Thousands of thoughts flashed through Neil's mind, among which was the idea simply to grab Candy, get into the car and press the gas, but there were the others thoughts, for example, to offer a cup of tea with an unperturbed look. But none of these ideas seemed appropriate, and he just watched in confusion the hateful man approached them.
For a jealous man, it was so terrible and painful to see the object of his jealousy so close to the subject of his love that Neil simply did not know what to do.
This actor was approaching and yes, it was fair to admit that his face was all the same cute, and these long hair - like women wear – was still fluttering in the wind. He was dressed the same vulgar and pretentious clothes, which, of course, was supposed to attract the female sex. Damn!
Damn, damn, damn!
Terry, approaching them, also felt increasingly growing confusion. He rushed here to save the woman that promised to become happy. He rode, ran and prayed that it would not be too late, he thought that Candy was in trouble, but now, when he was already very close to her, he felt that something was wrong.
She somehow elusively changed, and it was not even that she no longer had a customary hairstyle - two tails, and not even that her face was different, more adult, and not even in her figure that has lost teenage angularity. There was something completely different.
Surprise on the faces of Candy and Legan made them look alike, and then, as they turned to each other and met their eyes, as if asking some question clear only for them or seeking support in each other, which could only be between people who were really close to each other, which, of course, was bewildering in regard to Neil and Her...
That was why Terence, as he approached, felt increasingly insecure. He drove here, driving the speed out of the car, and vividly imagining how he would break into the mansion of Andrew, as in the lair of a giant cannibal, fight the Neil and save Candy, but now...
Candy and Neil was looking at him, her green eyes and his brown eyes, the girl's face was so pale that her freckles became even more noticeable, and Legan's tanned cheeks went stained.
Granchester stopped, and Candy looked down. Her long eyelashes cast shadows on her delicate cheeks. There was a ringing silence in the air.
'I propose not to make a scene within sight of my mother and grandmother,' Neil said quietly.
Terry followed his gaze and grinned.
'I think, the scene is already on.'
'You're wrong. We're just leaving.'
The silence fell. Daniel unclenched his hand, holding the handle of the suitcase, and walked closer to his enemy.
'Let's go into the garden.'
The young actor nodded, but could not take his eyes off Candy.
Neil turned and looked at the girl.
'Candy...' He started, but suddenly she looked up and, without taking her eyes off Neil, said quickly, 'I won't go. I need to go to my room.'
She backed away and, turning around, ran up the stairs to the house.
The men looked after her until she disappeared into the doorway.
'Why does not she looks at me?! Why did she run away?!' Terry asked himself.
'Yes, that's right. She's got nothing to do with us,' thought Neal. 'I'll figure it out by myself. Damn, I had to say to her: 'Go to your room,' but she said it herself. Nerd!'
Daniel and Terrus silently walked along the paths, neatly sprinkled with gravel and were silent. This silence became unbearable, and Neil kicked one of the pebbles with a toe of a boot.
'Well, let's start!'
'Start what?'
'Well, something like 'What did you do to her?' or 'What are you blackmailing her with?', in your different versions.'
The blue eyes flashed.
'And you really did nothing to her?!'
'Of course not!'
But suddenly, Neil looked away, and blood rushed to his face. Did he do something to her?! Yes, hell, he did! He caressed her yesterday, kissed her breasts, entered her, made her belonged to him...
Terry looked at him in perplexity, and some vague idea pierced his brain.
He grabbed Neil by the shoulder, but he dropped his hand and told quickly.
'Listen, this irritates me. I have serious intentions for her. We will soon get married. I have never felt so disgusting as since I announced the engagement, as everyone considers it their duty to interrogate me about my personal life. I'm not going to answer these questions, after all, I'm not an actor! What could be unclear - there is a man and a woman, they are going to get married?! Since the bride is an orphan, I asked exclusively her opinion, or maybe I should ask you for blessings? It sounds funny, don't you think so?'
'Pretty much.'
Something was wrong. Terry seemed that his strength oozed away, if Candy was around, he could save her, but now, during this strange conversation, he felt that he had arrived in vain.
Neil turned, and this time he met the Granchester's glance of scrutiny.
'If you really wish her well, then you'd better to get off her back.'
