Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Spartan and the Legionary. Enjoy the 5700-word chapter. I don't own RWBY or Halo. Monty Oum, Microsoft, 343, and Rooster Teeth do.
Pyrrha looked through the closet, trying to find a single piece of clothing that hadn't yet been used by her. Leo had already walked down the beach, curious as to how this seemed to be. She had been left to handle the rest.
She decided on a simple red swimsuit, she had oh so many clothes yet hadn't an excuse to wear something. She decided on a simple red swimsuit which cut off with a diamond opening on her stomach and exposed the small of her back with her symbol on her chest. She picked a pair of crimson sandals and a hairclip.
Then? She began to walk down to the shore. Leo had told her he'd wait there and keep her before
Then she decided to walk towards the beach, curious as to Leo who had sat upon a rock near him. The Spartan looked at the wide-open ocean, curious for now. He had been something amused before now.
"Deciding to go swimming?" Leo joked, raising an eyebrow as she sat next to him.
"No, just relaxing a bit," Pyrrha stated before she hummed at him before now.
He laughed before he seemed to raise an eyebrow. She seemed to be prepared for now. He wasn't at all noticing the woman who had a form-fitting swimsuit. It wasn't like he had that attracted to her for now. he rubbed at his temples, questioning what it seemed to be.
She was an odd woman, a very weird one as of the time being. it wasn't as if he knew she wanted to mess with him at the end of the day, it wasn't exactly the weirdest thing that had been on his mind and he fought alien monsters for a living so it wasn't like he had been in a weird little move to make, one which hadn't yet come to what was on their mind.
"Did you try to get me to relax out of some desire to deal with me being a soldier all the time… Or because you worried and are using me to deal with it?" Leo asked, a raised eyebrow at her as he did so. "Because I don't mind either way. I'm used to this, I'm a Spartan. People don't exactly love having me around at parties, you know. People and Spartans don't get along. We're enhanced, super soldiers." Leo added, rolling his eyes as he didn't entirely know for now.
She knew more about him when it came down to it, the next move was not laid in stone. Was she messing with him? trying to get a reaction from him? Mess with him? She had been interesting and he wanted to talk with her more. The only problem was just how she seemed to view all of this to be a weird little thing, for now, it had been something he didn't want to deal with, not at all.
There was a lot more to say and do before now. The plan, there was a lot more to this than had been expected and it seemed as if that was to be done. There was a lot more to this fight, there would always be something for this, it seemed there was a destiny between them.
Leo snorted and simply leaned further back across the rock. He had little time for small little problems like this, there were more mysteries to be solved, a lot more of an interesting bond between them. He didn't want it to fade away, be destroyed so easily by whatever came next.
The covenant? Their enemies? Something would come and destroy it all. There was so little innocence in their line of work, one which couldn't be dealt with beforehand and wouldn't be easily messed with. The concept didn't always make sense.
Pyrrha crossed her legs under her as Leo looked at the ocean, watching the waves break on the sure while she hummed, curious as to how this could have been. There was more to his little game than had been before.
It was a weird little thing, wasn't it? they always had a new mission, a new confrontation, something dwelling under the suffice if nothing else. It made every single little detail a lot worse than it had been before. There was a lot more for them to accomplish and they still had more on their minds to solve, something that wouldn't have been there before now.
"You like being a soldier, don't you?" Pyrrha questioned to which he shrugged.
"Helps me see the galaxy. You like being a Spartan, don't you?" Leo said before he hummed, tucking his legs in. "Champion, whatever? I know you're famous. A few people mentioned that. There's a lot of responsibility in being an idol, it comes down a lot more to what you do with all that power, you know." Leo said as Pyrrha kicked off her sandals and placed her feet in the water.
She shrugged, unsure of how he had been before now. she felt the water wash over her legs. It was a nice feeling, one which hadn't yet been bothered.
"I don't like people seeing me only as an idol," Pyrrha said while Leo nodded to himself.
"You're more than that. I get it. people look at me and see some armored monster that slits throats and shoots the enemy, with no compassion, no mercy, no empathy. It comes entirely with being a soldier for whatever reason and people don't care to see anything else." Leo said before he looked at Pyrrha.
