Hello guys, here is a little interaction without the books. Like I said, our characters are about to start changing, they can't stay the same if they start reading their mistakes. Parts of the Harry Potter Saga will be quoted.
They all went their separate ways, Remus and Sirius went to the study, Sirius knew he needed to talk to Harry, but he fled upstairs with all the teenagers behind him. Bill had grabbed Fleur, Charlie and Tonks to check out the library, and he hadn't even paid the others any attention. Once they reached the study, Remus closed the door and put on a Silencing Charm.
"He almost died"
"I know"
"You are very calm"
Remus sat down on the couch. –"Someone has to be. You don't look very sane right now; I suggest you say anything you have to say now before we talk to Harry."
"Sane? Sane, my godson almost died, two years in a row he has fought Voldemort, and I wasn't there to help him, YOU weren't there to help him."
Remus felt a pang of guilt, he knew Sirius was right, but they had already had this talk. -" I know, you think I don't feel guilty, you think that every time I hear him feel sad, angry I don't feel sorry that I didn't have the courage to look for him or stay. I already told him, he confessed to me that he was angry with me, which is well within his rights, but fighting over it now I don't think it's worth it. There's too much going on behind the curtain, and Dumbledore doesn't seem to have told us much."
"HA! Dumbledore. The headmaster and I have a pending talk, you've seen how quiet he's been, that's called guilt. Instead of looking for help he was in McGonagall's office smiling, do you know what he's doing Remus, DO YOU KNOW?"
"He's training him." —Remus nodded, he had also noticed.
"The mirror, the cape, the tasks. I hope he didn't plan this too, I don't think Arthur will forgive him for putting his daughter in danger."
"Dumbledore is not evil Sirius"
"No, he's just a manipulator. I know you're defending him not because you love him so much, I know what you owe him, but we Blacks weren't raised to worship the ground he walks on. I CHOSE TOO! and look how he thanked me"
Remus tensed, he knew this fight was about to happen. Sirius had taken the confinement in this house with good will, but Remus knew the damage these walls were doing to him.
"Everyone is mad at him"
Remus nodded. "With him and with Snape, I don't think Severus understands the magnitude of the enemy Augusta can be."
"Which brings us to the next thing. Harry wants to know why we hate each other."
"What are you going to tell him?"
"Me? You mean what we are going to tell him. I'm not proud of what I did, Remus, and I paid for it in the end. My betrayal of you cost me dearly, but Snape is no saint, and our enmity goes beyond the attempt of murder in fifth year."
"Harry is not going to take it well"
"I'd rather he hates me than James, knowing Severus, he will try to make James look like a bastard."
"He was, we all were, but I agree. Snape has no right to speak ill of us when he was as much of a bastard."
"He still is"
Meanwhile, with the teenagers…
Harry ran out of the ballroom as fast as he could, the others following him. Once they reached the bedroom he was sharing with Ron, they sat down.
"Ginny"—it was Fred who spoke first— "The truth is we are sorry for not helping you. We are your brothers, and we didn't realize that…"
"No one is to blame. Who would want their eleven-year-old sister walking behind you all the time? I'm not saying it didn't hurt, of course it did. At home, we are Weasley's always united, but at Hogwarts everyone had someone, and I was alone"
"It also didn't help that you were an embarrassment in front of Harry," –Luna said. They all turned to see her and several laughed. Everyone's laughter sounded strained, but it was what they needed.
"Thanks Luna, you always know what to say"—Ginny said mockingly—"And I'm sorry for that Harry, the crush of a little eleven-year-old girl is something difficult to fight"
Harry smiled at her, but George scoffed.
"You're telling me he's not your crush any more?"
Ron said with annoyance—"Now is Michael Corner"
Ginny took courage. —"Michael is cute, but a girl never forgets her first crush. Harry is better looking, not that it matters, Harry prefers dark haired girls." — Ginny said, trying not to blush.
The siblings laughed out loud and Hermione covered her mouth to keep from laughing. Harry blushed, looking away.
"Who is this dark haired girl?"
"Cho Chang"— Neville said to everyone's surprise— "What I have eyes too."
"Ahh!"-Luna said—"You are too kind for her."
Hermione frowned. —" What do you mean?"
"Harry is too cute and kind for Cho. She's always crying and throwing tantrums. Even before Cedric, but now even more so. Her grief and her personality collided very badly."
Everyone turned to look at Harry, but he only saw Luna with a frown, in the few weeks he's known Luna she never spoke ill of no one. What did that say of Cho— "I'll take it into account, Luna The truth is that I just like her, I don't know much about her other than she's in Ravenclaw, and she plays Quidditch"
Luna smiled at him and nodded.
"Well now that we're talking about love, tell us Neville, what's going on between you and Susan Bones or is it Hannah Abbott?" -Fred said.
Neville blushed and everyone started whistling and laughing…
….
During lunch…
"So, what are we going to do?"
"To continue reading, obviously" -Snape said dryly
"No, I have questions"-Amelia said.
"I agree with Professor Snape. We can't waste time"
"Now you're in a hurry. A while ago you were worried about Ginny. Maybe she doesn't want to continue reading today"—Charlie told Percy
"Sadly, Miss Weasley should put aside her discomfort; we can't waste any more time."
They all glared at Snape. Augusta was the one who spoke—"I don't want to continue reading, I don't think I can concentrate, as well as Amelia, I also have questions"
Sirius told Kreacher to clear the table, and ordered a drink.
Remus glared at him.
"It's my second drink of the day, Remus. Relax"
Remus shook his head and asked Kreacher to make tea and put out cake. To his surprise, the elf complied. It seemed that what Harry had told him had worked. Still, they would have to keep an eye on him.
