By the time I woke up they were still in the process of putting out the fires.
No one expected such a large-scale attack.
In any other circumstances it would cause a war to break out. However the nin all had no marking of affiliation.
Our village that had a population of a little over a hundred, now only had fifteen or so adults and a half a dozen children.
Once the fires were put out the shinobi from the guard tower left, saying they ordered a team to come for assistance in cleanup.
After digging through the remains of Attakai's collapsed tea shop I found my money untouched and my spare clothes covered in ash but undamaged otherwise.
The survivors decided to join the caravan to head to the various villages to resettle.
After a genin team arrived the following day, they helped sort out the bodys for people to claim and bury them in a mass grave if left unclaimed or unidentifiable.
I know that this was a planned attack.
They had a Captain, and went after Attakai's in particular, likely for information.
How would I explain how I survived if I was to tell them what I overheard?
It's best to keep my mouth shut.
After all that's what I am good at apparently.
The survivors banded together with the caravan but I feel like I would be rather unwelcome to join.
After going to identify the bodys I saw Reku.
His eyes were full of darkness and his voice with spite.
He asked me why I survived and his family didn't.
He wasn't looking for an answer. I could see it in his eyes. So I kept silent.

After the caravan left I picked over the houses left behind, Finding small amounts of food and yen to add to my stockpile- as well as a few red yukata with floral patterns stained with ash that is just my size- I try not to think that the child who owned these is likely dead now as I add it to my bag.
My own tea shop uniform is in tatters, singed by the fire and the white sleeves stained with blood and ash.
With my bag quickly getting heavy I decide it is time to leave.
I go to a nearby river and wash out my new clothes before setting them to dry before cleaning my own body in the river.
After my clothes are dried I change into the now clean set while bundling the two spare sets and tucking them neatly into my bag.
I wash the teashop uniform as well , too tattered to be considered clothes , but is intact enough to hold my belongings with the use of a few expert ties I know from my previous world.
Now with two bags to hold my things I double back to the edge of the village.
Entering the now abandoned bakery that used to be Rin's favourite.
The bread and treats sit behind the counter untouched, I guess with this being the area hit by the enemies first there was no one to claim the items left behind.
For a moment I feel guilty at the thought of looting this place, remembering the kind middle aged baker's smile whenever I bought stuff with Rin.
But the dead have no use for material items- unless you count myself as I technically was dead once?
Pushing in the half-door separating the customer area of the bakery from the back- I open the displays of bread, only taking the freshest so that it might last me longer, avoiding anything containing meat.
I make an offhanded note to visit the butchers to look for jerky but think again remembering that one of the owners' kids survived , as well as the fact the building was burnt to ash.
Grabbing a few Taiyaki I stuff them in my mouth as I finish packing the bread into my bag.
Picking the register lock is easy compared to the locks in my old life- skills I didn't think would come in handy when I learned them.
The register is by far the largest haul of yen I've gotten so far-it would nearly doubling my own stock.
My heart sinks at the sight of the yen I used to buy the Taiyaki the day of the raid still remains in the register.
Taking it all I realise this will make me a huge target for robbers if all this money is visible.
Folding the bills into a neat roll and padding the coins so they don't jingle I look towards the sun to find north. I know that following the road will lead to the next village- where I can likely ask for directions to Konaha.
From there I follow along the path, keeping a bit to the forest.
I have a long walk ahead of me.
—-
It takes me five days to reach the next village and by the time I do most my bread is gone, what remains is so hard I fear losing my baby teeth in an attempt to eat it.
Not making the mistake of wandering into a village again smelling like a dead badger, I romp through a stream, clothes and all, to wash the smell off myself, and manage to catch a fish for myself.
Over the past few days I have been forced to eat many raw fish. Not knowing any ninja magic or having a lighter to make fire to cook it was a difficult choice.
But after the second day of eating raw fish and not getting sick I take this as a safe food source; maybe it comes from the fact my mother descended from the land of water where they mainly eat fish, or maybe it is the crazy ninja genetics and superpowers that heal me within minutes of getting hurt.
Ending that line of thought; I walk into the village.
The next village is tiny in comparison to Chochin.
Barely thirty people live in this village. It doesn't even have a name.
But it does have a couple of elders who are old and bored enough to point a six year old in the direction of Konoha, which I am grateful for.
But the bad news is because It is a hidden village I have to go through the forest to meet a path that leads to it, which is understandable because it wouldn't be very hidden if any random civilian could happen upon it.
I grit my teeth before using my coin yen and a single bill- being careful not to show too much wealth as to make myself a target. I purchase meat jerky and soft bread from the village before making my way into the forest.
—-
I am in the forest for five days before I admit how lost I am.
Sticking to a shallow stream for food and water I feel like I am going in circles.
My latest attempts at fishing resulted in a deep gash on my shin, courtesy of sharp river rocks and their accomplice; slippery river rocks.