"That's why you tried to be my friend, wasn't it? Because you wanted to be one of the people sitting next to me when all of it was said and done, right?" Leo said before he sighed, curious for now. "You wanted to be my friend because you saw past me being a soldier inside this armor, didn't you?" Leo asked to which there was a nod.
"What's going to happen when your mission here is done, you're going to leave?" Pyrrha questioned as Leo hummed, resting his legs under him.
"Then I guess I should thank you for being more than one of those people that had been there when it's done and dusted," Pyrrha stated to which Leo nodded.
"And secondly? I don't know, there's a lot of orders that I need to handle, command might want there to be a base here, they want a lot of things, they always seem to want a few things when it comes to it." Leo stated as he shrugged. "You want me to stay, don't you? I'm not a Huntsmen or Huntress or whatever, Pyr. I'm a soldier, a Spartan. My job isn't hunting monsters, it's killing the bad guys." Leo added.
"And there are plenty of bad guys here," Pyrrha said to which Leo nodded.
"Sure, but that's not up to me," Leo stated to which Pyrrha frowned. "I'll ask command about it after the tournament. I like it here, this place is nice, there are a lot fewer monsters that want to eat my face, and the tech is cool… And then there are people like you who enjoy helping each other, why?" Leo said as his friend frowned at him.
"Hey, I'm not going anywhere anytime soon, we both know how this is going to go. I've seen those cheesy movies." Leo stated as he hummed, tilting his head to the side as he did so.
The nightmare hadn't yet come. They hadn't yet been afforded the comfort of chaos that much. There was a lot more to be done and could be done.
"You're scared that much I'm going to leave without even a goodbye? Pyr. I'm not that heartless, I'm a soldier. This mushy stuff isn't what I'm good at. You need to take out when that is done and dusted, you know." Leo stated as he rubbed at his temples.
There was a lot more to this move when it seemed to be done and dusted, whatever it seemed to be before now would be a nightmare. Leo seemed as if he was to throw himself off a bridge sooner or later from the tension which hadn't once calmed down and didn't seem as if it would anytime soon.
He tilted his head, curious only to how this game would end up playing out for now. They had more on the line, a lot more to be worried about. Yet they couldn't let the worry get to them if they did? Well, people would die, everyone would suffer, and they'd all get to go through hell together.
Leo looked over at Pyrrha who ran her feet through the ankle-high water and seemed to be more at ease than she was a few seconds ago.
"If you're so worried about your future and people judging you? Why talk to me? I'm not exactly the best people person and those other friends of yours seem open to talking." Leo stated as Pyrrha frowned.
"One of my friends has a very complicated friendship with me and the others are all different towards me," Pyrrha said before she sat slightly back on the chair, the water pooling up to her ankles. "And there's a lot of people who act like I should be in Beacon because I was Mistral Champion," Pyrrha stated to which Leo became silent over.
"So, your worried your entire life is based around WHAT you are, not WHO you are," Leo said while he got a nod. "Well, then I can relate. EVERY Spartan compares themselves to the Master Chief and his group, all of us wondering if we're just as good as him since he set the bar for us Spartans." Leo stated.
"Master Chief?" Pyrrha questioned as Leo nodded, flicking a finger to the sky.
"Best Spartan alive and the one who helped us end the war. There's so much red tape around him that's all I can say." Pyrrha heard as she nodded to herself.
"Then I guess you know how hard it is to be the best," Pyrrha said as Leo nodded.
"Yes, but you can make that work positively," Leo said as Pyrrha blinked. "Chief knows he's the best of the best. He brings out the best in the UNSC. The man is a damn war hero. Every single Spartan? Even if they won't damn well admit it? thinks of him highly. Chief is the guy who pushes us to do better." Leo said before he cleared his throat.
"You're a champion who doesn't want to be judged on being a badass. Then don't, be yourself." Leo said as he crossed his legs under him. "Your fame and legacy are still important. It inspires others to try and push themselves. How many students do you think Beacon got because they know someone as humble and talented as you are here? How many people do you think you lift by setting the example of what a Huntress is?" Leo asked as Pyrrha smiled.
