The sun had just begun to set as the battle came to an end. Yang looked at her own hands in anguish. Scarlatti was dead, Hestia knocked unconscious, and Noah and Santiago all tied up.
As team SLR discussed the next steps, the blonde brawler looked down, barely paying attention to those around her. The horse-tailed huntsman was right beside her, trying to reassure her.
"It's okay. I know what you did was hard, but ultimately you did the right thing." Evan said to her.
Her eyes watered. "I didn't mean to kill Scarlatti. Hurt her, definitely. Maybe breaking bones at the worst. But murder?" Tears fell. "Am I any better than those who framed me?"
"...We've dismantled the tyrant. Now what?" Atum asked, speaking over Yang and ignoring her.
"We have a difficult choice to make this hour. But bear in mind how kings of yore came to power." Apollo began. "They won their kingdoms through war and strife. Invaders and rebellions were part of life. Today, this still holds true. So let me ask this of you; are kings and queens bad? Or is it only when they go astray that the world goes sad?" He gestured to himself, Surya and Atum. "We are good people, us three. If we were to rule, good rulers we would be."
"Apollo's right. Kings and Queens themselves aren't bad. It's when power goes to their heads." Atum reasoned. "Even then, I don't think all three of us could be kings over Aquarian at the same time."
"What would Orville do, if he was here? Would he even want this kind of power?" Surya asked his teammates.
Apollo looked like he was going to say something, but soon sirens were heard. The authorities had arrived at the scene. An imitating police officer was the first to step out of the vehicle.
"Police chief Fierro." Surya identified.
There were four other officers as well.
"I've been told that there has been a major fight occurring at city hall." Fierro spoke.
"That is correct; Mayor Scarlatti and her bodyguards have been defeated." Surya answered.
"And who is responsible for this revolution?"
"Us four, officers." he gestured to his teammates and Yang.
The police chief looked at Scarlatti's corpse. "What happened to her?"
"Well..."
Before he could finish, a black car drove up, and a man with blue eyes, pale skin and black hair exited the vehicle. He was dressed formally and had a grave demeanor.
"And who are you?"
"I am the town coroner; Angelo Bleu. Pleasure to make your acquaintance, officer."
The police chef looked at him in astonishment. "Angelo Bleu? As in, father of Vega Bleu, former student of Pharos Academy and current student at Atlas?"
"Yes, but this is not the time to brag about my daughter. I was notified that we have a death that occurred during the revolution to take city hall back."
"That is correct, former Mayor Garnet Scarlatti is no longer with us." Evan answered.
One of the officers whispered to Angelo, "Start investigating the body."
"And who is responsible for this death?" Chief Fierro asked.
There was silence as Yang came forth. "It was me. I had no intention to kill her, but despite my intentions or lack thereof, it still happened."
"So what happened?" one of the other police officers asked. "Why is Scarlatti dead?"
"She... tried to flee when her bodyguard team began to dissolve. I found her in the hallway, and fired at her with the bullets from my weapon, Ember Celica." She tried to keep her composure. "They struck the lower part of her spine and may have even broken it. She did not die immediately, but seems to have died from gradual blood loss."
"Mr. Bleu, is what the blonde girl saying line up with your observations?"
"That appears to be the case." Angelo carefully positioned her to her side and saw what stuck out in her back. "Her bone is even sticking out of her spine."
Yang grimaced. "How bad is it? Legal wise?"
The police chief grimaced. "Under normal circumstances, this would be classified as second-degree murder at worst, or in rare cases, as involuntary manslaughter at best. Either way, in most cases, you would be going to jail."
Her left arm shook, forcing her to place it behind her. "I know I have violated the law, and there is no excuse for bloodshed. If I be honest, I never intended to be the vigilante heroine of Aquarian. I had no idea of Scarlatti's terrors, and I originally had no intention of ever fighting against her or her guards."
"Then why did you join team SOLR? Or whatever remains of them?" a second officer asked.
"The guards at the front west entrance attacked me, simply because they know I'm friends with Pyrrha and her team. That, and they probably believed the lie that I intentionally attacked Mercury Black during the tournament, not realizing I was framed by Emerald Sustrai..."
The police chief froze. "Sustrai? That name... That cursed name."
Yang looked at the police chief. "Is something wrong? You look pale."
"Urdin Sustrai was a criminal that tricked my predecessor, Police Chief Wilde, into letting him go. He was responsible for assault on a woman, who, out of respect, we will not name."
