Well, 3 chapter in one year not as bad. Honestly I have no idea where I am taking this story half the time like I have thoughts on stuff that is not planned on Happening for like awhile, but hey I rather know How I am gonna end it rather then oh what's going on. So yeah by the way if anybody wants to a reading of this or what go on ahead, I always like seeing this cause reading of stories get both recognition for bother the person writing the reading and the person of the original story, now granted I have no delusion that this story is popular is not popular enough to do that, but I at least would like to see it. Anyway enough rambling ONTO THE STORY.

Chapter 16: Light and Dark

Ruby rested her head on her hand, gazing into the distance with a melancholy expression. Just then, she was startled as someone slammed their palms on the table she was sitting at.

"I need you to pick a tablecloth," Weiss said with a smile, sliding two squares over to Ruby, both similar shades of white.

"Aren't they both the same?" Ruby asked, confused, examining the two cloths.

"I don't even know why I asked!" Weiss sighed in frustration before walking away, leaving Yang to enter with a massive sound speaker on her shoulder, causing the table to jump in the air when she dropped it.

"So, have you picked out a dress yet?" Yang asked.

"What's the point? Who cares about the dance if Blake isn't going?" Ruby replied, feeling despondent.

"Oh, don't worry; she's going," Yang reassured her. "Weiss! I thought we agreed: No doilies!"

Weiss walked up to Yang, pointing at her face. "If I don't get doilies, you don't get fog machines!"

The conversation was interrupted by Neptune and Sun entering the room, and the topic of fog machines sparked their interest.

"Your dance is gonna have fog machines?" Neptune asked looking to the heiress.

Weiss responded with a sweet demeanor. "We were thinking about it..."

"That's pretty cool." Neptune said seemingly impressed.

Sun chimed in, acting suave and teasing Weiss. "You ladies all excited for dress-up?"

Ruby retorted sarcastically. "Pfft... Yeah, right!"

"Laugh all you want. I'll be turning heads tomorrow night!" Yang said playfully defending herself.

"Well a certain someone's head. "Weiss said as she turned her attention to Sun and Neptune. "What are you two wearing?"

Sun made a nonchalant gesture towards his shirtless outfit. "Uuhhh... this?"

Neptune intervened, humorously trying to protect his friend's image. "Ignore him; he knows not what he says."

"Hey, I may have moved to Mistral, but I grew up in Vacuo. It's not exactly a shirt-and-tie kind of place." Sun said as he playfully knocked away Neptune's hand.

Yang, Ruby, and Weiss exchanged amused looks at Sun's response. "Yeah, we noticed."

Sun, now feeling a bit awkward, scratched the back of his head and inquired about Blake. "Soooo... what does Blake think of all this? She still being all, y'know... Blake-y?"

"Obviously." Weiss replied with a hint of disapproval. "And what's worse is that Naruto can't through to her either."

Ruby voiced her concerns. "I still can't think of a way to change her mind."

In response, Yang offered reassurance to her friends. "Guys, trust me; Blake will be at the dance tomorrow."

Menma walked through downtown Vale in a casual outfit wearing a black, high-collared jacket with a zipper resembling the Organization's symbol. Over this, he wore another jacket, this one unzipped and white, with several black block designs and a gray hem on the end of each sleeve. This jacket's collar was red and pleated and folded back. His pants were black were over a pair of combat boots. He stops for a second turning to the skyline when he thought he heard something with his enhanced hearing. Narrowing his eye's he see a shadow move as if to avoid detection. Menma then turned down an ally and walked down before stopping once again.

"You can come out now!" Menma called out as he summoned his keyblade. "You know you can't hide from me."

Landing softly in seated was a young woman as her skin turns to a tan complexation with several scale like dots on her. She has brown hair that is tied back in a ponytail that curls at the end like a chameleon's tail. She wears a black, gray and dark gray sleeveless stealth suit with short legs that resembles a playsuit with black trim around the legs. The color divide is at the center of her thighs. The stealth suit's zipper is gold, and over it, she wears gray belt straps with gold buckles. She wears black calf high boots that are folded over and a black glove on her right hand. She wears a Grim Mask with chameleon horns that also points upward at the top and extends past her hairline; this resembles the crest of a veiled chameleon.

"So it is true, you are alive Menma." The Woman said with a bit of sadness and relief.

"Ilia..." Menma said softly as the now named Ilia takes off her mas revealing her grey eyes and freckled face. "You shouldn't of come."

"Is that all you can say, "You shouldn't of come." Of course I did." Ilia said narrowing her eye's as they become red with anger. "How would you react, if one of your childhood friends come back from the supposed grave."