She shifted her wait, sitting a bit closer to him which made him smile to himself. He raised his eyebrow at her while he tilted his head.
"I thought you said you weren't a people person," Pyrrha said with a playful elbow to the side.
"Well, it comes down to what the people are," Leo said to which he tilted his head to the side. "You're not exactly less of a badass, I saw you go through the Covenant like a knife through butter. Pretty impressive for someone with a sword/spear/gun and a shield." Leo said as he hummed, tilting his head to the side as he did so.
She blushed which made him shake his head while he tilted his head. She leaned closer to her friend as Leo looked out over the ocean.
Leo fell silent, curious as to her motives and what would come to the forefront. He tilted his head, all unwilling to see the moment end so well.
"Spartan Leo?" Leo heard over his communicator. "NOBLE Team is being deployed to Vale; this is a planet-wide encrypted transmission." Leo heard as he rolled his eyes.
"Off work and still getting calls up the office phone." Leo joked as he looked at her. "So, are we going to sit on this beach all day, or do you plan on doing something today?" Leo questioned to which she fell silent.
He was a lot more interested in how this would end up playing out for now when it came down to it. There was a lot less at stake now when he considered it as of the time. He was unsure of what her intentions behind it were. He didn't wish to end it before long. He had been perhaps ready for now. He was unsure of their next real move and what she'd do.
She was not someone whom he wanted to be angered when all of this was prepared for now. She had been constantly catching him off guard. He was not going to back down so easy, not to do something that had yet.
She hummed at him, preparing for the worst. If anything? It had been making him unsure if she'd crack before he did. She was odd like that, constantly pushing against the way.
"We're a bunch of weird perfect damn warriors, ain't we? Burdened by the fact we're able to do so well… And without much more to go… Well, you. Me? I'm still just one of a thousand new Spartans." Leo stated while he hummed.
"I don't want to be at the top." Leo heard from Pyrrha as he waved his hands back and forth.
"You can always go up the ladder, Pyr… Not down it, not unless you meet something bigger than you." Leo said before he looked at her.
He hummed, simply unsure of what she'd do. There was only more to this every single little second that they existed when it was all done and dusted.
If anything? He was not willing to get involved in this more than he had been already.
"You know what will happen if they get to Vale though, yeah?" Pyrrha heard which got a nod from her as he hummed. "You want to know something? when I put on that armor… it's not just what I am… It's about what the person and the people who wear it stand for. When you head off to go fight a thousand Grimm? You're standing up for what you believe in, your ideas, what you hold close, right? That's what I do… And what I stand for is what was drilled into me when I was a kid. It sucks, but I was raised to fight, and I know what people will want from me. I know what they expect." Leo said as Pyrrha climbed back onto the rock.
"Would you die if your destiny was to die in combat?" Pyrrha asked as Leo shrugged.
"Would you? Die just to hold something back and protect what was important? Throw it all away just to buy someone a little more time?" Leo questioned as Pyrrha frowned.
"It ain't easy, is it? You're not willing to die if you have to… Nobody is. Sometimes we need to when it comes down to it." Leo asked before he hummed. "Anyway, on a less philosophical line of logic? Any reason you decided to wear a bathing suit yet not go swimming? Where do I come from? Usually, people decide to go swimming when they're wearing that." Leo asked with amusement as he sighed, unsure of whatever he did.
If there were a lot more moves to question when all of this was as of now. He was prepared for now. He was unsure of what would even come when this was done and dusted. If anything? It took his mind as now. He was prepared before now what it came down to it.
There was a lot to focus on besides the Covenant now. He was too curious as of now. He was unsure before now what that even meant if anything.
"I don't like wearing the armor all the time that often, you know," Pyrrha stated to which Leo hummed, unsure of what to say to that.
"Well, at least your honest," Leo stated before he hummed, tapping on his knees. "You know… I'm probably not fighting in the tournament; I doubt they allow enhanced Spartan-IVs supersoldiers to be in one-on-one matches." Leo said while he shrugged and slowly started forward.
He knew more than that what would come if Mdama and his army showed up at Vale. The covenant might not have the same scale as before, but they still had a large number before he questioned.
