After the video, they had a long rest. The next day, Joanne provided the Nomu class B will fight. It took 10 minutes, for them to lose. She gave this near high end Nomu instructions to knocked the students unconscious without harming any of them, kendo let monoma plan since it was his brilliant idea in the 1st place. They trapped it and ambushed it but it was so strong, it has regeneration and it can fly. 10 of the students were out in 30 seconds, monoma included. Kendo lead the rest to fight it with haki, quirk and skills. It worked for a minute before it knocked them all unconscious quickly, "well, they made an effort at least..." Vlad said.
"Vlad, you and I know they got cocky in the beginning thanks to that student of yours." Aizawa said.
"Where'd ya find the Nomu?" Snipe asked.
"Oh, it's a stray. Sometimes anomalies happen, example; like in a computer you copy the Nomu and a different version appears in another world but the original is still where it is. These things tend to happen, artifacts somehow found they're way into another world and the admin or dimensional system has to go get it before something bad happens. They have a few of these in storage so I got 1 here, so does class A want a go?" Joanne explained and looked at the students in their costumes.
It took them 5 minutes to take it down, most of them volunteered to be bait. Not very much injured, just a few bruises thanks to haki. "Eat shit losers! We did better than you!!!" Katsuki bragged and laughed.
Monoma greeted his teeth but couldn't speak because class B lost fair and square, "let's not listen to monoma, most of us got out with head injuries..." Awase said to shihai, they looked at komori who has a broken arm.
"Ok! Breakfast is ready, after that we can watch Shikamaru's memories! And 1 more thing, class B will be spending time with Garp for 48 hours." Joanne announced, everyone gasp and maybe some fainted.
"Fuck! Damn!" Dynamy jumped in joy, after breakfast they are sitting in the theatre.
The scene starts in a forest with adult Shikamaru looking at the shaking tamaki, he sighed. 'great... A somewhat male version of hinata with sasuke's old hair style...' he thought.
Most of the audience found it funny but the shy teen looked embarrassed.
"Ok, 1st we are in your head. I'm Shikamaru Nara, and I already know your Tamaki Amajiki."
"H-h-how do you know me?" The teen stuttered.
The adult sighed, "follow me..." He walked away, the teen was hesitant. "Come on! We don't got all day!" So he followed him at a clearing on top of a hill, the adult layed down and gestured the teen to do the same. He did but just a little far from him, they stared up at the clouds. "This should help you relax, now what did you last remembered?"
"I... I w-was hit by a quirk!"
"Yes, turns out this quirk makes you relieve memories of your past life. Preferably my life."
"Y-your life?"
"Yeah, I'm from a world of ninjas, assassins and samurais. I'm not just a ninja, I'm the clan head."
"Cl-clan head?"
"We're not just basic ninjas who hide in the shadows, wear black or use shurikens. We have chakra, it's energy or a type of chi for our ninja techniques." The clouds shifted and changed to a screen where ninjas perform jutsus, "our basic elements are air, water, fire, earth, lightning and wood. We can learn this at a ninja academy, in ninja villages. I live in the village hidden in the leaves, now to why I'm a clan head. It's a trait similar to quirks, passed from parent to child. Our unique bloodline helps in the art of ninjas, my clan controls shadows." Scene of Shikamaru's father strangling ninjas with their own shadows connected to his shadow, "by relieving my life, you get my experience and skills."
"J-just that? What about your shadow technique?"
"That's not how it works, your not blood related to me and you don't have chakra so that doesn't help. But you are a brilliant strategist, I'm a heck stronger and smarter than my dad. Our clan are lazy but we are formidable ninjas." The scene shifted to child Shikamaru playing shoji with his father, he won and his dad looks proud of him.
"Stop playing that game and help set the table already!!" The Nara wife shouted.
Both father and son flinched and sighed, "troublesome woman..." They both said in unison.
"I heard that! Now move your butts!"
It was kinda funny, except katsuki who's eye twitch remembering his mother.
Child Shikamaru at the 1st day of ninja academy where naruto defends hinata for having weird eyes.
Mina gushed at that.
He and choji got on the wrong foot when it was naruto that made them all friends, iruka caught all 3 of them sleeping in class. He did scold them but he looks caring towards them.
"I don't understand, why is he fond of them and not lecturing them?" Tenya asked.
"Iruka is an orphan like naruto, he's been hoping he'd gain friends so he wouldn't feel alone." Stella said, "yes, they are trouble makers but they won't grow up properly without the other supporting them." The class rep had a thoughtful look and remembered that naruto is an orphan and what he's currently going through.
The children are in the district and saw Ino trying to give sasuke flowers, looks like her heart got broken. The kids teased her a bit before running away.
"That was pretty mean..." Toru said.
"Yes but she can't expect to gain a boyfriend in that age! Seriously, their too young." Anita shakes her head.
They meet iruka at the district and naruto shows off he's sexy jutsu, they laughed at him.
"Such indecency! Where does he even learn that!?" Recovery girl scolded.
"I don't know, it's pretty effective." Present Mic said and got hit in the head by Aizawa.
"It can catch anyone off guard but at least have some class." Midnight said.
"Your 1 to talk..." Power loader muttered.
The boys are now 10, Shikamaru and choji watched naruto get scolded by a shop keeper and accusing him for theft when he was only looking. The boys noticed how people and other kids treat their friend.
This made them all growl, hating these people all because a child is carrying a burden he knew nothing about. They were blinded by their hatred to not see the obvious logic.
Shikamaru asked he's father why many of the citizens avoid naruto like the plague, shikaku didn't give him an answer but asked how he sees naruto. He seems chill for his kid to be friends with him.
Most of the audience smiled softly, izuku was very quiet for a good reason. Remembering how people avoided him just because he's quirkless, katsuki hated himself for listening to those fake people. He looked at his hands wondering if he's quirk was really a curse, he threw away his real friend for something he didn't ask for. Being born quirkless doesn't mean your useless at all, he wished he realized that sooner and didn't have all this guilt eating him up.
Shikamaru once slept in class, the teacher scolds him and tries to humiliate him with a difficult question but never doubt a nara.
"Huh, I'm impressed." Ectoplasm said looking at the equation the lazy kid answered correctly.
Another day of skipping classes, "We don't skip very often but if a teacher punishes Naruto for no reason, we skip with him."
"W-why are they doing that?" Tamaki asked.
The adult explains Naruto's life as a jinchuriki, the shy teen looked angry and clenched his fist. The scene changes to the graduates in class, while the teen was looking at naruto in sympathy. The adult was looking at Sasuke, 'I'm too lazy to compare it... At least his not an avenger.' he thought.
"It's so weird how your hair style is similar to him!" Hado laughed.
'at least I don't have an older brother...' tamaki thought shyly.
Teams are announced, "turns out it's traditional for our clans to be on a team, choji, myself and Ino Yamanaka. A shadow user, a ninja who can enlarge their size and a mind transfer. The only problem was ino's constant d whining and complaining, that's Asuma. The 3rd hokage's son and our teacher." Team 10 did D rank missions and some training but Ino is sometimes a hindrance.
"She's supposed to be a ninja?" Tokayomi asked not impressed.
