CHAPTER FORTY-SIX: EIGHT DRAGONS
"...Sting... You've escaped death..." Future Rogue commented.
The dragon that Future Rogue was on charged forward towards the roof Sting was standing on as the dragon destroyed it. Sting landed on the dragon before charging forward at Future Rogue, who disappeared into a cloud of shadows.
Rogue soon appeared behind Sting as he fired his breath attack at him, making Sting skid on the dragon.
"Do you really think holy light like that could singe me? You're already exhausted from having several battles in a row. Struggle as you might, you have no chance of winning." Future Rogue claimed.
"Won't know that until I try!" Sting said as the dragon tried to roll him off.
He ran alongside the building before jumping up. "Shake him off." Future Rogue ordered as Sting continued climbing up. "Your efforts are in vain!"
"I'm not done yet!" Sting shouted.
"I give you points for tenacity, but that's all, Sting." Future Rogue said as Sting was trying to catch his breath. "Observe the town."
Sting saw the other dragons destroying the town as Future Rogue chuckled.
"No matter what you try to do now, you're too late. It's over." He said.
"What are you after, Rogue?!" Sting questioned.
"100977..." Doranbolt said.
"Certainly, in this situation, we may need his power." Lahar turned to Doranbolt. "But do you think we can really trust Jellal, Doranbolt?"
"I don't know. But his words are persuasive." Doranbolt replied.
"We're talking about Jellal. No one knows if he's plotting something." Lahar claimed.
"Still, at the moment, we have no choice but to believe what he says." Doranbolt said, looking at the town. "Under these circumstances..."
Ryujin stood in front of Fairy Tail. "Have all the villagers evacuated?!" Erza asked.
"Yeah, pretty much." Macao replied.
"Word is they've taken refuge in a safe place." Romeo added.
"Now we can really let loose!" Bickslow commented.
"I'll show them the glorious path of Man!" Elfman claimed.
"Eight dragons... What is this about?" Makarov wondered.
"I don't know. But right now, our top priority is getting through this crisis!" Mavis replied.
"Shouldn't we get Asuka to a safe place?" Makarov suggested.
"Aren't you scared, Asuka-chan?" Mavis asked the young girl who was in amazement, making Mavis smile. "Looking at a dragon up close at a young age... I bet not many kids get to have an experience like this. In fact, as a wizard, I'm sure this will become an immeasurably valuable asset. If it gets dangerous, I'll protect Asuka-chan. For now, let's stay here."
"Understood. I'll leave her in your care." Makarov said.
"Let's go, Juvia!" Gray exclaimed.
"Right, Gray-sama! Let's unleash an attack formed from the might of our combined love!" Juvia said.
Gray scratched his head. "All kinds of comebacks come to mind, but now isn't the time! Let's go!"
"Right!" Gray and Juvia joined hands.
"Focus!"
Gray and Juvia's magic soon combined. "Hit it hard!" Bickslow said.
"Ice Geyser!"
"Water Nebula!"
The water and ice attacked Ryujin, but he was still standing.
"It's not workin'?!" Gray exclaimed.
"I don't believe it! Even though our magic should be back to full strength!" Juvia said.
"I am Ryujin, a solar dragon. And you shall bathe in dragon light!" Ryujin spoke, getting ready to attack.
Freed swiped his sword. "Rune Magic! Nullify that attack!"
Ryujin's breath attack ruined Freed's runes, shoving everyone back as an explosion followed soon after.
"It just brushed off Freed's Rune Magic!"
"Its attacking power is unbelievable!" Macao claimed.
"And there are seven more like it?!" Wakaba added.
"Everyone, stay calm! Get back into position!" Erza said.
"Everyone okay?!" Freed asked.
"What the hell?! That dragon's no different from Acnologia!" Elfman claimed.
"I'd rather go with this one." Gray stated.
"It seems this isn't an opponent we'll be able to take down easily." Mavis said.
"Oh, come on. We still have a few trump cards." Makarov stepped forward.
"You're hit by my flames and yet live... Wizards?" Ryujin questioned.
"That's correct!" Makarov replied.
"Master!"
"You're going to do that magic?"
Makarov released a golden magical aura. "I see. He still had this. One giant to fell another." Macao commented.
"He can put up a fight now that they're the same size!" Wakaba added.
"Awesome! I haven't seen this in a long time!" Romeo exclaimed.
Makarov soon used his Giant Magic. "We're not just wizards! We're comrades who are tied together..." He charged forward. "...by the bond of family!"
Makarov's fist met with Ryujin's head, who released a bright light from his body, burning Makarov's hand.
"Master's attack..."
"...didn't work?!"
"It can't be..." Romeo muttered.
"No matter how much power you possess, you can't beat a dragon." Ryujin said as he attacked Makarov and the rest.
