The airship hovered over Forever Falls. Leo turned to look back at the others while readying his SAW.
"This will be interesting," Weiss stated as Leo cracked his neck.
"Race you guys down!" Ruby yelled before leaping out of the airship. Yang followed with her gauntlets firing as Leo took a few steps back.
Weiss was about to speak up before Leo leaped out after them. Better Spartans than him had made worse falls than him.
However, rather than trying to curl into a ball and reduce his velocity as they had? Leo used something he had gotten on Requiem.
He pulled up his arm and triggered the forerunner shield he had collected on the shield world. The hard light construct formed over his forearm.
Leo smashed through a tree as he fell to the ground like a missile. He hummed and looked up to see Pyrrha kick off a tree, positioning her shield under her to break her fall. She landed like an ODST would, crouched and bringing up her spear.
Weiss leaped down on her glyphs and landed in a crouch with Blake as Yang backflipped off a tree. Ren and Nora followed after.
Jaune grabbed onto a tree branch as Leo walked under the branch and gazed up at the knight.
"Do you need help getting down?" Leo questioned as he raised an eyebrow.
"Uh… No, I'm good." Jaune said as Leo shrugged before a growl split the air.
"That didn't sound like a wolf…" Leo said as Pyrrha and Weiss passed by the Spartan.
"It isn't… That's a Grimm." Weiss said as Leo shrugged.
"Ok then," Leo muttered and slowly swung his SAW around. "Where is these Grimm?" Leo asked and checked his motion tracker.
Despite not having friend or foe tags? His tracker showed all 8 members of the 4-man teams.
"You said Spartans are humanity's best weapon," Pyrrha said as she slowly advanced into the forest.
"They are where I come from," Leo said and followed the spartan girl, Weiss, Ruby… And Jaune fell from the branch onto his shield with a groan. "Not sure if that would hold up here.
Pyrrha looked at him with interest, not having seen anything like the Spartan at the moment.
"Grimm!" Ruby said before something emerged from the grass.
Leo watched as a dot appeared at 20 meters. He aimed his SAW at it before blinking as the creature appeared.
It was a wolf-like being, it looked to be 1 meter or more in size. Leo hummed and turned to Pyrrha.
"The Grimm are animals?" Leo questioned with disbelief evident in his voice. "Remind me to show you what Spartans go up against when this is done," Leo said before checking his motion tracker.
Leo saw at least 4 targets with a bigger dot in the middle. A pack leader if Leo had to guess.
"We should set up a square," Leo said as he looked over the others.
"Beowolves are pack hunters." Weiss put in which got a nod from Leo.
"Then we should draw them out, make their numbers less effective," Leo said before standing up. "Let me see what I can do. If you have a better plan? I'd bring it up now, I have a plan." Leo said and kept his SAW ready.
Both Jaune and Ruby shared a look that showed they didn't fully trust him. It didn't surprise him; they didn't know him… They didn't know very well, nor he them. However? Leo had no intention of letting the group down.
"I'll be right back," Leo said and sprinted around the group.
He ran a parallel to the pack of creatures, one of them spotted him and howled before rushing him. Leo turned, bringing up his gun and firing a burst at the Grimm.
The bullets flew at the lunging monster. They exploded, showering the creature in shrapnel as it collapsed to the ground, part of its skull no longer existing.
Ruby leaped up and down before rushing into the other 3. she unslung Crescent Rose, sweeping one to the ground with the counterweight. One of the Beowolves rushed at her only for Pyrrha to hurl her shield which sliced through the creature's throat before ricocheting to her hand. Ruby smashed her scythe into the other Beowolf, slaying it.
Leo rushed in, leaping over Ruby and activating his thrusters. The spartan slammed into the creature with enough force to crush its head with his knee, the Beowolf flew into a tree. He watched black smoke billow from the creatures.
"That… WAS AWESOME!" Nora yelled before more growls emerged from the grass.
"Pack hunters, huh?" Leo asked Weiss who frowned as 2 dozen growls split the air. "As I said, spread them out. Soldiers or not? Their more effective if they can pin someone down." Leo said and shook his head.
They might not have been soldiers, but he could see their coordination was similar. Leo aimed his gun.
"Right, divide their numbers!" Weiss yelled as she and Blake flew back from one of her glyphs.
More of the Beowolves began to emerge, slowly but surely which made him shake his head with annoyance.
Leo watched as the teams split up to handle the monsters. He turned to see Jaune and Pyrrha still with him.
"Someone's got to back you up, right?" Jaune asked as the bigger mark began to move closer.
"Something tells me that might have been a bad move," Leo said before the creature emerged.
It was far larger than the other Beowolves, with more bony protrusions from its body. The creature was as tall as Leo was, the spartan reached for his sticky detonator which flew into his hand.
"Pack leader?" Leo questioned Pyrrha who nodded. "Then yeah, backup is a good idea… You lead, I'll follow." Leo said, a plan to kill this creature already forming in his mind.
The Alpha Beowolf roared and swung a clawed hand at Leo who brought up his Hardlight shield. The Grimm stumbled back, the force of the shield deflecting its blow.