"Asuma is trying to get her fan girl phase out." Joanne said.
"He better." Dark shadow said.
Sometimes Asuma would play shoji with Shikamaru and lost, the scene changes to the chunin exams. They figured out the illusion on the 2nd floor, they quietly avoided it and later start the written exam. Where you cheat without getting caught, Ino uses her Mind Body Switch Technique on him to fill out his exam sheet with answers she copied from Sakura.
"Information gathering, if they were heroes they'd help find gangs and syndicates a lot faster." Aizawa said.
The next part of the exam is surviving the forest of death, team 10 just hid in the shadows and observe the teams. They were quite frightened at the sand team, tamaki was shaking in fear.
Everyone looked very uncomfortable especially izuku who knows a hero with a sand quirk.
They found team 7 in trouble, both naruto and sasuke are unconscious. Sakura and Lee are trying hard to fight off the sound team, team 10 helps out. Team 10 initiates Formation Ino–Shika–Chō: Chōji attacks Zaku Abumi with Human Bullet Tank, Shikamaru immobilises Dosu Kinuta with his Shadow Imitation Technique, and Ino uses her Mind Body Switch on Kin Tsuchi. They have a hostage but it seems the sound team doesn't care about their teammate at all.
"You gotta be kidding me, they're just like villains. They turn on each other at 1 point..." Power loader said.
"Well the sound village only cares about power, it's like winning to the top but you have to eliminate everyone else. That team were sent by Orichimaru to test sasuke." Joanne explained.
"Test him on what?" Izuku asked.
The answer was shown on the screen, the uchiha regains consciousness but he didn't look ok. It was like a blood lust, just seeing his teammate injured made him attack the sound team with no mercy. Tamaki looked scared and confused, Shikamaru explained to him of the cursed seal. Invented by a former leaf ninja Orichimaru, how this snake became rogue and is the leader of the sound village.
The audience growled at this monster, all for power and immortality. "So he targeted Sasuke for his thirst of revenge." Momo recalled hinata's memories.
"Yeah, but it didn't go as planned because sasuke killed him. He only needed the snake to teach him to become stronger." Joanne explained.
It was thanks to sakura for stopping Sasuke before things got out of hand.
Mina's shipping senses are tingling, Joanne on the other hand held a frown. Let's just say fan girls are not good role models. "Ok, we already saw the fights before hinata's match so we're going to watch Shikamaru's point of view."
The scene starts at Gaara vs Lee, this ninja is fast and swift.
"You all should know this, Lee doesn't have any chakra."
Everyone looked at her in surprise, "but don't ninjas use chakra?" Shihai asked.
"If he doesn't have chakra how'd he even passed?" Monoma asked.
"He is a genius fighter, he's fighting skills caught the attention of Might Guy. Teacher of team 9, he took the kid under his wing and they have a... Youthful... Training montage..." Joanne's face looked forced when she said, youthful.
"You... Ok?" Manga asked.
"I'm fine, and no. He is 100% not lee's dad, Rock Lee is an orphan. He just wants to prove himself."
"Wait, didn't priestess fear him?" Rin asked.
"Yes, yes she does. This guy is powerful without chakra, it's scarier he somehow got a kid in the future."
"Huh!?" They look at her.
"Yup, but he's a nervous wreck..." Everyone did not know how to respond.
Except Bakugo, "what the fuck...?"
Guy allowed lee to take off his weights, Temari was confident her brother will win. The weights said other wise.
"That's so manly I'm jealous... Bro we should do that too!" Kirishima exclaimed.
"Hell yeah!" Tetsutetsu agreed.
Lee was much faster and Gaara was having some difficulty but he was able to catch the green spandex teen and crushed his leg, before he could do more damage Guy intervened.
"Are you sure their not related?" Shoto asked.
"Here are the papers! Read them and weep!" Joanne shouted in frustration and threw the proof at him.
Next is Choji's match, he didn't win but he didn't die. Just injured, now the finalist have 1 month to train for the final stage of the chunin exams. This frustrates Shikamaru but knew that it's not about winning but performance, your skills are judge to chunin or not.
"So it's like hero ranking but it's specifically for the ninjas to judge not popularity." Midnight concluded.
"Yes, the rankings are base on public popularity while the ninjas must seek approval to be promoted." Joanne explained further.
Chōji overeats in an effort to console himself for losing his preliminary match, sending him to the Konoha Hospital.
Recovery girl face palm.
Shikamaru trains a lot and plays shoji with not just his father but teacher too, he visits choji the day before the finals. And naruto too, but they notice Gaara entering Rock Lee's room, intent on killing him. They stopped him and tries to convince the sand ninja to leave, the red head tells them about his past. Tamaki was visibly shaking in horror and rage.
The audience felt the same way, this teen suffered more. It's no wonder he's siblings are afraid of him, "how!? How could he's own father do such a thing!?" All might growled.
"A jinchuriki are nothing more than weapons, originally their status is supposed to be kept secret but curroption is a cancer. And they fall as a scape goat, but it's not Gaara's fault. To seal a tailed beast takes a seal master, but their seal master isn't that good. The seal is faulty, it's supposed to allow the vessel to use the chakra of the beast. They get to choose to interact with the beast, gaara can hear the 1 tail 24/7. It's driving the teen insane, he can't get a decent sleep." Joanne explained.
"So it's the old hag's fault in the 1st place! Did she had a fucking grudge too!?" Katsuki shouted.
"No, she just tried. She's their only sealing master in the sand village." 'she'd probably kill you...' she remembered how crazy this lady can be.
The sand ninja almost went for the kill at Lee if Guy did not arrived in time and forces Gaara to leave, the next day Shikamaru is informed that his match with Dosu has been cancelled and that he'll instead be fighting Temari of Suna in his first match.
"We'll skip the 1st fight since hinata fainted at that time."
The shadow user wanted to forfeit, but Naruto wrongly assumes he's eager to get started and shoves him into the arena.
Almost everyone found that funny, "hah! Loser!" Katsuki mocked.
"Lazy bum." Setsuna commented.
He's fight against Temari was actually impressive, until he forfeits instead, claiming that, even if he won this match, he's spent too much chakra to be able to safely fight in later matches.
"Are you kidding me!?" Many shouted.
"It's a smart move." Gran torino said.
"He had her! He could have won!" Monoma shouted.
"Then in the next match, he'd die. He was beneficial with his strategy, keep going, he won't have enough chakra for the next match. It was best he forfeits instead." Recovery girl said, "and don't forget it's not about winning, it's how well you perform to promote as chunin."
Naruto is upset and enters the arena to accuse Shikamaru of stupidity, shino's match was next but Kankuro forfeited. This was not only upsetting Shino but very suspicious.
"He just outright forfeited." Reiko said.
"Something tells me he did that on purpose..." Sir nighteye got suspicious.
"But why would he suddenly forfeit?" Pony asked.
"You'll get your answer soon." Joanne answered.
Sasuke arrived just in time before he could have been disqualified, you can blame Kakashi. Both naruto and Shikamaru cross paths with Gaara moments after he murders two Kusa-nin and are paralysed by the realisation that he would have killed them had the Kusa-nin not been there, the blonde becomes fearful of what the red head will do to he's teammate. So he runs off to cancel the match, the shadow user not far behind.
