The week had been pretty hectic.

Things at the district were very busy, with new cases popping up almost every day. They could barely manage to do it all with the whole team present, and Kevin and Adam didn't even want to think what the workflow was going to be like once Jay and Hailey left for their honeymoon in a couple of weeks.

"Is everything ready for the big day?" Kevin asked during their lunch break. They had been working so much that they decided to stop half an hour to eat something in the break room.

"It is! I can't believe it's just two days from today. Hopefully this case won't get more complicated because I'm not sure I can manage any more stress." Hailey replied.

"Everything will be fine. Nothing is stopping me from marrying you and these guys from joining the party." Jay tried to calm his future wife's never and sealed his comment with a sweet peck on her lips.

"We're closing this one soon Hails, don't worry about it." Adam contributed to the conversation. "All you need to focus on is your wedding and all that girl stuff you and Kim keep talking about each night."

Kim became a big help for Hailey and both of them were grateful for that.

"She has been a life saver." The blonde added.

"Oh, I know." Adam said proudly. "And helping you has been good for her, too. She loves having things to do, so I guess it's a win-win situation."

"Well, I think you guys have a couple of things going on that is keeping her busy as well." The blonde detective said, wiggling her eyebrows.

"Eww Upton, that's a lot of information. I don't wanna know about Ruzek's dirty business." Atwater was quick to reply.

"She doesn't mean that, bro. Kim and I are planning a vacation after these two come back." He said looking at the couple of detectives. "Now, her principal asked her to prepare a speech for the award ceremony…"

"And…" Hailey pushed him to continue speaking.

"And we've been talking about moving in together."

"And when were you gonna tell me about that?" Kevin's complaints evidenced their bromance and made Jay and Hailey laugh.

"I was trying to find the time to tell you guys, but it's not like work has been making that possible lately. The only reason Hailey knows is because she speaks with Kim more than me lately." He joked. "It's pretty new, we decided we wanted to do it last Sunday, but we still don't have anything settled."

"I was just kidding dawg, I'm so damn happy for you!"

"Thanks! I'm happy too."

"That's great news!" Jay added as he finished his sandwich. "What did Grace say?"

"We haven't told her. I mean we haven't said much to anyone yet."

"Lemme tell you that little girl's gonna be hyped when she finds out."

"I hope so. She's kinda pissed we're going on vacation without her."

They all laughed and enjoyed their lunch until their sergeant called them back to work.

The rest of the day was tough and long, but when it finally got to an end the case was closed.

"Hello." He said softly as he stepped into his apartment, it was late and he wasn't sure whether she was awake or not. He had invited her to sleep over at his place and insisted she could go whenever she wanted because he wasn't sure when they would be done.

"Hey, babe." She appeared in the living room as soon as she heard his voice. Her pajamas on, well actually one of Adam's old t-shirts and some sleep shorts, her hair up in a messy bun and the tiredness in her face matched his.

"Did I wake you?"

"Oh my god, Adam." She said walking quickly towards him and ignoring his question. "What happened?"

"Nothing. I'm fine."

"That red around your eye doesn't look like nothing to me." The brunette protested and went to get some ice from his freezer.

"It really is nothing. Sometimes the bad guys don't really like it when we take them in, but the good news is that we closed the case." He winced a little when she carefully placed the ice on his face.

"I'm sorry."

"It's ok. It feels good." He closed his eyes and smiled.

"Hopefully the ice will prevent this from looking uglier tomorrow."

"I'm glad it was me and not Jay, though. Would you image Hailey if Jay turns up with a black eye to their wedding." He started to laugh which only made him wince one more time.

"Instant karma." Kim joked. "Apart from this, how was your day?"

"This is by far the best part. It could be better if you kiss me." He pouted and attempted to stretch out his face to see if he would get what he wanted, and of course he did. Kim couldn't resist his cuteness. "That's more like it. My day was fine, and Voight told us today that he was getting some backup when Jay and Hailey leave."

"That's good news!"

"Yeah, I won't be making so many late nights, giving us a little more time together." He said smiling. "How's your speech going?"

"It's ok I guess, I'm not really inspired but I have some more time to finish it." Kim shrugged.

"I like that you're not stressed about it."

"Well, luckily I have a bunch of things to keep myself busy these days."

"About that…"

"What? Did you change your mind?"

"Not at all." He scrunched up his nose. "Not even close to that. I just wanted you to know that the team knows about our plans. Hailey asked me and I wanted to share the news with the rest of them."

"Great." She kissed him again, with a sweet smile still on her face. "Do you want something to eat? A drink maybe?" Her voice was slowly becoming a whisper.

"I actually want a shower and given my current state," He pointed to his eye, victimizing himself a little. "I think I'm going to need some assistance."

"Ok, so what exactly do you want?" Her lips were almost brushing his.

"I want you under the water with me and then we can go to bed and…" He suggested everything he wanted but didn't finish talking, instead he took her lips and pushed his tongue into her mouth where a passionate dance started between them. Adam grabbed the back of her thighs and pulled her upwards, while her arms were firm around her arms and her legs wrapped his waist almost instantly.

He walked them both to the bathroom, and in a matter of minutes they were under the spray coming out of the shower head. He had managed to take most of their clothes off with his girlfriend's help, but the detective was way too impatient to wait for a second longer and they both ended up with soaked underwear.

After pressing her back against the tiles and kissing her neck like crazy, he felt her hands on his chest pushing him back.

"Is everything okay?"

"Mm hmm." She nodded, biting her lower lip, which was doing nothing to calm down Adam's eagerness to be with her and she knew that all too well. "It's just that you said you wanted a shower, so let me give you a hand with that."

"Kim." He whined a little, anticipating that this was probably going to feel something like torture.

