Danny finally felt like he had found the perfect words to express himself to Ember and what he felt for her. It only took him a dozen drafts to figure them out. Even when he thought he'd found the right words after the eighth, ninth, and tenth write up, he still kept going back for a new version. He really did feel very strongly for Ember, and with her past he didn't want to screw this up. He still had no idea what happened with that date she had, but her reaction to it that night in the cemetery when it was brought up gave Danny a pretty clear indicator that it was not a good memory. Because of that Danny was very determined to make sure this went well and to show Ember that his feelings for her were absolutely legit. He didn't have any idea what would come of this and still wasn't entirely sure what his full feelings were, but he was willing to take the chance that it could lead to something good. Since he hadn't seen her again since the incident in the cemetery he hadn't had the opportunity to fully explore what his feelings were, meaning they'd just been stewing in his mind for weeks and haunting him.
Taking a deep breathe, Danny stood in his parent's basement, staring right at the ghost portal. Somewhere in there was the beautiful rock and roll ghost he had been developing growing feelings for over the last several weeks, and as more time went by those feelings were only getting stronger. He'd memorized all of the songs on her album from repeatedly listening to them. He'd regularly been staring at her face on the flier that he'd gotten when he fought the Box Ghost in Skery City. He'd even started reading a book he got from the Amity Park Library on guitar lessons for beginners in an attempt to learn more about what she loved, music.
"Well, it's now or never I guess, I'm going ghost," said Danny quietly to himself as he morphed into Danny Phantom and flew into the ghost zone, letter in his hand and a special little gift to show his feelings for her.
Since Danny had never finished mapping out the ghost zone with Sam and Tucker he was flying pretty blind right now. He had learned about Ember for the first time when they were in the middle of that task, so finding her realm specifically hadn't been on his agenda until now. Thankfully he'd been able to verify that the parts they had already mapped out were not where her realm was, so he at least knew he could skip over the areas that were already marked.
While flying Danny kept repeating the lines of his letter in his head over and over again. He had the whole letter memorized due to how much time he had spent on it. In fact now that he was actually here to try to deliver it he was feeling more nervous. It was so much easier to plan this out from the safety of his room. It was quite another to come to the ghost zone to actually act on his feelings, a place where he was not exactly the most beloved individual.
Danny spent the good part of an hour just cluelessly flying from place to place, checking random doors for some kind of sign or hint to where Ember could be. He did manage to stay pretty incognito during all this time. When he did randomly come across passerby ghosts he'd just lay low and stay out of sight. Thankfully he wasn't coming across any ghosts he was actually familiar with like Skulker, Walker, Spectra, or whoever else. The odds of them being willing to tell him where to find Ember were pretty slim.
"Ugh, good grief, I'm starting to feel like we were barely scratching the surface with our mapping out mission," Danny uttered to himself with a groan. Over the last hour he'd covered what felt like twice as much space as he and his friends had mapped out, and he didn't feel any closer to discovering where Ember's realm was.
Danny went on for about another ten minutes trying random doors and still nothing. Coming to the next one he was starting to lose hope.
"Let's see if this one is any different than the other two hundred I've already tried," said Danny lazily gripping the handle and pulling it open.
As soon as the door opened Danny got a big surprise right in his face. A huge gust of icy wind blasted him point blank and knocked him back from the door. Spinning several times Danny reached up to grip his now freezing face and chattering teeth as the door closed back up on it's own.
"Ahhhhhh, oh man, I think that door just gave me a glacial," Danny joked to himself with chattering teeth. Looking at the door he was ready to move on, but suddenly it shot open again and he was greeted by someone he was not in the mood to deal with right now.
"Phantom, have you come to beeee my frieeeend?" said Klemper as he attempted to engulf Danny in a big bear hug. Since Danny wasn't prepared to be ambushed so quickly, he wasn't able to get out of the way in time.