"It wouldn't matter, Kakashi trained Sasuke to somehow Survive Gaara. Not kill him, and the uchiha will just see the red head as an obstacle for his revenge." Tenya looked down, compared to what happens to his brother in the future. Sasuke's revenge is a lot darker.
Sasuke and Gaara's match is interrupted by an invasion of Konoha and a genjutsu puts most of the spectators to sleep, Shikamaru... Pretends to sleep, Sakura noticed this and forcefully woke him up by Pakkun.
"This is no time for naps! Your village is in danger!!!" Fatgum shouted, 'i hope that tamaki doesn't try to get away from hero work...' he prayed in his thoughts.
The 4 of them are going after Sasuke, and stop him from going after gaara. The lazy teen flat out refuses until Pakkun bit he's hand and he complies.
'i don't have the heart to threaten him...'
Before Pakkun could lead them... Turns out Sakura uses the same shampoo as the dog...
The audience laughs, "at least the dog has good taste!" Toru covers her mouth.
'not gonna tell them Tsunade's pet pig uses the same lotion as Ino.' Joanne thought.
Pakkun leads them to where Sasuke is going and informs them that they're being followed by 9 sound ninjas.
"9!?" Almost everyone shouted.
"There's no way they can take them on!" Izuku shouted.
"And it'll delay their time getting the uchiha back." Shoto said.
Shikamaru explains that their best option is to lay an ambush, a task he volunteers for while the others continue to follow Sasuke. Because there's only an idiot, a not so special kunoichi and a dog...
"And I thought Bakugo was mean..." Kyoka sighed.
"Brutally honest, ribbit..." Tsuyu said.
'pls don't make him do comments about me or the internship and work studies...' fatgum prayed.
He baited the 8 sound ninjas and trapped them in his shadow technique, he threw shurikens to bait the 9th member out. He couldn't reach the ninja and loss his bind on the other 8, he knew he was in trouble until Asuma arrived and took care of them quickly. He congratulates his quick thinking and that he may rest.
Almost everyone sighed in relief, "that was a close one." Hado breath out.
The scene skips and changes to the hokage's office, Shikamaru is the only one promoted to chunin.
"See, it doesn't matter if you win or lose. It's skills." Joanne pointed.
They had a celebration until he was called the next day into the office, "Sasuke has defected from the leaf village and is on his way to the Orichimaru." The hokage said, because of the invasion. They are currently understaffed, they did send a jonin team after them but the sound ninjas are stronger. He will form a genin team to retrieve him, the team includes; naruto, choji, kiba and neji.
"Damn, what was he thinking!?" Sen said.
"There's also another problem, he is willingly escorted by the sound 4. The sound village's strongest ninjas who survived the experiments, they put him in a coffin so he can succumb to the curse seal." Joanne explained, everyone was either horrified or disgusted by this.
Before they left, sakura begged naruto to bring Sasuke back.
The audience looked uneasy, "does he even want to go back? He practically abandoned them." Awase said.
"Some idiots believe it was the curse seals doing but it isn't, he saw naruto fight Gaara and won. He knew Gaara is strong, but compared to them... He believes the leaf village is making him weak, he willingly went with them. Tsunade wants him back to punish him more likely, there's a 50/50 chance he will never be a ninja after that..."
The recovery team track the sound team but they had to be careful with traps they left, double traps too. Tamaki looked uncomfortable stopping naruto from triggering a trap.
"Double traps, that's scary..." Power loader looked at nezu who like this idea.
Both Shikamaru and neji scouted the sound ninjas who found them and they're teammates, as protocol negotiations are 1st. But these ninjas are almost a few years older than them or their age, Jirōbō then captures them with his Earth Prison Dome of Magnificent Nothingness. Kiba uses Fang Passing Fang in an attempt to break free, but it fixes itself right up. Neji uses byakugan and it turns out his feeding on their chakra.
"Stronger than pixie bob's quirk!" Izuku said.
"How are they going to get out?" Ectoplasm asked.
Shikamaru instructed kiba to do it again but hit more places, they found a weak spot and choji broke them out. Jirōbō will not let them leave, they can't fight him with some of their chakra taken. The shadow user's best friend insisted to stay behind and promised to defeat Jirōbō, Shikamaru agrees on the condition that Chōji catch up with them after he wins and makes a point to mark their route for him to follow.
"H-he'll be ok, r-right?" Tamaki asked.
"Yes, he won." Joanne answered.
"But is he ok?" Fatgum asked.
"He fought hard and he's ok."
Shikamaru made a plan, he uses the transformation technique to disguise as Jirōbō. But the sound ninjas weren't fooled that easily and Kidōmaru had the recovery team trapped in his web.
"You have got to be kidding me, an actual spider! I prefer Shoji then this guy." Mina said and Mezo seemed angry this teen willingly experiment to Orichimaru and gain the evolutionary of a spider, he may not be a spider but this ninja peeves him.
Thankfully neji saves them all and is willing to stay behind to fight Kidōmaru, the remaining 3 ambushed the 2 sound ninjas and got the coffin containing Sasuke. The sound ninjas went after them, kiba had akamaru put explosive seals on the trees behind them until his ninja dog slipped. This gave one of the sound ninjas a chance to use ninja wire and trapped the dog near the explosive seal, kiba went to save akamaru. The explosion caused him and Sakon to get separated from them, before the 2 teammates can head back to the others.
"What happened to them?" Koda asked.
"Don't worry, kiba and akamaru fight him and won." Joanne answered.
A 5th member takes sasuke, Shikamaru instructed naruto to go after him while he fights Tayuya who berates him for systematically sacrificing all the members of his team in order to rescue Sasuke.
Almost everyone growled at this ninja for insulting the team working so hard to get Sasuke back, "shut up! They are going to bring the kid back! They put their trust in him!" Fatgum now understands how mature the alternate tamaki will be, 'he's going to blow everyone away with his strategy...' he thought proudly, 'even if this tamaki isn't like him, doesn't mean he's going to become a great hero...' he glanced at the shy boy watching the screen intensely.
But Shikamaru rebuts that, as team leader, he has faith in each of them.
Tamaki felt kinda inspired by this, even most of the students especially tenya and kendo. Since both of them are their classes respective class presidents.
Tayuya summons her 3 ogres and uses her Demonic Flute to control their attacks against him, tamaki blanched.
"W-what are those!?" Jurota asked in disgust.
"Their ogres, I'm actually surprised they exist in that world." Joanne answered.
"Ninja ogres?" Both tokayomi and shihai are lost for words.
"I think I'm gonna puke..." Toru held her stomach.
"Let me guess, Orichimaru's experiments?" All might gritted his teeth.
"Yeah..." Joanne looked down.
The ogres' attacks are so well coordinated that Shikamaru has no opportunity to use any of his jutsu.
"Oh no, Shikamaru is in trouble." Hado said.
"Don't worry Hado, he just needs a solid plan." Mirio had faith in him.