Still? if Pyrrha equaled the Covenant? He doubted Remnant was in danger from the Covenant anytime soon if anything? They could push back sooner or later, that was a lot better before now.
"Are you going to be ok for now? there's going to be a lot more hurdles to clear before now." Leo added while he clicked his fingers while he questioned before now what to handle the next.
He hummed while he cracked his fingers and slowly stood up before now. Whatever he did before now would probably be odder than what they were capable of.
He was watching as she slowly started to slump through the water. He hummed before she started to splash around in the water, turning towards Leo who continued to recline on the rock as she smirked and tossed some water at the Spartan, making him laugh.
"Don't, you're messing with the wrong Spartan, Pyr," Leo stated while he cracked his fingers with a smile as he tilted his head, unsure of what she'd do. "Screw it. I'll play." Leo said as he pulled off his shoes and leaped into the water, splashing at the woman as he did so, smiling at her and rolling his eyes as he did so.
Leo tilted his head as water slashed over his face, laughing as he 'returned fire' at her. If anything? It made him laugh a bit to know that she was the way she was. They needed something to laugh about to themselves, unsure of what was coming next. He had tilted his head a little more only for more water to slam into his face, making the boy laugh as he realized what needed to be done to end this.
Yet? Part of him found this to be too amusing for anyone to break it for him. If anything? He laughed more knowing just how odd it seemed for him to be in this position when all of this was done and dusted.
Pyrrha spun, water dancing from her heels, her hair flying free in the breeze as she seemed to find some more amusement in trying to him.
She kicked her foot out at him as he leaped back, smirking as he pushed her over and laughing only for her to grab his neck before she dragged him down into it.
"Oh, you're done now!" Leo asked as he laughed, water dripping from his clothes.
"Ah, is someone mad they're all wet?" Pyrrha asked before more water was thrown at her face. "I'm sorry!" Pyrrha yelled in-between laughs and squeals of joy.
(UNSC Infinity)
The Pelican landed and Laskey slowly started to march towards them. A group of Six figures all of whom were all clad in their armor, all of which had been a lot cleaner than it seemed.
"Commander. It's good to see you. Are you going to be, ok?" Laskey questioned as Carter looked around before he sighed. "There's a lot of things we're going to need to catch you up on… Noble Team is back and we're going to need them for the next…" Laskey started to say before Halsey cleared her throat.
"Jorge, are you… Alive?" Halsey questioned as the hulking Spartan stepped up.
"Ay, ma'am. Didn't think I'd see you. Last I checked? I was blowing up a Covenant carrier, then it all went dark, and now? I guess we're here?" Jorge stated as he hummed, unsure of what to say.
"Hmm… Captain? I need to run some tests. It seems we've gotten more combining to this planet from other dimensions… From other points in the UNSC's time and I would like to see if that's as true what I assume it will be." Halsey said before one of the techs ran up to Lasky.
"Sir? We've got a UNSC signal being followed by at least a dozen other Covenant signals." The tech stated before frowning.
"Bring the ship to combat status. We're going to settle over Vale's atmosphere and keep the fleet on high alert," Lasky ordered before he seemed to question what had been done.
"Ma'am, the hell's going on?" Jorge put in as Halsey held up her hands towards him.
"It will need to wait; it seems as if everything was going on what to happen," Halsey stated before she hummed. "Hmm. I have a feeling I may know who has just come here. This relic needs to be found if I'm right? We may just find the dead walking among us if too much is messed with." Halsey stated before he frowned, unsure of what would be done, what would be dusted.
There was too much at stake if her hunch was right, but she had to press onward, had to if they were to get to the damn bottom of this abyss and find out if her hunch was all too true or not when all of this was done and dusted.
(With Pyrrha and Leo)
Pyrrha splashed around in the water while Leo rolled his eyes, looking around as he rolled his eyes. He could feel water dripping from his body before he questioned before he sighed before now. The fun had to end sooner or later, it was only far when all of it was said and done. He had a lot more to do anyway, wasn't like he had much left to do today.
There was a lot more amusement in this anyway. Pyrrha spun in place, kicking her feet out as Leo rolled his eyes.