"You mean Esmeralda Ozpin?" Atum asked.
The chief glared at him. "How do you know this?"
"She told us her tale before deserting the Trojan Alliance, hopefully to get help."
The second officer asked those around them, "Do you really think that someone who claimed to be a foreign exchange student from Haven is the daughter of an infamous criminal?"
"That's not outside the realm of possibility." a third officer, a woman answered, answered.
"If Emerald truly is Urdin's daughter, and she inherited his power, then I can see how she used it to trick Yang and Pyrrha."
"You may be absolving her of assault, but you can not pardon murder!" Noah exclaimed.
The chief glared at him. "Quiet you!" He paused and thought to himself before turning back to Yang. "Let me ask you this, if we let you go, without any time or fines, where would you go? What would you do?"
"There are two goals I set out to do. Well, maybe three. The first goal, find my birth mother in Anima and get answers as to why she abandoned me. Second, and more importantly, find my younger sister Ruby and help her and her friends in their quest as best as I can. Third, sooner or later, become a huntress. With Beacon... I don't know if... or when, it will happen. I feel awful about this. Huntresses and trainees are supposed to be heroes, but why do I feel like a villain?"
"Becoming a huntress?" the fourth one asked. "Wouldn't that be impossible after being expelled from Beacon?"
"I was not expelled from Beacon for attacking Mercury, even though I was disqualified from the tournament." A flashback of her charging towards Adam and losing most of her right arm was seen. "But Beacon still fell..."
There was a moment of silence as the police officers thought to themselves.
"Hmmm... Under normal law, Yang Xiao-Long would be arrested. Possibly even team SLR as well. However, Miss Xiao-Long has been nothing but honest and cooperative with the police, admitting her wrongdoing, guilt and feelings thereof. She also took out someone who was really a horrible person. She will also have to live with that guilt for the rest of her life. Not to mention Scarlatti is dead, and she has no kin, or any trusted advisors to assume position in case of murder. So at this point, we're either going to have anarchy run rampant in Aquarian or have the victors claim rule over the city. Surya Arun," The leader looked up. "will you and your allies take the reins of leadership?"
"We will."
Atum and Evan both asked, "We will?"
"Very well then. Team SLR and Yang are pardoned." Fierro declared.
Noah glared at the cops. "You're really not going to arrest her?! She deserves prison, if not worse!"
"You have the right to remain silent, Noah Sable. Anything you say-"
"-can and will be used against me." he interjected. "Yeah, yeah I know my rights."
"Noah, you're making this worse." Santiago said.
The team leader groaned. "Everyone's a critic."
"What about the horse?" the fourth officer asked. "Or horse faunus I should say."
"Evan Eachann?" Fierro called.
"Yes, Officer?"
"Are you a member of team SSEA (Sea)?"
He couldn't look the officers in their eyes. "Well, I was. But I left them and the Trojan Alliance behind after Anastasia ran away and realized that I could not serve Scarlatti anymore. I knew she was horrible when she asked for the former Scarlatti, now Spartan Alliance, to be burned alive."
"I see. So why did you leave the team? What made you realize that you couldn't stay anymore?"
The horse faunus answered, "Anastasia left the team, and I believed that I should do the same. Her words had an impact on me."
Evan cleared his throat and recited; "Do you not realize what you're doing?! We're hurting the innocent! The former Scarlatti Alliance did nothing wrong! I know Pyrrha's innocent, and that Yang was framed! I knew all along, but I only stayed here because I thought I was doing the right thing! But this?! Reinforcing tyranny and burning opposition alive?! This is not what being a huntsman is about! If this is what being a huntress is, then I want no part of it!"
Everyone was left in silence for a moment or two. "Those... are some powerful words." Angelo said.
"You traitor!" Noah yelled.
The blonde brawler turned to him. "Evan? May I ask you something?"
"I guess."
Yang turned to the horse-tailed faunus. "You could have run away, like your teammate Anastasia did. Why didn't you? Why did you stay?"
"Anastasia has wanted to leave this team for a long time. She hasn't seen her parents in ten years, and because of Noah's leadership and guilt-tripping her into staying with the team with his semblance, she hasn't been able to meet her little sister." Yang softly gasped in sorrow. Evan continued. "Mistral is her home, but now my family lives here. My hometown was destroyed, and they were forced to trade their safe, homey village for a socially and politically toxic waste mine. Rebuilding this city on a social and political scale is not going to be an easy task, but someone has to clean up. And if I don't help, then who will?"