Everyone got something to drink; some had wine, others water, tea, and those who knew it would be a difficult conversation, like Sirius, had Firewhisky.
Dumbledore sighed, Minerva had told him this was going to happen, and he didn't like not having control of the situation. –"What kind of questions?
Amelia was the one who started the conversation with a pile of scrolls in front of her.
"To begin with, I would like to know why you have never contacted the Aurors."
Dumbledore clasped his hands in front of him. —"Hogwarts is not in conjunction with the Ministry, and yet I do what is necessary so that the Minister knows what is going on."
"The minister is that Dumbledore, the Minister. He's a politician. I understand you didn't want to involve Richardson. I'm sure he was in everyone's pocket, but you had Moody, especially for this incident with the chamber."
"There is a limit, Amelia I can't dispose of the Aurors just because, if I inform Fudge he decides what to do, if I talk to the Aurors more people who have nothing to do with it will get involved. I can't let that much get in the way of Hogwarts, look what Lucius Malfoy did."
"That's no excuse, Dumbledore. Our children's lives were at risk, to hell with whoever got involve, what was the point of Fudge always knowing anyway?"
"I wanted to prepare him for the return of Voldemort, something that we knew was going to happen, and he would never accept"
"A lot of preparation and it was useless. I can't do anything for these events as they already happened but let it be clear that you and Fudge, neither, knew what the hell to do and people got hurt"
Several internally nodded, Sirius and Ginny being the only ones who nodded for everyone to see.
"Now me "—Augusta said.—"This man, why is he still teaching? Surely you can have him doing something else than being with Children he certainly doesn't like."
Snape glared at her and was about to defend himself when Dumbledore in his voice as head of the Order said— "Severus continues to teach because he must stay in the castle, his life and ours depends on it. Severus has promised to modify his attitude towards certain students, but we can all understand that he has a role to play."
"Role, spy or actor doesn't interest me. He attacks my grandson like it is a game to him. This behaviour better change in the following books, or I will be giving you and him Hell."
"He's been behaving like this for years. Who are these certain students?"—Andromeda said, agreeing with Augusta, there was something in Snape that she didn't like.
"Certain students are Harry, his friends and all those he thinks insufficient"— Sirius replied to Andromeda
"His performance and your laziness have been affecting the Aurors academy for years; nobody manages to pass the N.E.W.T.S of potions because Snape does not teach as he should"
"The ones who make it to my N.E.W.T.S class are the best of each year."
Amelia was rolling her eyes
Harry wanted to agree to that. The truth is that he was not very good at potions, but that didn't make him horrible at it, if Snape didn't yell and make him feel like shit, then he was sure he could get in E. And many more could at least pass it.
Molly shook her head—"this is turning into an Order meeting."
Alastor tapped his cane—"With all due respect, Molly, the Order is one thing and this situation is another. I think the time has come for you to take hold of that fear and control it because your kids are not children and war does not forgive. All of us here can read between the lines. The war is coming and if we were given this opportunity it is because we lose. All of us here may die tomorrow, and I am sure that many of these children would rather go down fighting than hiding."
Of course, and yes, were heard around the room.
Molly didn't say anything, but everyone noticed her eyes fill with tears.
"And since we're here, and it looks like Amelia is going to want to do a recap of every book, which sounds good to me. I have another concern, Dumbledore, what are you doing in relation to the Jr. Death Eaters, Draco Malfoy is a problem that can become a threat. And just like him, you have several more."
"There is no proof that any of them are Death Eaters."
"There has to be rumours"—it was Sirius who spoke—"there were when we attended. Mulciber, Macnier, Rosier, Michaelson, Lestrange, Burke, Snape. It wasn't a secret…"
Snape look at him with distaste.—"Is that why you all proclaimed yourself the defenders, for the rumours…"
Sirius didn't look at him—"My brother took the mark at 16 his last year, he took it as a death eater. I know it was more than rumours."—
The teenagers that didn't know that, looked at Sirius in question, but he shook his head; it wasn't the moment to speak about his brother.
"Probably not yet, since he just returned and all of them are waiting for their children to near the coming of age"
"So, it's just a matter of time"
"And that is why we need to plan something for them. I don't believe all want to be death eaters but Draco Malfoy attitude does concern me, a snake strikes when she feels cornered and Voldemort is parading in his sitting room, he won't have many options"
It was Kingsley who was taking notes of everything they were discussing.—"But what exactly could we do? The only thing that occurs to me is change the activities within the school, separate them from their parents believe, the question is Do we have enough time?"
Nobody knew what to say. McGonagall liked the idea of changing things about the school, that hasn't been possible, but she didn't know if that would make a difference. —"The only thing we can do for now is rest, and we shall continue tomorrow with the third book, I'm sure it will be quite emotional."—She said staring at the Marauders.
"Yes, I agree, these books have given us much to think"—Dumbledore said. Everyone stared at him expecting him to continue, but he just sat there pleasantly.
"Right, just one more question."-Bill said—"Where is the Diary?"
"I have it in my office. Why?"
"I will need to see it, once this is over. Right now I will research the Black Library, but I might need to check the Hogwarts Library."
Dumbledore nodded at Bill, but he knew he would find nothing in Hogwarts.—"Very well, once we are out, I shall bring it here."
"Right, for now I need some help. If you need us, Fleur, Charlie, Tonks and Kingsley will be in the library"—
With that, everyone started to stand up.
"Come on pup, we need to talk"—Sirius said to Harry. Remus was already walking to the study.