"Kitten Blast!" Millianna shouted, attacking the dragon as her attack bounced off.
"No good. Unfortunately, our magic is no match for that." Hibiki claimed.
"So frustrating!" Millianna complained.
"Back up, people. I don't want to see a woman getting hurt." Lyon said.
"That last bit pisses me off! You pulled your punches when we fought too, didn't you?!" Millianna exclaimed.
"That was nothing more than a match. We're going into a serious battle now." Lyon placed his fists together. "Ice-Make: Snow Dragon!"
"I see! One dragon pitted against another dragon!" Hibiki said.
Obaba was spinning around. "That's my Lyon! I'm gonna spin 'round more and more and more!"
"There's more! Ice-Make: Ape!" Lyon shouted. "Ice-Make: Snow Tiger!"
"Three forms simultaneously. That's the skill we saw during the Tag Battle." Kagura commented.
"This looks promising." Jura added.
"Quite right, although this didn't help me win in my match against you." Lyon reminded.
Jura hopped onto the ice ape. "I'm using it! Kagura-dono! Let's go!"
Kagura hopped onto the ice dragon. "Right behind you!"
Lastly, Lyon hopped onto the ice tiger. "Better not leave me behind!"
"Even if this sword is shattered, I shall fight! Receive the blade of Archenemy!" Kagura shouted.
"I'll show you my power!" Jura said.
"In the name of my master, Ul, I shall not be defeated!" Lyon claimed.
Jura, Lyon, and Kagura leaped into the air. "Kagura! Jura! Lyon! A triple attack by a trio of big guns! This could actually work!" Hibiki stated.
The three of them attacked in sync, striking the dragon but their attacks bounced right back at them.
The Dragon then destroyed the ice animals. Jura, Lyon, and Kagura landed on the ground.
"It didn't have any effect at all, Kagura-chan!" Millianna pointed out.
"Still, we can't afford to back off!" Kagura informed, raising her sword.
"We'll attack again and again!" Jura added.
"We still have any number of plays left!" Lyon claimed.
"They're making a ruckus over there, too. As long as they put up a good fight..." Elexion laughed.
"Elexion..." Wendy mumbled.
"We talked to this guy when he was a ghost before..." Happy reminded.
"I guess even back then, he talked too much." Lucy commented.
"I don't just demolish and go on a rampage like the others. I'm the type that enjoys a good conversation. Well, I guess, I'm intelligent and possess refined taste, you could say. Look at you people with with your terrified faces. Am I that scary? If you want to escape, you'd better do it now. Although I'll pursue and devour you..." Elexion ranted.
Wendy stepped forward. "E-Elexion!"
"What is it, young lady? You wish to talk to me?"
"What is it you're after?! Why are all of you doing this?!" Wendy asked.
"Why? Ask the ones over there. The one that's flying, Motherglare... The little man riding on top is dishing out orders." Elexion replied.
"You mean the Rogue-san that came from the future." Wendy said.
"Well, I'm doing what he says because it's fun in its own way."
"I don't understand. What purpose do you have in doing this?" Lucy questioned. "If dragons destroy the world, there'll be no place for you either!"
Magic Council Headquarters, Era...
"Thank you for your patience, Doranbolt-sama."
"You didn't tell anyone, did you?" Doranbolt asked.
"N-No..."
"100977 is over here." Doranbolt stated.
"Right. But doing something like this without permission is..."
"You know what's going on out there, don't you?" Doranbolt questioned. "This isn't time to jump through the official hoops. I'll take responsibility."
"That's easy for you to say, but..."
Doranbolt turned around and punched the Council messenger in the stomach.
"What are you...?"
"My apologies. Right now, every second counts." Doranbolt claimed.
Doranbolt finally stopped at a cell that was labeled '100977'.
"Prisoner 100977, I presume?" Doranbolt asked.
"It's you, eh? I thought I recognized your voice."
"So this is a dragon's destructive power... It's a spectacle worth remembering." Rufus said.
"Perfect! Atlas took me out right away during our battle, so I didn't get to run amok then! Here's where I make up for it, and then some!" Orga exclaimed. "Lightning God's Charged Particle Cannon!"
Orga attacked the dragon. "Memory Make! Frozen Black Lightning Sword!" Rufus shouted.
Both Orga and Rufus attacked the dragon.
Bella had her bow in her hands, an arrow aimed at the dragon. A light green Magic Circle with a tree design in the middle appeared in front of her before she called out, "Homing Shot!"
"Requip!" Olga shouted. "Blow Gunner!"
Olga and Bella's attacks combined, firing at the dragon and causing an explosion.
"Did you get it?" Rosaline asked.
The dust cleared, showing that the dragon was still standing and not a mark was on it.
"Damn... That wasn't enough power to take it out?" Bella questioned.
