Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Spartan and the Legionary. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own RWBY or Halo. Monty Oum, Microsoft, 343, and Rooster Teeth do.
(UNSC Gambit, Autumn Class Heavy Cruiser)
Pyrrha spotted Leo who was busy talking to a marine at the moment. His gun sat on a supply crate next to him.
"No, Commander Ambrose is talking to them now, I thought they were all MIA." The marine said to which Leo hummed, shock evident in his voice at the moment.
"Maybe… Tell me when the commander can talk, got it?" Leo ordered the marine who nodded and walked away.
Leo turned as Pyrrha sat on the crate next to him. Leo hummed as Pyrrha turned to the 7ft Supersoldier.
"Kurt spoke about you," Pyrrha said, pulling her knees to her chest. "He was busy talking to Professor Ozpin and General Ironwood about your file," Pyrrha stated to which Leo turned.
"Kurt's a good soldier," Leo said and checked his SAW. "He'd like someone like you. He probably got a read on you when he walked in." Leo said as he set the gun down on the ground.
"You've been fighting for years, haven't you?" Pyrrha questioned to which Leo hummed. "That's why you're so eager to fight the Covenant," Pyrrha added while Leo turned his helmeted head to her.
"Hmm." Leo put in and slumped forward slightly. "Keep talking, I'll answer what I can, there's plenty I can't at the moment. ONI doesn't like people outside their reach." Leo put in to which Pyrrha hummed.
"Was the war that bad?" Pyrrha questioned and got a nod. "Kurt took you in?" Pyrrha added as Leo turned, his armor shifting slightly as he turned to her.
"I believe I said 'billions' were killed by the time the smoke cleared," Leo responded and shook his head. "Kurt…. Kurt's a good person. I trust him, DON'T trust ONI. They got their hooks in him like they do everyone." Leo added before sighing.
"How many Spartans in your group died?" Pyrrha asked to which Leo slumped forward. "Hmm. How close were you to the other Spartans? They seem like family from how Kurt spoke of them." Pyrrha said which got a chuckle that she took as a yes from Leo.
"The Spartans are family to each other, Pyrrha," Leo said and leaned back on the crate. "Take your team, you'd take a bullet for them, yeah?" Leo asked and got a nod from Pyrrha.
"Spartans we're humanity's best weapon from what I've heard," Pyrrha stated and got another hum. "Sounds like you believe they are the ONLY weapon humanity needs," Pyrrha added as Leo turned his head to her.
"You think Infinity is the best thing we got?" Leo questioned to which he crossed his arms. "During the war? We were outgunned. The UNSC fleet had to outgun the covies 50 to 1 to win, and even then? We'd still lose 75% of that." Leo added before taking a breath to keep speaking.
"Let me say this," Leo said and looked up at the hanger ceiling. "We might have enough firepower to level the majority of Remnant. We were outmatched heavily. Every weapon has uses and weaknesses. Guns run on ammo, bombs can be disarmed, ships can be outfought." Leo stated to which he crossed his arms.
"And Spartans are the most powerful thing in the UNSC?" Pyrrha questioned while Leo straightened up as he looked at the spartan girl.
"1 Spartan ended the war. ONE SPARTAN." Leo said and shook his head once more. "That's what war comes down to in my book. How each person handles it. Spartans are dangerous because of their human parts. Because we can be ruthless because we chose to be because we choose more brutal options. Soldiers are the most dangerous because soldiers chose how to fight. What better way to put it?" Leo asked which got Pyrrha to nod.
"Now, onto you." Leo put in as the hulking spartan turned to the girl with interest. "Why exactly are you so hung go about interviewing me? There's being into someone new… Then there's being obsessed. You don't strike me as someone obsessed, meaning you have another reason to be like this." Leo stated, his voice being curious at the moment.
Leo watched the spartan stare into space, her eyes burn into the hull below them as she went silent.
"You asked me questions, time for me to return the favor," Leo said which got Pyrrha to turn to him with interest. "First question is simple. Why are you so concerned with me? I'm a spartan, we go through the worst parts of war ad come out stronger. I'm not a bratty kid who can't look after himself." Leo said and climbed to his feet.
"Because when things get worse like that?" Pyrrha asked, standing to her feet once more. "Then people lose things. You've lost something, haven't you?" Pyrrha asked which got no answer from Leo.
"Yes…" Leo said, ice hanging off his voice as he turned to Pyrrha before he looked around. "Now, if you can excuse me? I'm going to go find someone I thought was dead. I also asked Professor Ozpin if I can see how good the other teams are." Leo stated before he slowly marched away.
Pyrrha could only frown, she knew Leo had a nerve touched at the moment. Still? She wasn't giving up on Leo at the moment.
"I want to fight you back at Beacon," Pyrrha said which caused Leo to stop. "You want a fight, yes? I'll fight you, but I'm not giving up trying to help you." Pyrrha put in which caused Leo to nod as he frowned and then turned to the side.
"Get it approved by Professor Ozpin first," Leo said and walked away slightly. "I'm not fighting someone unless I know we have lines set," Leo said and then departed for the bridge.
Pyrrha could see a marine stop and say something to Leo. He stopped and turned to the marine in disbelief.
"NOBLE!?" Leo questioned in disbelief. "I heard it once, I was joking before… How the hell did they…? They're at Beacon? We need to get back, Captain Lasky needs to explain some things at the moment." Leo said while brushing off his armor in shock.
Then he turned before leaving once more, clearly curious about what was happening. Lasky would have answers, he needed to speak on at the moment.
Pyrrha followed only to be stopped by the marines at the elevator as Leo took the lift up. He needed to talk with the captain.
What he didn't know was that far more people coming to Remnant soon enough…. With the dead not being stopped by this at the moment.