The three of them walked into the study. Remus was already sitting down, Harry had no idea what they were going to talk about, and Sirius was dreading the whole situation.
"Very well Harry I think you have questions, and we have something to discuss, First what the hell? You have no self-preservation?" — Sirius demanded sitting down.
"Who was going to do any of it, Sirius? McGonagall didn't believe me, and Dumbledore wasn't even around. I wasn't going to let her die or let him come back. Not that it matters now"
Remus sighed—"Harry, you do understand what Dumbledore been doing?"
"Preparing me for what happened this summer, I suppose"
"Exactly, it's wrong, he could have done it in many ways, or both of you together. But he's put the weight of the world on you, you don't have to do this alone, you do know that"
Harry shook his head; he wanted to disagree with that. He knows very well from first year that his situation with Voldemort was only for him.— "The last thing I want is more people in danger, look what happened with Hermione, she was attacked because she is my friend."
Remus disagreed. "Harry, even if you're the only one who has to fight him, it doesn't mean you have to do it alone.
"Remus is right, pup. This fight is not just yours; it is for all those who want to be free. Something that Dumbledore unfortunately has not taught you."
"I think the one who's mad at Dumbledore is you, padfoot."
"Oh, I am furious with Dumbledore. I have kept silent because I have no one to support me."
"That is not true"
"Shut up, you've sold your soul to him again. I told you werewolves are a waste of time. Last time, you arrived almost lifeless."
Remus pressed his lips together. — "And who the hell is going to do it then?"
Harry's eyes widened. He hadn't seen them that much together, they had in interesting dynamic.
"No one, Remus, no one. Dumbledore always asks for more than we can give, it took me 13 years in hell itself to realize it. It's time for you to do the same, and you to"—Sirius pointed at Harry. —"There are too many things that you don't know because it was Dumbledore who made those decisions for you. And to hell with whoever tells me I sound crazy" –He looked at Remus with an angry face, expecting he would contradict him.
But Remus didn't. Since Arthurs almost death, Remus was starting to have doubts.
–"I'm not going to contradict you; Dumbledore didn't have the right to make many decisions regarding Harry. You weren't there, I failed him, and many more aren't even in this world any more. As Amelia said, we can't do anything because all that has already happened, but it is difficult to go against the word of the man who gave you an opportunity to have a life"
Sirius nodded, he couldn't fight Remus over that.
Sirius stirred as if he were padfoot. —"We're not telling you this to stop you from trusting the man Harry, just to make you realize there is a different Dumbledore than the Headmaster of Hogwarts. Let's leave Dumbledore aside, what are those questions you have."
Harry thought, what was it he wanted to ask? He had many questions floating around in his head. -"You speak French?"
Remus burst out laughing.
Sirius looked at him with a 'really?' face.
"Yes, it is tradition for purebloods or heirs."
"Rather for the rich."—Remus told him
"Yes, yes. We have to learn another language; they teach us all kinds of manners from a young age. Like walking, talking, eating. Managing the house, managing politics, etc etc etc…"
"Dad knew all this?" —Harry said nervously, he had no idea how to do this. It's not that he didn't have manners, but no one had told him he was somehow important. Sirius smiled sympathetically at him.
"Yes, your dad spoke Italian. Remus here actually speaks several languages as well."
Remus rolled his eyes—"I had to learn, but I do speak Spanish. Hola"—Harry waved, but his smile was one of nerves.
"Don't worry, Harry, we will help you"
"What I don't understand is why no one told me. I always assumed that I was just the boy who lived. The truth is that I never asked about… my family"—Harry said, swallowing bitterly. Why hadn't he ever questioned who he was?
"You don't have to feel guilty. You haven't had an easy life. OK, look… a little bit about who you are. The reason you are my heir is that you have Black blood.
Harry paid attention as Sirius picked him up and took him to the Black family tree. With Remus behind them, the tree was in the room next to the study.— "I hate this thing. OK look, I guess you know who Phineas Nigellus is."
Harry nodded.
"Okay, before Phineas there was the eldest son named Sirius who died, so my beloved grandfather became heir and married Ursula Flint."—Harry frowned.
"They had five children Sirius his heir who married Hesper Gump, Phineas who was banished because he supported Muggles. Cynus who married Violet Bulstrode, Belvina who married Herbert Burke and Arcturus who married Lysander Yaxley."
Harry nodded and told Sirius to continue.
"The oldest of Sirius and Herpes is my grandfather Arcturus, he had a Son, my father Orion. Sirius' brother Cygnus had a son name Pollux and a daughter named Dorea. Pollux married Irma Crabbe, and they had a daughter named Walburga."
"Your parents are cousins then"
"Oui, that's why so much madness. Pollux sister Dorea, her full name was Dorea Euphemia Black"
"My grandmother!"-
"That's right, your grandmother was my mother's aunt, my mother was your father's cousin, your father was my uncle and you and I are cousins or something like that."
"Not confusing at all" -Remus chuckled. He was staring at all the other names in the tapestry. He hadn't ventured around the house much, since many things in here could kill him.
Harry looked at the tapestry. -"What do the burned names mean?"
"Ah, those are the ones that damaged the family's reputation"—Sirius said while pointing one by one.—"Here was Grandfather Phineas' sister, Isla Black, she married a muggle, the son Phineas who was banished because he supported muggles, it is rumoured that he went to live with Aunt Isla, although nobody knows what happened to them. This one here was Marius Black, brother of Pollux and Dorea, he was born Squib. Your grandmother still communicated with him, though he became bitter and walked away from the magical world. Cedrella Black was your grandmother's cousin. She married Septimus Weasley, Arthur's father. Even though they were pure bloods, my grandfather Sirius considered it a disgrace. This here is my uncle Alphard, my mother's brother, Alphard never fully supported the family's beliefs and when my mother banished me, he would give me money, mom found out and forced my father to banish him, when he died he left me everything. This here is me, mom banish me after I refuse to join the death eaters, and this last one is Andromeda, she married Ted and my uncle Cygnus banished her, I still remember that day. Andy was my uncle's favourite; he almost set the house on fire when he did it. Mom hugged him and told him that children like those deserved to die."
