Chapter Four: Plans and Surprises (Edited)
"Hello Master Danny. Mistress Paulina, Mistress Samantha." Sebas said as he opened the door.
"Hello Sebas." Danny said as he walked past his butler.
"Your father wishes to talk to you." Sebas said.
"I am rather busy at the moment." Danny said.
"He says that it rather important and I was to inform you to meet him the moment that you arrived home." Sebas said.
'I hope this will be quick.' Danny thought to himself wondering what assignment Vlad had in mind for him now.
They were going to the training room to see what abilities that Paulina was going to gain from the akuma Clockwork had given her. They had decided to come to his house because there were a lot of objects that they could use for practice.
"Very well." Danny answered with a sigh. "Sebas lead the girls to the training room."
The three of them agreed that it was best to train Paulina in an area that had plenty of room while holding targets that they would not miss if they got destroyed. It just made perfect sense for them to go to his house. They are going to test her powers by destroying the drones that Vlad kept in storage. He had more than he needed that a few being destroyed would be no big deal.
"Is there anything that I can do for you and your friends while you talk?" Sebas asked.
"Some food will be good. We have a lot of work to do." Danny said as he handed him his bag.
"Very well." Sebas said as he moved to the kitchen.
"Good luck." Sam said.
'I am going to need it.' Dany thought to himself as he walked through the mansion and ended up in Vlad's study.
"You wanted to talk to me?" Danny asked as he opened the door and looked at Vlad.
"I wanted to tell you that I will be gone for two weeks." Vlad said.
"Where will you be going?" Danny asked.
He was wary as whenever Vlad left; he came back with something that would go on to become a bigger problem for him. The last time Vlad went somewhere he had to go to Paris. He would like to prepare for whatever mess Vlad was going to drop on him.
"Nowhere special. Just a reunion with some friends. I have some things to do." Vlad said.
The first people he thought of when Vlad brought up the word friends are those freaks in The Guild of Calamitous Intent.
The Guild is this super-secret united club of supervillains. Regular people did not even know that it existed. The guild formed as the villain's way of controlling the chaos between themselves and the heroes. It was led by the Sovereign and his council of twelve. They are a group of villains that are chose by the current Sovereign. To ascend to the role and lead the guild the apprentice had to take down their mentor.
Both the heroes and the villains respected it even though they hated each other and constantly tried to kill each other. At least it proved to him that bureaucracy is an invention by evil. There was some evil bastard getting enjoyment out of making others perform long hours of paperwork. The Guild ranked criminals from level One to level ten and placed them against equally leveled heroes.
The members' rank rose or lowered depending on the resources that they had available to them and actions that they had taken. Vlad for instance is a level nine villain due to his powers, his influence, and his actions against the world.
The guild held a collection of varied individuals. Of those he had met there were some that he did not mind, some that he hated, and some that he would set on fire if they ever made eye contact.
"Will you be working while you visit your "friends"?" Danny asked the air quotes clear to the both of them.
"I do not plan on staying longer but there may be some things that I wish to gain while away that might change those plans." Vlad said.
"Okay so you are going to be leaving a duplicate to take your place." Danny said.
It was not the first time Vlad had left the city while leaving a duplicate in place to take care of his job.
"I am not going to make a duplicate." Vlad said.
"What do you mean?" Danny asked confused.
The mayor could just not leave for an undetermined amount of time. The people that elected him would probably throw a fit and the newspaper would start asking questions and looking into Vlad's actions.
"I think it is time that I trusted you with more responsibility." Vlad said.
The man acted as if he had not been sending him on countless assignments.
"What do you mean responsibility?" Danny asked.
"You will take my place as mayor." Vlad said.
"First thing is that I do not believe that is legal. Secondly, I know you do not think much of the people of this town, but they will notice when their mayor has suddenly become a teenager." Danny said.
"Don't act stupid. I built this so nobody is going to ask such questions." Vlad said as he put his finger on a watch and slid it forward.
"What does it do?" Danny asked as he looked at the item.
Perhaps some type of mind control machine? Whenever somebody questioned him, he hit them with a dose of it and they would just go on their way.
"This is an image inducer. It will form a holographic shell around the individual that wear this and give them a preselected image. When you activate it, the inducer will give you, my appearance." Vlad said.
"Why?" Danny asked horrified that he would look like Vlad.
It is one of his worst nightmares.
"You should not be so reluctant and see it as an opportunity. There are many things you can achieve as mayor. " Vlad said.
That is true. As Mayor he would have control over the town's police. He could have them tail Otto and make that man's life a living nightmare.
"What's with that smile on your face?" Vald asked.
"Don't worry about it." Danny said as he took the image inducer and stood up. "I'll make sure that no one even notices that you are gone."
Now it is time to get back to the others and help train Paulina.

"Are you ready?" Danny asked as he stared at his friend.
The three of them had agreed that it was best that they knew what Paulina could do before they went and challenged Otto.
"Yes." Paulina said as she opened her mirror. "Mirror, shine brightly."
The transformation sequence began. Paulina rose a few feet in the air and her clothes began to change.
"Where is the music coming from?" Sam asked.
"No idea." Danny said but stood still and watched the change. "Maybe Clockwork created it this way."
Paulina's clothes changed. It started wither her sneakers changing to yellow boots. Then golden bands appeared on her hands.
"Why would he do that?" Sam asked.
"Because it is cool. You don't need a reason beyond that." Danny said.
Then Paulina's shirt and pants began to change into a red bodysuit that showed every curve that her body had. In the center was a yellow lightning bolt. It ended with a yellow cape appearing around her.
"How do you feel?" Danny asked as he watched Paulina float above the ground.
"I feel great." Paulina said as she flexed her arms.
Danny could see the muscles Paulina's powers had given her and he had to admit that she looked hot. It was like she had gone to the gym and gained a body of befitting an amazon princess. Everything had filled out to the point where she would make models jealous.
"Danny." Sam said snapping her fingers in front of his face.
"What?" Danny asked as he turned to see Sam.
"I said we have to test Paulina's skills. It's why we came here." Sam said. "Remember?"
"Right." Danny said.
"The book says that you have the abilities of flight, super strength, and electrokinesis." Sam said as she looked through the book that Clockwork had given her.
"Those should be easy enough to train." Danny said.
He had experience with those powers so it should not be difficult to teach control to Paulina.
"Let's start with super strength." Danny said as he walked to the closet and brought up a statue of Vlad.
"Alright what am I doing?" Paulina asked as she started twitching her fingers.
"First I want to see if you can bench press this statue." Danny said as he used telekinesis to have the statue float behind him.
"Really?" Paulina asked.
"Breaking the stuff can come later. First, we need to see how you can hold things and for how long." Danny said.
That was how he planned to spend the afternoon. Seeing how much Paulina could lift, how long she could hold the statue with one hand, and finally seeing how many punches it would take to break the statue to dust.
"How long do you think we should do this?" Sam asked.
"I think about twenty minutes each test and then we can watch some movies." Danny said not wanting to push Paulina too far too fast.
He knew plenty of mad scientists that would do such a thing and it usually ended up with their subject rampaging through the town. He would like to believe that the three of them had more common sense than that.