Fierro nodded. "I see. Evan Eachann- Can you say that you were coerced or manipulated in any way while employed by Garnet Scarlatti?"
"Yes, because of Noah's semblance."
"And what is his semblance?"
"The ability to turn emotional pain into physical pain. He refers to it as 'Cutdown'. He used it against team SOLR, and tried to do the same to Yang during the battle. He has also used it on both me and Anastasia before."
"How many times has he used it?"
"Too many to count. I lost track after thirty. And that was over eight years ago. And he did it at least three times to all of us before we graduated as well."
The police and coroner gasped as he put Scarlatti's corpse onto a stretcher.
"Well, looks like Mr. Sable has a lot to answer for. And even Santiago Urdin as well."
Noah glared at his former teammate as he and Santiago were put into the backs of separate police cars. "You're gonna pay for this, Evan! You will pay!"
"Very well then. We have the truth. Time for us to go."Fierro declared.
"Uh, officers. I think you're forgetting someone." Mr. Bleu said, pointing at Hestia, still out cold.
"Oh right, the deaf girl. Hestia, associate of Uriel Aaron." Evan identified.
"I see. We'll take her in for questioning. Thank you, Mr. Bleu."
They handcuffed Hestia and put her in the back of a third car.
"Good luck getting answers out of her." Yang told them.
"Good luck to you brave huntsmen and lone wandering heroine." Fierro told them. "You'll need it."
With this, the police and the coroner left, the latter taking Scarlatti's body with him. Yang looked briefly at the sun, shielding herself from its glare.
Did I deserve my pardon? Yang thought.
"Saddle up, lady and gentlemen, we have work to do." Evan told them.
As sunset faded into night, Edom Albu sat in the hospital, looking over his comatose little girl. He gently held Gliss's hand as she rested peacefully, her heartbeat heard on the monitor.
"What was I thinking? I never should have let her do this! She's badly hurt and it's all my fault!"
He stared at his dark reflection in the glass window.
"What kind of father am I? Ballota... Lota, would be so disappointed." The former electronics store owner turned back to his daughter. "Oh my Lota... Oh Gliss... I'm so sorry."
I already lost my wife and the mother of my dear daughter. I can't lose my child!
Tears began to fall.
Please... please wake up!
Edom sobbed, his tears falling onto Gliss's left elbow, the wound covered in bandages and the left arm held up by a cast.
A soft moan was heard. Brown eyes soon opened up, trying to shake off weariness. She slowly sat up.
"Dad?"
"Gliss! You're awake!" He hugged his daughter, tears of relief flowing down. "Oh, thank the stars!"
Ophelia quietly peaked through the crack in the door leading to her room.
"What happened?"
"From what I was told, Yang and team SLR defeated the mayor's bodyguards; Evan left the alliance, Anastasia fled and Scarlatti is dead. Basically, we won."
Gliss smiled weakly. "Yes, we did it."
"Gliss... I... I was so worried. I can't even begin to tell you..."
"Dad..." she began. "I will admit, I was scared. But I'm not scared of dying. I know that we all have to leave this world. What scares me is living a life unfulfilled. That, and evil prevailing. There's something I want to tell you. I know that you might not like the idea but..."
"But what?" he asked in concern.
"I... I want to become a huntress."
Edom froze, giving a soft gasp. "A huntress? Gliss, that's really dangerous. You could be hurt, or worse!"
"I know the risks, but I've been thinking about it for some time. Ever since Pyrrha and her friends were here. I know the path will be difficult, and that I can't start while injured, but maybe I can help others."
"Oh Gliss... You have no idea how scared I was of losing you. I don't want to interfere with your wishes, but how can I face the fear of losing my daughter and only child in the future?"
"I know you're scared papa, but it'll be okay. We'll make a better future, whether big or small. Even if I change my mind, I know that everything will be okay."
He sniffed. "Come here."
The two hugged, holding each other close.
Ophelia turned away. Always the orphan, the outcast, never the one anyone wanted.
Several hours later, at sunrise the next day, Yang stood with her motorcycle as many of her closest friends had come to see her off. Surya, Apollo, Atum, Eric Green, Cyrene and Ophelia, along with a video chat call from a large Scroll showing Edom and Gliss in the hospital.
