Meanwhile, Kass led Flayn and her friends to where Farosh had directed them to go.
"The Spring of Courage," Kass presented.
The Spring of Courage was hidden inside the ruins of a statue of a dragon's head, probably Farosh's. In the midst of the spring, there was a statue of a woman, presumably Farore.
Flayn tightly held the scale of Farosh in her hands. She had to admit, being in this place made her nervous. What if Farore withheld her blessing?
She turned to look at her companions. Monica seemed lost in thought, but the rest gave her encouraging smiles, or in Hubert's case, a smile that was probably meant to be encouraging.
She took a deep breath and waded into the spring, to where the statue was. She placed the scale on the pedestal in front of the statue.
"Cethleann," she felt a voice speak directly into her mind. "Or Flayn, if you prefer. You have come to seek my blessing."
"Yes," Flayn thought.
"Your decision to trust your friends with your family's secret was a decision that took great courage," Farore's voice spoke to her. "It is a decision that may yet save a great many lives."
"My decision? Wizzro forced me to reveal my identity," Flayn protested.
"And yet, when you agreed to bring them with you, you knew you would not be able to keep your secret," Farore told her. "I will give you my blessing, and with it, a gift of truth. As of this moment, your father and great-aunt are alive, and in no danger of dying."
"Really?" Flayn asked, elated.
"Your choice to share your secret may have saved their lives—or perhaps they would have lived regardless. The future was not yet written. But should you prevail against Ganon, you may yet be able to return to them."
Tears of joy ran down Flayn's face. "Thank you."
The voice went silent, and Flayn suddenly realized she felt stronger and healthier than she had in a long time.
"Judging by the fact that the water was glowing, I assume you received Farore's blessing?" Linhardt asked.
"I did," Flayn confirmed. "And she told me that my family is alive and not in danger of dying soon. She says we might be able to return home after we defeat Ganon."
The others reacted to that with joy—except for Monica, who seemed to be even more contemplative.
A secret door opened, revealing a Shrine. "I assume the Spirit Orb there is for you," Linhardt said to Flayn.
"Actually, can I fetch it for her?" Monica asked. "I have some things on my mind, and I want to talk to the shrine monk. Alone."
Flayn was confused, but she saw no reason not to let Monica fetch the orb. Soon, the Ochs heiress was riding the elevator down into the Shrine.
Kronya was full of thoughts. One was that she had to keep Flayn from returning to Fódlan. It wasn't safe for her there. The other Agarthans wouldn't know that Flayn would have saved them from certain doom. They would kill her, or be wiped out in the attempt.
She tried to think of something she could do, but couldn't come up with any ideas. But maybe the monk could tell her what to do.
(Somehow, it didn't occur to her to just let Flayn die.)
She walked up to where the shrine monk was seated, and touched the barrier separating her from him.
"Kronya of Shambhala," the monk's voice spoke to her mind. "You come seeking insight."
"Yes," Kronya confirmed.
"Had I been the one to choose the hero's companions, I would not have chosen you," the monk said. "But for all the darkness in your soul, there was a spark of potential within it. A spark that your time in Hyrule has fanned. Had you not been brought here, you would have died a pointless death serving an empire destined to be crushed beneath humanity's boot. But here, your fate may be different."
"Hold on, what?" Kronya asked. "I don't understand. What do you mean?"
"Your life would have been sacrificed to serve your people's dreams of conquest," the monk told her. "Dreams that never would have come to fruition. The future was not yet written in full, but there was and is no possibility that your people would have prevailed. The only thing in the balance was how much damage they would have caused before being broken, and whether they would have been subjugated or eradicated."
No possibility of victory? Only subjugation or eradication? That couldn't be! "You lie!"
"I do not," the shrine monk promised. "Your people will be the conquered, not the conquerors."
Kronya looked at her hands. They were shaking. "But they haven't already been conquered...have they?"
"They have not," the monk answered. "Thales has a few years left to rule. But his rule will come to an end soon."
"Is there anything I can do?" Kronya asked.
"Perhaps," the monk said. "Your people will never rule the surface. But they may yet be permitted to live in the sun."
Kronya latched onto that. "Tell me what I need to do! Please!"
"Give up your pride," the monk said.
Give up her pride? Did that mean she needed to ask the primitives for help? Beg Flayn to convince Seiros and Cichol to show her people mercy? She didn't know.
"Take this Spirit Orb to Flayn," the monk said.
"All right," Kronya agreed, taking the Spirit Orb.
When Monica returned to her companions, she gave the Spirit Orb to Flayn. "Here you go." The Spirit Orb flowed into Flayn's body.
"Did the monk tell you what you needed to hear?" Linhardt asked.
"...Maybe," Monica said, unsure of herself. "I still need to think about what he said. Figure out what he meant."
Everyone looked at her, but she didn't say anything more.
"It's okay. You don't have to tell us anything until you're ready," Flayn told her.
"So, I suppose we should be meeting back up with the others now," Linhardt said.
"Can you not say anything about...what you learned about me...to the others yet?" Flayn asked. "I'll tell them myself, I just...want to figure out how to tell them first."
Everyone seemed to agree except for Hubert. "There are no secrets between me and Lady Edelgard, Flayn. There never have been."
"I get that, I just...I want to tell her myself, Hubert," Flayn asked. "Please?"
Hubert looked her in the eyes and sighed. "Very well. I will give you time to tell her yourself, but I advise you do it soon."
Flayn nodded. "I will try."
Linhardt called Link, and Link answered. "Linhardt. Did Flayn find what she was looking for?"
"She did," Linhardt told him. "Where can we meet you?"
"Most of the company is at Foothill Stable, near the Mo'a Keet Shrine," Link told him. "We'll meet there."
"And I think that is a good place to stop for now," Flayn said.
"Good. I'm getting hungry," Raphael said.
With that, everyone went to get something to eat.