Shikamaru tries finding a pattern in the music Tayuya plays to try an predict their movements, but the music changes too often for him to pick out anything. By studying her finger positions, he learns to predict the ogres' actions. When they move into the correct position, he uses a flash bomb to extend the ogres' shadows. Allowing him to capture them and control them against the sound ninja, she was forced to dismiss them. But once they're gone she discovers the ogres' entire capture was a distraction: she has been bound by Shikamaru's shadow, having been slowly navigated towards her.
"Yes!" Many cheered.
Before he could strangle her, she activates her cursed seal. He tries strengthening his hold on her with his newly-learned Shadow–Neck Binding Technique, but he can't make its grasp strong enough. He had no choice but to release her and she cast an illusion with her flute.
It was kinda horrifying, they were worried for the alternate tamaki.
When she comes near him to finish him off with a kunai, he releases himself from the illusion by breaking his own finger and traps her with his shadow again. Using her closer proximity to improve his shadow's hold.
Everyone was surprised by that, "he broke his own finger..." Gran torino was impressed.
But Tayuya strengthens her cursed seal, to keep her bound until he runs out of chakra. Then someone saves the lazy teen's butt, Temari. Who got requested by Tsunade to aid the recovery team.
"She's not the only one." Joanne said, "both Gaara, Kunkuro and Lee were tasked as backup in case they got trouble."
The sand ninja quickly destroys the sound ninja's flute and a proximity of the forest.
Almost everyone gawk, "talk about a clean air cut." Kamakiri said and looked to Awase who looks jealous.
She even summoned her ninja weasels to help and they crushed her beneath the fallen trees.
Both tokayomi and shihai had star eyes, "cool, ninja weasel!" Setsuna grinned.
Temari accompanies Shikamaru back to Konoha, the back up ninjas came back with the wounded recovery team. Their conditions are dire and naruto still hasn't come back, things went so badly on his first mission causes him to believe he's unfit to be a ninja, much less to lead a team.
"Your still learning, you just got promoted. These things take time, and your village didn't have enough man power. Not everything can go according to plan." Nezu said.
Temari won't comfort him, nor will Shikaku when he comes to check on things. He reminds Shikamaru that his friends will continue to go on missions with or without him, but that maybe they'll avoid death if Shikamaru leads them then. If this mission went badly, Shikamaru should learn from it and improve so that future missions will be more successful. Tsunade's apprentice, Shizune, informs them the recovery team are going to make full recoveries. Kakashi is coming back with naruto, but Sasuke escape so he's labelled as a rogue ninja. Shikamaru tearfully vows to do better.
The teachers smiled and many of the audience felt relieved the ninjas are recovering.
The sand ninjas are walking towards the gate of konoha, leaving and heading back to their village. Shikamaru was there to see them off, he wishes them a safe journey and thanks them for the save. Temari teases him to call if he needs their help again.
Mina giggled, 'they're so into each other...' she thought and tamaki blushed a little.
The scene changes to the hokage's office, Tsunade assigns team 10 on a tracking mission, there's been a break out from the Konoha strict correctional facility. Their former academy teacher is who escape with the help of the legendary stupid brothers...
"I'm sorry, did I hear that clearly? Legendary stupid brothers!?" Gran torino looked baffled.
"What kind of title is that!?" All might was very confused.
"Well these ninjas are stupid but strong, they harmed civilians and their fellow allies, that's why their in that facility." Joanne answered.
Team 10 jump from tree to tree, they found the stupid and just in time to save naruto. "Wh-why was he there!?" Tamaki stuttered.
"Naruto was the very person who defeated mizuki, turns out his a traitor and works for Orichimaru. He overhead about the break out and recruited iruka to capture him." Shikamaru answered, they watched as the younger nara told naruto to go after mizuki while they deal with the spots l stupid brothers. Ino use her Mind transfer technique but turns out they can be somewhat strong willed, it was surprising how Ino knew how to control body parts.
"That is fascinating and medically useful." Recovery girl said.
Choji helped but these stupid brothers are difficult, thankfully Tsunade stepped in and...
Everyone with super strength quirks or are super strong look at their fingers, "finger flick of doom... Or acid flick?" Mina thought out loud looking at her fingers trying to utilize her quirk like that, she wasn't the only one. Gran torino grumbled because he's quirk solely relied on his feet, Aizawa didn't admit he was kinda jealous.
The scene changes to the sand team with naruto, sakura and Shikamaru. Since they are really chunin, they have a program for their academy level to train with weapons. Their supervising and giving the lessons, the scene changes to the hokage's office. Tsunade announced the sand village needs help, they are under attack. Shikamaru lead the Konoha 11 to split up and help their allies, he and Ino found Temari's location and helped her. Her opponent is strong but they always forget his clan.
Everyone watched in awe of 2 wind ninjas, "ok! We're going to watch another time skip..." Joanne announced.
The scene starts at the Konoha gates, Shikamaru has grown and welcomes the sand siblings. Gaara is the leader of his village.
Everyone was surprised by that, "what happened? He seems happier..." Ochako asked.
"Naruto helped him and they became friends, Gaara cherishes his friendship and earned the title of village leader." Joanne explained.
"So he's no longer on a killing spree." Kirishima asked and Joanne nodded to confirm.
The scene changes to a meeting room with the hokage, her assistant, advisers and Shikamaru sitting opposite of the sand siblings. It's decided the chunin exams should be brought back and Konoha will host, after all they didn't get to finish. Kunkuro is suspicious why bring it back after 2 yrs, it's because of the akatsuki. They need to draw them out and there's a chance the villages, lesser and greater, might be their allies. They need to evaluate who to trust, Gaara proposed the sand village host the chunin exams and he wants to announce his position to the nations. There's much to discuss so they will halt the meeting until next time.
"I see, the threat has become clear and agitating." Sir nighteye observed.
"So this is a risky trap, it's brilliant but risky." Nezu said.
The scene starts as the sun sets, Shikamaru and Temari are talking about the meeting and gaara's sudden proposal. He wants to be the bait to the akatsuki.
"That's dangerous and reckless." Hound dog growled.
"True, ninjas are scary dangerous." Snipe said.
The scene changes to the meeting room again, Tsunade proposes a joint chunin exams. Konoha will be in charge of the written exam and the sand village will be in charge of the 2nd and final, gaara agrees to this. Shikamaru escorts them out, tamaki noticed something. "D-d-did you marry her?" He asked.
"Eventually..." The shadow user said.
Mina squealed in glee.
The scene changes back to the hokage's office where she's holding a meeting with the jonins, she explains which village is sending their teams to the chunin exams and how many. Asuma gives Shikamaru the signal that they need to talk, the scene changes to a restaurant. Team 10's teacher explains he wants to enter them in the chunin exams but their a member short, and without Shikamaru they are strategy weak.
"You did explain their parents are also part of a team back in their age, did they all passed?" Recovery asked.
"Yes, during those times there was a war. There was no time to enjoy childhood, they had a duty for their village." Joanne explained.
Ino has an idea who can join their team, Shikamaru and choji are at the park waiting for her. She arrived but Sakura declined, in her words; she didn't want to be a burden.
"Burden? Didn't she trained under the hokage?" Momo asked.
"She has doubts, don't worry. She entered the chunin exams with choji and Ino eventually." Joanne answered and played with Dynamy.
