Sunset was walking through the forest as her mind was plagued with thoughts. She stopped and sighed; the girl then pulled out and tossed several Pokéballs in the air. Out popped her Pokémon from before as they all looked at their Trainer.

"He's gone," said Sunset as she informed her Pokémon and kept walking toward the Pokémon Center.

The girl's Pokémon all looked at each other when they heard about Sunset and Fletchling.

"So the kid's no more, huh?" said Jolteon.

"What do we do now?" asked Machamp.

Chimchar had its head down before lifting it and having a determined look.

"The objective is the same. We move forward. She needs us. We can't let her down." Chimchar reminded the two that they had to keep their promise to Sunset. They were going to help the girl in achieving her goal.

Sunset entered through the doors as she approached one of the video phones. Soon the person she was contacting came up.

"I... did it," responded the bacon-haired girl.

"I see..." said the person she was talking to as she'd been informed about the girl's decision on what she did before her doing it. "So... what are you going to do now?"

"I don't know," answered the girl honestly.

"Hmm... And how do you feel about your decision?" asked the person in a gentle tone.

"I... I... I don't know," responded the girl as she was experiencing all sorts of emotions.

"Oh my, you caught a Fletchling, huh?" stated Celestia.

Sky was contacting the Pokémon professor, surprised to see the small robin perched on the boy's shoulder.

"Yup, and it's pretty strong," said the boy as he looked at Fletchling.

"I see... well, remember that just as Pokémon and Trainer work together to get stronger, the same thing holds true for Trainers!"

"Hold on. What do you mean?" asked the teen to the woman.

"I'm speaking of you and your Tag Battle partner, Sky!"

"Oh... you mean Sunset," growled the boy as he put his head down upon hearing that name.

"With only two battles left to go, I'm sure you'd like to win, right?" asked Celestia.

"Yeah," answered the boy.

"You do your best, and you're sure to beat the rest!" stated the professor as she came up with a little rhyme on the spot.

Applejack was in the lobby of the Pokémon Center as she was currently looking at her badge case. The country girl was looking at her two badges as she was thinking about how far her journey had taken her. She'd decided to call her family as she informed them of how she'd been since leaving. They were happy to know she was having fun but was a quarter of the way to competing in the Equestrian League.

The farm gal promised her family that she would continue working toward her goal, and when the chance came, she would stop by the farm the moment she could. Right now, the teen was thinking about her next gym challenge. Twilight said they would head toward two gyms if they took the northern path. The one in Hayseed Swamp housed the Grass gym, and the other was the Water gym at Mt. Aris. To reach them, the group would have to head north to a fork in the road, where each path led to a different gym.

Applejack was looking at the two gyms and the current Pokémon she had. Aside from her Breloom and Heracross, the girl didn't have a good Pokémon to counter either gym, given Donphan's weakness. So it seems the girl would need to search for a new Pokémon to add to her team. Something that could help her with both gyms.

The girl stood up and exited the Pokémon Center as she saw that nighttime had fallen with the sun setting just a few moments ago. The cool breeze she felt reminded her of many nights at the farm as it made her smile.

"So, what Pokémon could I find to help me?" wondered the girl in a part of Canterlot City selling some fruit.

She purchased an apple and began to eat it while thinking. The girl passed an alley as she heard something. Applejack quickly walked back as she peaked her head to look down the corridor. She heard a noise as she looked to investigate it. Aj got a few steps in as she saw what made the noise and made her gasp.

"Sky! Sky!"

The boy had ended his call when he turned to see the farm gal running in.

"Hey, Aj," said the boy.

"Guess what I got, sugarcube," stated the girl.

She had a Pokéball in her hand before tossing it as it opened. It shot out the light and took a form as it revealed the creature left behind. Standing there as it shook its head was a medium-sized canine Pokémon with a slender body with olive green fur covering its midsection. Its upper half was covered in yellow and white colored fur.