Pyrrha hummed, unsure of what her friend was doing when it was all over with when push came to shove. There was only so much he could have done when all of it was said and done. He rubbed at his arms and slowly started to walk out of the water, rolling as he did so. There was only a bit of that within himself.
He pulled himself from the water and sighed. He'd go and get water-friendly clothes soon. It wasn't exactly like he could have seen it coming when push came to shove at the end of the day. Still? it made him roll his eyes knowing that as a Spartan? It was his duty to be prepared for anything and part of his training was all about how they knew each other when it was all over with.
Then again? Humorful? He laughed at the idea he wouldn't have been trained for going to the beach. It was just part of him at the end of the day.
"Hmm." Pyrrha started to say before Leo hummed, raising an eyebrow as he looked at her.
"Are you good? Sorry, I didn't mean to go overboard." Pyrrha said to which he fell silent, shrugging as he did so.
There was only so much he could say as he shrugged, leaning back on the stone around him as he sighed, rubbing at his temples.
"Nah, just wasn't expecting that for now. I don't know what's going on, sorry." Leo said while he cracked his knuckles.
Leo was thrown off by this if only before he seemed to be questioning before he tilted his head before settling on a rock, cracking his fingers he hummed, unsure of what to be handling before now.
He questioned what to do before he hummed, unsure of what to do next before now. He was a lot more unsure how much of this was having a normal day and how much was just him being caught off guard in any way shape or form. He had more to focus on anyway knowing just what awaited him when he got back to the Infinity from now. He had a lot more to deal with than just that when he got back to their soon.
If anything? He wanted the distraction, it helped a lot more than anything else, anything in particular when push came to shove.
Pyrrha hummed before she questioned what to do next when all of this was said and done. If nothing else? There was a lot more to do when he got back, too unready of what they'd' question him to do.
He was none too sure what would be done, none too prepared for the next phase of the UNSC's plans. Nor could they include him before now.
Pyrrha pulled on her sandals before plopping down next to him and sliding them off. she had forgotten the Spartan was still a bit taller than her at the height of their power. It wasn't like she was short, though, but she didn't once back down from that, it didn't scare her nor did she want it to. She hadn't known herself.
She knew more than anything that he wasn't a monster nor a soldier beyond her before she questioned what to do next.
"Are you going to be, ok?" Pyrrha questioned once more while she smiled before she tilted her head.
She prepared for the best, unsure before now what would happen if she didn't put her back into this.
She looked at him as he glanced around the room, preparing for the best and worst. The spartan seemed to have fallen silent as he seemed to understand what was coming next.
"I'll be fine, I'm just thinking of what's going to happen when I get back to the Infinity. They're going to need every single soldier to stop the Covenant. I'm sure Professor Ozpin will need you for something as well which means we're going to be doing our jobs for a long time before we see each other again." Leo stated to which she frowned. "I'm not saying that It's not a bad thing," Leo stated while he frowned before she seemed to question.
She knew that he was a lot more unsure. Anyone would have been unsure in his place if given the circumstances, the problems that came with this, given the ideas that he had to properly fight. He was a soldier, not a monster which made her question what before now what to say.
She questioned before she seemed to see what to do next. There was a lot more before she tilted her head while all of this was said and done.
Pyrrha seemed all too sure what would be done next. Pyrrha pulled her legs up to her chest, putting her head down on her knees. She smiled at him as he raised an eyebrow, looking at the sea as both of them seemed to just take in their sights.
"This is… Nice." Pyrrha heard from Leo as he looked out over the ocean. "Are you going to be ok when I come down to it?" Pyrrha seemed to tilt her head before she tilted her head.
She tapped her knees then her feet while he seemed to tilt her head while she hummed to herself when all of this was done and dusted.
So much to do. So, so much. He was prepared, for now, unsure of what to do with her. She was an odd little woman when it came down to it. He had a lot more focused on his job.
He was prepared for the best. He was a lot more focused. She was an odd little before now, but she had kept growing and growing the more he focused upon it. If anything? All she did was dig a bigger hole that hadn't yet been filled. He questioned what to do now.
"I'm not going to lie? This is pretty nice for a normal day. the UNSC and Atlas messing about with it all." Leo stated to which she hummed to herself.
