Kagome blinked tired eyes as she tried to such in a breath of air. ONly to end up swallowing a sticky fluid as something was dislodged from her mouth and throat. Instantly, she panicked while her body tried to force the foreign substance out.

"Dammit, she had to wake up now."

The words were muffled as if she had earplugs in her ears. Though her vision was still unfocused, Kagome could make out a tall, slender person with long black hair and pale skin. Causing her mind to tell her they looked familiar. And that they were not good people.

"Stubborn to the end, Kagome."

Her struggling body went still at the words spoken. Fear Kagome couldn't explain seemed to take control of her body. Keeping her lips pressed shut so no more fluid could enter her mouth, Kagome let her eyes track the person.

Soon the fluid vanished after a loud screech of a valve being turned was heard. Allowing Kagome's feet to touch the bottom of the tank she was in. The trembling she was unaware of due to the fluid had Kagome collapsing to her knees. Soon she got a good view of the speaker.

Quickly her mind supplied a name, location, and the events leading up to this situation. She was back in Konoha with Orochimaru. He was young and still in his original body. And she was a precious test subject. Whose blood allowed him to graph genes on others with a hundred percent success rate.

"My little bird, you always do things with the most inconvenient timing," Orochimaru said. Tsking as he tapped on her tank.

Kagome knew this was her second life in this universe. So she knew this man and all the evil he would commit. So, putting a half-assed smile on, Kagome lifted her hand, pressing them on the tank's glass. She enjoyed Orochimaru's skepticism.

Kagome wiggled her fingers and pressed her palms harder against the tank's glass. Silently she indicated Orochimaru should do the same. She was glad when he conceded and did so. Then slowly, Kagome began to curl her fingers on each hand until only her middle fingers were raised at the mad man before her.

Everything in her was screaming she shouldn't do this. But seeing Orochimarus' yellow eyes go wide as blood rushed to his face, Kagome felt pleased with herself. Now he was a legit mad man in the literal sense.

"You find mocking me funny?" Orochimaru asked. His eyes narrowed at her. "Then I guess I can put you first for today's experiments."

Orochimaru looked down at the little woman strapped to the table. He remembered the first time he'd seen her. HE was still a genin in the academy when his sensei walked in carrying her in his arms. Her blood-matted black hair was sticking to pale skin stained crimson in patches.

Orochimaru had felt that she was unique. Because not once did she cry or appear scared. He'd gone to great lengths to befriend her. He was falling hard for those wide, innocent blue eyes and sweet smiles. Yet she was so reserved and watchful at the same time, causing a contradiction.

Yet the day came after he'd graduated and been placed on a genin team. A surprise attack had cost him Kagome. He'd watched as she died in his arms, the body slowly growing cold. Something in him began to break.

As Sarutobi tried to take the lifeless body of Kagome from him, a shining silver light engulfed Kagome. Orochimaru found himself staring into wide blue eyes and a blushing face when it faded. Things devolved from there, and he'd been separated from his little bird.

In the coming years, he'd learned Kagome did not have chakra. And she had died and revived several times. It was causing his obsession to grow and his fear of death. He needed to become immortal to stay by Kagome's side. Whose skills were non-ninja related.

"Oh, you're awake again. Let us continue, my precious little bird," Orochimaru said, smiling.

Orochimaru reached toward the small table beside him and grasped a scalpel and forceps. His gaze became clinical as he gazed at Kagome's exposed chest.

"Let's recap, Kagome," He said. "We've disemboweled you, severed limbs, bled you out, melted parts of your body with acid, burned all the flesh from your body with fire, and each time you've revived and regenerated."

The slight sheen of sweat beading on her pale flesh had Orochimaru's heart beating faster. Anticipation began to build in his chest. Each time she'd revived, her body was hyper-sensitive and gorgeous, covered in her fresh blood. It drove him to take her, claim her, mark her body repeatedly.

"Today, I'm going to time how long it takes you to return after I remove your heart," He whispered in a soft, sweet tone.

The muffled cries from her made Orochimaru chuckle. He truly enjoyed how she responded to their 'fun' time experimenting. So placing the scalpel at the top of Kagome's sternum and applying pressure, he made the first incision. Orochimaru relished in the smothered cries of pain as he felt his breath hitch as the crimson blood seeped out and spread like a dew-covered flower across her pale flesh.

000000

Orochimaru glanced at the clock. IT had been three minutes since he removed Kagome's heart, which he held carefully in his hands. When he looked back at her, his love, his obsession, Orochimaru saw his blood-spattered face reflected in her glassy blue eyes.

He watched patiently as they grew dimmer. Eventually, they clouded over, becoming unseeing as the seconds ticked by. And slowly, Orochimaru grew concerned and looked at the clock seeing it had been eight and a half minutes. This far surpassed the average time it usually took Kagome to revive. The heart in his hand was a cold lump of bloody muscle.

"No! No," Orochimaru yelled. It was said in complete denial.

Yet he couldn't refute it; Kagome was dead and not coming back. He was curling his fingers until he felt his nails pierce the heart he held. Orochimaru promised to become immortal and find a way to revive Kagome.

THE END!