"I believe you, given the fact that she nearly killed you when it was your turn."—Remus said sadly, already leaving the room, Sirius and Harry following.
"The potters have something like this?"
"Yes, but your tapestry is in Potter manor. And it updates itself; here the heir must update it."
"I recognized a name on your tapestry. Well two, Narcissa is Draco's mother? And Bellatrix, she was the one who attacked Neville's parents."
"That's right, Bella was my mom's favourite, they were equally crazy and Narcissa was always in love with Lucius"
"All purebloods are connected"-Remus told him-" For that reason, many go crazy or find it difficult to breed. Incest has a price."
"That and all the problems that every family brings with them. Speaking of problems, Harry, what do you know about oaths, magical vows and debts?"
"I read that magical oaths are made to verify certain situations, and they are used in the Wizengamont. They are sworn by your magic, right?"
Remus immediately knew what Sirius was talking about, even though he never thought Sirius was going to make a big deal out of it. —"That's right, oaths are made, for example, when you want someone to believe you or want to settle a debt. It is preferable not to do them. The vows are more direct and can cost you your life. Like the unbreakable vow where you swear to do what someone else can't or to keep a secret."
Sirius nodded—"And the debts are of Honour. For example, as Arthur mentioned, the Weasley's lost a debt of honour, and they lost more than their fortune. They lost credibility as a wizarding family."
Harry nodded—"What does that have to do with anything?"
"The Weasley's owe you a debt of life"
"Of course not!" —Harry replied, he didn't want anyone to owe him anything, let alone the Weasley's. Harry was looking at his godfather with denial.
"You saved Ginny's life, Harry, you almost died trying."
"That doesn't mean that I want them to owe me."
"Nobody is saying that you are going to charge them, but it is important that you know."
"So they have been generous to me because they owe me something"-Harry frowned
"No, they have been generous with you because they are good people, but Arthur knows very well that he owes you. When we read the part where you almost died, he was staring at you, and then he looked at me, he knew I would understand."
Harry kept shaking his head. –"What happens if I want to collect it?"
"You can ask them for anything you want, all of their money, their loyalty, business connection, politics, Ginny's hand. I know you don't want to collect them, butI want you to give me permission to mention it."
"Why?"
Remus shook his head. –"To piss off Dumbledore, If the Weasley's swear allegiance to you, they'll move according to what you decide. Very Slytherin of you, Sirius."
Harry glared at the two of them. –"You're using me for a power move."
"Yes, but you don't have to decide right now. We've got 5 books to read."
Harry sighed—"Remus is right, that's very Slytherin of you."
"I was raised by them."
Remus decided to suggest what he had been thinking.- "Before we talk about what Sirius is trying not to talk about."—Sirius ignored the look of annoyance the other sent him. -"Harry, you're too small."
Harry made a face –"Thanks Remus"
"You're welcome, but I'm serious."—He glared at Sirius who was about to interrupt him —"You're malnourished, you shouldn't be so skinny. Believe me; I know what it's like to be without food. we have a healer in the house, Andromeda, I'd like you to give us permission for her to check you, we have several potions that Sirius has finished drinking, and we have enough potion ingredients if you need more. Unfortunately, we will have to tell Snape."
Sirius liked the idea immediately. Before Harry could say no, he spoke-"That's a good idea, Andy can tell us what he needs, so when we get out of here you can take him to St Mungo's in case Andy couldn't help. We'll get him strong and healthy right away, being malnourished also affects your magic"-he said looking at the boy.
Harry thought maybe that was why he had never grown much. –"Do we really have to tell Snape?"
"Yes, the potions were made for Sirius, you don't have the same problems, and it's likely that Snape will have to make others for you."
Harry thought about it, he didn't want the others to find out how badly the Dursley's had left him, but it would be nice to get a little taller, maybe get a little stronger in terms of his magic.—"Okay, but I don't want the others to find out, obviously they will realize that I'm taking potions, but they don't need to know everything, they have enough with everything we're reading. And make sure that Snape doesn't say anything"
"Perfect prongslet"
"What is a prongslet?"
"You, that's what your dad used to call you, you know he was prongs, and you're mini prongs. Your mom didn't like that name, she called you Harry-bear"
Harry smiled at that-"And you called me, Cub and pup"-
Remus smirked—"That's right we fought a lot of times over how to call you, even though your mom said she was the one that pushed you out of her so it was her decision, each one of us had a nickname."
They were silent for a moment until Harry saw them exchange glances.
"Are you going to tell me what Sirius doesn't want to talk about, is it about Voldemort?"
"No, Harry, we'll talk about Voldemort, but not yet. Remus and I decided to tell you at the end of the fourth book when he returns, that way everything will make more sense."
Harry frowned, the truth is that he wanted to know now, but he thought better of it, he still had to read the third book and there were more things that were going to be difficult for him to assimilate, so he just nodded.
"We're going to talk to you about why Snape hates us, or rather, why we hate each other."
Harry could see that Sirius was having a hard time speaking-"Is it bad?"
"Yes, because well I made a mistake but Snape wasn't a saint either"
Harry was confused.