"Adam told you didn't he?" Menma answered with a question causing Ilia's skin start to become red as she pulls out her weapon.

"STOP DEFLECTING!" Ilia said as she launched her weapon in Whip form at Menma who causally Dodges the attack. "You have nothing to say about me or Sienna?"

"Sienna-... Sienna is not important right now." Menma said with regret as he looks down in shame.

Ilia pauses for a moment, as she looks at Menma. "We thought you were dead, everyone, your parents, Blake, even Kurama thinks you are dead."

"Kurama will be fine." Menma said as he looks back up to Ilia.

"No it is not fine, he is not fine." Ilia said giving him a glare once again.

"Ilia, I know you're upset, and I'm truly sorry for causing you all this pain," Menma replied, his voice carrying a mix of remorse and understanding. "Believe me, I never wanted any of you to think I was gone forever. There is something wrong with me."

Ilia's anger seemed to waver slightly as she watched Menma's sincere expression. "Wrong with You? What is wrong with you"

Menma hesitated, his gaze shifting away momentarily before returning to meet Ilia's eyes. "I can't say exactly, except it is something that could affect everyone we care about, including Sienna. I need make sure what happens doesn't hurt anyone I care about."

Ilia's grip on her weapon tightened, but her anger seemed to be mixing with concern now. "And you thought faking your death was the best way to protect us? Do you have any idea what that did to everyone?"

"I never wanted to hurt anyone" Menma admitted, his voice tinged with regret. "I was trying to keep you all safe. I'm sorry, Ilia."

Ilia's red eyes softened, and she lowered her weapon, the tension in her stance easing slightly. "Menma..."

Menma simply looked her and did not respond.

Ilia sighed, a mixture of emotions playing across her face. "I need time to process all of this, Menma. And Sienna... she deserves to know the truth, too."

"I know Ilia, I will see her soon." Menma said as Ilia gave him a slight nod as she turns to leave but then turns to face Menma one more time.

"I am happy that you are alive, Fox boy." Ilia said with a small smile.

"Yeah, stay safe Chem Girl." Menma said as Ilia takes off disappearing into the night.

Menma begins to walk away his smile turn to a frown as he starts to disappear into crowd. 'I hope everything is ok Sienna...'

The library was quiet, with only the soft hum of holographic screens breaking the silence. Blake sat at one of the tables, her exhaustion evident in her drooping eyelids and unfocused gaze. She was immersed in her work, trying to concentrate on the holographic screen in front of her, but her weariness was evident.

Suddenly, a small, bright red light appeared on the screen, moving up and down in a mesmerizing pattern. Blake's eyes followed the light down to her hand, perplexed by the unexpected interruption. Just as quickly as it appeared, the light disappeared, leaving her irritated and on edge.

Her instincts kicked in, and she glanced around, searching for the source of the disturbance, but found no one among the tables nearby. Determined to get back to her work, she returned her attention to the holographic screen, only for the red laser dot to reappear briefly on her hand, triggering another round of searching to no avail.

The red dot now taunting her on both the screen and her hand, Blake's frustration grew. With a scowl, she pounded her fists on the table, trying to rid herself of the distraction. But when the light hit her hand once more, she decided to confront the perpetrator directly.

Following the trail of the red dot, Blake stood up and followed it blindly through the maze of shelves and books in the library. Her instincts were in overdrive, but as she turned a corner, she bumped into someone, jolting her out of her animal-like state.

The person before her was none other than Yang, who held a laser pointer in her right hand while cheerfully waving with her left.

"He-lloooo!" Yang sang in a sing-song voice.

Blake was taken aback, not expecting her partner to be behind this mischief. She demanded, "What are you...?"

Yang grabbed Blake's arm, her tone serious, "We need to talk."

Amid Blake's single cry of surprise, Yang whisked her partner away, leaving the red dot and the library's shadows behind.

Emerging from the steaming bathroom in nothing but a pink towel wrapped around his lower body, Ren sighs in contentedness and starts walking away, only to be stopped by Jaune suddenly appearing in front of him.

"We need to talk!" Jaune said as he pulls Ren away amid said teen's single cry of surprise, leaving his bottle of "Samurai Shampoo" to spin in the air before dropping to the ground.

Jaune sat down on his bed in the dorm room, as he looks to Ren. "Ren... I'm just gonna say it. You are one of my best friends. These past few months, I feel like we've really bonded, even though you don't say much. I mean, you're really quiet. To be perfectly honest, I don't know that much about you, personally, but darnit, I consider you to be the brother I never had!"

Ren looks very uncomfortable due to his state of dress and how Jaune was talking. "And I you." He replies while trying to be attentive from then on, but keeps glancing at his usual outfit hanging by the door.