"Oh great, this is just what I needed, to be squeezed to death by a polar bear in pajamas," said Danny trying to push Klemper off of him. "Klemper, let go of me, I'm kind of busy right now and don't have time for this."
Klemper ignored his protest and kept hugging Danny, feeling happy that he had a new friend to keep him company.
"Grrrrrrrr, get...off...ME," said Danny using his hands to fire separate ecto rays while they were being crushed at his side. Klemper was then blasted away from him, giving him back full circulation of his body.
"Why won't you beeeee my frieeeend?" said Klemper pouting as he flew back towards Danny once the ecto rays dissolved.
Danny wasn't in any mood to deal with this and just wanted to move on.
"I'll tell you what Klemper, if you can tell me where to find someone maybe I'll let you be my friend for one day," said Danny moving back and getting ready to fire again if necessary.
Hearing Danny's offer got Klemper extremely excited as his mouth opened joyfully and he started jumping in midair.
"Yes yes yes, anything for my frieeend," said Klemper looking extra giddy.
"Okay then, can you tell me where I can find Ember McLain?" asked Danny, though he wasn't going to get his hopes up. He knew that when he first sent Ember back to the ghost zone he'd dropped her in with Klemper, but the odds that she actually told him her address didn't seem very high.
"Ohhhhh yes, miss Ember with the rock and roll music. She lives that way. I don't know the exact location, but it's in that general direction," said Klemper pointing to his right.
Danny was amazed that Klemper was actually able to help him. Looking in the direction he was pointing didn't really reveal much, but it was at least a start. Unfortunately this info was about to cost him as Klemper once again engulfed Danny in a big bear hug while he wasn't looking.
"Yay yay, I have a new frieeeend," said Klemper in a singing voice while Danny groaned.
"Ugh, ok, um, I guess I'll be your friend for one day. But um, can it be a different day in the future?" asked Danny trying to push himself out of the hug. 'Like maybe a thousand years in the future,' he thought to himself quietly.
"Oh yes frieeend, that'll give me plenty of time to plan out our fun day of activities as friends," said Klemper letting Danny go and jumping in midair again. The pajama ghost was so excited that he immediately took off into the distance, heading for who knows where to plan who knows what.
"Oh boy, I probably bit off more than I can chew with that one," said Danny smoothing his hazmat suit back out.
Taking Klemper's advice Danny then flew off in the direction he had pointed towards. He was still flying blind but at least he was now heading in the right direction, assuming these directions were actually right. Danny flew for another fifteen minutes at a pretty slow pace so he could look at everything he passed. Unfortunately for him the ghost zone seemed to be lacking street signs.
All of a sudden out of nowhere Danny started to hear something that sounded really soothing. Stopping in mid flight he focused his hearing, trying to deduce what that pleasant sound was. It was a beautiful sound that filled the atmosphere with life and positive energy as it grew louder and louder.
"That's a guitar," said Danny as a small smile started to form on his face. "That must be Ember playing on her guitar, and it sounds so beautiful." Not wasting another moment Danny took off in the direction the music was coming from, and as he moved it was getting louder and more pleasant.
It sounded like she was playing a ballad, but he didn't recognize the tune. She must be working on a new song right now or practicing one that he just wasn't familiar with. Danny started putting his ear against each door he passed in an attempt to get the right one. With each door he checked the music was still getting louder, until he came to one door where there wasn't any mistaking that it was the right one. He could hear the music vibrating against the door as he put his ear against it, smiling so big at the thought that the the source of his feelings was right on the other side of this door.
"She's right inside there, I can hear her lightly singing," said Danny to himself smiling as he could very faintly hear someone singing inside along with the guitar playing. There wasn't any mistaking who it was, he'd been listening to that voice almost non stop for weeks now and it was uncanny.