So that leads up to me being here, feeling my own chakra wash over my wound while sitting on the riverbed. Trying not to scream so as to not attract predators.
I bite my wrist to try and muffle my own sobs, the gash is rather deep and the accelerated healing feels like a hot iron.
As I bite myself the healing seems to speed up even more, but less painfully so.
" The hell?" I whisper to myself.
Before it occurs to me.
The uzumaki bloodline, healing bite.
Seeing as I am female I might have chakra chains too.
I still don't understand the logic that I am self healing but biting myself makes me heal faster.
But I won't deny the fact that it is useful.
A useful way to end up in a snake-teme's lab that is.
The muscle has almost finished healing and the skin starts to meld together when I see it.
A body floating down the deeper part of the stream, face up.
It is three seconds later I recognize the body by its chakra signature that I haven't felt in over a year.
"Shi!" I scream as I waddle into the stream and pull him ashore.
There is a deep gash across his back and both his eyes are sunk in and bleeding- or rather missing.
It was at this moment I realised who Shi was.
Shisui Uchiha
Whose death is a catalyst to the Uchiha massacre.
But this is also Shi, the same Shi who watched over my sad attempts at training and called me a brat for showing attitude to him despite him being a trained government soldier.
I feel several chakra signatures approach along the river.
Root.
Of course, they wouldn't just let him go, they still think he had his second sharingan.
His chakra signature is almost undetectable at this point, so I scrape together a plan.
Pulling Shisui into a bush, I pull my chakra away from my leg to stop the healing, letting my blood form a trail over his own leading from the river.
Sitting as close to the bush as possible I try to look pathetic and ignorant, while making my own chakra shake attempt to cover the flickers of Shisui's and make myself appear scared while gripping my hands around my leg to make them more bloody.
I feel the signatures approach and stop at the sight of the blood trail.
They linger for a moment watching me, seeming to calculate the chance.
After what feels like hours but in reality was barely ten seconds the signatures move on.
Once the root nin were far enough away, twice the distance I had been when I felt the attackers on my village, using that as a judgement for safety I pulled Shisui out of the bush.
He is dying. A part of me reasons that even if he survived he will be blind.
Madara fought blind.
But that was Madara.
Letting my chakra finish healing my leg in seconds I make a decision.
I open Shisui's mouth and put my wrist in.
I force his jaw down and I feel a drain on my chakra.
Slowly I feel his chakra become stronger and his face regains colour, his eyes no longer look so sunken.
In a jolt Shisui rolls to his side, suddenly conscious and starts coughing up water.
My own chakra is nearly bottomed out, I can feel my hair colour seal failing, but the other seal seems to stay intact, having enough chakra stored to keep functioning.
Shisui finishes coughing.
His eyelids flutter up and what I see shocks me.
His eyes are back.
The same deep charcoal black as before.
My heart pounds in my chest and I tackle him in a hug.
" Shi!" I grab his shirt sobbing, He doesn't fight back, likely too weak to do so.
He stares at me for a moment seemingly confused. Likely due to my hair colour changing.
"Enkai? What the hell?" He says before bursting into another fit of coughs at the remaining water in his airways.
I assume he identified me using my chakra.
I should probably explain.
"I found you in the river, I pulled you out and healed you." I say nervously.
He blinks at me as if to explain more.
"I made you bite me, it heals people. I dunno how; it just does okay!"
His eyes flicked to my hair and then to the bite mark on my wrist.
I let him come to his own conclusion of me being part uzumaki; these features being a lesser known part of the bloodline but a prodigy like himself would have these things memorised.
"And your hair?" He says wanting me to finish explaining
" I dunno, it just does that when I am tired sometimes." I play ignorance again.
He stares at me for a moment before huffing with a slight smirk.
" Kid you have no idea how much danger you are in now."
Oh I do , I just can't tell you I do.
"Good news is those after me will be looking for a half blind teenager near death's edge, Not a fully abled teenage nin." he follows before ruffling my hair, a needless action but he almost just died so I won't complain.
"What?" I say in my most ``are you crazy?' voice I can muster.
" Nothing you need to worry about, anyways what are you doing out here in the middle of nowhere." Shisui says with slight suspicion, A fair trait of anyone who spies and kills for a living.
"Well I was going to Konoha!"
" With no adults?"
"Well" I remember Rin and tears come to my eyes "Almost everyone died, my village got attacked"
"Hmm, I guess there isn't any helping that." Shisui seems to get a thoughtful look on his face.
Shisui clears his throat before raising his hand and pointing at me in theatrics.
" How about this; I'll help you get to the village closest to the gate, but you have promise not to tell anyone you met me, got it?"
His hand shifts from pointing into a pinky promise offer.
I swallow, understanding the deal. "Got it Shi-nii!" I say as I wrap my picky around his own and we shake.
I close my eyes and laugh at the absurdity of this all.
AN: My parents didn't make me do a ton of work today so I managed to write this chapter… again trying to make a sibling relationship but idk how so meh :)