"You sure you can't stay?" Evan asked.
"I would stay, but I'm afraid I can't."
"How come?" Ophelia asked.
"Well for one thing, I know jack-shit about being a leader, and two, more importantly- my little sister is still out there, and she needs my help. Not to mention my birth mother is somewhere in Anima as well, and I need answers." Yang answered.
"I see. We will not keep you from your quest." Surya told them. "Go if you must, stay if you will."
"Thank you. I appreciate your understanding."
Ophelia held up the big Scroll and showed Gliss and Edom to Yang.
"Bye Yang!" Gliss waved with her good arm. "Sorry I couldn't make it, but just know that me and dad are right behind you!"
"Good luck out there!" Edom waved.
"It's okay. Take it easy, and take care." Yang told them.
"I am hoping the CCT comes back so that we may hear of your journey, but if it does not, farewell Yang. Good luck." Surya spoke.
"Oh how parting brings such terrible sorrows. But I hope that you live to see many tomorrows. Farewell and good luck Little Firebird, of this I assure you is my true word." Apollo parted.
Yang briefly smiled.
Atum nodded. "Take care."
"Best of luck out there." Cyrene waved.
"Goodbye Yang, and good luck. I have a feeling you'll need it." Eric said.
"Thank you all."
"Good luck out there. And um, Yang?" Evan began.
"Hmm?"
"If you should find Anastasia in your travels, tell her what has become of her team, what happened after she left, and that I miss her. Farewell, Firebird."
"I will. Good luck to you and all your future endeavors. Farewell!"
With this parting grace, she hopped onto her motorcycle and sped away.
A montage began with Ruby pounding some hammers into a wooden wall, Pyrrha using her semblance to lift metal boards onto a roof, which were pounded into place by Jaune with a hammer. Nora was about to pound the nails on a wall with Magnhild, only for a terrified Ren to quickly hold the weapon hammer in his right hand while handing a normal hammer to her with his left. He took her weapon and gently set it down. She pouted but accepted the smaller hammer.
The scene switched to Ren on night watch duty while his teammates slept. He remained calm and vigilant on the job.
The quintet were later shown in a cave, taking on baby Death Stalkers with their weapons, with Pyrrha using Floating Array against the small Grimm.
Two nights later, Nora was shown on night duty, with Magnhild nowhere to be found. She had a gun on her right side instead. A thought bubble appeared, showing the blacksmith faunus tinkering with her weapon.
Much later, in the daytime, Ren and Nora were gathering ingredients from the wild. Magnhild rested on Nora's back as she picked up a few berries and placed them in a large plastic bag before putting it into a cardboard carrying container with similar bags, all labeled accordingly. Ren picked up some mushrooms and put them into a larger bag with other ingredients, taking note of everything he had gathered.
They handed the gathered ingredients to Jaune and Pyrrha in the kitchen. Jaune was filling several pots with water as Pyrrha chopped up mushrooms, onions and carrots.
Then it showed villagers in line as Ruby ladled soup into bowls for them.
That night, Pyrrha was shown on the night shift. She looked briefly at one of the swords of Floating Array, a tear silently falling.
Another knight, Jaune was on border patrol, a thought bubble appearing of his traitorous aunt Crimson Arc in prison.
Yet another night Ruby was shown on night watch. An image of Penny appeared in a thought bubble next to her as she sadly sighed.
All the while, Weiss was shown battling a small horde of baby Nevermore chicks as she and her Gigas Summon went through Carapace Gorge. Standing on the ground, Weiss sliced through some of them with Myrtenaster as the Gigas wielded a much bigger sword against the parent Nevermore high above. She was later shown speaking to a woman with blue eyes and red hair in a ponytail and helping her get to a mountaintop village.
Weiss turned away happily, leaving the woman to be reunited with her family.
Later, in distant locations, separated by dual-screens, were two separate scenes;
The first one showed councilwoman Aya Swaran to be dead within a city alleyway, with Cola Arvin standing by her bloodied corpse. Her guards were nowhere to be found, leaving their fate unknown.
In the second scene, to the right, Marrok Alban was in a forest, also shown with corpses around him, including Kin Li. The CEO of Grand Industries/Council member and his guards were all dead.
The two scenes faded away and merged into the next scene; A new CEO of Grand Industries was appointed, with everyone else around her looking scared to death, giving each other scared glances and hushed whispers. The CEO herself looked solemn and looked at her hand.