Remus was the one to speak-"I'll talk about it, Sirius, you add what you remember. Harry, we met on the train, we also met your mum and Snape that same day. The feud with James and Snape started from there. We were chatting when Lily and Snape walked in; James was always a ball of energy, talkative and asked a lot of questions. He asked us which house we wanted to enter. Peter immediately said Hufflepuff because his mom had been one, I said Ravenclaw because my dad had been one, and Sirius didn't say anything because he didn't want to mention his family, James said he wanted to be in Gryffindor because it was the house of the brave and all the potters had been Gryffindor. Your mom immediately began to say that she had read everything about the house and that maybe she would go to Ravenclaw, but she wanted to stay with Sev."
Harry made a face at that, he still couldn't process his mom and Snape being friends.
Sirius continued—And Snape said that he wanted to go to Slytherin because it was the best house. James laughed and said that only the elitists who thought were better wanted to go to that house, I opened my mouth and said only idiots with a complex ended up there and that maybe I wanted to be a Gryffindor too. Snape got angry and said that we didn't know anything about Slytherin. To which I told him that I had an idea since my family was all Slytherin, and James replied that his mother had told him that, and she had been a Slytherin."
"My grandmother was a Slytherin?"
"I was the first Black to not get into that house, Harry. Your grandmother didn't want James to be a Slytherin; she knew he wasn't going to fit in with anyone."
"By this time the argument had already turned into a fight, your mom was scolding them for swearing and Peter and I were panicking. Lily said she didn't know which House she wanted to enter and she knew she wouldn't decide, so there was no point in fighting. But Snape told her that she had better get into Slytherin."
Sirius rolled his eyes at that. –"I laughed and told her that she wouldn't get into Slytherin, that people like her didn't get into that house, and they would eat her alive if she did. Lily asked what I was talking about, and I told her to ask her greasy friend, your dad laughed and called him Snivellus. Your mom obviously defended him; she got up and pulled him out of the compartment."
"Eleven-year-olds being rude. It's nothing new, Ron was rude to Hermione, we got better."
Remus sighed, "But we didn't. I'll simplify it. The marauders were Severus Snape's Bully's. Snape got a group of friends where he was the weak link, ours was Peter. The first two years it wasn't a big deal what we did to each other, we said mean comments, we hid our homework, we made each other trip, ruin our potions and sometime the occasional jinx"
"Similar to what Draco does to Neville."
"So you guys were idiots with Snape"—Harry said, pressing his lips.
"Yes,"— they both said. Harry didn't sound angry, and you could see he was trying to understand
-"When did everything change?"—
"When we became hormonal teenagers."
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"Everything, when we reached the third year, friendships were already cemented, Snape's group consisted of what are now Death Eaters. Snape made friends with the boys I was supposed to be friends with. They all knew my family, they all knew that my family hated me, and so did Snape. he started using that against me."
"I still don't understand why you guys hated him, why he hates you? I know why I hate Draco, because he's rude, petulant because he thinks he's better than everyone, and obviously I know he's not above hurting someone. Are you telling me that you guys were just like him?
"Yes and no"
"It's either yes or no, it can't be both"-
Remus looked at Sirius, Sirius was making a panicked face, and he knew that it wasn't going to be easy for him to see Harry angry, much less that the anger was directed at him.
"Look Harry"—said Sirius—"I know you won't like what we're going to tell you but try not to get so angry"
Harry got up and looked at him doubtfully. -"So you were, you tormented him!"
"Yes, Snape was the weak link in his group of friends, and we took advantage of it. Our weak link was Peter, but we always had his back, Snape's group of friends always fend for themselves"
"And look how it went"—Spit Sirius.
"Shut up padfoot, it didn't go better for us"
Sirius gave him an ugly look.
"Why did they treat him badly? I'm trying to understand, because I don't want to think about my father like a lot of the children who tormented me." –Remus and Sirius flinched at his words.
Sirius was the one who spoke with an uncertain tone.
"Because Snape is not a good person Harry, he may not be a bloody freak like most of those in Azkaban, but that cute mark on his arm is earned. And at thirteen he was just as disgusting; he liked to get into what was none of his business. Your mother was blind, she would get angry, and she would run like a fool to defend him, it didn't matter that I, that Remus that your father that Marlene told her that her friend wasn't a good person, she didn't want to accept it. You know how many times we heard Mulciber or Rosier, making fun of your mom, talking about her as something like property. Snape never defended her; he either kept quiet or smiled that smug smile of his. He didn't defend his friend and when she turned around he would join the taunting of other students."
Remus continued with a more neutral tone. –"Your dad became very popular. He thought too much of himself and faltered through the school like he owned it. Many hated your father because he was competition. When we said Snape hated him because of jealousy, it's true, James was everything Snape wasn't, and he hated it. Especially because your mom also started noticing James."
"So?"
"Think Harry, a pretty girl is your only friend, she shows you kindness…"
"So Snape fancy mom"
Remus and Sirius shared a look. –"Snape loved your mom."
"And my mom?"
"She loved him, yes, but as a brother. He was her only connection with the person she was, that's why she had a hard time letting go of him, and obviously nobody wants to see their best friend get lost in dark magic."
"Things got worse when we started to get into everyone's personal life. They knew the problems with my family because of my brother Regulus, who had joined them when he started Hogwarts; I took revenge by taking a few Hogsmeade dates from Mulciber, attacking their families, taunting my brother."
"Troubles were what you brought, and several broken noses."
"We fought with them in the corridors, and when we weren't insulting each other or occasional blows, we would throw hexes that sent us with Pomfrey, when that didn't work we went with pranks, which usually humiliated Snape. We called him greasy every time we saw him."