"Never seen that Pokémon before," responded the boy as he pulled out his Pokédex and pointed it at Aj's new team member.

"Boltund, the Dog Pokémon, and the evolved form of Yamper. This Pokémon generates electricity and channels it into its legs to keep them going strong. Boltund can run nonstop for three full days. It sends electricity through its legs to boost its strength. Running at top speed, it easily breaks 50mph."

"So, that's a Boltund, huh?" said Sky as he looked at Pokémon.

The canine barked before turning to look at Aj as it approached her hand. He licked it before gently nuzzling it. The girl smiled as she scratched the dog's ear and got it to sit.

"That's a good boy," said the girl as she scratched Boltund's head and ears, enjoying it.

"You made a new friend," said Sky as he bent down and patted the dog. "So, where'd you find him?"

"I found him in an alley," answered the girl.

Aj recalled how she found the Pokémon going through some trash when she walked down the alley. The dog had its head in a box full of peanut butter as he was licking it away. Its tail was wagging furiously to show its level of excitement. It popped its head out as it had its mouth stuck in a jar of the sticky stuff. It whimpered as it tried to use its paws to get the container off but couldn't.

It was when Applejack approached the canine that it saw the teen. She put her hand out to show it didn't mean any danger as she got ahold of the jar and yanked it off with one tug. The dog rubbed its mouth with one of its front legs and then trotted to the girl; it sniffed her hand, recognized her scent of dogs, and immediately fell in love with the girl.

"After that, I just pulled out a Pokéball, and he got in willing," said Aj.

"Well, you're one lucky dog, pal. You got the best Trainer and owner you could ever ask for," said Sky.

Boltund gave a bark as he seemed to agree with the boy. The farm girl took in what her friend said as she couldn't help but smile. Her gaze at Sky warmed her as her heart beat a bit.

"Speaking of which, let me show you something?" said Sky as he pulled out a Pokéball and out came Fletchling.

"So you got a new Pokémon as well," said Aj. "Wait a minute... sugar, ain't that Fletchling belong to Sunset."

"Yeah, well... long story short, she set it free. And it's now mine."

"Ling," said the small robin as it perched itself on the shoulder of its new Trainer.

"I wonder how Sky is gonna handle Fletchling," muttered the girl to herself.

The next day came as it was the final day of the Tag Battle Competition. Everyone was excited as only one team would emerge as the winner by the end of these final three battles.

"The first quarterfinals match is history!" said Mayor Mare.

"And the first team to move into the quarterfinals is that of Silverbolt and Applejack, which on the final day has their great combinations looking sharper than ever!" said Night Light.

The screen behind the two officials showed the boy and girl on the sidelines as they were about to watch the next match unfold. Aj had debuted her newly caught Boltund for all to see, as it was a nice addition to her team.

"So now, let's bring out the quarterfinal second battle teams!" said Mayor Mare.

"It's the team of Fluttershy and Twilight versus the team of Sky and Sunset!" stated the girl's father.

Gathered on the field were the two teams as they were looking to get it on.

"Fletchling," said Sky as he pulled out his Pokéball and shot a light by his feet.

"Ling," said the small robin.

"I want you to watch this battle, okay," said the boy as the small robin smiled and perched itself on his shoulder.

Sunset merely scoffed at the pair.

"Come on, Fluttershy. Sky may be our friend, but he'd want us to treat him like any other opponent," said the bookworm as she tried to convince her friend not to back down or worry about hurting him.

"O-Okay," said the shy girl as she took a deep breath.

"That's the spirit. We've come too far to fail now!" said Twilight.

"Just think, Aj. We're going to be facing whoever wins this battle," said Silverbolt.

"Yeah, I know," responded the country girl, as she'd be lying if she said she was hesitant about facing her friends.

"Trainers, show your Pokémon!" said the ref.

"Noctowl! I choose you!" shouted Sky as he threw his Pokéball.

"Meganium, show no mercy!" said Sunset.

"Now, Espeon, let's go!" said Twilight.