"Which is why I wanted to get your advice on... girls." Jaune said looking down to the ground.

"Girls?" Ren asked sounding surprised, but starts reaching out for his clothes while Jaune is looking away.

"I just... don't know... how to... girls. Um, I-I guess what I'm asking is... Well, how did you and Nora... y'know..." Jaune said trying to find the right words.

Ren then puts his hand down after almost touching the green robe, but looks even more awkward now. "Uh... uh... uh..."

Nora then clears her throat to get the boys' attention on her, wearing nothing but her emblazoned headphones, a "BOOP" T-shirt, and pink lightning bolt shorts as she reads a book resting on her knees, before she laughs nervously. "We're actually not "together-together...""

"NORA I SAID HEADPHONES ON!" Jaune yells out making Nora to do so quickly under her leader's command.

Ren then turned back focusing on Jaune. "Jaune, what is this all about?"

Jaune sighs deeply before speaking, obviously depressed by staring at the floor as he talks. "It's Weiss. I'm completely head-over-heels for her, and she won't even give me a chance. She's cold, but she's also incredible. She's smart, and graceful, and talented. I mean, have you heard her sing? I-I just wish she's take me seriously, y'know? I wish I could tell her how I feel without messing it all up."

"Then do it." A voice calls out causing everyone to see Pyrrha in the doorway.

"Uh, wha?" Jaune stuttered out in confusion.

Pyrrha then walked into the room continuing what she was saying. "Tell her exactly what you said. No ridiculous schemes, no pick-up lines. Just... be honest."

"But what if I-"

"Jaune." Pyrrha said with a smile. "You can't get it wrong if it's the truth."

"You're right." Jaune responded as he looks up with a new confidence then stands up. "Thanks, Pyrrha!" He then looks back to his bed as he goes out. "Good talk, Ren!"

Ren smiles and waves his thanks while Jaune closes the door. Upon doing so, Pyrrha becomes noticeably less cheerful as she walks over to her desk, with a concerned Nora watching her with sad eyes.

Nora then sighs. "Practice what you preach, Pyrrha."

The dim glow of sunset filtered through the classroom windows, casting a warm, orange hue that gently illuminated the otherwise empty space. Blake paced restlessly, her arms crossed in a gesture of irritation. Yang sat perched cross-legged on the central desk, the tranquil light highlighting her calm demeanor.

"Yang, if you're going to tell me to stop, you may as well save your breath," Blake stated, her frustration evident.

Yang's voice carried a soothing weight as she replied, "I don't want you to stop; I want you to slow down."

With her arms still folded, Blake's agitation persisted. "I don't have the luxury to slow down."

Yang's response was firm, yet gentle. "It's not a luxury; it's a necessity."

Blake's conviction held steady. "The 'necessity' is stopping Torchwick."

Her voice unwavering, Yang addressed her partner's determination. "And we're going to. But first you have to sit down and listen to what I have to say." She patted the desk across from her, an inviting gesture.

Reluctance was visible in Blake's momentary pause, but eventually, she conceded, draping her legs over the desk's edge. "Fine."

The classroom seemed to hold its breath as Yang began to share a personal tale. "Ruby, Naruto and I grew up in Patch, an island off the coast of Vale. Our parents were Huntsmen. Our dad taught at Signal, and our mom took on missions around the kingdom." As Yang spoke, the memories painted vivid images in the air.

"Her name was Summer Rose, and she was, like... Super-Mom: Baker of cookies and slayer of giant monsters." A fleeting shadow of sorrow crossed Yang's face. "And then... one day she left for a mission and never came back." Blake's expression softened in empathy.

"It was tough. Ruby was really torn up, but... I think she was still too young to really get what was going on, y'know? Naruto changed, he became overprotective of Ruby and he just never the same. And my dad just kind of... shut down." The weight of Yang's words was palpable. "It wasn't long before I learned why. Summer wasn't the first love he lost; she was the second. The first... was my mom." Blake's astonishment was palpable, hanging in the air like a question. "He wouldn't tell me everything, but I learned that the two of them had been on a team together with Summer and Qrow, and that she'd left me and Naruto with him right after we were born. No one had seen her since."

"Why did she leave you and Naruto?" Blake asked narrowing her eye's wondering why Naruto never told her this.

Yang sighs, then turns to the chalkboard. "That question... Why?" Then she gets off the desk and walks to the chalkboard, picking up a piece of chalk. "I didn't know an answer, but I was determined to find out. It was all I thought about. I would ask anyone I could about what they knew about her."

"Did Naruto know?" Blake then asked as looked to Yang.

