Pyrrha knocked a jackal to the back before spearing it in the eye with Milo. She turned to see a storm elite before Leo stabbed it in the throat.

The Sangheili collapsed to the ground as Leo cleaned and sheathed the knife. Jaune looked at the duo after pulling his blade from a jackal. A dozen or so covenant soldiers laid slain on the ground behind the duo.

"So, this is the bunker?" Leo questioned before a massive fireball shook the area.

One of the CRS-Class Light Cruisers spiraled towards the ground in flames. The Gambit turned to engage the other cruiser which started to retreat.

"We used to be the underdogs in the war with the Covenant." Leo said to which Pyrrha hummed. "Anyway…" Leo stated as he turned towards the bunker.

"You can come out now!" Jaune put in while Leo checked his motion tracker.

"Not yet." Leo said to which Jaune looked at him.

Leo dropped the magazine and inserted another drum into the Answer as he looked into the smoke. An elite commander pointed at them as 6 storm elites emerged with groups of jackals and grunts.

Leo hummed and faced the platoon of covenant soldiers while shaking his head. He turned to Pyrrha as the advanced on them.

"Leo, Pyrrha, can you handle them?" Leo questioned to which Pyrrha and him nodded.

"Jaune, get them out of here, we're handle this." Leo said to which Jaune nodded as the covenant opened fire.

Leo sprinted for cover and slid behind a totaled car as he looked at the ground. Pyrrha did the same, transforming Milo into its rifle form. Leo turned to her as he hummed.

"Ever been in combat like this?" Leo questioned before turning and firing, a trio of grunts spun as the bullets forced to look to the side.

"No, but I've fought before." Pyrrha said and fired Milo, a pair of grunts dropped dead.

Leo grabbed the last of his current grenades and threw it into the group of covenant soldiers. They scattered like roaches as shrapnel barraged them and impacted several of them.

Pyrrha raised her hand which glowed black as she focused on the billboard which cracked as the supports ripped free. Leo blinked as the covenant rushed around. Leo could only ponder what she had done.

It was then Pyrrha rushed forward, transforming Milo into its sword function as she turned. Pyrrha pivoted and stabbed a Jackal as Leo hummed and rushed in as well, opening fire.

Pyrrha flipped over one of the jackals, kicking another as she turned and stabbed into the creature. A third jackal went to shoot her before a pair of bullets executed it.

Leo continued firing, emptying half the magazine as jackal and grunt collapsed, Pyrrha vaulted off his shoulder at one of the elites. Leo turned as the others opened fire.

Leo had a spurt of plasma fire bounce off his shields before he activated his Hardlight shield. Pyrrha turned and transformed Milo before hurling the spear into one of the elites.

The elite fell over as the spear pierced its shielding. Pyrrha rushed forward as the other elites opened fire. Pyrrha ducked behind Akouo as she reclaimed Milo.

Leo used the distraction to fire, a quartet of bullets popping one of their shields as 3 drew their energy swords.

Leo turned only for Pyrrha to stab one of the Jackals and then turned to block the sword with her shield. She pushed the blade aside with her semblance. She twisted his arm up, locking it in place. She stabbed the elite before another slashed her on the back.

Leo grabbed the elite's arm, using his other arm and twisting the elite to the side. Pyrrha's aura swirled red to which Leo hummed as the remaining covenant soldiers surrounded them.

"You, ok?" Leo asked as he checked the remaining dozen bullets in the mag. "Your good for someone who isn't a soldier…" Leo put in to which Pyrrha hummed.

"I'm ok, my aura is fine." Pyrrha said as Leo nodded.

The remaining soldiers surrounded them as a phantom flew overhead, aiming its guns at them. Leo aimed his SAW and Pyrrha twirled Milo.

"You think Jaune got those civilians out?" Leo asked and turned to Pyrrha. "He's cutting himself short as a fighter. Nobody starts out at the top." Leo pointed out with a hum to which Pyrrha nodded.

"He'll do it." Pyrrha said to which Leo nodded as another Phantom aimed its guns at them.

This was before another explosion rocked the city as one of the phantoms burst into flames. The gunship spun and then crashed into the ground.

A pelican emerged, firing its guns at the other phantom which exploded as the gunfire shredded its hull.

The remaining covenant ran for cover as the other cruiser started to retreat. Leo watched as a flash of light burst from the muzzle of Gambit, burning through the cruiser's shields and causing it to slowly descend.

Leo looked up at the ship as the covenant retreated. He could see Beowolves and others monsters attacking the remaining soldiers as he looked at Pyrrha.

"The covenant will deal with the Grimm." Leo said and reloaded his gun with his last magazine. "I'm starting to run out of ammo… We should get the remaining civilians out of here." Leo said as he and Pyrrha looked at the carnage.

She could see piles of dust which she had passed when she and Leo fought through the city. Leo shook his head and looked at Pyrrha.

"I told you the covenant are ruthless." Leo said and sighed. "I thought when the war ended this would go away. It just came back under a new leader." Leo said before another line came over the radio.