"Eevee, help me, please!" stated Fluttershy.

Noctowl appeared as he gave a sound and hovering above the Pokémon Sunset called out. It was a tall, heavy Pokémon with a light green body, a pink, white, and yellow flower around its long neck, and yellow eyes. It also had a stubby tail, three small pointed claws on its feet, and two long yellow antennae on top of its head. Aside from its antennae, its head was almost bald, as unlike its evolutionary relatives, it lacked a leaf on its head.

"What's that?" said Rainbow as she watched with the others and took out her Pokédex to scan Meganium.

"Meganium, the Herb Pokémon, and the evolved form of Bayleef. The fragrance of Meganium's flower soothes and calms emotions. This Pokémon gives off more of its becalming scent to blunt the foe's fighting spirit in battle."

"Sounds powerful," said the chromatic-haired girl to Sunset's Pokémon.

"It's quite an interesting assortment of Pokémon," said Rarity.

"All right. Battle begin!" shouted the ref.

"Now, Noctowl, Sky Attack on Espeon!" instructed the boy.

Noctowl flew up higher before racing forward and surrounding itself in its attack.

"Espeon, Quick Attack!" instructed Twilight.

Espeon began to take off as it looked to intercept Noctowl.

"Eevee, Shadow Ball!" said Fluttershy.

The attack was created by the fox heading toward Meganium.

"Hyper Beam!" said Sunset.

Meganium immediately opened its mouth and charged its attack. It then let loose and fired the orange beam forward. It collided with the Shadow Ball. It didn't do anything, and pushed through it. The attack just gazed at Noctowl as it almost hit the bird and threw off its attack. The beam collided with Fluttershy's Eevee as it took its full power and was pushed back. A rumble and explosion occurred that shook the arena.

"Eevee!" yelled Fluttershy in horror.

"That's some power!" said Twilight, also in awe at Sunset's Meganium's strength.

"Noctowl!" shouted Sky as he saw his Pokémon being flung back by just barely getting hit by Sunset's attack.

The cloud then disappeared, and there was Eevee on the ground.

"Eevee is unable to battle!" said the ref.

"No! No!" shouted Fluttershy at seeing her Pokémon was down and out.

"And Eevee is gone in a flash!" said Mayor Mare.

"Meganium's power is undeniable!" said Night Light as he stroked his chin.

"You didn't have to hit Noctowl!" glared Sky at Sunset.

"It's not my fault your Noctowl's too slow!" responded the girl to her partner.

"Eevee," said Fluttershy as she fell to her knees.

"Espeon, use Quick Attack on Meganium!" instructed Twilight.

Espeon quickly took off as it used its window of opportunity to attack. And yet, Meganium stood there.

"Hey, why isn't Meganium moving?" wondered Rainbow.

"After pulling off a Hyper Beam, you have to recharge... which makes it a perfect time to strike," said Silverbolt.

"Noctowl, Sky Attack, one more time!" said Sky.

Noctowl was coming down at an angle as it charged up its attack. It then changed direction at a 90-degree angle behind the running Espeon.

"Espeon! Noctowl's right behind you!" shouted Twilight.

Espeon peeked out of the corner of its eyes and noticed its target. It was approaching Meganium as it quickly went under the larger Pokémon's legs which caught Meganium by surprise. It also surprised Noctowl and Sky as the owl put the brakes on and managed to stop its attack before crashing into its partner and changing direction to avoid it.

"And Espeon is situated directly in Meganium's blind spot," commented Mayor Mare.

At that moment, Espeon was shown leaping from behind Meganium and doing a front flip forward before bringing its tail down on the head of Meganium.

"Follow it up with Zap Cannon!" said Twilight.

Espeon leaped directly above Meganium and charged its attack before firing it. It made another contact with Meganium as the Pokémon felt it. It soon ended as it began to move one of its legs, signaling something to Sunset.

"Looks like Meganium's moving again," said Pinkie.

"Noctowl, turn around now!" said Sky.

