He woke up smiling. He wasn't too thrilled about working on a Sunday, but he did like his job and the message he got the previous night from his girl was enough to keep him smiling for the rest of the year.

It was still pretty early but he had to get Gracie out of bed and take her over to Bob's before it got too late for him to arrive in the district. He got her stuff ready and hooked her bag on his shoulder as he scooped her out of bed not even trying to wake her up, in addition to being useless, it was also cruel to do that so early.

Gracie barely stirred when Adam put her in the booster chair and she slept all the way to her grandpa's house. Bob still had the guest room arranged for her, so as soon as they got there he put her down to bed and she slept through the whole thing.

He was the last to get to the district but luckily he was still on time. Hailey handed him a cup of coffee and an egg sandwich because she knew the morning was going to be complicated.

They had been working on this case for a while now, and if everything turned out right they were closing it today. The thing was that this could go nice and easy or it could get long and tiring, so they had to be ready for either one of those possibilities.

Kim woke up around nine in the morning, pretty early for a Sunday where no alarms were set.

She grabbed her phone to check the time and the weather, like she always did and she found an unread message from last night.

I wish you could hear how fast my heart is beating for you right now.

Have a lovely Sunday, I'll call you when I get home from work.

Love you

He had the ability to make her feel all warm inside even when he wasn't around. She smiled at her phone and put it down to get ready for the day. Once she got back to her room and opened up the curtains letting the sun come in through the window, she got back in her bed, placing a tray with her coffee mug and some toast and jam on her lap. She knew that he was working and that it was unlikely for him to get back at her soon, but she still wanted to reach out.

Good morning detective, hope you catch all the bad guys. Can't wait for that call.

Big kiss. I love you too.

Be safe, alright?

Morning babe.

I hope we catch all the bad guys too and maybe manage to end this thing early so I can stop by to kiss you.

His reply came faster than she expected.

Tell you what, why don't you stop by and kiss me no matter what time you finish?

Don't mind if I do. I'll text you later, gotta run.

The rest of the day she didn't do much. It was beautiful outside so she went for a walk and stopped over at Sylvie's place just to hang out.

She also got ahead of her school work and getting her notes ready for the report cards that we're going to be due any minute now and that time of the year was pretty hectic so anything she could get started now was going to be a huge relief in the future.

As it was getting closer to the night and there were no messages from Adam she began to get worried. She always did when he was out on the field; it probably had a lot to do with her past and she tried really hard to keep that under control but sometimes her anxiety and her fears opened up old wounds that she didn't want to revisit.

When her phone finally chimed, Kim almost jumped at the sound, she was trying to stay busy keeping her mind off her worries. As she picked up the phone, she felt the tension on her shoulders ease when his name popped up on the screen.

We just finished and I know it's late.

His cryptic message left her confused.

Hmm… does that mean you're not coming?

I just don't want to bother you, I know you wake up early tomorrow.

She didn't write anything, just sent him a picture of her coffee table and two empty beer steins on it.

Well… I'm here, alone, waiting for my man to come and have a beer with me. But if you're too tired I'm sure I can find someone else to join me.

Lol. I'm not that tired as to pass that invitation. I'll be there in ten.

Can't wait.

Just like he said, he was there in ten minutes. She opened the door and didn't even let him step in when she almost jumped in his arms crashing her lips on his.

"Hi, this is a nice welcome."

"I'm happy you're here." She took his hand and they both walked inside. Kim stayed a step back and locked the door. She watched him carefully move around her place and leave his duffel bag on one of her chairs. "How was the case?"

"Intense. Really intense, but it's finally over and now I get to have a few minutes with you." He walked closer to her and hugged her waist as he dropped his head on her shoulder feeling her gently rubbing his back.

"You really are tired, aren't you?" He nodded, still against her shoulder, no matter how tired he was he didn't want to let go of her. "I feel bad for pushing you to come now." He moved his head and looked at her.

"Nonsense. This is the best way to end a busy day."

She leant in closer and kissed his cheek as she lightly scratched his beard. "Go sit down, find something to watch and I'll take care of the rest." He smiled and pecked her lips before doing as he was told.