Backing away a bit from the door, Danny now had a bit of a conundrum. Should he actually knock and try to see her? Or should he just leave the note and let her find it? He took out the note and the little gift he brought with him and balled up his fist, lifting it as if he was going to knock. But he wasn't able to do it, he froze and was now feeling so nervous. This was everything he'd been wanting for weeks. To see Ember again and tell her how he felt, but now that he was actually here, he was hesitating. What if she had gotten over what happened that night in the cemetery and would just blast him immediately upon seeing him. What if she didn't feel the same way and laughed at him. What if she were to tell the whole ghost zone and then every ghost would mock him relentlessly about it? More and more possibilities were going through his imagination, and almost all of them ended badly for him.
"I don't know if I can do this, but wow that music sure sounds incredible," said Danny pressing his forehead against the door with his eyes closed.
Danny stayed in that position for a few minutes without moving, just listening. Finally he made up his mind, he was chickening out. He was to nervous to knock and see her. Looking at the note in his hand plus his gift, he instead opted to place them at the foot of her door and leave. Backing away while looking at the note his smile faded a bit, ashamed at himself for being too nervous to talk to her.
"I hope when she finds it she likes what I had to say," said Danny as he turned around to fly off, retracing his steps with the tracker he'd planted so he could find his way back.
There was one thing however that Danny wasn't aware of. He had an audience while he was just outside Ember's realm.

Kitty had been more annoyed with Johnny than usual lately. Ever since he'd been sent back to the ghost zone by that Danny Phantom, all he'd been doing was working on his motorcycle non stop. Whatever that little device was he'd stolen from that ghost hunting family's basement, he was determined to attach it to his bike and make it a new feature.
Fed up with his lack of interest in her, Kitty figured she'd go hang out with her best friend Ember and maybe have a little girl time. Possibly pry some more details out of her on whoever this crush of hers was.
"I still can't believe that Ember of all ghosts actually has the hots for someone, never thought I'd see that day," said Kitty with a smirk. Knowing Ember was head over heels about someone was the juiciest bit of info she'd heard about in a long time.
While flying towards Ember's realm, Kitty was absorbed in her own thought and just floating around some random trees when she saw the absolute last person she expected to see around here.
"Danny Phantom, what the hell is he doing here?" Kitty asked herself quietly narrowing her eyes at the teenage ghost punk.
The white haired ghost kid was flying pretty slowly past several realms, and he seemed like he was looking for something. Curious and seeing an opportunity to get the boy back for what he did to Johnny and stopping her from getting to the human world, Kitty stayed hidden and followed him. As she followed him she realized they were getting close to Ember's realm and she started to hear her guitar playing. The sound she heard didn't sound familiar to her.
"Guess she's working on a new song, I'll make sure to ask about it later after I deal with Phantom here," said Kitty still following Danny.
But suddenly, to her complete surprise, Danny out of nowhere was stopping right at the entrance to Ember's realm. Kitty's tilted her head a bit to the side in confusion, hiding behind another tree off to the side to watch.
"What is he doing at Ember's realm? He better not be here to cause more trouble for her," said Kitty in a whisper. "If he is I'll make sure his fate is sealed with one of my vanishing kisses."
But to her complete shock Danny wasn't doing anything, he just stood there outside Ember's realm and seemed to be listening to her music. But what was even more of a shock was when Danny pulled out what looked like a letter and was preparing to knock. Seeing this almost caused Kitty to shout out to him, but she didn't.
"What? Is he here to see her? What is going on?" Kitty asked herself scratching her head, a million thoughts going through it at the moment.
She kept watching Danny but he wasn't knocking. He just stayed there looking like he was trying to figure out what to do. Eventually after resting his head against the door for several minutes, he left the note at her door and took off.
Kitty waited until he was out of sight before rushing forward to see what he had left. Reaching Ember's door she realized that it was indeed a note but there was something else, something that made her mouth drop all the way down in amazement. Unable to resist the temptation, Kitty gently picked up the note and saw that it was in an unsealed envelope. Too curious to stop herself she took the note out and started reading it. Every word she read made her eyes open wider and wider in amazement. By the time she finished reading she almost dropped the note in shock.