"Sierra, we've set up a landing zone out in a clearing." Leo heard from Gambit. "The pilot said a pair of kids have been holding the line. Their keeping up with the marines out there." Leo heard to which he chuckled.

"We're escorting a group out to the LZ." Leo stated as he and Pyrrha turned and walked towards it. "Our ride took some fire; can you pick it up?" Leo questioned to which he questioned and nodded.

"We copy, sierra, Captain Lasky wants to speak with you back at Vale." Leo heard to which he nodded and looked around once more.

"We're get it done; Gambit actual." Leo stated and turned to Pyrrha. "Any doubts I had about Beacon? Their gone, you can fight. That was some nice fighting." Leo said as he watched the Pelican fly away, its guns firing away at the flying Grimm who backed away.

"Leo?" Pyrrha questioned to which Leo hummed and turned to her. "We still need to talk about things I heard back at Beacon." Pyrrha added to which he said nothing.

"We can talk on the Gambit." Leo said while he turned to the floating cruiser in the air. "I think we both want to keep the civilians safe before we talk, yeah?" Leo questioned to which he nodded.

"Indeed." Pyrrha said to which Leo hummed and nodded before looking up at Gambit. "And thank you for supporting Jaune, he's not the most perfect leader." Pyrrha said which got Leo to nod.

"Good leaders take care of the group and put abilities to use." Leo said and looked at Jaune who was in front of a group of a few dozen people. "Jaune knew Nora and Ren could deal with holding the line. He also didn't panic seeing what the covenant did, he doesn't have to be a soldier to be a leader. You tell him I said that." Leo said to which Pyrrha smiled.

"Thank you, Leo." Pyrrha said as she and Leo entered the forest.

"SMASH!" Leo and the others heard as a bear like Grimm smashed through a tree close to them. "AW, IT'S broken." Leo heard as he rounded the corner.

A group of marines stood by as a Pelican started to land. Leo could only ponder what happened as Ren lowered Stormflower. Leo nodded as him as Nora leaned her hammer on her shoulder.

"Let's get to the Gambit." Leo said as another pelican landed. "The covenant will come back… And they won't leave ruins next time." Leo said while looking at the floor.

Pyrrha frowned and sheathed her weapons. She knew things would be different at the moment. She would be ready for next time.

"So, this is the UNSC?" Ren questioned and got a simple nod.

"What would the covenant want here?" Leo quietly questioned himself with a hum. "Jul must be trying to gain a foothold on Remnant." Leo stated as Pyrrha and Jaune looked at him.

"Jul?" Both questioned as Leo nodded.

"Covenant's leader." Leo said and lowered his weapon. "Elite like the ones around here. The UNSC has been hunting him since he popped up. He would have been behind this attack…. Coward doesn't have the spine the prophets did, at least they tried to stand up to us." Leo said and turned to shepherd the civilians aboard the pelican.

Leo watched as the UNSC Gambit moved overhead to pick up the Pelicans.

"Your airship isn't going anywhere for a while." Leo said and gestured to the new pelican. "How about a UNSC ride back to Beacon?" Leo questioned and nodded to the Gambit which was busy dispatching its remaining pelicans.

"We still need to talk." Pyrrha said to which Leo hummed and shrugged at the moment.

"Said that a few times." Leo said as he turned to look back at the spartan girl. "How about we talk somewhere that isn't a raging battlefield with snipers?" Leo questioned and brushed off his armor.

Leo turned and placed the Answer on his back, locking the SAW into place as he stepped onto the new pelican. Leo took a seat near the back of the craft while JNPR slowly boarded the craft.

Pyrrha sat next to Leo while the spartan hummed. A group of civilians started to join them.

Gek clacked his jaws. Over a hundred of his brother's dead and 2 of their cruisers reduced to scrap.

"Our attack has failed, supreme leader." Gek stated to which Jul shook his head.

"No, we know the humans are in 'Vale'." Jul stated and pointed at the holomap. "Now we can destroy them in one attack." Jul said and snapped his mandibles shut.

Gek said nothing, simply curious as to what the supreme leader of the covenant would do next.

"What of our forces near the border of the city?" Jul questioned to which Gek clacked his jaws.

"They make camp near the mountain." Gek reported and looked at the map. "I do not trust Parg Vol. He does not fight in the name of the gods, his devotion to you is questionable, holy leader." Gek stated to which Jul said nothing.

"Every follower has their use, Gek." Jul said and turned away. "Clear out this mountain and prepare for the next part of the plan." Jul said while brushing off his armor.

Jul could only anticipate how many more would be drawn to this world…. And how much he'd be putting on the line for this victory.

There was something that he wanted on this planet. He'd get it no matter what he'd have to sacrifice for him to get it.

Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out that next chapter will longer and more delayed and such. Next chapter will be in 2-10 months and will show Pyrrha and Leo talking more and talking about Leo's past while bonding. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
