Chapter Forty-One
Reporting in
When the Chicago Knights arrived back in Mutopia, they instantly hurried to the movie room where Tyroth and Sephie were waiting.
Normally they would hold their meetings in the Dojo, but Pandora had been using it a lot recently and because of the situation, the last thing they wanted was the angry young hybrid walking in on their meetings.
When they arrived, they saw Tyroth and Sephie sitting on a couple of the sofas and Jack lead the others in before shutting the door and locking it.
"I think we're clear and safe to speak!" the wolf said.
Tyroth said nothing but nodded as the Knights all took their seats on the mattresses and beanbags.
"What have you got for us?" Sephie asked concerned.
Jack frowned and instantly started to tell the Dragon and Gecko what he and the others saw.
"We all took positions around the school." He said, "Although Devina dressed up as one of the members of the Street Gang and walked amongst the crowd."
Devina nodded confirming.
"I did my best to listen in, and I observed all around me, I could tell who part of the Street gang was, and who was part of the Foot."
"And we saw many members we have fought before." Heather said with a frown "Some we've defeated and left for the law only to be given a slap on the wrist and they return to their life of crime!"
Tyroth sighed with a glare.
"Did you find out anything specific?" Sephie asked "Like what they plan to do next?"
"We weren't able to find out anything no." Jack said with a sigh.
"But we do know is they're planning big stuff, more than likely some drug exchanges or counterfeiting money," Sharky said, his eyes narrowing.
"Stuff we're already used to!" Sarah growled.
"But what's frustrating is we still don't know why the Foot are here in Chicago!" Kate snarled.
"My only guess is they're here to offer a business deal or partnership." Jake said.
"But how come you weren't able to find out anything more specific?" Sephie asked.
Jack frowned.
"Well from my experience, with the police and human vigilantes acting as moles, gangsters and criminals speak in code so as not to give away the obvious."
Tyroth sighed.
"Damn!" Tyroth sighed.
"What's your suggestion Boss?" Percy asked.
Tyroth licked his lips.
"I'll need to think more on this on what our next move should be, but I can only advise we continue to observe and not speak of this to the Hamato Clan."
"Continue to observe?" Amber asked, "But what if it's something serious?"
"Jen!" Tyroth turned to his sister.
"We can't just rush into things! Especially with the Foot in Chicago, with them here, it's a risk."
"And with the members of the gang who have encountered us before!" Sarah said, "If they connect the dots, we're all in trouble!"
"But they still think we're just people in costume!" Jack argued.
"Everyone! Calm down!" Sephie said holding up her arms "This isn't helping! Right now, all we can do is just observe and then go on from there to find ways to stop the crimes without exposing ourselves!"
"She's right!" Tyroth said yet before he could say anything else he felt his cell phone ring.
Growling in frustration the dragon snatched up the phone.
"Tyroth here!" he said then his frustrated look turned to question.
"Hugh?"
Upon hearing the police chief's name, everyone stopped chattering and looked over to Tyroth who stood still as he listened.
"Okay, I'll put you on loud speaker." He said then gestured with his hand to gather everyone and pressed the button "Fire away Hugh."
"Thank you Tyroth." Hugh's voice was soon heard.
"What's up?" Sephie asked.
A sigh was heard then Hugh started to speak.
"A few hours ago, I was given a report on a traffic accident involving a man being hit by a car."
The Knights frowned as they listened.
"Yet from the reports, it was more than just a guy getting it, he had been injured beforehand, and his wife had spoken about him being attacked by some individual."
Tyroth glared.
"Carry on." He spoke.
"His wife Laura said they had been talking in an alleyway, or rather, the man involved in the accident had been intimidating her, and then they were confronted by someone in street clothes, yet she couldn't identify them due to them wearing a hood and cowl."
No sooner did Hugh say that, than everyone looked at each other remembering the previous incident of the gunman in the shop and a similar person had attacked him.
"Laura fled the scene, but she did see her husband fleeing the alleyway with a bleeding ear and the individual chasing him until he ran into the road and was hit by the car, after that, she ran into the road to him and the individual fled, after we were calling to the scene, forensics who analysed the area including where the incident started, they found part of his ear! Been cleanly chopped off!"
"Yeessh!" Sharky winced and the others agreed.
Tyroth glared harder.
"So there's been another attack?" he asked "Yet no idea who was behind it?"
"No Big T." Hugh reported "Again the widow of the man is being interviewed as we speak, and so far she's only given us a background on her husband, his name was Martin Coombes, and that he was a successful bank manager and they had been married for six years, and that she had been under his controlling behaviour for a while."
Kate glared when she heard that.