Pyrrha spun Milo, transforming the weapon into its spear form as she stabbed at the creature, driving it back. Jaune rushed to slash the creature's leg only for it to smack him aside.
Leo looked at Jaune, allowing the Beowolf to smack him with its other hand. He flew several feet back, digging in his hand as his shields drained by a quarter, cloaking him in golden light as he slowly stood up.
Pyrrha threw Akouo which ricocheted off the creature's chest. She rushed forward as the creature nipped at her only for her to kick off the creature's shoulder.
Leo rushed in as the monster turned towards Pyrrha who was running towards it. He drew his M11 knife with his other arm as he leaped into the creature, turning its head towards him with interest.
He dug its knife into its eye while smashing his foot into its head. The Beowolf swung to the side which allowed Pyrrha to stab her spear into its side. The Beowolf reared back as Jaune smashed his shield into it, staggering it as the creature roared in rage at the 3 humans attacking it.
Leo spun his sticky detonator and looked at Pyrrha and Jaune, the creature roared and swatted at them, making them fall back.
"Get its mouth open!" Leo yelled as he looked at the others.
"On it!" Jaune said as he rushed at the Beowolf.
Pyrrha leaped over him to land a strike on its leg, pinning it down. Leo rushed in, aiming his weapon at the creature's head. Jaune stabbed into its other leg, forcing it to the ground once more.
Leo leaped onto the creature's back; he reared an armored hand into its muzzle. The Beowolf roared and tried to pry the Supersoldier off of it. Leo tugged its mouth open and fired the round into its fang-filled mouth.
Leo plucked his knife from its head as he rolled off it and grabbed the monster's right arm.
He swung down, pulling his weight with him, the creature screeched in pain as Leo pulled it over his head. He slammed it into the ground before kicking off its chest.
The Beowolf pushed itself up and roared only for Leo to click the detonator. The explosive triggered, destroying the Grimm's head as it staggered before collapsing to the ground.
"Whoa…" Jaune said as Leo reloaded his gun and placed it on his thigh.
"Nice job," Leo said, nodding to the duo and crossing his arms. "So, this thing is a Grimm, huh?" Leo questioned as he bent down to examine the monster.
The beast started to dissolve into smoke while he blinked under his helmet. Leo's HUD started to record the creature for a document.
"Their soulless monsters, beings of pure destruction," Pyrrha said which got a hum from Leo.
"You don't say," Leo said and stood up with interest. "Do your friends need help?" Leo questioned before a Beowolf was thrown into a tree next to them.
"I don't think that is a smart idea," Jaune said and got a nod from Leo as he hummed.
"I have a call to make, excuse me," Leo said as he started to step away from the duo. "Infinity? This is Spartan Cerule, I'm sending a feed. They call it a 'Grimm', local monsters. I'll send more footage when possible. How copy?" Leo asked over a line to the supercarrier.
"I'll send it to Dr. Halsey, Spartan," Miller responded while Leo turned to look over at Pyrrha and Jaune. "Infinity will be arriving soon in Vale alongside the Atlesian Fleet and ESG-1. The Science division is coming up with solutions on resources and such. What about you?" Miller asked as Leo turned to look over his shoulder.
"Big game hunting." Leo deadpanned and hummed. "I'll wait for Infinity's arrival. Spartan Cerule out." Leo said and closed the line as he sighed.
"That was impressive," Pyrrha said as she looked over at the Alpha Beowolf.
"Good teamwork, that thing was massive," Leo said while turning to the Spartan girl. "Your friend was smart, taking out its leg so we could attack its head," Leo said and turned to the airship that had ferried them here.
"Well, it just seemed like you both had it covered," Jaune said as Leo hummed.
"I didn't know what it could do," Leo said and shook his head. "First the covenant, then the Grimm. I'm starting to wonder where humanity is safe." Leo said which got a frown from Pyrrha.
"You still haven't told us much about the covenant," Pyrrha said as Jaune put his sword away.
"See the fancy armor I have?" Leo asked and got a nod. "Imagine an army of non-human soldiers. Give them high-tech weapons, warships, and enough firepower to destroy this planet. That's the short version, I'll explain more when we get back to Beacon." Leo said while pondering how long things would be like this.

Jul watched the feed from one of his Jackal snipers and looked at one of his officers.
"We should kill them while they're busy with these beasts." The Sangheili stated which got a shake of the head from Jul.
"The humans will be massing in that settlement soon," Jul stated as he hummed. "We will strike then when their guard is down. Killing a single demon is worthless compared to an army of them." Jul said and cut the feed.
He also knew the device would bring more things through. The best he got from his scientists was that the artifact was a gate across the cosmos… A gate that sent them to Requiem, which sent them here.
Which meant more would surely follow, human, Covenant, and everything else.
All he could do was question what would happen at the moment. He knew for sure what would happen to this planet. As long as Jul got what he wanted? He would gladly allow them to swamp this blasted parasite-filled land.
War had come.

Phew. Another chapter is done! I want to point out next chapter will be 1500 words. I will point out the Banished and Didact are in the story. The next chapter will show Leo speaking to Ozpin again and starting to bond more with Pyrrha again. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