The scene changes to the Konoha gates, Shikamaru is watching over the participants. Tamaki is shaking, he's remembering the provisional exam and how he almost failed. "Hey." The ninja got he's attention, "your alright, you can learn from this."
Fatgum is glad Shikamaru is encouraging tamaki.
The scene changes to the outside of a building where the 1st round of the chunin exams will be held, konohamaru and his friends are excited.
"I don't see any ninja headband, they can't join the exams if they didn't graduate or have a teacher." Kendo pointed out.
"Sometimes he forgets about these things." Stella sighed.
Konohamaru thinks naruto will come back to take the exams, but he isn't. Their not going to wait for him, everything doesn't involve him all the time. "He's busy training, he'll be a chunin when he earns it." Shikamaru sighed.
"True, there's no special treatment. All's fair in love and war." Nezu said.
The exam starts and Shikamaru is the proctor, he is live on a TV. He gives them simple instructions and small rules, he made it clear that the only teams moving forward needs to get a total of 100 points. Exactly 100, not more than or less than and they fail. They have 30 minutes...
"Wait, each member are separated and must calculate to earn 100 points exactly... But..." Kendo let this sink in.
"How do they know which question to answer correctly and how do they know their teammate will write the number to add their points?" Jurota asked thinking hard.
Joanne rolled in a chalk board, "here momo, do the math." She gave her the chalk.
Momo wrote the same numbers from Sakura in the exam, "so only 2 variables can add to 100 points but... How are they going to communicate towards their teammates?"
"Look!" Yui pointed at the screen.
Most of the ninjas got up from their seats and inspected the rooms, Shikamaru and Temari are watching them. He explains what this test means...
Everyone froze as nezu laughed, "brilliant! Simply brilliant! A trapped test on how to communicate towards your teammates! I must say nara, you truly peaked my interest. How about you students, how can you communicate your classmates in this situation?"
Everyone was thinking hard, "I fucking got it!" Katsuki shouted.
"Fuck!" Dynamy cheered.
"I let out my powerful explosions to send vibrations in the walls!"
"That could help, telepathy quirks help too." Izuku said.
"I can probably hear a conversation through the walls." Kyoka said.
"Bash the walls like bakubro!" Kirishima exclaimed, tetsutetsu agreed.
"Why not just shout to our teammates?" Kamakiri asked.
"Then everyone will follow and our shouts will drown each other, it'll only cause confusion." Ibara said.
"Look! Something's happening!" Denki pointed at the TV.
Neji told the ninjas he's plan, a sand ninja volunteered to help but decided to sabatoge them.
"Why would he do that!? They could've all passed!" Tenya shouted.
"He already gave a signal to he's teammates on which to answer, he doesn't know there are other teams who already answered the question and no doubt got a 100 points." Joanne explained.
"Don't forget this is the chunin exams, Shikamaru didn't made a rule that said no sabatoging other teams." Vivi said.
But neji anticipated that, the sand ninja wanted to fight him but it is prohibited. So everyone had to finish the test, the last question requires them to write the name of their teammate at the back of the paper.
The 1st years are puzzled and feel uneasy for the last question, the 3rd years and most of the teachers figured it out, "ok, I'm going to make this a trust exercise." Joanne announced and snapped her fingers, they each get a sheet of paper. "Think of this as a hero excercise to stall long enough until back up arrives, to students: write the name of any of your classmates, to heroes: write the name of any hero. You got 3 minutes." After 3 minutes are done, she gathered the papers.
The scene changes to outside the building, turns out... It's a trick question, a lot of 3 man teams passed for not answering the question. Those who got 1 person eliminate can no longer be part of the exam.
Everyone is shocked by this, "the majority of both heroes and students answered blank except, monoma. Who answered Bakugo, that means he'd rather ditch him than cooperate."
"What!?" Many glared at monoma.
"B-b-but the question!?" The copy cat tried to protest.
"It's a trick question! No one in their right mind won't abandon their partner, even if they can't tolerate each other it's all about teamwork. A leaf ninja once said, those who break the rules are scum but those who abandoned their friends and team are worse than scums. This test questions your morality, and it seems you don't have it." Joanne explained.
"Monoma, we need to have a chat." Hound dog growled.
"My, what a brilliant test." Nezu smiled, 'i would love to chat with such an intelligent fellow...' he thought.
Temari explains the 2nd round has already started, travel to suna village and reach their before 3 days at the exact time they left Konoha. Last ones or those late are automatically disqualifies, the ninjas ran as fast as they could.
"Wow, now that's a workout!" Tetsutetsu exclaimed.
"Workout? This is insane! Although, normal humans don't have this much stamina..." Setsuna said.
Midnight licked her lips, 'Speaking of stamina...' she is thinking about Kakashi.
"Sadly the chunin exams were cancelled half way to the 2nd round, some ninjas were posing themselves as genin when in truth their not. They decided to use the 1st round and halfway 2nd round to evaluate the them, everyone became a chunin except naruto." Joanne explained.
The scene starts with Shikamaru and Temari heading towards the hokage tower and found out naruto returned from his training, they are walking through the village. Naruto suspects the 2 are dating, they are not and informed him of the chunin exams.
Mina giggled at shipping the 2.
The next day, naruto asked Shikamaru to help find Sasuke... He's too busy with the chunin exams, choji arrived with a bento box for Shikamaru. They were suddenly attacked by ink drawings, this fellow ninja is really pale and odd sense of fashion.
"Uhhh... Who's that?" Sato asked.
"Naruto and sakura's new team member, he's only testing them." Joanne answered.
"He's kinda handsome." Setsuna twirled her hair.
"But what's with the get up?" Sero asked.
"Even I wonder about his sense of fashion..." Joanne sighed and snuggled up Dynamy who is currently sleeping in her arms.
Later, team 10 visited Kakashi at the hospital and greeted naruto, sakura and Sai. Shikamaru did not like him, the teens decided to eat at a restaurant except the shadow user who needs to go antler harvesting with he's father. Later that night, Shikamaru returns to the hospital and hears Asuma and Kakashi talking. They are discussing about the akatsuki targeting naruto.
"The terrorist group capturing the tailed beast." Izuku remembered.
"Yes they are." Stella confirmed.
The scene changes to the forest where something happened, Shikamaru had to use his shadow technique to subdue sora in the 9 tails cloak.
Everyone was shocked to see that, "wait, but naruto has the 9 tails!" Shoda said in confusion.
"Someone got a part of the 9 tails and put it inside sora, it needs to be extracted and given to naruto." Joanne explained.
It was not easy fighting this beast, but naruto eventually calmed sora down. Shikamaru plays shōgi with Asuma, but is surprised by Asuma's suddenly more offensive and reckless playstyle. Asuma explains that he's learned the importance of protecting the king, even if it means making sacrifices. Using shōgi as a metaphor, Asuma says that Shikamaru is like a knight while he's like a basic pawn. Shikamaru guesses that the king is like the Hokage, which Asuma disagrees with, though he refuses to elaborate.
Nezu looked most interested in Shikamaru, 'such brilliant mind...'