"Bastard!" she said yet Heather and Sarah shushed her.
Kate glowered back then she mouthed at them:
"Served him right!"
"Quiet!" Sephie hissed.
"Anyway," Hugh's voice came again "Laura's being interviewed and we're trying to find out what caused this, whether it be someone working alone, or it's Diablo."
Tyroth sighed as he listened, and the other Chicago Knights glared as Diablo was mentioned.
"Thanks Hugh." He said, "If you find out anything else, let us know."
"I promise Big T!" Hugh replied then after saying his goodbyes he hung up.
As Tyroth hung up, he looked up at the Knights.
"Great(!)" Jack said, "Not only have we got enemies to observe, we got some mysterious vigilante on the loose!"
Tyroth nodded.
"That we have." He spoke.
"So what do we do?" Amber asked.
Tyroth glared.
"So far, nothing, except observe and intervene if we need to, and we must keep quiet about this to the Hamato Clan! If they knew what was happening topside, I can't imagine the stress it will put on them, after all they have gone through!"
Jake sighed as he knew that Monalisa was no fool and would eventually try and find out what was going on, but he agreed with Tyroth that the best thing to do was to keep quiet until they learnt the Foot's true agenda.
Jack narrowed his eyes and nodded.
"Very well boss." He said to Tyroth "We shall continue to observe and keep quiet."
"And what of this mysterious vigilante?" Sharky asked.
"Again, we can only stay alert." Tyroth said "And Hugh will do his best on his end."
"Do you think Diablo has returned?" Percy asked in a worried tone.
"No Way!" Jack spat "After what happened before, he'd never dare come back!"
"Guys please!" Tyroth said "We can't jump to conclusions! All we can do is stay alert! And continue our current duties and we only step in if needed, okay?"
The Chicago Knights looked at each other, then at Tyroth before sighing and agreed.
"Very well Boss."
Meanwhile on the aircraft flying to Japan, many hours passed for Leonardo and Kemeko.
During the flight, they had talked together and shared some snacks, and Leonardo had told Kemeko tales of Japan as well as the story of Hamato Yoshi which Kemeko enjoyed listening to, as Leonardo had often told her the ancient stories of the beautiful far away land, he had promised to take her to.
As Kemeko listened to the last tale her father told her, they were laying on the floor of the hold in sleeping bags and she had fallen asleep with Leonardo stroking her hair as he told her to story of Little Peachling.
"….So Little Peachling went home laden with riches, and maintained his foster parents in peace and plenty for the remainder of their lives." Leonardo said softly before kissing Kemeko's forehead and falling asleep next to her with a soft smile on his face.
Before long, Leonardo soon awoke to the feel of the aircraft starting to lower, and he soon heard the voice of the captain speaking in the cabin both in English and Japanese that they were descending into Tokyo.
Excited, the turtle sat up and he gently shook Kemeko awake.
Kemeko stirred then opened her eyes.
"Are we there yet?" she yawned.
"We are yes." Leonardo said, "So we need to pack up our stuff and stay hidden until it's safe to leave." He spoke.
Kemeko nodded and quickly scrambled out of her sleeping bag then started to roll it up so she could place it in her large backpack.
"We just need to wait for the plane to land." Leonardo said, "Then the ground crew to unload then…" he paused "We'll go on from there."
Kemeko nodded and both she and Leonardo hid behind a large box to wait for the plane to land.
After an hour, the plane landed and arrived at the gate then the ground crew started to unload the luggage and cargo.
Leonardo and Kemeko kept hidden until an opportunity came for them to escape the hold without being seen and out of Haneda airport.
When they got outside the airport, Kemeko could just see the glittering city of Tokyo as well as Mount Fuji in the distance, and she was amazed.
Leonardo saw his daughters look and smiled.
"Here we are Lotus." He said "Japan, and this is only the tip of the Iceberg."
"Where is it we will be going exactly?" Kemeko asked.
"We still have a long way to go to get where we wish to be." Leonardo said, "Flying here from Chicago was just the first stepping-stone."
"How will we get there?" Kemeko asked.
"Well, we need to keep out of sight of the humans, as is the rule, we need to get through the city and towards the outskirts."
Kemeko blinked as she listened.
"I knew a few ways!" Leonardo winked "Done it a couple of times, but we need to hurry."
"I trust you dad!" Kemeko said as she grasped Leonardo's hand and followed him away from the airport.
So the Chicago Knights have reported back to Tyroth and they've also found out from Hugh about the traffic accident where Pandora caused an abusive man to be killed!
Also Leonardo and Kemeko have arrived in Japan and they still have a long way to go!