When Kim came back with the beer and some snacks, she found him skipping through the channels until he settled for a random movie that was just starting.

"How was your day?" He asked as soon as she sat next to him.

"It was nice. I got started on some work, went out for a walk, saw Syl. It was very Sundayish." She heard him chuckle as he was reaching for his beer. She wanted to put something out there, but wasn't so sure about it, so after some seconds she just spoke. "I know you didn't want to talk about it in person, and I will respect that, but I wanted to tell you that I loved your card." She said as she moved around the couch until she finally found the position she wanted; sitting behind him with each one of her legs to his sides.

"I loved your letter, too." He smiled when he felt her hands massaging his shoulders and his eyes instantly closed. "What are you doing?"

"Helping you relax."

"Well baby, I think you're doing quite the opposite." He let a soft chuckle loose.

"Do you want me to stop?"

"No. Keep going, it feels great."

She really did want to help him loosen up his tension, she kept working on his shoulders and his neck, it was obvious how stressed he was.

"When are you picking up Grace?"

"In the morning. It's late and she's asleep already, so pops told me to leave her there." He felt her lips on his neck and he knew her head was running wild.

"Do you wanna stay here?" Her hands found their way under his shirt and she was running them up and down his chest. "You could take a warm shower, relax, and then we go straight to bed and sleep until the alarm clock rings." Her voice was a soft purr against the shell of his ear.

"Hmmm, I don't know. I think I need a little more convincing." He joked

"Ok, let me rephrase that." She kissed his neck softly and started again. "We could take a warm shower together, relax, and then we go straight to bed and sleep naked until the alarm clock rings."

"Yeah, I'm totally staying."

"Good." He stood up from the couch forgetting all about the movie, the beer and the food. He took her hands and pulled her close to him while they walked together to the bathroom. He loved that, because it was so much more than the hot thrill of having sex in the shower. It was being intimate, enjoying their bodies differently, taking care of every inch of her skin as she took in his. He would never get tired of this, ever.

"I know it was only a day, but I missed you." She said, snuggled on his chest.

"Well, it was a long day. I missed you too." He kissed the top of her head as he laid comfortably on her bed. "But I believe I have good news, though."

"Is Grace finally getting a puppy?" Kim asked playfully.

"No." His answer was full of laughter. "And since you brought up the topic…" He trailed off for a bit trying to think how to properly say what was on his mind.

"There's no baby cousin on the way. You don't need to worry about that." Kim completed his sentence.

"I'm not worried about it. If it just happened right now it wouldn't be a bad thing, at least for me." She looked at him attentively as he spoke. "But if we were to plan it, I think, maybe, we should wait some more. I really want the whole situation with my brother to be solved and then be us for a little you know? Walk naked around the living room if we want to, not worrying about having minors around." He laughed to himself and looked at the ceiling. Kim's hand moving up and down his chest was like a soothing balm. "Well, that is if you would ever consider having kids with me. I got way ahead." His nervous chuckle and his hand scratching his beard was kind of cute. Kim was observing every single one of his movements and she knew she had to say something.

"Adam Ruzek." She propped herself on her elbow as she called out his name. His head moved quickly and he looked at her at once, her teacher voice was really effective. "I'm only going to say this once, ok?" He smiled, because Ms. B was having an effect on him. "I would love for you to be the father of my future kids." She dipped down and firmly pressed her lips on his. "And I agree with everything you said. Not now."

"Good. It's nice to be on the same page." He bit his lower lip and looked at her intensely. "You're so hot when you get in teacher mode." He grabbed her hips and pulled her close to him, making her giggle.

"Wait. You said you had good news for me." Her smile reminded him of Grace when she wanted to get something.

"Oh yes, I do."

"I'm listening."

"Ok, so…" She was getting impatient and he loved playing with her. "Is that cushion new?"

"Adaaam." She whined, making him laugh.

"Ok, ok. I talked to sergeant Voight, my boss, and to Kev. Voight is willing to give me the weekend off and Kev offered to cover for me in case something big popped up. So, if you didn't already make plans with Sylvie to go to that resort, I will be more than happy to go with you." Her face was glittering up and her smile was shining like a star.