"Leave this to me!" shouted Sunset at her partner. "Petal Blizzard!"

Meganium cried as it saw Espeon in the air and charged the flower petals around its neck. Within seconds, a whirlwind of petals headed straight for Espeon, still falling from its attack.

"Espeon!" shouted Twilight, trying to get her Pokémon to dodge it but couldn't.

The attack hit Espeon and pushed it upward as it felt Meganium's power. Noctowl saw the huge attack pillar before it ceased, and falling down rapidly was Espeon. It made a loud crash and crater in the field as when the dust cloud settled, Espeon was also knocked out.

"Espeon's unable to battle! Meganium and Noctowl are the winners!" said the ref.

"And that's the second battle. Espeon and Eevee just couldn't stand up to Meganium's ferocious attacks!" stated Mayor Mare.

"Thanks, Espeon. You did good," said Twilight as she recalled her Pokémon.

"I'm sorry, Twilight. It's all my fault."

"Don't worry, Fluttershy. It's all part of battling," said the bookworm as she assured her friend that she had nothing to do with them losing.

Noctowl returned as he perched on Sky's other shoulder.

"You did good, bud," said Sky to his Pokémon.

"Please! What the hell did you two do anyway!" scoffed Sunset. "You didn't do anything. It was all me!"

Sky and his Pokémon glared at Sunset for saying that as she glared back. She spotted Fletchling as the small robin backed off and looked away.

"Now the final match is finally on its way! And all the action begins later this afternoon!" said Night Light as he showed the screen of the two teams going to compete.

Sky was heading to the Pokémon Center to give his Pokémon one final check-up when he saw Sunset at the counter.

"Here you go, Sunset. I've finished taking care of your Meganium," said Nurse Hilda.

"Thanks," said the girl, grabbing her Pokéball and turning.

She spotted Sky as the pair glared at each other. It didn't last too long as she went on her way.

"All right, folks! This is it! The final match of the Canterlot City Tag Battle competition in our warm and kind city. And very soon, for their winning performance, one of our most gifted Tag Battle teams will receive their prize!" stated Night Light.

"All right! There's only one Pokémon I want to get this job done!" shouted Sky as he threw his Pokéball.

"Ling!" said Fletchling as he appeared.

"Fletchling?" said Applejack, surprised that Sky was using that Pokémon.

"I had a feeling Sky would do that," said Twilight to the other girls.

"Chimchar, show no mercy!" yelled Sunset.

Chimchar appeared as it noticed its former teammate. The small robin looked at its previous teammate before whimpering and looking back at Sky.

"Don't worry! Just trust me!" said the boy to his Pokémon.

Fletchling gave an affirmative response as it turned back forward.

"The fact that Sky has chosen to bring Fletchling into the battle leaves no doubt this lineup is destined to make things quite interesting," said Silverbolt.

He and Aj then grabbed their Pokéballs and threw them.

"Boltund, lend me yer strength!"

"Greninja, let's show them how it's done!"

The canine and ninja frog appeared as they had confident looks.

"No surprise with Applejack's Boltund and far as Bolt's Greninja. This isn't gonna be easy," said Sky to himself.

"All right, battle begin!" shouted Night Light as he would be the ref for this match.

"Fletchling, use Razor Wind on Greninja!" instructed Sky.

"Chimchar, Flamethrower!"

Both Fletchling and Chimchar fired their attack at the same time. They were heading for both Boltund and Greninja.

"Quick, Boltund! Use Wild Charge on Fletchling!" said Applejack.

Boltund quickly took off as it was showing off its speed. It was surrounded by electricity as it broke through the Razor Wind and collided with Fletchling, who was pushed back.

"Great work by Boltund, as Wild Charge stops Fletchling in its tracks!" said Mayor Mare, providing commentary. "But Wild Charge also does some recoil damage to the user." Boltund had electricity surroundings its body to signify that, but it didn't matter.