The scene changes to the hokage gathering both chunins and jonins, she explains the situation at hand about the akatsuki. She put them in teams to cover more ground in the fire land, Asuma's team consist of familiar ninjas and Shikamaru. They made it to the fire temple and learn Asuma's friend's body is nowhere from, turns out his body is worth a hefty bounty. The monks prayed for them and they left towards the bounty traditions, they made it to the station 1st.
"Do we have bounty hunters?" Pony asked.
"We still do, the government pays ex military to hunt down villains with large bounties. As long as they don't cause a lot of collateral damage, they get payed handsomely." Sir nighteye said.
"I've met a couple bounty hunters back in america." All might said.
The scene changes to Asuma and the team attacking Hidan, Shikamaru uses his shadow technique to restrain him while 2 ninjas stab him, but... He's still alive!
"Huh!? What's going on!?" The audience were baffled by this.
"Hidan and Kakuzu are known to be the immortal and undying ninjas of akatsuki, Hidan worships a god named jashin. Giving this god human sacrifices gives him immortality, I won't spoil kakuzu's title. You'll find out soon." Joanne explained.
Everyone was either horrified or disgusted, ibara was shaking like a leaf. "So this Hidan guy is a cultist!?" Jozu asked with a scared tone.
Kakuzu, then appears and attacks Shikamaru, forcing him to release Hidan. Their platoon regroups and Asuma instructs Shikamaru to try and restrain Hidan with his Shadow Sewing Technique while he fights him along, planning to decapitate him once he's captured. Shikamaru objects to the inherent risk of the plan, but goes along with it at Asuma's insistence. Hidan evades Shikamaru's shadow and Asuma's strikes, in the process managing to scratch Asuma's cheek with his Triple-Bladed Scythe. After licking Asuma's blood from the scythe and entering a symbol he drew on the ground earlier, Hidan links himself with Asuma, causing any damage he receives to also be done to Asuma.
Everyone was completely horrified, "and this is why that cult is very dangerous and how he kills his sacrifices." Joanne said.
"There has to be a way to stop this right?" Kirishima asked.
"I'll let you lot figure it out, think of it as training for your brain. Watch closely and figure out how he does that."
Tamaki looked scared and worried, he imagined Asuma as fatgum.
The obese hero sat close to suneater, "it's ok... Everything is going to be alright." He reassured him.
Hidan tries to take advantage of his link with Asuma to stab himself in the heart, relying on his own immorality to survive while Asuma dies. Shikamaru stops him with his shadow and, having picked up on how his ability works, forces Hidan to leave the symbol on the ground, thus breaking the link.
"Of course, symbolism! It's the only way to activate this pain link." Rin said.
"Now why does that remind me of what happened in the grand magic games." Momo said.
"That's true, but those magic links makes you feel everything. This is a technique for this cultist." Vivi said.
Now free to attack Hidan again, Asuma cuts his head off.
Almost everyone felt relieved which was disturbing, "at least he's--" awase was cut off by...
"If you wanted my help, you should've asked." Kakuzu said.
"Shut the fuck up and get me back to my body right now!" Hidan shouted.
Tamaki was shaking in horror, "no, no, no, no, that can't be possible!!"
Almost everyone shouted in shock and fear, "no... No fucking way!" Sen breathe erratically.
"He's alive! How the fuck is he still alive! He's head has been cut off fucking clean!!" Kamakiri was shaking in fear.
Ibara was so scared, she started to pray. "This... This shouldn't be possible... Reco-" vlad looked at the youth heroine.
"No, it's not. These are ninjas!" She said.
"Well that's a broken ability!" Power loader exclaimed.
"How is he still alive!?" Present Mic shouted.
"It's he's god, for every sacrifice he's given immortality. He can't die no matter how many ways you try." Joanne said.
"They need to get out of there..." Izuku said, everyone looks at him. "They are clearly out match and they still have kazuka to worry about!" That made a lot of sense.
Kakuzu took hidan's head and stitch him back.
"It's no wonder their a team..." Aizawa is wide awake.
Asuma, Izumo, and Kotetsu try to stop Kakuzu from doing so while Shikamaru, exhausted from the effort it took to move Hidan out of the circle, can only watch.
Everyone was horrified by kazuka's ability, many were provided barf bags and puked. "Their trapped with a psycho stronger than baffoon..." Mirio finished spilling his breakfast.
The immortal reestablish the link, despite the young chunin's attempts to reach in time to stop him, Hidan is able to himself in the heart. "NOOOOO!!!" Tamaki shouts in agony.
Off screen tamaki does the same.
Asuma keels over just as another of the Twenty Platoons – one which includes Chōji and Ino – arrives to provide backup. Hidan and Kakuzu retreat, giving Ino a chance to try to heal the damage to Asuma's body. Aware that his wounds are too severe to heal.
"No..."
"I'm sorry, but she is right..." Recovery girl solemnly said.
Asuma said some final words, especially to his students... It was a heart wrenching scene... Tamaki was openly crying.
Most of the audience began to cry, it feels like your mentor or idol just died before your eyes.
The scene changed to the hokage's office, they reported what happened. Tsunade understood and prepared the funeral, Shikamaru wanted to be the person to tell kurenai.
"Wait... A-are they-!?" Mina looked at Joanne.
"Yeah.. their finally a couple..." She confirmed, "and she later found out... She's pregnant with his child..." This made the pink girl cry, she was glad they became a couple but he was killed in action.
"Sometimes... This is similar to your hero career..." Gran torino said solemnly.
Shikamaru didn't attend the funeral... "Sh-shouldn't you have gone to the funeral?" Tamaki asked.
"I was grieving my own way... And... I couldn't face kurenai or konohamaru..." He sighed.
Many heroes can sympathize.
While Shikamaru was walking, he met the lady of a restaurant sweeping the ground. She told him to remind Asuma of his tab.
Everyone winced.
Shikamaru had to tell her the bad news... Later that night, he's father invited him to a game of shoji. But he's off his game to the point he threw it aside.
Most of the audience flinched.
He's father helped him finally grieve... That night, he uses the shoji pieces to devise a plan. The next day, he found choji training. He has a plan to take down the 2 akatsuki members, he also visit Ino who is onboard. They visit Asuma's grave before they leave, Kakashi volunteered to be the team leader and help them.
"As ninjas, they must avenge he's death..." Tokayomi said.
Shikamaru has a plan, they track down the 2 immortal and undying akatsuki. Ino use a bird for surveillance, Shikamaru launches the first attack, striking at them multiple times until he is able to pin their shadows using Asuma's chakra blades. He controlled Hidan to attack his partner, but Kakuzu already had 1 of his arms retrieve the chakra blade.
Everyone felt sick, "ugh! This is much worse!" Ochako wanted to puke, "at least baffoon is child friendly."
Shikamaru continues using Hidan to attack Kakuzu and with Chōji's help manoeuvres Kakuzu into position for Kakashi to attack him with his Lightning Cutter.
"That's 1 down." Manga said.
Before Kakashi could harm Hidan, Kakuzu came back to life. He kicks Kakashi away and joins Hidan, who Shikamaru was forced to release. Hidan attacks Shikamaru and the others with his scythe while Kakuzu uses his extra hearts' natures to attack from a distance, overwhelming them.