"Really?"

"Mmm hmmm. And, Gracie's grandparents called me. Apparently Anne told them to come get her whenever you decided to go. So, that's that."

Kim was so excited. She loved spending time with both Gracie and Adam together, but going on this mini vacation with him was too good to be true. She really had to stop herself from jumping up and down the mattress, so she did the next thing that came to her mind that would show how happy she was.

She threw one of her legs over his hip, straddling him the best she could while her hands took a grip of his chest.

Just like she had offered before, both of them were still naked, so the view that she was giving him was doing all sorts of damage right now.

"Now that we got that out the way. What was it that you said about my teacher mode?" He smiled arrogantly and placed both hands on her waist moving them back and forth.

"I said it was hot, and that it really turned me on."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah."

"You really turn me on too, and I'm not sure I tell you that enough." She was purring again and he felt as if he was going to burst into flames. "Can I show you how much?" She asked, nuzzling his neck while his hands were wild on the back of her thighs.

"Please do."

For the second time in the night they became one. They were both determined not to take anything for granted because you never know what cards life will deal next, so all we have is right now and they were making a pretty good use of their present.

They slept deeply and soundly, like every time they found the comfort of each other's arms.

The sound of Kim's alarm startled her, her arm flew from under the covers trying to find her phone and shut that thing off. She sat up in bed and looked to the side only to find him sleeping peacefully. She smiled at that sight, waking up to him was one of the things she enjoyed the most lately. Kim did her best to get out of bed without waking him up, and apparently he truly was tired because he didn't even flinch at the movement.

When she walked back into her room showered and dressed, her boyfriend was nowhere to be found.

"Adam?" She called out as she dried her hair with a towel.

"In the kitchen." He waited for her to find him before he continued speaking, he knew that's what she was going to do. He felt proud of how much he was getting to know her when he saw her walking in the room and getting closer and kissing him good morning. "Good morning, Belle." She couldn't help but smile at that nickname Grace had given her, she liked it.

"Good morning, detective. Are you going to keep calling me that?"

"It totally suits you, so yes." She smiled sweetly and pecked his lips again. "I decided to get ahead of breakfast while you were in the shower."

"I see. It smells good."

"Thank you." He said as he began to take the food to the small kitchen table where she usually had breakfast. "I also checked out that place Kit and Anne want you to go."

"Us."

"Well, it is a gift for you."

"For me and someone else, do you really believe that they didn't think I was going to want to go with you? And they got Anne's parents to take Gracie." She walked behind him and ran her hand through his chest. "I'm sure it's their own subliminal way to let you know how grateful they are for everything you are doing." She left a soft kiss between his shoulder blades. "They probably know we are together. You do keep in touch now and then." He turned around to kiss her lips firmly but sweetly.

"Thanks for always making me feel like what I do matters." She smiled and kissed his lips again. "And yes, they know."

"See?" She closed her eyes triumphantly.

"Either way, I looked it up and it looks pretty cool. We can book it whenever we want. So, do you want to leave Friday night or Saturday morning?"

"Either one works for me. Check what's better for you and Gracie." She started to drink her orange juice.

"Ok. I'll get back to you on that one then."

"Great, and could you please book it too?" She pleaded, pursing her lips and scrunching up her nose. How could he say no to that? "I have a bunch of paperwork to hand in at school and I know for a fact my mind is going to be all over the place this week."

"I'll take care of it babe, don't worry." He leant down and kissed her cheek.

"Thank you! And thanks for breakfast, it's great."

"Glad you like it." He finally brought everything to the table and went to the bathroom very quickly before joining her. "Do you want to go pick up Grace together? I know she would love that."

"I would too, but I rather get to school early and get ahead of my reports. Is that ok?"

"Sure. We'll talk during the day and see how our week goes."

"That sounds perfect to me."

They finished eating and got ready to face Monday. It was going to be one tough week, but the idea of a weekend all to themselves was what was keeping both of them sane.