The montage ended as Watts neared the end of a fight against a huntress. The huntress was a woman with light purple hair and violet eyes. Her hair was worn in an up-do ponytail, held up by a grape purple scrunchie. Her skin was pale and her eyebrows were waxed. She wore a light purple skirt with grey jeans and a purple scarf. She wore black and purple combat boots with royal purple laces.
With her purple-painted gun in hand, she fired another shot at the Atlesian doctorate graduate.
"How long do you plan to fight me?"
"Until you fall."
"Need I remind you that I have over nine gallons of aura and that most of your gunshots over the last hour or so have missed?"
"Oh, Mrs. Shields. You underestimate me, and that is ultimately what will bring about your downfall."
Heather Shields glared at him and fired yet again. Watts dodged another shot as he fired back.
And that makes zero. Looks like Elementary needs a refill.
The scientist took refuge behind a tree and quickly refilled his gun.
"Where are you, you coward!"
Perhaps a different strategy is in order as well.
He threw a few smoke bombs around the area as he sprinted, obscuring himself from his target.
The huntress quickly spun around, creating an aura shield with her left arm, expecting him to fire from the front.
She didn't watch her back; the four bullets hit her lower spine, legs and even her ankle.
With this and a shot to the neck, the huntress had finally fallen.
Watts smirked. "Everything is going according to plan. Not even the best of the best could stand up to me."
At that moment, Salem appeared before him.
"Your Majesty," Watts greeted.
He bowed in acknowledgement as the ancient witch smiled.
"Congratulations Dr. Watts. You've done well. Between you, Tyrian, and Hazel, more than enough huntsmen and huntresses have been taken out to ensure Haven's downfall."
"Then let us depart."
She took the doctor's hand and she teleported them away in a flash of purple light.
The two reappeared in the meeting room of Evernight Castle.
"Is there anything else you require at this moment, your Excellency?"
"There is nothing I need from you right now. But before you leave, I have something for you."
She snapped her fingers and conjured a lime present box with a green ribbon.
"A present?"
He took the box and opened it up. Inside were stacks of cash and a small note reading, So you don't have to count; 100,000 Lien
"100,000 Lien? What might this be for?"
"In case no one told you, huntress team CUBB (Cubeb) of Haven Academy received 500,000 Lien for turning in Maura Celandine to the authorities. However, before they could safely store their prize away, all of them were killed by Hazel and he took the case that held it. I decided to keep 100,000 for myself to be spent as necessary, and for each of you to achieve 100,000 Lien when you have succeeded in doing a great deed. You are the first to receive your share for all the huntsmen and huntresses you killed to ensure Haven's downfall."
Watts gave his superior a coy smile. "How fortuitous. I appreciate your generosity."
"As you should." Her smile faded. "But do not tell your cohorts about this. The others will receive their reward when I see fit."
He curtly nodded. "Of course."
"One more thing- I shouldn't have to tell you this, but use it wisely.""
"I appreciate your insight, Your Grace, and know exactly how I'm going to use it."
With this, he gave one final bow, took the box and left the room.
Early May in eastern Sanus, far past Vale's kingdom line, the lone runaway huntress was shown within the forest. Several weeks had passed since the dissolution of team SSEA and the Fall of Scarlatti. Not that Anastasia even knew or cared. The flowery huntress roamed the woods alone, alone with her thoughts.
What became of my team? Of Scarlatti? Are they all in jail? Why does it matter? They held you back, especially Noah. That thrice-damned bully. I should have left a long time ago!
I do kind of miss Evan though. I thought he would have joined me, but you only have to look out for yourself as a solitary huntress. It's both liberating yet lonely.
She found herself in a clearing nearby an old statue of a warrior, a strong man holding a sword and shield in hand on top of a large square block. She looked up at the statue's eyes and asked, "Were you all alone too?"
Soon Uriel Aaron manifested in front of the statue.
The traveling huntsman glared at her. "What are you doing here?"
"I could be asking you the same thing." The flower huntress folded her arms. "Shouldn't you be in some tavern, drinking and conversing with the higher-ups in the Trojan Alliance?"
"No. I've come here to bail Noah and Santiago out and take them to Mistral. And while I'm here perhaps kill you and other traitors as well."
"What do you mean? I didn't do anything wrong." she claimed.
"Are you really that foolish to think I would believe you? Scarlatti has fallen, thanks to your actions! You are a traitor, Anastasia! And traitors must pay the price; with their life!"