"Did he retaliate?"-Harry asked.
"Sometimes, we went for humiliation he went for pain, He began to spy on us, and obviously we couldn't let that happen, Remus had a secret and Snape was already beginning to suspect. He started planning pranks on us or do things and blame them on us, several times he succeeded and Minerva would punish us. "
"Things turned darker when the attacks against muggles started showing up in the paper. By then it was fourth year Sirius, Marlene, James, Frank, they knew some names on the other side. The word mudblood and filthy blood started to spread around. Mulciber and Rosier were the first one on the rumours of death eaters"
"Snape and his group of friends became that one thing your dad and I hated the most, Idiots who liked dark magic. The school slowly started to divide itself between light and dark."
Harry stopped them. All that time he had been looking at the floor with a frown. "Let me see if I understand. At first, it was all a children's feud, and then it turned into a battle to prove who was better. Snape hated dad because dad was everything he would never be, and he knew that there was a possibility of losing mom against dad."
"Yes, but the only one who felt threatened was Snape, your dad never saw Snape as competition. Your dad's anger at Lily and Snape's friendship was that she didn't want to see what was so clearly in front of her, and that that put her in danger."
"Especially when the attacks against the students started, the first attack happened in fifth year; your mom and a sixth year prefect found a second yer tied upside down in a classroom. Marlene told her it was obvious who it was, and she yelled that it wasn't Snape, to which your dad said maybe not, but it was his friends, you think he doesn't know or worse that he wasn't there and didn't do anything, you think he's going to defend you, if it happens to you"
"Was it them?"
"Yes"
"What was the most humiliating thing dad ever did to Snape?"
Sirius took a deep breath. "We can show you. Kreacher!"
The elf appeared.-"Master Sirius, sir,"
"Bring me the pensive, please."
You have one? I thought they were hard to get.
"They are, and expensive, but this one belonged to my grandfather, it's old you can't see many memories but for the moment it will do."
Once Kreacher brought the Thinker, Sirius put the memory inside. –"Don't think badly of your father"
Harry looked at him startled, and noted that Sirius looked sad. Harry nodded.
"Wait"—Remus said—"Harry what you are about to see, is the beginning of a few weeks of bad decisions, this is the reason Snape hated James, but this is where Snape spoiled the friendship with your mother, and why Sirius and Snape hate each other."
Harry felt as if he had stones in his stomach and swallowed faintly, and went into the pensive.
"Did you like question ten, Moony?" asked Sirius as they emerged into the entrance hall.
"Loved it," said Lupin briskly. " 'Give five signs that identify the werewolf.' Excellent question."
"D'you think you managed to get all the signs?" said James in tones of mock concern.
"Think I did," said Lupin seriously, as they joined the crowd thronging around the front doors eager to get out into the sunlit grounds.
"One: He's sitting on my chair. Two: He's wearing my clothes. Three:
His name's Remus Lupin . . ."
Wormtail was the only one who didn't laugh.
"I got the snout shape, the pupils of the eyes, and the tufted tail," he said anxiously, "but I couldn't think what else —"
"How thick are you, Wormtail?" said James impatiently. "You run round with a werewolf once a month —"
"Keep your voice down," implored Lupin.
Harry looked anxiously behind him again. Snape remained close by, still buried in his examination questions;
"You weren't being very subtle"
"Young and stupid prongslet"—Sirius said looking at him closely.
Harry managed to maintain a close watch on James and the others.
"Well, I thought that paper was a piece of cake," he heard Sirius say. "I'll be surprised if I don't get Outstanding on it at least."
"Me too," said James. He put his hand in his pocket and took out a struggling Golden Snitch.
"Where'd you get that?"
"Nicked it," said James casually. He started playing with the Snitch, allowing it to fly as much as a foot away and seizing it again; his reflexes were excellent. Wormtail watched him in awe.
They stopped in the shade of the very same beech tree on the edge of the lake where Harry, Ron, and Hermione had spent a Sunday finishing their homework, and threw themselves down on the grass.
Snape had settled himself on the grass in the dense shadows of a clump of bushes. He was as deeply immersed in the O.W.L. paper as ever, which left Harry free to sit down on the grass between the beech and the bushes and watch the foursome under the tree
Lupin had pulled out a book and was reading. Sirius stared around at the students milling over the grass, looking rather haughty and bored, but very handsomely so. James was still playing with the Snitch, letting it zoom farther and farther away, almost escaping but always grabbed at the last second. Wormtail was watching him with his mouth open. Every time James made a particularly difficult catch,
Harry noticed his father had a habit of rumpling up his hair as though to make sure it did not get too tidy, and also that he kept looking over at the girls by the water's edge.
"Put that away, will you?" said Sirius finally, as James made a fine catch and Wormtail let out a cheer. "Before Wormtail wets himself from excitement."
Wormtail turned slightly pink but James grinned.
"If it bothers you," he said, stuffing the Snitch back in his pocket.
Harry had the distinct impression that Sirius was the only one for whom James would have stopped showing off.
"I'm bored," said Sirius. "Wish it was full moon."
"You might," said Lupin darkly from behind his book. "We've still got Transfiguration, if you're bored you could test me. . . . Here." He held out his book.
Sirius snorted. "I don't need to look at that rubbish, I know it all."
"This'll liven you up, Padfoot," said James quietly. "Look who it is. . . ."
Sirius's head turned. He had become very still, like a dog that has scented a rabbit.
"Excellent," he said softly. "Snivellus."
Harry turned to see what Sirius was looking at.