"I did tell him, but he didn't care honestly he just wanted to be left alone." Yang answered narrowing her eyes, then continued with her story. "Then, one day, I found something. What I thought was a clue that could lead me to answers, or maybe even my mother. I waited for Dad to leave the house, put Ruby in a wagon, and headed out. I must've walked for hours. I had cuts and bruises, I was totally exhausted, but I wasn't gonna let anything stop me. When we finally got there, I could barely stand, but I didn't care; I had made it. And then I saw them. Those burning red eyes..."

In the realm of memories, a younger Yang stood before a worn-down house, a wagon behind her, a sleeping Ruby inside. The shadows concealed ominous figures with fiery eyes.

"There we were: A toddler sleeping in the back of a wagon and a stupid girl too exhausted to even cry for help. We might as well have been served on a silver platter. But, as luck would have it, our uncle showed up just in time." The tableau unfolded, a dance of danger and salvation painted in shades of red.

Yang's voice shifted back to the present, as she turned to face the chalkboard. "My stubbornness should've gotten us killed that night." She picked up a piece of chalk, the instrument of her recollections.

Blake's plea reverberated in the air, heavy with emotion. "Yang... I'm sorry that happened to you, and I understand what you're trying to tell me, but this is different. I'm not a child, and this isn't just a search for answers! I can't just—"

Yang's frustration resurfaced, her fists clenched, flames flickering in her eyes. "I told you: I'm not telling you to stop! I haven't! To this day, I still want to know what happened to my mother and why she left me and Naruto, but I will never let that search control me. We're going to find the answers we're looking for, Blake. But if we destroy ourselves in the process, what good are we?"

Blake's desperation was evident. "You don't understand! I'm the only one who can do this!"

Yang's sharp turn revealed eyes of fire, flames reflected in her gaze. "No, you don't understand! If Roman Torchwick or Axel or even your brother walked through that door, what would you do?"

The tension was palpable as Blake's determination held firm. "I'd fight them!"

Yang's push was physical, a forceful gesture of reality. "You'd lose!"

The exchange escalated as Blake pushed back, to no avail. Then, an unexpected embrace shattered the tension, leaving both stunned. The once-fiery eyes of Yang returned to their familiar purple hue.

"I'm not asking you to stop. Just please, get some rest," Yang's words held a gentle plea. "Not just for you, but for the people you care about." As she stepped away, her parting words lingered in the air. "And if you feel like coming out tomorrow, I'll save you a dance."

With a wink and a moment of shared understanding, Yang left, and Blake's internal struggle was left echoing in the empty classroom, marked by the watchful gaze of an all-seeing eye on the chalkboard.

The pristine halls of Beacon Academy buzzed with anticipation, students moving to and fro in preparation for the forthcoming dance. Among them was Jaune, his steps light and his demeanor eager as he clutched a white rose in his hand. The smile on his face spoke volumes as he strolled through the corridors, his heart clearly in high spirits.

However, his progress came to a sudden halt at the entrance of a hallway. A familiar voice reached his ears, prompting him to duck behind a set of columns, hidden but intrigued. The voice belonged to none other than Weiss.

"Weiss!" the name was accompanied by a warm chuckle as Jaune peeked around the corner, witnessing her brisk walk.

Neptune, the recipient of her attention, looked up with an easygoing smile. "Oh, uh, hey, what's up?"

Weiss wasted no time, her words hanging in the air. "I know this is a little unorthodox, but... I wanted to ask you something." With an air of innocence, she placed her hands behind her back, her gaze steady.

The scene unfolded before Jaune's eyes, his smile slowly fading as he sensed the impending words. "Would you... like to accompany me to the dance tomorrow?" The question was posed with a mixture of hope and uncertainty.

As Neptune scratched the back of his head, a smile tugged at his lips. Simultaneously, Jaune's confidence seemed to waver, his grip on the rose loosening until it slipped from his hand, dropping to the ground. The once-cheery atmosphere now felt heavy, as Jaune turned and retreated from where he had come.

Yang stood poised at a podium, exuding an air of confidence in her short white dress and black heels. The atmosphere was festive, colored with streamers, balloons, and students donning elegant attire.

Yang's excitement was evident as she greeted the guests. "Ooohh, you look beautiful!"

Ruby, walking with evident discomfort in her red dress and black lace, couldn't help but groan. "Can we have a serious talk about how Weiss fights in these?" she quipped, struggling to maintain her balance as she approached the podium, drawing laughter from her sister.

"Looking good Ruby." Sakura said coming up to the pair in a kimono/dress hybrid with Sasuke in tow who was wearing a standard Black and White Tux. "You as well Hippo."

