CHAPTER FORTY-TWO: GLORIA

"It's almost settled." Darton spoke.

"Yes. We'll know for sure whether my contact's prediction will come true." Hisui claimed.

"So you're not going to change your mind." Darton stated. "If the prediction comes to pass, you'll activate Eclipse."

"I was uncertain myself. I didn't want to believe it, but then thought, what if...? I vacillated between doubt and disbelief."

"It's a decision of great consequence."

"However, I believe this is the only way to make that decision. If the results of this event match the prophecy, it proves my contact really does know the future." Hisui said as her and Darton watched the matches.

"That is, the prophesied horde of dragons will destroy the kingdom of Fiore." Darton said.

"For now, let's see what happens." Hisui told him. "Let's see how their battle is going to be resolved."

Something moved underneath Millianna's cape. "It feels like something weird is stuck to me." Millianna mumbled to herself. "Is it just my imagination?"

Both Laxus and Shiro's lightning conjoined together, causing them to fly back. "Not bad... For a Second Generation Dragon Slayer." Shiro complimented.

"Was that supposed to be an insult?" Laxus asked.

"Take it the way you see it." Shiro replied.

An Earth block rose in the air, causing Atlas to fly up. "Earth God's Devastation!" He shouted, landing on the ground and smashing his fists to the ground, sending an earthquake towards Jura.

"Sediment!" Jura called out, blocking the earthquake with rock pillars and causing an explosion.

Laxus charged forward towards Shiro. "Lightning Dragon's Halberd!" He yelled, throwing a yellow lightning bolt at Shiro.

"Lightning Dragon's Breakdown Fist!" Shiro called out, thrusting his arm forward in a punching motion and sending blue lightning. Both of the lightning attacks combined in the air, causing a huge thundering explosion.

Atlas tried to punch Jura in which he blocked it. Atlas avoided the Earth pillars being thrown at him and charging forward once more as him and Jura continued to battle.

Laxus's body was covered in yellow lightning but Shiro was faster as he swiftly dodged, his body being covered in blue lightning, the both of them sending attacks at one another.

"Wow..."

"Lightning Dragon versus Lightning Dragon! They've evenly matched!"

"Laxus!" Makarov said in astonishment.

"It looks like you didn't think he was this strong." Mavis commented. "Everyone will grow. That is, all of the youngsters who will live in the next age."

"I think this is the toughest challenge Shiro has faced." Bella pointed out.

"Well, yeah, of course." Rialle nodded. "It's almost like he's fighting himself."

"I would say Shiro is higher in power, however." Olga commented.

"What makes you say that?" Rosaline looked at her.

Olga smirked. "For one, he was taught by an actual dragon. That's the obvious difference between him and Laxus. As for the other..."

Yellow lightning surrounded Laxus's fist as he slammed it to the ground. "This is weird to me... Never would I have imagined fighting someone with the same type of power as me." Shiro breathed out as him and Laxus were trying to catch their breaths.

"Same here." Laxus admitted.

Shiro closed his eyes mometarily before he reopened them and chuckled. "However, I don't think you're better than me." He claimed, raising his fist in the air as blue lightning shot up from it.

"Shall we end this here, Laxus?"

Flames came from Natsu's fist as he threw it at some guards, causing a fiery explosion. Kamika and Cosmos soon stepped in. "Their numbers just aren't decreasing!" Lucy complained.

"We're completely surrounded!" Wendy added.

"Well, we're gonna break through! We should almost be at the exit!" Natsu claimed.

"Why don't you call on a lot more Celestial Spirits?!" Happy suggested.

"We don't need 'em! Natsu-san!" Sting called out.

"Right!"

Both Natsu and Sting worked together to take out the royal guards, making Lucas sigh. "And there they go..." He mumbled as Lucy laughs nervously.

Nero coughed as he struggled to get up. "I would stay down if I were you." Minerva advised.

"I'll get up again and again. Because I made a promise to Sting that I would defeat you, and I'm a man of my word." Nero said.

