Sailor Moon: Not Every Enemy Stays Defeated Chapter 15: Episode 14: Getting Through Taito City, a sailor moon fanfic

Hey Everyone, Miles here to say, like every fanfic, I don't own any of the media that I use or reference. I'm just telling a story and that's all there is to it.

Episode 14: Getting Through Taito City, and Accepting Reality

The girls left the abandoned house, looked around and headed towards Taito City. Haruka and Michiru were probably in Koto starting riots.

As they entered the city, they expected to see some people at least. But no one was around. Then it started to rain, the sky darkened quickly, thunder and lightning putting everyone on edge.

(Usagi) Everyone, let's transform. Something is very wrong here. Ami, could you check to see if there are any communication signals anywhere?

The girls took shelter for a moment to get under the roof of coffee shop.

(Ami) Sure, give me a second...

Ami typed on her mobile computer for a second.

(Ami) What the...?

(Rei) What? What is it?

(Ami) There are only two signals in the entire city. There's a bunch of small ones near a school and a couple at the Hospital.

(Minako) What should we do.

(Ami) I suggest we check out the school first. There might be people there.

(Usagi) Alright, lets go then.

The girls walked through the eerie city. There was no noise at all, just the sound of the pelting rain and the occasional echo from the sound of thunder.

Everyone had transformed and moved in a unified group towards the school.

It only took a few minutes, but it felt longer thanks to the eerie feeling that they felt that just wouldn't go away.

When they got to the school, they went inside the front doors after seeing that they were unlocked and making sure no one was inside.

After going inside. Ami pointed out another odd fact.

(Ami) Huh?

(Makoto) What now?

(Ami) The signals, they're not coming from the school. They're coming from the gymnasium next to the school.

The girls trekked outside once more and knocked on the door to the gym. After a few minutes, an elderly man with a bat opened the door.

(Old Man) Huh? You're not the Sailor Guardians we met. Who are you?

(Usagi) Yes, we are different Sailor Guardians. We are Sailor Moon, Mercury, Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Pluto.

(Old Man) I see... Come in, the rain must be terrible for you kids out there.

As the guardians walked in, they discovered that there were only elderly people and children here.

(Usagi) Sir. If you don't mind me asking... What is all of this?

(Old Man) Well, we didn't like how the military was treating us and taking our sick family members. They didn't even let us see them. So your Sailor Guardian friends came and helped us revolt!

The old man had held a smile up to now, but it faded.

(Old Man) They said that they wouldn't be gone for too long. But it's been a day. And they haven't come back yet...

The old mans smile returned.

(Old Man) I'm sorry to ask this of you six, but could you all be as so kind as to see what's happening? They said they were headin to the hospital to confront the military, so I best think you should check there first.

Holding a smile herself, Usagi reassured the old man that they would check for them in her cheery voice.

(Usagi) Just leave it to us!

After turning around. The six started walking away. Small children went up to the old man.

(Little Girl) Grandfather! Who was that?

(Little Boy) Yeah, who was she? She looked like an angel!

(Old Man) Oh, them? They said they were also Sailor Guardians. They're going to check up on your moms and dads!

(Little Boy) Really!? Lucky! I wish I could be with them when they met Sailor Moon!

(Little Girl) ME TOO!

After they left, the group walked to the Hospital, the second signal.

Upon arriving at the Hospital, there were ominous signs of what had taken place here.

There were dead soldiers, crashed armored trucks, stray bullets that had ledged themselves into the walls and floor. The front doors were wide open.

Usagi signaled for the girls to draw weapons.

upon entering. There were more military corpses. Every one of them seemed to have been taken by surprise.

A few of them weren't even in combat gear, they were still in PJ's but they still had rifles laying next to them. They went inside. Every patient was infected and dead. Each one was shot either in their sleep or without knowing.

As they got closer to the top floors, there was a horrible stench that invaded everyone's nostrils. But still they continued. It only got worse as they ascended.

Then, they made it to the floor where the usually most dangerous infected patients were, but instead of them, they were met with something floor in the hallway right outside of the floors lobby was completely charred. But they recognised the pattern immediately. There was a black, charred line in the ground, where Haruka's "World Shaking". It left a line of scorched earth in its path, right up to where the energy is turned into a magnetic explosion. After the initial recognition, they soon realized that some of the charred walls and floors had human looking imprints. There was also blood where the walls and floors weren't burned away.

Everyone looked with horror. But Usagi, she just remembered certain events that led to this moment. She began to hyperventilate as she sank to the ground. She never wanted to hurt any living human with the powers she wielded. It was something all the guardians had honored up to now, but this... this was just murder. NO, it was worse than murder... the powers they had been given... had killed people... the same power she wields, hurt the things she was supposed to protect.