"Yeah sure Billboard brow." Yang said with a twitch in her eye. "Where did you get your dress, at the discount store?"

"Oh, you wanna go then blondie." Sakura said with flames shooting out her eyes as she got real close to Yang.

"Any time you are pinkie!" Yang retorted getting close to Sakura as lighting danced between them before they were seperated by Sasuke.

"Enough you too, save the fighting for the tournement when it comes." Sasuke said with a scowl as the pair of girls stop fighting for a sec.

"Geez Yang." A voice called out as everyone turned to see Nathan standing there in a Altesian Military Uniform. "I know your a knock out, but can you try not to knock anyone out."

"Oh it's, how I roll Soldier Boy, by the way your not looking to bad yourself." Yang said with a small glint in her eye.

In the meantime, Naruto walked toward the dance fiddling with his tie comically, gaining a lot of attention.

"Stupid... dumb... neck trap!" Naruto muttered in exasperation.

Blake's voice chimed in, her presence accompanied by her dark purple dress and violet eyeshadow. "I knew you'd look better in a tie."

Naruto's struggle came to a sudden halt as Blake stepped forward, linking her arm with his. "Sooo, does this mean we're going... together?" Naruto asked with a hint of curiosity.

Blake's reply held a touch of playfulness. "You are my boyfriend, so it is only right, but my first dance has been spoken for."

Naruto tripped over himself for a second. "Wait by who?"

"Your sister." Blake simply said leaning her head on his shoulder.

"Of course she would do something like that." Naruto said with a heavy sigh as the pair walked in.

Inside the ballroom, the scene was alive with activity. Students in elegant dresses and dapper suits swayed to the music, filling the space with laughter and movement. Blake and Yang danced together, their connection evident in every step. Naruto and Blake followed suit, their chemistry undeniable.

Amid the joyful atmosphere, Yang joined Ruby and Weiss at the back of the room, observing Blake's enjoyment with a contented smile.

"I told you she would come," Yang said, her confidence validated.

"Weiss: Mission accomplished," Weiss added, a sense of achievement in her voice.

Ruby's inquiry broke through their camaraderie. "Soooo, what do we do now?"

Yang's response was simple and filled with joy. "Just have fun!" With those words, she left to do just that.

Meanwhile, Ruby's discomfort was palpable as she shuffled in her painful footwear. "Stupid lady stilts!"

As if on cue, Ozpin appeared by Ruby's side, his presence a reminder of wisdom. "Not enjoying yourself?" he inquired gently.

Ruby's reply was a mix of surprise and laughter. "Oh, no, everything's fine! I'm just not much of a fancy pantsy... dancey girl."

Ozpin's words carried a lesson as he looked out at the dancing couples. "Well, you can't spend your whole life on the battlefield, even if you may want to."

Ruby's arms crossed, and her expression turned thoughtful. "Yeah, that lesson's been floating around a lot lately."

The headmaster's gaze shifted to the dancers, and he mused, "If you think about it, fighting and dancing aren't so different. Two partners interlocked, although one wrong move on the ballroom merely leads to a swollen foot."

Ruby's gaze dropped to her own feet, a wry smile playing on her lips. "Or a twisted ankle."

Ozpin's voice carried a touch of sentiment as he continued, "It's not every day that friends are able to come together like this. Time has a way of testing our bonds, but it's nights like these that can help keep them stronger than ever. Nights like these are ones we'll never forget."

Ruby's smile reflected the appreciation she felt for his wisdom. The sound of the doors opening diverted her attention, and her gaze landed on Yang, who stood behind the podium, her eyes bright with anticipation.

"You guys are just in time!" Yang's voice held excitement, and the ballroom was now graced by the presence of Mercury and Emerald, their stylish attire a testament to the occasion.

"Wouldn't miss it for the world," Mercury chimed in, with a disguised Menma in tow with Cinder who gave small evil smirk.

AND SCENE well writer block is real. The Part with introducing Illia was by far the hardest cause I have no Idea how I wanted to protray Illia's relationship with Menma as well as Sienna. It's hard and frustrating but I hope to remedy this with an Idea I have brewing, but whether I do it or not I honestly have no idea. Another part that was kinda tough to right was Yang's convo about Raven cause it make Blake wondering like hey why did he never tell me about this and what else he is hiding. Like it's stated its harem story but I want the relationship with Weiss and Naruto to happen naturally I do not know yet if I'm just gonna have Blake and Naruto break up for a bit for Wiess to come in or just Blake inviting Weiss in, which is so overplayed in Harem stories. Anyway enough rambling from me I'll eventually get chapter 17 going, when that will be is anyone's guess so yeah see ya.