If nothing else, she was a good friend. He was smiling to himself on the inside. He had been tired before he met her, slowly starting to be grounded down. He was still thrown off by how she acted, how she was throwing herself around.
"Maybe, but it's not over yet," Pyrrha stated to which Leo raised an eyebrow. "We still agreed to go on a walk, you know," Pyrrha stated to which he rolled his eyes.
He was still too amused to say anything before he questioned now. He was a lot more thrown off if anything by now. He knew more than she was thinking.
He still smirked, unsure of what would be happening. he tilted his head before he looked around before he sighed, preparing for what to question.
She prepared for now what would be unsure. She questioned as he tilted his head. He sighed, cracking his fingers and pulling his knees to his chest.
He tilted his head before rolling his body in place and looked at her. He was tired, exhausted if anything else. He seemed to be prepared for now.
"Can I get a few clothes before now?" Leo questioned before he hummed. "We should get going, I'm going to need more clothes before I walk around the city. I feel like going back to the beach sooner or later." Leo said while he rubbed at his nose, prepared for whatever was going to be over with.
He was unsure for now he seemed to be undone if nothing else. This was an odd point in history for him.
"Then I'm going to guess I'll wait here?" Pyrrha asked as Leo nodded and hummed.
"Give me five minutes and I'll come back to come to talk and all that," Leo stated and stood up to go get the Pelican he had used to get here.
There was a lot more to do anyway, such an odd topic nothing else. There was a lot more focus upon…
If he came back? He had a feeling that this would be over anytime soon. They had a lot more to question before now. He hummed to himself he questioned before he seemed to focus on what to do before now.
He hummed to himself while calling for a ride if anything else. There was a lot more to focus upon.
He looked at her as she raised an eyebrow, perhaps wondering if he had gotten something wrong in the shopping list and if there was at all any way to properly dispatch her from stopping her. It had been something simple, something pretty, and something ok to have been focused upon now.
There was something that questioned what to be done next. She was powerful and he rather questioned what to do next. He wasn't certain if anything. He was too unsure of what to do next if anything else. He wasn't going to do anything yet.
"Spartan Cerule? Spartan? This is Captain Lasky." Leo heard over the radio as the aircraft slowly started to float into the air and fly towards the Infinity.
Leo hummed as he looked around, preparing for now how to respond to the naval commander and get new orders.
"Here, sir," Leo responded as the aircraft slowly started to question before he sighed to himself.
He was not going to be a lot more questioned before now. He wasn't prepared before now. He had too much to focus upon while he seemed to question. He sighed before he started before, he questioned before now what he seemed to be prepared for the best.
"We just got another pair of contacts I think you might need to question before." Lasky listed before Leo blinked as he leaned back in the seat. "I'm going to talk with Professor Ozpin and General Ironwood," Lasky questioned before he seemed to find his voice.
"I'm going to guess before now you're asking Ms. Nikos to come on this mission?" Lasky heard from Leo as he chuckled. "I'm headed out to get some clothes and spend a night in Vale. What's the mission specs, sir?" Lasky stated to which she hummed before now.
He was not sure before now what he wanted if anything. The man was a good leader and he inspired his soldiers to do their best if anything. There was always something bothering him and it made him scarce if anything. He had a lot more respect for the man if anything before now.
He still expected some sort of orders if he was getting thrown onto the frontlines of combat. There was still a need to know what he was up against, now the terrain, what allies were in the area. There were still details of being in the military that made him far more seriously involved in this before now. He had to strike harder, fight harder, and be prepared for anything on the ground.
"Yeah, I'll talk about her. Do you think at dawn you and her can report to these coordinates I'm sending to your armor? I'll brief you when I get the details together." Lasky stated to which Leo frowned but said nothing.
"Ay, I'm going to need some time to get everything ready, sir. I'll get there when I can. I just need some time." Leo stated to which there was a hum.
He cut the connection after signing off.
Author Notes
Phew. Another chapter is done! I want to point out that the next chapter will be in 2-10 months and will show both Pyrrha and the others on their mission… it will also show more of Noble Team who ARE part of the story. The next chapter will be 900-6500 words. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
