Cute Montage of time passing. IDK
Sun set Harriette down on the padded floor of the daycare. She bounced waiting for the other girls to arrive. As soon as Adrianna and the other's were visible she waved excitedly.
"Mayla! Emelia!"
"Harriette!" the two girl's shrieked in delight at seeing Harriette again. They slid down the slide and pretty much tackle hugged the black haired girl. They talked about things since they parted as if a lifetime had passed. Sun couldn't stop the sigh that came at seeing his and Moon's little girl so happy.
The next day Genni came back to the daycare, excitedly hugging Harriette. The group finally reunited.
Today was the full moon and Mayla was sad that she had to leave before naptime due to worry of whether, Moon would make her transform or not. Mayla and her grandparents didn't want that to happen. She was still four years from being able to take the medicine to help with the full moon. So here she was sitting in the naptime cave, in a little pain and wanting to play, but worried she may accidently hurt and in turn, infect the other kids. She didn't want to do that. She never wanted to force this kind of pain on someone else. Especially since so many of the kids here were so young. It would take them even longer till they were able to take the medicine. Mayla sniffled. Harriette and Emelia came in to check on her, one sitting on either side of her. Emelia rubbed her hand over her back while Harriette put a soothing hand on her head. Mayla leaned into Harriette's touch. It felt nice, like a warm hot bath after a turn.
"You're a little warm," Harriette said, rubbing circles in between her eyebrows.
"It's the full moon," Mayla said with a whine coming out as they said moon. Harriette wrapped her arm around her and hugged Mayla against her. Mayla was surprised she didn't feel her Sun and Moon plushies. Peaking out she saw them set asside. Emelia leaning into her other side, still rubbing circles into her back. It was nice.
"I don't want to hurt anyone. Can make you both really sick like me," Mayla said, trying to worn them, about what she was.
"You won't," Harriette said, matter of factly, and something warm and calm washed over Mayla. All the muscle that had been wound tight over her bones, almost tight enough to break, relaxed. The smell of chamomile and lavender filled the area as Emelia pulled out a little round tub with a crescent moon on it. Mayla whined as it was too strong for her overly sensitive nose right now, so she buried her face in her knees.
"Moon said we could use this since you're not feeling well," Emelia said softly. Her tone is gentle. "It's for kids who have trouble sleeping, but Moon said it might make you feel better." Emelia looked over to Mayla. "Is it too strong?" Mayla nodded. "Sorry." She closed the tub, and went over to the blanket Mayla had hung up to hide behind and fanned the air out, the scent hadn't been very strong to begin with just too much for Mayla, so it didn't take long for the rest of the daycares' smells to over power it. That was almost too much too, until Harriette started rubbing circles over her nose again then Mayla could barely smell anything. Emelia settled down next to her again.
Fred and Goerg hadn't seen Mayla all day and were worried about her. So they set off on a quest to find her and see what was wrong. They looked over the coloring tables, the ball pit, and even the play structures. Yet there was no sign of her. They looked around and found Granny Nova, and Grand-paw Bram, so she had to be here. But where was she?
When they found her, she was almost asleep between Harriet and Emelia. Emelia was already dosing against her side, while Harriette sat supporting the two.
"Do you two need a break, we can watch her?" They asked, looking at how the three of them were sitting. Harriette shook her head, while Emelia sat up blearily before nodding. Fred took over Emelia's spot as the girl headed out to the daycare proper. George settled down next to Harriette, helping the tiny girl support the older larger girl's weight. Mayla quickly went back to her trance-like state, dosing in and out. Probably from the pain. Harriette rubbing little circles here or there on the older girl's head or back.
"Sorry you have to go through this every month," Fred said, running his hand through Mayla's hair, as George rubbed her back.
Note: Fun Fact this last one is from one of the older written chapters
Harriette and Emelia and Genni and Mayla raced to the top of the play structure to sit. Mrs. Raywood had gifted Harriette and Emelia both drawing books so the two wanted to each draw the daycare the way they saw it. The other's had taken their own drawing supplies and were seated across the top talking about their favorite things.