She broke. She returned to her normal form.

As she hyperventilated on the ground. She tried to speak but couldn't get the words out.

Tears streamed down her face. She couldn't accept such a reality. Where the Sailor Guardians, powers bestowed upon them to protect Earth and its inhabitants, could use their powers to hurt those they were sworn to protect. It didn't make sense.

These and a million other thoughts ran through the poor girls mind. But one thought was louder than the rest. "WHERE? WHERE DID IT ALL GO WRONG? HOW COULD I ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN? WHAT DO I DO NOW?"

Everyone, even Rei tried, and failed to calm the girl. They ended up having to pick Usagi onto her feet and had to help her walk because she was hyperventilating so much that she was unable to stand or walk on her own.

Then when they got to the first floor, Usagi fainted.

Everyone sat in the ground floor lobby as Usagi laid unconscious, but returned to normal breathing. Everyone sat in the lobby, listening to the rain, still dumbfounded, or still in disbelief.

(Minako) What...do we even do... we just saw proof that Haruka and Michiru were here. And that Haruka killed every adult in this town with her powers.

(Makoto) I.. don't know. I don't know if I even want to use my powers anymore. Just knowing that one wrong move now could mean that I kill an innocent person or people. I don;t know anymore.

(Ami) It's hard to say. From the beginning, we knew what we were capable of... But I never thought the reality would be so.. horrific.

(Rei) Seroiusly...

(Makoto) What is it Rei?

(Rei) Are you guys seriously only considering the risks NOW!? After all this time... ONLY NOW!?

(Minako) US!? Are you with us when we saw whatever that was up there!? Someone with the same powers as US! DID THAT! How do you expect-

*SLAP*

Rei got up and slapped Minako. She was stunned as she looked at Rei.

(Rei) I was standing next to all of you when we saw that. I saw what someone ELSE did! That wasn't our fault! We didn't force her to do that. She did it all on her own, with a sane mind! I agree, what she did was horrible

but that doesn't mean we are to blame.

Usagi woke up. She was in her room. It was morning and Ikuko was warning her that she would be late again.

Usagi rushed to get ready, grabbed breakfast and said goodbye to her family.

On the way to school, it rained which "Totally sucks right now!"

The girl sprinted all the way to school. At the entrance, there was a huge crowd. Everyone had umbrellas and were blocking the view.

(Usagi) Huh, I wonder what's going on...

Usagi ran up to the students and struggled her way through the crowd, after getting to the center, she saw that she was now Sailor Moon.

After looking at herself, she looked in front of her to see Haruka, standing over the dead bodies of all the Sailor Guardians. Ami, Rei, Makoto, Minako, Michiru and Hotaru were all dead, laying pools of their own blood.

Haruka took notice of Usagi and shot her a smirk as she prepared to launch a World Shaking at Usagi and the students behind her.

With no choice left, she shot Haruka in the shoulder and she fell to the ground. Her attacks every faded as she fell.

After running up to her, Usagi bent down to talk to Haruka.

(Usagi) What the hell Haruka!? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!?

Haruka just chuckled as blood gushed out of her bullet wound. But Haruka raised her other arm.

(Haruka) If you had just listened to my plan, we could've avoided this. But now, it's all your fault. All of their deaths are on your hands.

Before she knew it, Haruka launched a World Shatter, killing everyone that stood behind Usagi.

Looking back at them, she could see that there were Moon tiaras in the heads of each of the people that Haruka killed.

Everyone jumped as Usagi woke up screaming and crying.

They were about to try talking to her when suddenly, she transformed, summoned her gun and pointed it at herself. She was hysterical.

It took everyone using all of their strength to bring Usagi down and get the gun away from her. Everyone had to grab Usagi and tackle her to the floor. The girl kicked and screamed like a wild animal.

When they separated the gun from her hand, she flailed her arm to retrieve it.

(Usagi) I CAN'T DO IT ANYMORE! LET ME GO, NOW! I DON'T WANNA BE HERE ANYMORE! IF I DIE, EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY AGAIN! EVERYONE WILL BE OKAY IF I'M GONE!

The girls tried to reason with her, but it took a while to get her to settle down and to stop flailing around. After the fact, Usagi powered down, then so did everyone else.

Before she could start to speak again. Usagi expected Rei to yell at her or even slap her.

This time, Rei punched Usagi in the face, forcing the girl to step back.

Usagi felt her face. Her left cheek was tender now. It hurt every time she touched it.

She looked at Rei, completely shocked that Rei would go as far as to actually hit her like this. She looked up at Rei to make eye contact

It took a moment to realized that she was also crying now.

(Rei) Usagi... You've done some really stupid things in the past... But trying to kill yourself? THAT PROBABLY TOPS THE FUCKING LIST!

