A/N: Doctor of Demons will be updated tomorrow.

Make no mistake, I wanted to update it today, but I had to rush to the hospital for my niece -the youngest, not even a year old- pretty damn early this morning. I only just now got back. Never a dull moment with my family, I swear.

This "Shard" bin is saving my life; I've got so many ideas buzzing around and it really helps to put them out here.

Once more, we're sticking with the "Embers" rule for this story, and others. If folks don't like this, it won't be continued. Meaning that if the story itself ain't popular? POOF! Gone. Completely. I'm working two jobs -might need a third soon!- so I barely have time to write; as such, I cannot afford to write something folks don't enjoy. So by all means, speak up! Your voice matters! Make yourself heard! As ever, reviews are the fuel that sustain me. Without them I cannot write a single word. Simple as that. Working nearly all hours of the day keep me absurdly busy, and I can't bring myself to write something folks don't like.

As ever, I own no references, quotes, memes or themes. Not a wit or a one.

I'm just a humble author trying to make his way in this wild world, one word at a time.

As ever in the words of Kaif...

...SPOILERS!

"It just takes a little light to turn your life around.

Just a spark in the dark.

That's all.

~?

Light

Hyetta tilted her head.

Blinked. Once. Twice. Thrice.

Then tilted her head some more. "I can see."

"Yup." the grinning young man before her crossed both arms before his chest and bobbed his blond head. "How's it feel? Pretty good, huh?"

...why can I see?"

Her eyesight -or rather, the sight of this body she had come into- had ever been weak. Without the Grapes, she could see so very little. She disliked it terribly, but she'd long since learned to accept it as her lot in life. Irina was...well, she was gone. In death that sweet, kindly girl had granted her this form, a second chance at life from the beyond, a chance to evade Destined Death. She'd accepted gladly. Poor vision was a small price to pay for a chance to live again and breathe the air of the Lands Between.

Until this man stumbled upon her. Laid hands on her face. Or rather, his eyes. And now she saw him in his entirety.

He was a rough looking one all things considered; and yet the sight of him stilled her all the same.

It wasn't his whiskered cheeks that alarmed her, nor the ragged state of his attire.

It was the eyes. One of them was not like the other. The right was blue, while the left blazed a strange shade of wild, rippling violet etched with tomoe. T'was an otherwordly orb, and just looking at it frightened her. Such an eye did not belong to him. She'd dimly heard him speak of someone named Sasuke before. Was it his, perhaps? Had it been take from the corpse of his fallen friend? Granted to him in his final moments mayhap, to be a replacement for an eye long lost.

Hyetta didn't know...yet she wanted to.

She'd ever been a curious sort, even in her first life.

Living again, even in a different body, did precious little to change that.

Ah, but he was speaking now, and she must attend.

"Because I healed your eyes, silly!" That cheeky smile flashed out again as he plonked down on a fallen log beside her. "Felt kinda bad for ya, so I did for you what I did for Kakashi."

The maiden blinked -how strange it felt to have eyes again!- and tilted her head anew. "What is a Kakashi?"

"Well...that's a long story." Her savior laughed. "It was a pleasant sound that warmed her blood. "I'll tell ya later. I mean, you're the first person who hasn't attacked me since I crashed into that old castle over there," he jerked a thumb over his shoulder to the ruined, pitted expanse behind him, "And you gave me good directions. A favor for a favor, miss...?"

Heat seared through her cheeks like a frenzied flame, boiling through both blood and body alike. Oh gods, she'd been terribly rude!

"I beg your pardon, good Tarnished." she ducked her head. "My name is Hyetta. I am forever in your debt."

The blond blinked at her."Tarnished...?"

Was this fate? Destiny? The tiniest of lights bloomed in Hyetta's heart. A Maiden. Yes. That was her destiny. She would be his Maiden.

"Might...might I have your name?"

Her body burned ever more as leaned forward and laid a hand atop hers.

"Naruto." his smile was sunshine itself. "Nice ta meetcha."

A/N: And there we have it.

Another Request fulfilled for ya'll

Do you want this to be a story? Yes? No? Maybe so? Make yourselves heard! Once more, we're sticking with the "Embers" rule for this particular story, and others.

Working nearly all hours of the day keep me absurdly busy, and I can't bring myself to write something folks don't like.

Aaaand there we go. As ever, reviews keep me alive. Without them, I cannot write. So...in the Immortal Words of Atlas...

...Review...Would You Kindly? And have some previews -potential blot bin things- that I'm working on.

The first one...is honestly tempting. Alas, I don't have a title for it, and that's stopped me.

*cries*

(Previews)

"After all, you are Maidenless-

Varre was still speaking when golden knuckles slammed into his face.

He struck the ground in a heap, had time enough to look up, and oh my, that was a very large blue sphere crashing down on him.

"DIE."

Oblivion engulfed the bloody surgeon.

She drew him back to the bed. His fingers hooked her undergarments and drew them away.

"TO WAR!"

Roderika was silent for a long moment. Then she started to laugh. "You're an odd one, aren't you?"

"This from the girl with the jellyfish?"

That tore it. When he started laughing, she couldn't help but giggle.