Minerva activated her Magic as Nero summoned 4 Wraith versions of himself. Minerva attacked the Wraith versions of Nero before her Magic finally hit Nero himself.

"My Spatial Magic makes everything I see a target area!" Minerva informed.

"Explosions..." Millianna muttered.

"The strongest magic befits the strongest guild. Territory!" Minerva continued before she narrowed her eyes. "By the way... Weren't you a former Dark Mage? In that Dark Guild Lunar Fang? Honestly, I expected more from you. Perhaps your time in God Pegasus has made you soft."

Nero chuckled darkly as he gave Minerva a dark look. "You want to battle the old me? Fine... But don't say I didn't warn you."

"Well she just buried her grave." Izumi muttered as Rosaline nodded in agreement.

"I haven't seen that look on Nero's face since our time in Lunar Fang." She added.

Alyssa was breathing heavily. "It's getting harder..."

"I'm almost at my limit, too." Eric informed.

"Let's finish them off, Lyon!" Sherria said.

Lyon had his eyes closed. "I have no liking for harming women. But this one defeated Gray. As much as I would like to battle the one who defeated Juvia, I'll let you handle Eric." He claimed.

"Are we on that again?! You're stronger than I am, so you should just take him out with one shot! Then I'll use my Healing Magic to restore your power." Sherria claimed.

"Healing Magic?!" Eric quoted.

"I see. So that's what you've got up your sleeve." Alyssa stated.

"We didn't want to show our cards that easily." Lyon claimed.

"Lyon, just hurry up and finish them off!" Sherria shouted.

"I told you! I'm leaving Eric to you!" Lyon fired back.

"Why me?!"

"Never mind! I told you to do it, so do it!"

"It seems they don't work well together." Eric pointed out, looking at Alyssa. "What do you say we join forces and take them out?"

"Sounds like a plan." Alyssa agreed.

Shiro and Atlas were back to back once more. "Shiro!" Atlas shouted.

"I know!" Shiro shouted back.

"Dragon Slayer's Secret Art!"

"God Slayer's Secret Art!"

"And the other... is that even though they bicker constantly, Lucas is still Shiro's most trusted friend." Olga finished her former statement.

"Roaring Thunder!"

"Havoc Avatar!"

Atlas and Shiro struck Jura and Laxus in sync, knocking them out.

"Atlas and Shiro have won! They defeated Jura and Laxus! Comeback! Comeback! Comeback!" Chapati shouted as God Pegasus moved to first place.

"Laxus was defeated?!" Freed spoke in shock.

"That's Atlas and Shiro for you!" Rialle said as Kaiba just grinned.

Eric charged forward. "Frozen Revenge!" Alyssa called out, striking Lyon as he slowly freezes solid while Eric slashed at the two with Excalibur, sending them flying through the air.

"Damn you, Sherria!" Lyon shouted.

"I'm sorry!" Sherria apologized.

"Jura and Lyon have both been defeated?!" Obaba exclaimed.

"That idiot, Sherria!" Sherry scolded her younger cousin.

"I-I-I'm gonna spin!" Obaba began spinning.

"Obaba-sama, get a hold of yourself!" Sherry said.

"A-Another victory for God Pegasus! With this, they get an additional two points!" Chapati said as their point count went up.

"That brings them to 62 points-kabo!" Mato added.

"Nonsense! This is nonsense!" Minerva claimed.

"It seems Alyssa, Eric, Atlas, and Shiro have defeated their opponents." Nero spoke. "Which means its just you and Dobengal left! It's over for you, you overgrown cat!"

"Disappear!" Minerva fired her Magic towards Nero, but it ended up being a Wraith version of himself. "It can't be! How can you have this much power left?!"

"My magic is Wraith Magic, which lets me do multitude of things. Fitting for a former Dark Mage, right?" Nero mocked.

"That's Lost Magic!" Mavis exclaimed.

Minerva stepped back a bit. "D-Don't!"