"Danny Phantom has feelings for Ember?" Kitty whispered to herself, staring straight ahead blankly. "This is unbelievable, how did this happen?"
Kitty started to slowly pace back and forth in front of Ember's door, trying to process all of this, when suddenly a thought occurred to her. Stopping in her tracks she looked at Ember's closed door again.
"Could Phantom be the one that Ember is crushing on? Is that why she's been going to the human world so much lately without some kind of scheme? Oh my afterlife," Kitty said in a slightly higher whisper as she looked back down at the note.
Kitty reread Danny's words to Ember and felt blown away by them. The things Danny had written were the exact kinds of things Kitty had always hoped Johnny would say to her. Gently running her hand down Ember's door, Kitty carefully refolded the letter and put it back in the envelope. Setting it back where she picked it up from she decided that Ember needed to see this right away. Preparing to flee, Kitty knocked on Ember's door and took off like a rocket before she could answer the door.
She flew out of there as fast as her body could move, not even risking to look back to see if Ember answered the door. Her mind was still swimming with so many thoughts after what she saw and just read in Danny's note. How he has feelings for her, how he might be the one Ember has been crushing on, the amazing words he said, also rethinking her opinion of him despite what he did to stop her from taking over that girl's body.
'I guess I can't really fault the guy for protecting his sister, isn't that what family is supposed to do for each other,' thought Kitty with a more open mind than she had before. 'Considering he is a hero and clearly a sweet guy, I guess it's a pretty safe bet that he'd be really good to Ember if they got together.'
Kitty was almost back to her own realm that she and Johnny shared when she looked up and saw her boyfriend speeding towards her on his bike. She was a little shocked since she expected he would still be working on it.
"Hey babe, check it out, my motorcycle modifications are done," said Johnny gesturing to his handlebar that now held the little box he'd stolen.
"Oh, ok. So um, how exactly does this thing work?" asked Kitty now distracted from her previous thoughts.
"It's super awesome kitten, with this little device we can now travel to and from the human world whenever and from wherever we want," said Johnny smiling big and running his hand over the box. "It creates portals out of nowhere for a short time. And the best part, these portals aren't attached to any kind of machine so your body will be completely safe to travel through them."
Kitty suddenly got really excited. Johnny had come up with a way for them to go to the human world together without frying her body. This was amazing.
"Johnny that's incredible, I love you so much," said Kitty throwing her arms around her boyfriend's neck as they leaned in for a kiss.
"Yeah, I was actually thinking we could go right now and get some payback on that Phantom kid," said Johnny narrowing his eyes a bit as he smiled.
This snapped Kitty out of her happy mood as her thoughts from the last hour came flooding right back into her mind. She wasn't really so sure she would want to do anything to hurt Danny anymore if Ember liked him. But then again, she didn't have any proof that Danny was the one that Ember had feelings for, just that Danny had feelings for Ember. But that alone had her hesitating. Seeing someone have legit feelings for Ember brought a smile to Kitty's face, something she knew her friend deserved. But should she really get involved in this whole thing right now?
"Okay, yeah, let's go right now, I've been dying to see the human world for so long now," said Kitty hopping on the back of Johnny's bike and putting her arms around his waist.
"Alright baby, next stop, Amity Park," said Johnny revving his motorcycle. With a grip of his handlebar a portal suddenly appeared out of nowhere, letting Johnny rev the gas and take off into the human world.

Ember had been tirelessly working for days now on her new song. It was frustrating her to no end because normally she didn't have any trouble getting the creative juices flowing. But this song in particular she wanted to be the best she'd ever written, and finding the right words was killing her. Or it would of been if she wasn't a ghost.
"Damn it, that still doesn't work," said Ember in frustration, slamming her fist down onto her table. She slammed it so hard the pen flew right out of her hand and towards the ceiling.