At that moment, Chimchar was shown in the air and preparing to fire its Flamethrower.

"Greninja!" shouted Silverbolt.

His Pokémon began to run as it leaped into the air and put itself between Boltund and Chimchar's attack. The Flamethrower did some damage but wasn't doing much against Greninja's Water-typing.

"Now, Water Shuriken!" said Silverbolt.

Greninja then threw a giant ninja-throwing star made of water as it pushed past the fire and collided with Chimchar. It was very effective as it knocked the chimp to the ground and tumbled as it got to a knee.

"It seems that Greninja and Boltund are proving to be a tough challenge for Fletchling and Chimchar!" said Mayor Mare.

"I hate to say it, Sunset. But if we don't start battling together, we'll lose this time!" said Sky.

"So what if we do?" responded Sunset.

"You do what you want, but I'm going to win this thing!" stated the boy to the girl's attitude.

"Chimchar, use Dig!" instructed Sunset.

Chimchar leaped into the ground and began to burrow itself.

"Chimchar's underground!" said Applejack.

"Don't worry about that. For now, we'll take care of Fletchling as planned," said Silverbolt.

"Right."

"Fletchling Double Team!"

"Boltund, Thunderbolt!" instructed Applejack.

The canine let loose a charged electric attack as it began to pick off the fakes one by one. Soon only the real Fletchling was left.

"Greninja, Aerial Ace!" said Silverbolt.

Greninja quickly disappeared, reappeared before the small robin, and delivered a devasting blow. The small Pokémon was sent to the ground as it crashed. It managed to get up as scuffs began to form on its body.

"Boltund, Thunderbolt!"

The canine fired another of its electric attack; it hit Fletchling dead on and dealt big amounts of damage. Just then, the ground below Boltund began to weaken and soft. Soon it lost its footing, and out came Chimchar, delivering a punch to its chin.

"Chimchar comes out of nowhere with a successful Dig!" said Mayor Mare as Sunset unintentionally saved her partner.

"Boltund!"

"Counterattack, Aj!" said Silverbolt.

"Right," said the girl to her partner. "Boltund, Thunderbolt!"

"Flamethrower!" said Sunset.

Both attacks were fired and collided in the center. It created a veil cloud covering the arena for most spectators.

"Fletchling, Steel Wing!" shouted Sky.

The small robin took off and had its wings spread out in a metal coating. It made contact with Greninja as the Pokémon was sent back.

"Follow it up with Peck!"

"Block it with Water Shruiken!" instructed Silverbolt.

The frog ninja pulled out one of its water-throwing stars to block Fletchling's Peck attack as it tried to hold the small thing back. Soon it managed to push Fletchling back as it tumbled through the air before straightening out and hovering before Sky and Sunset.

"Flame Wheel!" shouted the bacon-haired girl.

Chimchar turned into a wheel of fire as it was heading toward Boltund.

"Greninja, Double Team!" said Silverbolt.

His Pokémon quickly made copies of himself as they all leaped into the air.

"Now, Water Shuriken!"

All the Greninjas pulled out water-throwing stars and threw them at Chimchar as they dealt some big damage and flung the chimp back toward its Trainer. Fletchling saw its ally getting up as it was concerned. The chimp gave a defiant look as soon... something happened. Chimchar was engulfed in a bright white light.

"Now what?" said Sky as he and Fletching were shocked at what they saw.

"Finally!" smiled Sunset.

Silverbolt and Applejack were also seeing this from their side.

"Is that what I think it is?" asked the country girl.

"That's right. Chimchar's evolving!" shouted Silverbolt.

The light died down as it revealed an orange chimpanzee with a flame at the tip of its tail. It's beige coloring on its belly, hands, feet, mouth, and ears. The Pokémon also has blue and red markings on its face, small fangs, and a patch of red at the base of its tail.

"Mon... ferno!" yelled the Pokémon.

"Chimchar evolves into Monferno before our eyes!" said Mayor Mare.

"I've got to see this!" said Applejack as she pulled out her Pokédex.