Uriel Aaron retrieved his longsword, now filled with electric dust. Anastasia Chrysanthe got out her rake, still full with plant dust.
The huntsman swung his sword towards the huntress, only for her to dodge by ducking under. He swung again, but Anastasia caught his weapon with the teeth of the rake. She tried pulling her rake towards her to yank the weapon out of his hands, but he lifted the sword up and out of the teeth. With this he released a wave of electric dust, hitting her ankles and sending her back.
The 'light traveler' advanced, attempting to behead her. The flowery huntress let go of her weapon and rolled out of the way in time.
"Wow, you really are lacking as a huntress."
She spun her rake, deflecting dust. "You have no right to talk, considering how you're nothing more than a lapdog for A.P and K.B. Whoever the hell they are!" She stopped spinning her weapon. "Do you even think that Phoenix Nikos would want this?"
"What does it matter?! Phoenix is dead, probably thanks to Pyrrha, and it wouldn't surprise me if she killed her own father and/or brother as well."
"That's a lie and you know it!"
Anastasia lunged forward, getting Uriel's arm with her rake's teeth. He slightly flinched from pain before backing up right into the statue. She swung her rake at him- he dashed left just as the rake scratched the base of the statue. She released a wave of plant dust downward, seeping into the ground below. Nearby vines grew from below, ensnaring Uriel's leg and attempting to ensnare his wrists. The thorn vines started to prick at his skin as he cut them down.
Uriel growled and fired wave after wave of electric dust- nine entire waves- until there was nothing left. In the process, Anastasia was hit with two dust waves, the fifth and the ninth- knocking her down and sending electrical shocks over her body.
Electric shocks continued to convulse through her for a few seconds as she laid on the ground.
"It's over, traitor. Any last words?"
Anastasia was silent.
"I guess not."
He tried to bring down his sword upon her, only for her to bounce up and fire an aura arc at him. He dropped the sword, missing her heart and soon she took it for herself. With this, she stabbed Uriel in the chest, breaking his aura and killing him instantly.
With that, Uriel Aaron fell to the ground.
Anastasia gasped at the blood on his sword.
"No..."
She sighed as tears spilled.
"I didn't sign up for this." Anastasia lamented. "I shouldn't have to be killing my fellow huntsmen. I should be slaying Grimm, or criminals if I have to kill the latter. Not to mention, what should I do with the body? Should I just leave it here? To be consumed by Grimm? On one hand, Uriel Aaron deserves better to be left alone to rot and be forgotten. He may have made some mistakes during the last months of his life, but ultimately, he did great work as a huntsman. He slayed many Grimm, and saved many lives in the process. He and his teammates of what was once team NOVA were all good heroes and heroines, and Uriel is no exception. He deserves better.
"On the other hand, it would be hard to explain the situation to the coroner. Best case scenario, he or she understands me and lets me go with little to no punishment. Worst case scenario, I get sent to prison for years. Not to mention trying to get to the next settlement alone could be a real challenge. What if getting his dead body to the nearest settlement is more trouble than it's worth? Not to mention Uriel is a key member of the Trojan Alliance. If I bring the body back with me, news will eventually reach the supreme leader's ears. And then? They could continue their rage against Pyrrha, or worse, go after me. Or my family..."
She was silent to herself for a moment or two. "Uriel bought and sold the lie of Pyrrha being guilty. He even thought she killed her own parents, killed his own teammate. I may not know who murdered them, but I know Pyrrha didn't do it. She is innocent. I don't know much, but I know that I can't stay here. I had to leave Aquarian. That town, that city, will be the downfall of us all. Hopefully someone will stop it if they haven't already. But I know where I must go, and what I must do. Goodbye Uriel Aaron. I'll just tell them you got eaten by a Beowolf."
With this goodbye, she ran forward through the forest.
Her image was seen in a black orb within a dark castle as a certain witch feasted upon their negativity.
"Ah Beacons and Lanterns of negativity. So many of them, so little time to get them all. Especially because lanterns never last long enough. But I think these two will help me gain power for a long time. A lone huntress, tormented by guilt. And a reckless trainee who must live with discord in her life."
She looked at another image; this one of Yang speeding away on her motorcycle. The two images appeared side by side.
"Run or ride away as fast as you can, but you'll never escape. Sooner or later, you'll have nowhere to run."