(Rei) AND WHAT DOES KILLING YOURSELF ACOMPLISH!? WORLD PEACE? WAKE UP ALREADY!

She stopped yelling to sob.

(Rei) What happened to you? Where's my friend? Where's the girl that annoys me at every inconvenience!? Where's the girl that ALWAYS looked for the better way? WHERE IS SHE DAMMIT!? TELL ME!

(Usagi) Rei... I just can't anymore... It's too much... There's so much pain, suffering... I just... I can't bear it any longer... I-

(Rei)BULLSHIT!

Everyone jumped at the loud sound.

There were tears in her eyes, but her voice never trembled.

(Rei) Have you forgotten EVERYTHING we've been through? Huh? Last I checked, we are the Sailor Guardians and YOU are Sailor Moon! We've fought countless enemies, risked our lives to protect what was important to us. Don't you remember? When we were pitted against Queen Beryl and the Dark Kingdom? When each of us died protecting each other. After I died, I saw you almost give up as a spirit. But that didn't happen. You wanted to give up so badly, but you didn't. None of us did. We knew the cost, yes, but we were still afraid, afraid of failure, afraid of death, but we still went anyway. But even after we all died...

Rei's hands were shaking and tears were starting to fall from her eyes.

You walked through that FROZEN HELLSCAPE! ALONE! Sure we were with you in spirit, but in reality, you were all alone to face her. All we did was give you a little push and you did the rest. Then, here we were again, this time, it was the Dead Moon Circus. After everything had happened, when that Bitch, Nehelenia, threw your future daughter over a ledge over a thousand feet in the air and you didn't hesitate to jump to save her. YOU COULD'VE LET HER FALL, BUT YOU WOULD RATHER DIE THAN LET SOMEONE ELSE DIE. So why do you get to be any different?

(Rei) What about the next thing that happened? Sailor Galactica. It took us weeks to figure out what was happening, even with the sailor starlights and the outer guardians helping us, albeit, different times. But regardless, remember when she had killed each and every one of us except you, Haruka, Michiru, ChibiChibi and the Starlight? Did you want to die then? OF COURSE NOT! YOU WERE READY TO DO EVERYTHING IN YOUR POWER TO SAVE US, EVEN IF IT MEANT ALMOST DYING YOURSELF!

Rei grabbed Usagi by the collar. She pulled her close. Usagi could see the tears flowing from her eyes to the bottom of her face and the hurt that was in her eyes.

(Rei) What make you think that you have the right to die after everytime that you have saved everyone? Those people didn't die, so why should you get a pass? Because you're hurt? Because you can't do it anymore? Well, we do get that luxury. You know why? Because we are the Sailor Guardians. We fight for love and justice. We protect those who cannot protect themselves. Whether the people love us, hate us, it doesn't matter. All that matters, is that we are here to protect them, no matter what.

Don't tell me that you can't handle the stress of the situation. No, I don't want to hear that from you. All of us have followed you through our best and worst times. You have taken the biggest burden out of all of us. You've seen every one of us die. Me...Ami...Makoto...Minako...None of us saw the others get impaled by Sailor Galactica... Only you. But even after that, you saw Haruka and Michiru die right in front of you! But STILL, you kept fighting until you found a way to help everyone, even our enemy.

Everyone was so moved by Rei's speech, they transformed.

(Rei) So Usagi... Get off your ass. We're going to Tokyo. And I won't take no for an answer.

(Usagi) O..kay. Okay! I understand. But before we leave, we need to send an S.O.S. for those people.

(Usagi) Ami, is there a phone that still works nearby?

(Ami) Yes, the one in the lobby still works.

Usagi called the military from Shibuya and called in an S.O.S.

They did another game of Rock-Paper-Scissors to see who would have to learn how to drive one of the Armored trucks. Usagi was the unfortunate soul, but she caught on pretty quickly and they drove the straight shot to the Tokyo Metropolitan Area.

As everyone got into a vehicle, their transceivers buzzed. It was Michiru and Setsuna.

(Usagi) Michiru! Setsuna! Where are you three, we're heading to Tokyo now, we can meet up somewhere and-

Usagi was interrupted by Michiru, it looked like she had been crying.

(Michiru) We're already here, but Haruka went in before us, and she's all alone! Quickly! Get here so we can help her! I don't want her to die!

(Usagi) Understood, on our way!

The connection was severed.

Usagi figured out (after about 5 minutes) how to put the vehicle in drive, and they were off to Tokyo.

It would feel like forever, but it would only take them an hour to get to the entrance of the Tokyo Metropolitan Area, the area that was labeled as Abandoned and not to entered by civilians or even military