"Shikamaru better have a good plan against them." Izuku gulped.
"It's a lot worse than frankenstein's monster." Momo said.
Shikamaru decides that Hidan and Kakuzu will need to be separated if they're to be defeated and volunteers to deal with Hidan alone, who keeps getting away from Shikamaru's shadow capture. But he brilliantly got him and made him follow into the forest, 'and this is where I set your grave...' tamaki has the same expression as Shikamaru.
"The forest?" Toru questioned like everyone else.
'let's see that brilliant mind of yours...' sir nighteye thought getting impressed by the shadow user, he wasn't the only one since nezu is observing the situation.
'what did Kakashi give you?' the principal thought.
Once deep enough into the forest, Shikamaru surrounds themselves with explosive tags so that Hidan won't be able under any circumstances. Once Shikamaru is forced to release him, Hidan strikes, acquires some blood to create a link with, and stabs himself in the heart.
Everyone was horrified until Shikamaru moved and he's alive, "huh!?"
Turns out, that's not the blood he ingested. What he ingest is he's partner's blood, allowing Shikamaru to attack him from behind in an effort to cut off his head. Hidan notices in time to keep his head attached, but Shikamaru once again catches him with his shadow. He uses his shadow to attach all the surrounding explosive tags to Hidan and then activates a mark he set earlier, which causes the ground beneath Hidan to collapse into a pit.
Almost everyone was either impressed or shocked, 'we should have use native's blood against stain, or a fake blood!' izuku realizes, 'when it comes to strategy, Shikamaru is practically the winner.'
Hidan vows to dig himself out and come after Shikamaru, yeah about that... the surrounding forest belongs to the Nara clan, and that only they can enter and leave it. Deers began to show themselves, keeping their eyes on the cultist.
"In truth... Your lost history..." Tamaki glared at the screen.
He ignites the explosive tags with Asuma's lighter, he can see he's former teacher proud of him. After the cultist is halfway buried in the hole, Shikamaru throws a kunai and paper bomb to bury it completely. A stag digs something up from the dirt, Asuma's lighter.
"I... I think I like deers just as much as butterflies..." Tamaki mumbled quietly, mirio and Hado smiled at him.
Sakura, Tenzo and Sai arrived, despite his injuries. Shikamaru wanted to check his teammates, they arrive to find naruto on the ground exhausted. He won, the scene changes to the hokage's office where Tsunade gives them a few days off. Team 10 went their separate ways, the Nara visits Asuma's grave and placed the lighter on it. Kurenai is also there, he vows to teach the child just as Asuma taught him.
This made everyone feel warmth and understanding, just like the UA teachers.
The scene changes to the Nara compound, Shikamaru playing shoji with his father. they discuss Asuma's earlier metaphor: Asuma believed the king was like the next generation, which Shikamaru now also believes. Shikaku is glad that he's learned this, and then proceeds to defeat Shikamaru so that he'll realise he's not yet ready for the responsibility of protecting it.
Everyone's eyes widen, it was true. Children are the hope and future that will carry on, especially them. The 1st years are the next hero generation and it's their duty to carry on the hero legacy, "that's so manly!" Both kirishima and tetsutetsu cried manly tears.
The scene starts at the hokage's office, Tsunade informed Shikamaru of jiraya's death and put him in charge to decode the numbers from a picture of a toad's back. He 1st started to Kakashi but he has no idea how these codes are read, he visited naruto.
The solemn look on the blondes face was empathetic, especially all might and Aizawa who knows what it's like losing someone close to you. Mentor or best friend...
Shikamaru wanted to show naruto something, kurenai walking out from the grocery store.
Almost everyone started to laugh, "how can he not tell she's actually pregnant!?" Kyoka covered her face, trying not to laugh.
"Naruto! That is extremely rude!" Tenya shouted.
"Does he know what pregnant women look like? Ribbit." Tsuyu asked.
Shikamaru illustrates a role that both of them must someday become cool teachers and help the future generation of ninjas, this properly motivates the blonde.
The UA teachers and principal all smiled.
The scene changes to the library where they discuss about the codes, turns out 1 of the clues maybe in jiraya's recent and last book. Convineintly, Kakashi came just in time.
... "Are you kidding me!?" Ryukyu felt annoyed.
"The clue might be in that trashy novel!?" Ibara is disgusted.
"Maybe... It could be the last place anyone can look for." Hawks said.
"Kakashi doesn't feel comfortable saying the lines out loud..." Present Mic feels sorry for the silver haired man, midnight finds the blushing cute.
"This is stupid..." Power loader groaned and wanted to hit his head.
The next scene is in the hokage's office, Fukasaku doesn't think their coded message is correct but he wants to train naruto where the toad summons live. He's their only hope against pain, Tsunade, sakura and Shikamaru see him off... He has no idea where the location even is...
"Their doomed..." Monoma muttered.
"Their savior everyone..." Kendo said sarcastically.
It's ok, Fukasaku just used reverse summon. Days later, Shikamaru discusses possible meanings with Sakura and Shiho. Then pain attacked, the ninjas went into action. Shikamaru immediately goes looking for Kurenai, finding her in time to save her from a giant centipede.
Koda is shaking in fear and almost everyone looked pale, "you have got to be kidding me..." Shoda said with wide eyes.
He helps her find an evacuation point out of the village before going to see what other help he can provide, he saved Shiho but in the process broke he's leg. Despite his injured leg, he meets up with his father, Ino and her father to pool their knowledge about Pain. With their combined information they hypothesise that Pain is actually being controlled remotely by someone, likely from the highest point near Konoha. Because of his leg, Shikamaru must stay behind while Shikaku and Inoichi go searching. Naruto eventually defeats Pain and, upon his return to Konoha, Shikamaru joins in the celebration of his victory.
Everyone smiles remembering that victory.
The scene changes to a large tent, Shikamaru and Shiho are looking through photos they found in the rubble of the village. Naruto comes in, he wants to help at 1st but a particular photo changed his mind to go somewhere. He strangely asked about tulips and Shiho answered their meaning while looking at the Nara with a blush, poor tamaki was very uncomfortable.
Mina giggled, "looks like he's heroic deed made him an admire~" Hado teased.
Thankfully the shadow user told the blonde where tulips can be purchased, the scene changes to Shikamaru and choji taking a break from work. He took a chip from he's best friend's bag when Kakashi and Gai ran overhead of them, "wha-what was that about?" The ravenette stuttered.
"Their just having a race." Shikamaru answered.
Almost everyone sweatdrop.
The next scene starts at a valley where team 10 are getting wild boars to feed the village, Shikamaru was proud he has faith in his teammates. He remembered the mission where a bandit lord kidnapped the daughter of a village chief, Shikamaru out smarted the so called genius bandit lord.
Fatgum looked proud, 'i wish I could have a tactician brain like Shikamaru...' tamaki thought.
The scene changes to the Konoha teams of 10, 9 and 7. They are discussing about Sasuke and the summit where the village leaders went to, he attacked the leaders and killed their temporary hokage. They all, except naruto and sakura, agreed sasuke is beyond help. They need to accept he's never coming back and kill him on sight, naruto actually agrees with them.