Snape was on his feet again, and was stowing the O.W.L. paper in his bag. As he emerged from the shadows of the bushes and set off across the grass, Sirius and James stood up. Lupin and Wormtail remained sitting: Lupin was still staring down at his book, though his eyes were not moving and a faint frown line had appeared between his eyebrows. Wormtail was looking from Sirius and James to Snape with a look of avid anticipation on his face.
"All right, Snivellus?" said James loudly.
Snape reacted so fast it was as though he had been expecting an attack: Dropping his bag, he plunged his hand inside his robes, and his wand was halfway into the air when James shouted, "Expelliarmus!"
Snape's wand flew twelve feet into the air and fell with a little thud in the grass behind him. Sirius let out a bark of laughter.
"Impedimenta!" he said, pointing his wand at Snape, who was knocked off his feet, halfway through a dive toward his own fallen wand.
Students all around had turned to watch. Some of them had gotten to their feet and were edging nearer to watch. Some looked apprehensive, others entertained.
Snape lay panting on the ground. James and Sirius advanced on him, wands up, James glancing over his shoulder at the girls at the water's edge as he went. Wormtail was on his feet now, watching hungrily, edging around Lupin to get a clearer view.
"How'd the exam go, Snivelly?" said James.
"I was watching him, his nose was touching the parchment," said Sirius viciously. "There'll be great grease marks all over it, they won't be able to read a word."
Several people watching laughed; Snape was clearly unpopular.
Wormtail sniggered shrilly. Snape was trying to get up, but the jinx was still operating on him; he was struggling, as though bound by invisible ropes.
"You — wait," he panted, staring up at James with an expression of purest loathing. "You — wait. . . ."
"Wait for what?" said Sirius coolly. "What're you going to do, Snivelly, wipe your nose on us?"
Snape let out a stream of mixed swearwords and hexes, but his wand being ten feet away, nothing happened.
"Wash out your mouth," said James coldly. "Scourgify!"
Pink soap bubbles streamed from Snape's mouth at once; the froth was covering his lips, making him gag, choking him —
"Leave him ALONE!"
James and Sirius looked around. James's free hand jumped to his hair again.
It was one of the girls from the lake edge. She had thick, dark red hair that fell to her shoulders and startlingly green almond-shaped eyes — Harry's eyes.
Harry's mother . . .
"All right, Evans?" said James, and the tone of his voice was suddenly pleasant, deeper, more mature.
"Leave him alone," Lily repeated. She was looking at James with every sign of great dislike. "What's he done to you?"
"Well," said James, appearing to deliberate the point, "it's more the fact that he exists, if you know what I mean. . . ."
Many of the surrounding watchers laughed, Sirius and Wormtail included, but Lupin, still apparently intent on his book, didn't, and neither did Lily.
"You think you're funny," she said coldly. "But you're just an arrogant, bullying toerag, Potter. Leave him alone."
"I will if you go out with me, Evans," said James quickly. "Go on
. . . Go out with me, and I'll never lay a wand on old Snivelly again."
Behind him, the Impediment Jinx was wearing off. Snape was beginning to inch toward his fallen wand, spitting out soapsuds as he crawled. "I wouldn't go out with you if it was a choice between you and the giant squid," said Lily.
"Bad luck, Prongs," said Sirius briskly, turning back to Snape. "OY!"
But too late; Snape had directed his wand straight at James; there was a flash of light and a gash appeared on the side of James's face, spattering his robes with blood. James whirled about; a second flash of light later, Snape was hanging upside down in the air, his robes falling over his head to reveal skinny, pallid legs and a pair of graying underpants.
Many people in the small crowd watching cheered. Sirius, James, and Wormtail roared with laughter.
Lily, whose furious expression had twitched for an instant as though she was going to smile, said, "Let him down!"
"Certainly," said James and he jerked his wand upward. Snape fell into a crumpled heap on the ground. Disentangling himself from his robes, he got quickly to his feet, wand up, but Sirius said, "Petrificus
Totalus!" and Snape keeled over again at once, rigid as a board.
"LEAVE HIM ALONE!" Lily shouted. She had her own wand out now. James and Sirius eyed it warily.
"Ah, Evans, don't make me hex you," said James earnestly.
Harry pouted-"Would he have done it?"
"No, it was normally your mom who hex us"
"Take the curse off him, then!"
James sighed deeply, then turned to Snape and muttered the countercurse.
"There you go," he said, as Snape struggled to his feet again, "you're lucky Evans was here, Snivellus —"
"I don't need help from filthy little Mudbloods like her!"
Harry turned to Remus and Sirius in surprise. "He dared...he said that to his friend. I would never dare say something like that to Hermione."
"They were already fighting, so I think she was expecting something but not this"—Remus pointed at the scene.
Lily blinked. "Fine," she said coolly. "I won't bother in future. And
I'd wash your pants if I were you, Snivellus."
"Apologize to Evans!" James roared at Snape, his wand pointed threateningly at him.
"I don't want you to make him apologize," Lily shouted, rounding on James. "You're as bad as he is. . . ."
"What?" yelped James. "I'd NEVER call you a — you-know-what!"
"Messing up your hair because you think it looks cool to look like you've just got off your broomstick, showing off with that stupid
Snitch, walking down corridors and hexing anyone who annoys you just because you can — I'm surprised your broomstick can get off the ground with that fat head on it. You make me SICK."
She turned on her heel and hurried away.
"Evans!" James shouted after her, "Hey, EVANS!"
But she didn't look back. "What is it with her?" said James, trying and failing to look as though this was a throwaway question of no real importance to him.