"Shh. Let's not rush tonight." She got the soap and rubbed it on her hands before running them over his body, pretending she was washing it, when the only thing she was trying to do was enjoy every inch of his skin.

Her fingertips felt like fire on him, and he was doing his best to stay still and just enjoy the moment. Kim stepped closer to him as her lips found a place on his collarbone, and that burned even more than her fingers. Her hands went around her back as her mouth was devoted to kissing his chest under the warm mist of the shower.

Kim moved using her strength to push him against the tiles and slowly started to slide down once he was in the position she wanted him in. Her hands were firm on his hips and her kisses cover his navel slowly moving further south.

His moan was loud, filling Kim's body with a rush that just made her want to keep going. Her tongue finally found her target, beginning to play with his erection and making his hands move instantly to her hair. When her lips hugged his length, she heard him gasp and felt how his muscles were contracting every time her head moved up and down.

"Belle." He gasped out her name. "Oh my god, babe. I'm about to…"

She didn't let him finish, she kept going, she had one objective and she wanted to accomplish it. The truth is she was enjoying this moment as much as he was. The sounds coming from his mouth told her that she was on the right track and after a few more kisses, caresses with her tongue and sucking with the perfect pressure, he exploded in her mouth.

Adam was agitated, trying to catch up his breath as Kim slowly got back up on her feet. Her kisses were moving up his chest all the way to his neck, and her arms were around his back again.

"That was even better than I imagined." He felt her smile against his skin.

"I'm glad to hear that."

The water was still covering their bodies, and in slow movements they did their best to wash their bodies. He turned off the tap and stepped out of the shower to grab a towel and dry up his girl before doing the same. "Do you want to go to the bedroom? Because I would love to, I'm craving your body, Belle. It's your turn now, if you want."

"Make love to me, detective."

Those were the last words said before he took her hand and guided her to his room, where he did exactly what he said he would.

They were in his bed, covering their bodies with just the sheets. It was getting hotter by the second in the city of Chicago and their recent activity didn't help much to keep the temperature down.

"I think I'm gonna get water. Do you want some?"

Kim laughed at the exhausted voice of her boyfriend.

"Hmm, I don't know. I am thirsty, but I'm way too comfortable like this."

Her head was in his chest and her finger was lightly drawing circles on his torso.

Adam smiled and hugged her a little tighter. He loved being like this, carelessly lying in bed together. Just being with her made him happy and he couldn't wait until that was part of his everyday life.

"Me too, but you left me parched." He saw she was about to open her mouth to say something. "Before you say it, I'm not complaining, I'm just stating a fact." He closed his eyes with an all knowing look on his face. "I'll be right back." He sat up and quickly kissed her lips before walking naked to the kitchen, giving Kim a nice view to keep her entertained.

When he came back he found her sitting up, leaning against the headboard with the sheets up her body covering her chest. Kim was clearly thinking about something else and didn't really notice him stepping inside the room.

"Where's that head of yours wandering to?" He asked, handing her a glass of iced water.

"Thanks." She drank some of it with her eyes closed, enjoying the freshness of the liquid going down her throat. "I really needed that." She smiled at him before leaving the glass on the nightstand.

"You are welcome." He got back in bed and almost instantly Kim placed her head on his shoulder. "So, are you gonna tell me what's up?"

"Nothing. I'm just thinking."

"About?"

"You know how next week is the award ceremony?"

"Uh huh."

"A few people from school want to get together and go for drinks or something to celebrate the end of the lective year and they invited me."

"That sounds fun. When is it? After the ceremony?"

"No." She shook her head and then looked at him as if he had implied the craziest thing in the world. "We have Gracie's party after." Her brows furrowed and he smiled at the realization of her priorities.

"I know." He kissed her softly and waited for her to say the rest.

"Anyway, it's the night before."

"Ok, and?"

"And Ian will be there because he was invited too." Kim felt the tension of his muscles at the mention of Ian's name. "And while I have no intention whatsoever of seeing him, there's a bunch of other people who I truly want to see again."

"Mmm hmm." He nodded because he understood her perfectly, but he was afraid if he spoke the wrong words were going to come out of his mouth.

"Are you mad at me for wanting to go?"

"No Belle, I'm not mad at you. I just hate the guy."

"Me too, but I don't want to let him ruin this too. Does it make sense?" Adam nodded again as her hand cupped his cheek.

"It does. Can I pick you up when you're done, though?" He sounded like a scared child, breaking her heart a bit but at the same time it was just darn adorable.

"Baby, you don't need to do that. I'll be with Sylvie and a bunch of other people. I'm sure he knows better than being an asshole in public."

The detective rolled his eyes and let out a deep, long breath. "Look. I'm not mad, I'm really not."

She was paying close attention to him as she lightly nodded her head to his words. "And I trust you, you know that right?"

"Yes."

"That's not what this is about, this isn't about us. This is about me not trusting him, not in the slightest."

"Babe…" She was about to try to soothe him, but he softly lifted his hand up and politely asked her to wait.

"Just let me finish for a second." He took both his hands between hers and continued with what he had to say. "He showed what he's capable of already. It was low, it was mean, it was just plain wrong and I don't want to imagine what else he's capable of doing. I would feel so much better bringing you home safely. If he hurts you in any way possible, Kim, I will…"

She stopped him, mainly because she knew what he was going to say and she didn't want his head to go there. Not tonight and not ever.

"He won't." She said calm but firmly. "I will leave if I ever feel uncomfortable or unsafe and you can pick me up if that would make you feel better."

He sighed in complete relief. "Thank you."

"Thank you for protecting me." She snuggled against his chest feeling his strong arms around her. "I love you."

"I love you, too."