"Do you remember when I said that dragons ruled the world seven years from now? Except those aren't the dragons that came through the portal..." Future Rogue spoke.
"You mean not the ones who are raisin' hell right now?" Sting asked.
"That's right. The name of the ruler is Acnologia. Just one dragon dominates the world seven years from now."
"Acnologia..."
"Fighting wizards and guilds don't exist then. The surviving humans feel terror every day of their lives. I devised the secret art of controlling dragons, but it didn't work on Acnologia." Future Rogue said as Sting tensed, recalling how him and present-day Rogue bragged to Natsu about how they could easily take down Acnologia.
"I was way over my head back then." Sting thinks to himself. "Tch, this is where Luke would have his 'I told you so' moment."
"Already, the one thing that can defeat Acnologia is another dragon!" Future Rogue exclaimed.
Motherglare crashed into a building. "Is that why you summoned the dragons?!" Sting asked.
"That's right! I came to this period from seven years in the future. To persuade Princess Hisui to open the Eclipse portal... I intended to bring forth many more dragons than these, but that insolent Lucy foiled my plan. Still, all of the dragons that did appear are under my orders. Against my Dragon Control Magic, not even Acnologia stands a chance! I'll defeat Acnologia, then become the Dragon King myself!"
"You...!"
Sting leaped up and tried to attack Future Rogue, who dodged.
"I'll become the ruler. The very idea sends tingles down my spine." Future Rogue said.
"You smell like... eight dragons..." Sting stated.
"Eight is plenty! With them alone, I can make the world mine!" Future Rogue claimed.
Sting chuckled. "Your brain must've fried over the past seven years, because you're forgetting one important detail." He said.
"What?"
"Kagura! Are you hurt?!" Lyon asked in worry.
"Don't worry about that! I can still fight!" Kagura replied.
Obaba was spinning. "I can still spin-spin-spin-spin!"
"My comrade, Sherria, can use Healing Magic! Come forward if you're injured!" Jura announced.
"Hey, isn't there some way we can take them down?" Millianna asked Hibiki.
"I'm looking into that right now! But I think Dragon Slayer Magic is the only thing that can beat a dragon." Hibiki replied.
"It looks like there's no way to fight them other than with Dragon Slayer Magic." Nero commented.
"Yeah. And we've got a Dragon Slayer here. Shiro." Atlas said.
Makarov dropped to the ground.
"Master!"
"Are you okay?!" Bickslow asked.
"Hang in there!" Romeo said.
"Don't worry! Just got burned a bit." Makarov reassured.
"Master's attacks hit, but didn't do any damage." Juvia pointed out.
"What can we do to beat a monster like that?" Freed questioned.
"First Master! You're the Genius General, right? Don't you have a plan?!" Gray asked.
"I do. There are eight dragons. And I'm sure a number of the others have realized the same thing." Mavis replied.
"What is your plan?!" Erza questioned.
"I'm forgetting one important detail? What do you mean?" Future Rogue asked.
Sting smirked, covering his fist in holy light before slamming it down on Motherglare and causing a huge light explosion.
"What are you...?!"
"Can you hear me?! Dragon Slayer Magic can down the dragons!" Sting shouted as Future Rogue covered his ears.
"Sting's voice!" Lucas exclaimed.
"Sting-kun!" Lector shouted.
"Sting!" Rogue added.
"We've got nine Dragon Slayers here! And eight dragons! Our magic exists for this very day! Dragon Slayers exist to fight this very battle!" Sting continued.
"Bastard!" Future Rogue exclaimed.
Sting leaped into the air. "Who's with me? Because I'm going dragon hunting!" He concluded as he sent another blast of holy light on Motherglare.
"Nine people? Aren't you miscounting?" Future Rogue questioned.
"There's one more on his way..." Sting replied.
Doranbolt dropped to the ground, trying to catch his breath. "I'm sorry it was such a long distance." Lahar apologized.
"It's okay. I brought him. Along with someone else." Doranbolt reassured.
"Dragons are attacking the city." Lahar informed.
Two people stood next to each other, with a female Exceed flying above them.
"Yes. I can hear them."
"Against our better judgment, we want your help." Doranbolt said.
"I hear you loud and clear, Sting." Akame spoke, with Cobra and Chii at his side.
A/N: For those of you who are confused - I had forgotten I placed Akame in God Pegasus for this book, so just ignore that and pretend he was traveling. And second, Sting was referring to Akame when he said 'nine Dragon Slayers' as he doesn't know about Cobra. But with Cobra, it's technically ten Dragon Slayers. I also changed Akame to a Second Generation inside of First Generation (because I don't want to complicate things for the Tartaros Arc).
Yeah, I change a lot of things while I'm writing. I apologize.
Sorry for the wait. I was without a computer mouse for like, a week, so I couldn't publish anything.
Thanks for reading!