"Reading between the lines, I'd say she thinks you're a bit conceited, mate," said Sirius.
"Right," said James, who looked furious now, "right —"
There was another flash of light, and Snape was once again hanging upside down in the air.
"Who wants to see me take off Snivelly's pants?"
But whether James really did take off Snape's pants, but Harry never found out…
Because, he decided he had seen enough.
He snapped out of the memory, Remus and Sirius following him. "Harry…"— Sirius told him, but Harry shook his head and ran out of the study.
Sirius wanted to follow him, but Remus stopped him. — "Let him go. He has a right to be angry, let him calm down, he'll come back."
"No, I don't want him to think badly of James, we were idiots, but this wasn't always James, he was…" -Sirius said, clenching his hands into fists
"I know, and Harry will know too, but at the moment he's upset. Let him think."
…
Harry ran out the study, angry tears in his eyes. He was so angry he didn't even see where he was going. He walked into a room with beds and slammed the door, that he was sure was heard all over the house. He started kicking the door, and then he couldn't help himself, he threw a cot around.
"Hey, that's my bed"—
Harry turned around so fast with his wand in hand.
"Ginny! What are you doing here?"
"I sleep here"
Harry turned to look around and realized he got the wrong room. He turned to look at Ginny, who was sitting on the window seat, reading a book.
"I…I…"
"You're not OK, what happened"
Harry shook his head—"Where is everyone"—He asked, trying to calm down his heart.
"Hermione and Ron are helping out in the library; the adults are talking in various parts of the house. What happened Harry?"
"Nothing"-
Ginny nodded understandingly. -"OKAY"
Harry nodded as well and sat down on a bed. He needed to understand, he had always felt pride and a warm feeling when they told him he looked like his father, but now he felt empty and disappointed, he understood why they hated Snape. He hated him two but he couldn't imagine doing five years of torment to someone.
"My dad..."
Ginny jumped, she didn't think he was going to speak.
"I saw my dad humiliating Snape. Sirius and Remus were talking to me…no, they were confessing the truth of their hatred for each other.
Ginny made a knowing face. -"And you're disappointed"
"I thought he was…everyone tells me he was a good person who…"
"Of course that what they would tell you Harry, no one will tell the orphan that his dad was an asshole."
Harry looked at Ginny incredulously, as if he couldn't believe she just said that.
"What? It's the truth. No one tells those who lost someone the truth of what they were like. I'm sure your dad wasn't as bad as you're making him out to be."
"You did not see what I saw."— Harry paused for a moment, he had never talked to anyone apart from Ron and Hermione and rarely told them everything, but he had to talk about it, and he was sure it would be in the books, everything was in the bloody books. Harry shook his head and told Ginny about her mom and Snape, about the attacks and the memory. By the time Harry finished, Ginny was sitting across from him, and he was mad again
"Harry, I'm not justifying what your dad did, I want to understand it. But I think you're projecting your traumas with his actions. What they did to Snape was not right and now that they are grown they understand it, but I am sure that Snape was not a saint either, there is a line between defending yourself and wanting to do harm. When Snape picked up the wand, what spell did he use?"
Harry scowled. –"It was a cutting curse."
"Exactly, it could have easily hit him square on the face or in the chest. I feel that everyone here is on the same level. Your dad changed I'm sure or your mom wouldn't have paid attention to him, Lupin changed, Sirius not so much but the man is still stuck at 21 and until he receives the necessary help that's where he will stay.
"Do you think it's their fault that Snape is like this?"
"No, Snape, I'm sure, has his own sins. At a young age one has the choice of changing perhaps not entirely but enough to do better. I'm sure his bad decisions torment him that he has become bitter, that doesn't justify him being our bully now Snape chose his path.
Sirius has lived drowning in guilt for 13 years. He's never had a chance to grow up. He's been in the shadows of war for twenty years.
Lupin according to Tonks has never stopped feeling like a monster and even though he shows bravery in battle, he has let his cowardice get the better of him. Your dad, we'll never know who he was because he died a boy, he was 21 Harry, and we'll never know what kind of man he could have become. Don't focus on his faults, we all have them, all my life I will feel guilty of what I did, and I am sure that in the future you will do or have done things that you do not want your children to do, and you will feel ashamed if they ever find out, but that's what make us human. "
"Nobody is perfect"—Harry said, biting his lip.
"Exactly"
"Sirius, he almost killed Snape, I had forgotten…"
Ginny went still. -"Are you sure?"
"I really don't know any more, I know that Sirius had something to do with it, but I don't remember the details. How far can an enmity go?"
"I don't know, I'll always hate the Malfoys. Snape has every right to hate Sirius. Sirius has every right to continue to dislike Snape, but if they told you this it's because they know they were wrong, talk to them Harry, tell them you're disappointed, make them understand why. Neither your dad nor Sirius nor Lupin are evil. You know better than anyone what evil looks like. Do they look like that?"
"No," Harry said, shaking his head.
"That's right,"—They stayed silent for a while, Ginny realized he was still lost in his thoughts.—" You'll be fine if i leave you alone?"—Ginny told him with a small smile.
"Yes, I want to think, but I'll go to my room. Um thanks Ginny"—Harry smiled back.
"Nothing to thank Harry, that's what friends are for."-Ginny told him as they walked out into the hall. But she paused and turned to look at Harry, who was already at the end of the hall—"Harry, some advice. When this is all over"—She paused and Harry nodded—"You have to get Sirius out of this house, I don't think it's doing him any good."
Harry frowned and was about to ask her what she meant, but Ginny was already walking down the stairs.
Here it is guys. I hope you like it.
Please review and remember I do this for fun.