Picking up her guitar pick she strummed a few chords on her guitar, sampling a few ideas for the melody. But this was proving to be just as frustrating as the lyrics.
"'I'd have it no other way,' no that's not it. 'I wouldn't have it any other way,' ugh," sang Ember with her beautiful voice filling the room along with her frustrated groans.
Putting her guitar down on the table Ember put her head down on the table as well, needing to give her mind a moment to think some more. But seconds after she put her head down she heard a knock at her door. Picking her head up to look towards the entrance to her realm she got up and started walking, wondering who on Earth was dropping in at this random time.
"This better be important, I'm a little busy doing something I really care about in here," said Ember as she opened the door. But this only added to her frustration as nobody was there. "Really, fake knocking in the ghost zone? What kind of...huh, what's this?" said Ember noticing a note on the floor, along with something else that made her mouth drop a bit.
At first Ember didn't know what to make of someone leaving her a note and a gift, but as soon as she opened the letter and started reading her eyes almost shot right out of her head.
Dear Ember,
First and foremost I want to say how sorry I am the way things ended the last time we saw each other. That is absolutely not what I wanted to happen and I wish I could have stopped it. I had so much more that I wanted to say to you, and I've only thought of more stuff to say to you ever since. I could list them all here but it could probably fill a book. Everything I did learn about you that day made me realize how misunderstood you are. I know I told you that I understood you now because of it, but I don't feel that's enough. I want to know more about you, I can't stop thinking about you and wanting to see you again. I've been listening to your music so much lately and I've come to realize how beautiful your voice is. I know when we first met the circumstances were a little messy, but now that I've actually been able to listen to your music properly I can tell how amazingly talented you are.
Ember's mouth practically dropped to the floor at the words she was reading. Was this actually real? Was someone actually telling her all these absolutely incredible things? Her voice was beautiful? Nobody had ever actually told her that before under free will, not even when she won that talent show.
Not only do I think your voice is beautiful, but so is your guitar playing. And most of all, I think you're beautiful. When I saw your amazing green eyes in a new light they looked like shiny emeralds. I found and kept one of your concert flyers and I can see how happy you look when you're performing in it. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I like you Ember. I really like you and I was hoping that I could see you again soon. I don't know if you could possibly feel the same way about me, but even if the whole ghost zone ends up laughing at me from this I couldn't keep myself from telling you how I feel. I don't know how you'll react to this, but if you're willing to give me a chance I'd really love nothing more than to see you again sometime.
Tears of pure emotion were starting to form in Ember's eyes. About a month ago she didn't think anyone would ever do something nice for her, then she saw Danny reunite her burnt body with her old guitar. Surely that was a fluke and just him being a goody goody hero right? No, apparently that was only the beginning of these new feelings. Now she was actually holding and reading a letter from someone declaring their feelings to her.
I hope you like the flower. I chose a purple rose specifically because of your guitar and what these flowers represent. Purple roses symbolize passion and infatuation, which is exactly what I feel for you. Obviously I don't have any idea what your reaction will be to this, but I'm willing to roll the dice and hope that you'd like to see me again sometime. I guess the ball is in your court from here. Regardless of what you decide, I care about you and want you to be happy.
With all my heart,
Danny
Ember fell to her knees as she reread Danny's name at the bottom over and over again. Her eyes were turning into waterfalls as she was overcome with emotion.
"Danny, he actually likes me and wants to see me again? I can't believe this is happening," Ember whispered to herself out loud as she now looked at the beautiful purple rose in her hand. Bringing it to her face she gave it a sniff, it smelled so amazing. "My first flower gift, I had completely given up on anything like this ever happening."
Ember stayed on her knees staring at the rose and note together for what felt like days. She was so tempted seek him out again and throw her arms around his neck on the spot, but there was something else she felt needed to be done first. After a few more moments she got back to her feet and walked back inside, hugging the note and rose to her chest gently so as not to crumble them. Setting them both down on her table she picked up her pen again, finding new inspiration for her new song.
