hired to look after the tribe while you both were gone - he worked for Naraku and had very strict instructions to wipe out the lunar wolves. Seeing as you are alive." She said looking back at Kagome. "He didn't succeed."
Kagome felt the air being forced out of her lungs as her eyes stung with tears she refused to let fall. She looked down at the ground and balled her hands up in fists, shaking with furry. "Why?"
"Naraku got word, from a demon that can see the future, that one person belonging to the lunar wolf tribe would be his downfall, so he had them annihilated." Kagura said turning her gaze to Miroku. "As for you, you ever wonder why your father's gang was called The Spider Gang?" When Miroku didn't answer Kagura rolled her eyes. "Because Naraku is a spider half demon. He recruited your parents and promised them all the drugs in the world if they did his dirty work for him. For example, hurt people, or even kill them sometimes if said people didn't heed Naraku's warnings, that owed Naraku money. If anyone in the gang didn't want to comply with how things went, they died by the hands of your father and mother. Hmm, they almost killed you too, didn't they? How sad it must be to be killed by your own parents; wouldn't you say?"
Miroku's eyes widen as memories that he didn't want came back to the surface blocking his airways. All the pain, all the bleeding, the thoughts that he was going to die but then Inuyasha showed up and saved him in more was then one and he was able to breathe again. It made sense really and he was able to let the information roll off his shoulders, though, he vowed to kill Naraku for the emotional damage that he caused on Sango and Kagome - they didn't deserve their whole family being ripped away from them!
"Couldn't tell ya, because as you can see, I'm alive." Miroku grumbled.
Inuyasha drew his demon sword out, seeping his demonic energy through the sword allowing it to take its true form and transforming it into a giant fang. "I'm tired of hearing you babble on about shit that's in the past!" Inuyasha yelled running towards where Kagura stood.
"Sorry to disappoint you." Kagura said as she threw her feather up into the air before both her and Kohaku jumped on it. "But that was all I was supposed to say so I think I'll take my leave now." Once she was finished talking a twister of wind engulfed Kagura and Kohaku for a few minutes before dissipating and revealing that Kagura had gotten away.
"No!" Sango yelled running to the spot where Kagura and her brother once stood with tears running unchecked down her face. "Please! Bring him back!" She crumbled to the ground, weeping, causing Miroku to run over to her falling on his knees to envelop her in a bone crushing hug murmuring promises that they WILL get her brother back!
"At least you know he's alive." Miroku murmured in her ear.
That sentence broke her down even more. Yes, she knew he was alive - only because of the jewel shard, if that were taken out, Kohaku would die. Not only that, but Kohaku was under some type of spell that he didn't even recognize his own sister, she felt her heart break into two pieces. "Yeah, but is knowing really better than not knowing?"

Arriving back on the deck of Naraku's ship, Kagura sighed as she looked around at all the men running around completing their duties.
"Did you deliver the messages Kagura?" Naraku asked as he stood behind her.
Rolling her eyes, Kagura nodded in affirmative not bothering to look at him.
Smiling a twisted smile Naraku turned to look at the horizon before calling for Hiten and Manten. "It's your turn to pay Inuyasha and the others a little visit, they will be in Brazil for a while looking for more jewel shards there. Have fun." He said when the two men appeared in front of him.
Cackling evilly Manten formed a cloud that he could float on while Hiten ignited his special shoes so he could fly alongside his brother.

Walking in the direction that Kagome saw three more shards at, Inuyasha and the others were walking in a leisurely, yet with troubled thoughts. None of them could stop thinking about Kagura's little visit and it ate at them.
"We've been walking for hours!" Inuyasha gritted out as he cut more vines out of their way. "How much further are they, Kagome?"
Kagome grunted as she tripped over, yet another tree root glaring at it while trying to keep her composure and not have a mental breakdown - that's like the one hundredth tree root that she had tripped over, and it was getting real old real fast. Mumbling under her breath about stupid tree roots Kagome took a calming deep breath and blew it out in a huff before focusing ahead of them.
"Uh, about a mile ahead of us, not too much further - thank the Kami." Kagome said in a voice that everyone could tell was irritated.
"What has your panties in a twist?" Inuyasha asked with a roll of his eyes.
"Because!" Kagome ground out, her eyes alight with furry. "I am so sick and tired of tripping over tree roots I want to cut them all the fuck down!"
"You are the clumsiest half demon that I've ever met." Inuyasha shock his head in faux disappointment - he just loved to rile her up sometime.
Kagome growled shooting daggers at Inuyasha. "Shut the fuck up!" She said as she moved on without the others. "Now, are we going to get these stupid jewel shards or not!?
The others followed her snickering quietly.
"I can fucking hear you!" She yelled back before tripping over another tree root. "Mother fucker! Bitch, whore, piece of fucking dog shit on the bottom of my fucking shoe!" She screamed as she kicked the tree that tripped her up making the others laugh out loud.
"Who the fuck are you laughing at!?" Kagome snarled at her so-called friends making them laugh even harder, though, the laughter didn't last for very long as a gigantic half bird half person, with two heads, came out of abso-fucking-lutely nowhere and swooped Kagome up in its giant claws making Kagome shriek in horror and try her best to escape.
"Kagome!" Inuyasha roared as he ran after the bird creature.
Kagome couldn't move having both of her arms in a vice like grip in the feet of this monster bird. She tried to think of a way out, tried to think straight as the blood pounded in her ears making it hard to hear even her own thoughts. Without really thinking about it she swung her body as hard as she could and kicked the demon in the gut making the bird thing his in pain and tighten his claws even tight on her arms making her cry out in pain. She started to panic, she didn't know a way out and they were getting higher up in the air. Suddenly, a lightning bolt came up from down below just barely missing the giant bird.
Cackling with glee the giant bird flew even higher in the air. "What a stupendous day for the birds of paradise, my brother!" One head said to the other.
"Yes! What luck that a sacred jewel would show up without us having to search for it." The other head said right before a giant boomerang sailed through the air slicing one of the huge wings clean off.
The bird of paradise screamed in pain while Kagome screamed in horror as she began to fall from too high for her to land without hurting herself.
Inuyasha bent his knees, putting all of his weight on the balls of his feet before shooting straight up in the air to catch Kagome and setting her down safely back on the ground. As they landed, however, a whole slew of the damn demon birds came out from behind the mountains dead set on revenge for their fallen comrade. However, Inuyasha made quick work on them by BBQing every single bird of paradise with a single wind scar.
"Well, well, well. That was surely entertaining." A deep voice resonated from behind them as the sky grew darker with angry looking clouds making the group turn around to see who was talking. "But now the real fun begins."