"Monferno, the Playful Pokémon and the evolved form of Chimchar. It skillfully controls the intensity of the fire on its tail to keep its foes at an ideal distance. It uses ceilings and walls to launch aerial attacks. Its fiery tail is but one weapon."

Monferno began to bounce on its feet as its fists began to glow. Monferno was moving them at blinding speed before thrusting on out and creating a wind vacuum that blew in the face of Silverbolt and Applejack.

"Was that a new move?" said Sky.

"Perfect! Monferno, Mach Punch!" shouted Sunset with a smile.

Monferno leaped, reappearing before the Pokémon's face in the blink of an eye. It then punched it as its head turned from the impact and was sent tumbling back.

"Greninja!" shouted Silverbolt as his Pokémon struggled to sit up.

"It knocked Greninja down in one punch!" said Rainbow as she was impressed.

"Mach Punch is a Fighting type move and Greninja's part Dark-type. So that move was super effective!" explained Twilight.

"And Monferno's new power is tremendous!" shouted Mayor Mare.

"Alright, Aj. Let's attack to ensure they don't get the upper hand!" said Silverbolt.

"Got you, sugarcube."

"Greninja, Water Shruiken on Monferno!"

"Boltund, Thunderbolt on Fletchling!"

"Dodge and use Razor Wind!" instructed Sky.

Fletchling saw the attack coming as it quickly soared out of the way. It was now in Greninja's line of sight as it fired Razor Wind. It bypassed the Water Shuriken that was thrown and crashed into the Pokémon.

"Monferno, Flamethrower!" instructed Sunset.

Monferno opened its mouth and fired as compared to Chimchar's Flamethrower; this one was much more powerful and made contact with Boltund, who tried to get out of the way but failed.

"No!" shouted Applejack.

"Watch out!" said Silverbolt.

Greninja landed on the ground from Fletchling's Razor Wind as Boltund came in crashing on top of it. The attacks continued as they caused a chain reaction and an explosion. It shot up a cloud of smoke that kept whatever was inside hidden.

"All right, Fletchling, awesome move!" said Sky.

"Ling!" said the small robin as it turned to its Trainer.

"Boltund!

"Greninja!"

"Those Razor Wind and Flamethrower moves blended perfectly for an effective new combination!" said Mayor Mare. "Now, will Greninja and Boltund counter?"

The smoke cleared as shadows could be made out. Soon it faded as it revealed that Boltund and Greninja were down as they had swirls in their eyes.

"Boltund and Greninja are unable to battle! The winners are... Monferno and Fletchling!" said Night Light as the Pokémon processed what was said.

The crowd erupted in a roar as they cheered for them.

"And there you have it! The victory in this year's Canterlot City Tag Battle Competition goes to Sky and Sunset!" said the mayor as confetti began to shoot out and fireworks went off.

"Yeah! We did it!" shouted Sky as he jumped for joy while Sunset looked sternly.

Fletchling then landed on the boy's shoulder.

"See, Fletchling? You did great!" said the boy as he petted the Pokémon's head.

Monferno crawled over to Sunset as she looked at her Pokémon.

"Excellent work," said the girl to her Pokémon, especially for evolving.

Monferno nodded before Sunset gave it a treat. She stood up and called it back.

"Thanks, Boltund," said Aj to her newly caught Pokémon.

"You too, Greninja. You battled really hard right through to the end!" said Silverbolt to his Pokémon.

Soon it was time for Sky and Sunset to be awarded their prize as the pair stood on a podium with all the Pokémon they used in the tournament. On Sunset's side, she had her Monferno, Machamp, and Meganium out; on Sky's side, he had his Turtwig, Buizel, Pikachu, Noctowl, and Fletchling. Facing them was Night Light as he was also speaking into his mic to address the competitors before them and the crowd.