"I guess they made their mind..." Ochako murmured.
The 4th shinobi war is starting, Shikamaru is called to a council of Konoha's tacticians to discuss strategies for the coming war and any preparations that will need to be made. Shikaku notes that because he's so young, Shikamaru will need to take extra care to take in all the information that's brought up, which Shikamaru promises to do. The next day, a nara clan member reported to Shikamaru on hidan's burial. Tamaki is shaking in rage.
"How!? How did they find where that fucker was fucking buried!?" Katsuki shouted.
"I don't know either, the report didn't include where the burial is because he is very dangerous." Joanne sighed and started to feed Dynamy crepes.
The scene starts with the team 10, 9 and 8. They arrived to find naruto out cold and a clone with the power of the kyuubi, they had to fight ninja zombies and evacuate the citizens. Half the village is leveled but team 7 will finish their mission while the back up protect the villagers.
"After dealing with the clone, they went home. Sadly, Hidan is now part of the war." Joanne explained.
"Great..." Tamaki looked down frustrated.
With the up coming war, Tsunade is relying on Shikamaru to help. While playing shoji with his father, he's off he's game feeling the pressure. He's father suggested he should go to mokuzu island to relieve he's stress, "i-is that ok?"
"Yeah, this will help motivate and elevate the stress." The clan head said.
"Why do I get the feeling his holding up something?" Aizawa asked.
Shikamaru and ten ten are on the island, something didn't sit well. They met up with naruto's sailing team and are setting sail through Sunday 3, the blonde was whining about not eating any of the island's delicacies. Aoba asked where is their supplies to take back to the village, ten ten use storage seals and showed off.
Most of the audience found it kinda funny.
The fog rolled in and Shikamaru asked gai's presence, turns out he has sea sickness. But he came up look around, the shadow user's face held an uneasy look.
"Why do I get the feeling this fog isn't natural?" Midnight asked.
"That's because it isn't." Stella said.
The boat had to maneuver through rocks that came out of nowhere, Gai destroyed some of them to protect the ship. But the largest one... 'that didn't sound right...' tamaki thought and his eyes narrowed.
"That's metal, if by some weird circumstances that a rock is made of iron. It would be the reason why it sounds like that." Power loader said.
Yamato use his wood technique to pull the boat away from the rock, naruto and another ninja were almost flung out of the boat if Shikamaru didn't use his shadow technique to save them. But a whirlpool suddenly appeared, the shadow user told naruto to use a giant rasengan and it destroyed the whirlpool. But they are facing the rocks again, the large rock and another whirlpool. 'this isn't right, with the war coming. This must be the enemy going out of their way to stop naruto from reaching the land of lightning, kidnapping him perhaps?' tamaki thought.
"He's right! This isn't supposed to be normal, someone is manipulating their course." Izuku said.
"I believe so but how can they escape this death trap loop?" Nezu asked and everyone began to ponder.
'if I was there, I could use my quirk and haki to find a way out and the person doing all that...'
'i can use my quirk for echo location but whoever controls the rocks and whirlpool, controls the fog.' kyoka thought.
'i can only rely on haki, sure I can blast the rocks. But you need to get to the bastard who set the trap up...' katsuki thought.
'i can use my quirk and haki to locate the person doing this.' setsuna thought.
'maybe I can float the ship...?' ochako thought.
'freezing the water is a good idea, but not too thick. We need to find the person doing this...' Shoto thought.
'i learned some ki techniques, maybe I can use ki to locate the person and knock him or her out.' mashirou thought.
'maybe I should cut the whirlpool...' Kamakiri thought.
'shrinking rocks is easier but... I've never tried a whirlpool...' yui thought.
They were exhausted, Shikamaru didn't have a choice but to rely on he's shadow technique, but naruto will deal with the rocks. He reminded him that he is the brains to get them out of there, so Shikamaru think back at the beginning...
"Wow, if selkie was here he would have thought of that as well." Ryukyu said.
"So whoever is doing this is making them go in circles, they haven't left the island at all." Fatgum said.
"Wait, that's it!" Tamaki, izuku, momo, kendo and katsuki figured it out.
"What is it?" Shoto asked.
"It seems you lot have figured out how to escape the route yes?" Nezu asked.
"Wait, a bit later. Look!" Vivi pointed to the screen.
Shikamaru found something glowing on the rock and it marked the boat.
"A glow in the dark mark!?" Tenya questioned.
"It's like the boat was supposed to make a scrape there! Ribbit!" Tsuyu exclaimed.
"So whoever's trapping them is actually the people from the island!?" Monoma said in shock.
"That's about right." Hawks said.
"But why? Do they work for their enemy?" Mina asked.
Shikamaru has a plan once they saw the whirlpool, he needs ten ten's help. The scene changes to the ninjas all standing on the water and holding the ship crew safe, turns out, the island are raiders and planned all this. Their boat, in a storage scroll.
Almost everyone cheered and the teachers and heroes looked at the students proudly, "of course! Trick them into thinking they got hit!" Sero said.
"Making them reveal themselves and store the boat in a storage scroll!" Sato said.
"The looks those islanders gave them is a dead giveaway that they don't like us at all." Tamaki said.
"If selkie was there, he'd also noticed the boat going around in circles. But I don't think he would have known the islanders were working to rob ships, ribbit." Tsuyu said.
"True, an investigation would have started but those people would try to hide their evidence." All might said.
The scene changes back to Konoha where the ninjas have been enlisted to the war, Shikamaru is later taking a nap on top of some wood when he overheard konohamaru shouting.
"Huh?" Many were confused.
Turns out, he wants to join the war. He's a full fledged shinobi, he wants to take part. So the shadow user asked him a question; define the king you feel you must protect. That's The only way for him to get acknowledgment.
Everyone's eyes widen remembering Asuma.
The shadow user gets off the wood, he walks a little and picks up a stone. He carves it and throws it to konohamaru, later he's teammates ran towards him with urgency. Konohamaru wants to prove himself by fighting Temari and defeating her.
Everyone gasped, "wait, isn't she stronger now?" Shihai asked.
"Yes, she's either high jonin level or special jonin." Diamond answered.
The 3 head to where a fight is going on, they stopped to see Temari defeated the genin and mocked him for being naruto's student. Then the young ninja stood back up, created a clone and they form a rasengan. That's he's cue to stop the fight, konohamaru was pulled by his shadow and hit the ground. The ground itself, made a devastating impact from the rasengan. Konohamaru's teammates ran into the whole, he was frustrated and angry he's fight got interrupted. Then Moegi slapped him, and told him what happened to her the day pain attack their village.
"Konohamaru, you need to understand. The war is important but there will be no one to protect the village, they need you there." Mirio said tears threatening his eyes.
"Someone needs to protect them... The elderly, disable and children." Hado look close to crying.
"You understand the riddle now?" Tamaki asked.
Konohamaru finally understands the king he must protect, and he'll make naruto proud. Temari respects him after that.
Everyone smiles, "ok, we're not watching the war. You've seen most of it from hinata's memories so we'll watch mirajane's next." Joanne announced and Hado flew up and cheered.