"This is what you wanted, you wench!" Nero spoke, his hand turning into a Wraith.

"Stop! I... I..."

Nero teleports in front of Minerva and before she could even blink, Nero punched her in the chest, stunning her and blowing her back as she crashed onto the ground.

"It's Nero! He beat Sabertooth's leader and earned five points!" Chapati shouted, bumping God Pegasus's point count to 67. "Right now, God Pegasus has 67 points! They're strong! God Pegasus is too strong! Will they win this without one member going down?! The wizards from the other guilds are almost all out! In fact, the only one who's left is Sabertooth's Dobengal!"

Chapati shoved the microphone in Yajima's face. "Yajima-san, I think this is about over!"

"G-God Pegasus has gotten extremely close to victory." Yajima stuttered.

"Incredible-kabo!" Mato commented.

"Of course... Nero calculated this after all." Kaiba claimed.

"No more being in second place. We'll be the top dog this year." Rialle added.

"There's still one person left!"

"But what can one person do against those members?"

"That's right!"

"The pegasus's have already all but won it!"

The audience soon started chanting 'God Pegasus' over and over.

"Here it comes." Hisui informed.

"Yes."

"What's wrong?"

"Oh, it's just that score..."

"What about it?"

"Look, if Dobengal did manage to beat all five pegasus's what would happen?"

"The leader is five points, the other four are one point each, so..."

"Nine points! If Dobengal beats all five God Pegasus members, he'll get nine points!" Chapati announced. "Sabertooth would come from behind for the win! You don't think he..."

"All of the God Pegasus members are injured." Yajima pointed out.

"He intends to take them all down-kabo?!" Mato said.

"Is that what he was after?"

"Hey, I can't believe that..."

A signal flare suddenly shot up in the sky.

"I'm right here! Come and get me, God Pegasus!" Dobengal exclaimed.

All of the God Pegasus members began moving, eventually meeting Dobengal.

Soon enough, Dobengal surrendered and God Pegasus gained a point, making the members cheer. "That's it! The winner of the Grand Magic Games..." Chapati began as fireworks were shot up in the air. "...is God Pegasus!"

The audience cheered loudly as the God Pegasus members celebrated.

"Sting-kun!"

Nero turned, seeing Lector rushing over. "Lector!" He exclaimed.

"Where's Sting-kun?" Lector asked.

"Ah... He's a bit occupied with something else at the moment. He went to rescue Lucas." Nero explained, making Lector nod in understanding.

"Hey... What do you mean by he 'went to rescue Lucas'?" Atlas questioned, making Nero flinch.

"I got a shit-ton of explaining to do..." He thinks to himself.

Hisui and Darton walked down the steps. "All of the God Pegasus members undefeated and Dobengal surrendered." Darton said.

"The future no one could have guessed was foretold. My contact was correct. The future they foretold is all true. From this moment on, the battle for the survival of the human race begins. Bring Eclipse 2 a.k.a. the Eclipse Cannon to the surface!" Hisui shouted.

Fera attacked some of the guards. "About what time is it now?" He asked.

"I don't know! Probably almost night!" Lucas replied.

"I wonder if the Grand Magic Games are over." Ace said.

"Well, of course God Pegasus's a guaranteed win! So let's wrap this up!" Fera exclaimed, taking another guard down. "We gotta meet up with the Master and everyone else and tell them about Eclipse!"

A/N: I decided to not have them do a conversation with Dobengal since Sting wasn't around. But Dobengal still surrendered like Sting did in canon.

The next chapter will be a bit heart-breaking for Sting because Future Lucas sacrifices his life for Lucy :( I'm gonna be making it super angsty so be prepared.

I was asked why all my OC stories are repetitive, and the answer for that is I copy what I have already written previously. It saves me time so I won't have to rewatch the episode again. Unless it's absolutely necessary. (Ex: Sting doesn't go with the rescue team in Twilight Phoenix or Black Sun, therefore I have to watch the episode I'm on to write the chapter).