"Yes, there were a few scary moments, but this Tag Battle challenge has brought something new and exciting in you both! So now, I'm pleased to present you with the prize. For Sky, a medal, and for Sunset, a locket!" said Night Light as he presented the prize to the pair as they each grabbed their respective award from the tray.

"Thanks!" said the boy.

"Appreciate it," stated the girl.

"And let's also give a big hand to all the other Pokémon who battled so hard during the competition!" said Night Light as he turned to address the competitors before him and the crowd.

The competitors and crowd began to show respect and appreciation to both Sky and Sunset, as well as their team of Pokémon.

"If you ask me, I think Sunset's greatest reward was her Chimchar evolving!" said Rainbow.

"It's rather ironic that the least-suited team was the one that managed to win the Tag Battle!" said Twilight.

"I guess every rule has an exception," said Pinkie.

In the Pokémon Center, Sky and the others were all at tables next to each other. The boy had allowed the others to see his newly won medal as they congratulated him on winning and being able to put with Sunset of all people to win the whole thing.

"I'm proud of you, sugar. You've definitely earned this," said Applejack as she smiled, looking at the boy.

"Hey, thanks, Aj!' smiled the teen at the country gal.

"This was great!" shouted Pinkie as she was in the booth in front of the one Aj and Sky were seated in.

"It was a nice change of pace," said Fluttershy as she and Rarity were grooming Delcatty and Eevee, who were in the booth with Pinkie.

"It's never fun losing a competition," said Spike, seated beside his sister and dad as he drank his soda.

Night Light and Twilight smiled at Spike's antics.

"So, Twily? Are you gonna stay or head out with your friends again?" asked Night Light to his daughter.

"If it's alright, Dad. I think I'm gonna go with them," said the bookworm as she looked to her left and saw her friends seated across and talking with each other.

"I understand," smiled Night Light.

"Can I go with her this time, Dad? Please?" asked Spike.

"I don't know, son."

"I got my own Pokémon. And you said when I got my own, I can go," said the small boy.

"That will be up to your mother, son. She'll decide," said Night Light as Spike was worried that Velvet would say no.

While the friends laughed, their chatter was silent when Aj noticed something.

"Sky, it's Sunset!"

The boy turned as he saw the girl passing by their table. She was looking to head out and leave when she saw her partner. She quickly reached into her pocket and threw something at him. Sky effortlessly caught what she threw with one hand as he opened it to reveal the locket she had won.

"What's the meaning of this?" said Sky as he stood up to face her, which got the attention of the others.

"You can have it. I don't want it. Not much of a fan for jewelry." admitted Sunset.

With that, Sunset began to walk as she exited the Pokémon Center and went on her way. Sky saw her leave as he looked at the locket. The boy merely closed his hand and put the locket in his pocket.

"So, what's the plan now?" asked Rainbow.

"Well, the plan is to head north. There are two gyms in that direction," said Applejack.

"The gym near Hayseed Swamp and at Mt. Aries, right?" said Fluttershy.

"Yup. And I already know which I'm going to face next. I'm going to take on the Grass Gym!" declared Sky.

"Well, we got other plans," said Rainbow. "We're gonna head to Mt. Aries for the Water Gym."

"Well, we still have quite a way to go before we reach the fork in the road. So we could all travel as a group again for old times," stated Silverbolt.

"I'm down for that!" stated Pinkie, as she was happy they all would get together for a bit longer before splitting up.

"Then it's decided!" said Sky as he smiled at his comrades.

As the Canterlot City Tag Battle competition wound down with all our heroes as skilled participants, Sky was able to claim victory again, along with a new team member! However, the journey is far from over, and the new destination has been decided.

Author's Note: And so the competition has come to an end. Yet, despite their differences and being two opposite sides of the same coin, Sky and Sunset managed to claim victory. Along with a couple of things, Applejack has secured herself a new team member by gaining a Boltund and Sunset showing she has a Meganium on her team which packs a punch based on how she one-shotted both Twilight and Fluttershy's Pokemon. And it's been decided on what gyms our group will tackle next.