Moon braided Harriette's hair every night before she went to sleep.
Emelia had always liked Genni, she'd been one of the few kids who were willing to keep up with Emelia's need for stimulation. Now she had Harriette and Mayla. Mayla was the only girl who'd actually kept up with her constant talk, and Harriette seemed just as excited to hear things the tenth time as she was the first time. Harriette liked physical touch which was great because Emelia love love loved physical touch. Touching things was great, and Harriette was soft and bumpy so she was interesting to touch. Harriette liked spiders which was weird but Emelia could learn to like spiders. Harriette was holding Emelia's hand and listening to her talk about dogs. Mayla was late today because she had to go to a doctor's appointment. And Genni wasn't there cause she had a real bad fever and needed rest. She was fine though, Fred and George assured. Before going off to bother one of their other siblings, they were all there today cause of Genni being sick. Harriette waved to the other regulars, before turning back to her to ask something else about the type of dop Emelia was talking about.
"They're the biggest type of dog," Emelia explained. Harriette nodding, eyes intense with interest and a little fear. Harriette was learning about something that scared her for Emelia. Yeah, Emelia could learn to like spiders.
Sun combed her hair each morning.
It was just the regulars today, including all the Weasleys it wasn't a common occurrence. There was always at least one missing, or other kids in the daycare. So, they all decided together to do something special, at least until someone new came in. So, they'd all played together. They chose the game and played it all day, even at nap and snack and meal times. They made a big nest together to sleep in so that they could keep playing. Moon couldn't use his camera to take the picture, but he'd still hold onto the memory forever.
Harriette made picture frames for the pictures that she made as well as the ones that Moon or Sun took. Each taking their place on the wall with their matched picture.
Katie and Harriette were seated across from each other talking in sign language. Katie was explaining the plot of her favorite cartoon, and a character she loved. Harriette was asking her all about it. Her Sun and Moon plushies seated in her lap.
Harriette was playing cat's cradle with Katrina as they talked about beads.
Moon made sure Harriette always had dinner.
Harriette found a paper booklet in one of the boxes that Sun kept. The booklet looked to have a drawing of Sun and Moon with lots of weird notes. Harriette didn't know what all the words meant but she was sure it was how her daddies were made.
Wait, wait, Harriette thought to herself. You can't think of them as your daddies they haven't said your their kid. What if they don't want that? Harriette decided she wanted to be useful, and she remembered Mr Sun and Adriana talking about how they never got repairs even or maintenance. Maybe that's how she could be helpful.
Sun made sure she ate breakfast.
Harriette learned more about spiders every night.
Granny Nova brought Harriette some books. Some of the books were for school, but most were just books that she thought Harriette would like to read.
Harriette and Sun, Mayla and her grandparents were drawing at the daycare tables. Harriette is talking about what she and Mayla did. Mayla doing the same with her grandparents.
"So, which is it?" Harriette said.
"Ah, well it's technically wolves do mate for life," Sun said.
"See," Mayla said. Harriette turned to stick her tongue out at her then both girls burst into giggles.
"Well, I still think being a bird would be best," Harriette said. "They mate for life and can fly." Harriette said.
"Not all birds mate for life actually, most do," Harriette turn to Sun eyes wide. "And not all can fly." He booped her nose. She giggled, grabbing her wiggled happily.
"Sun and Moon kisses," She said.
"Huh?" Sun asked.
"What was that sweetie?"
"Sun and Moon kisses," Harriette said.
"How do you figure?" Sun had to ask.
"On the human body the lips are the most sensitive part," Harriette explained.
"Where did you learn that?" Sun could only barely keep himself from shouting. Harriette looked to the Raywoods before looking to him again.
"I over heard some te-bigger kids talking about it," Harriette shrugged, turning back to her coloring. "Anyway the lips are the most sensitive part of a human, and your hands are the most sensitive. So Sun and Moon kisses." Harriette said cheerfully.
Oh my god, so cute! Moon said.
"Sun?"
"Too cute," Sun said into the table. Harriette tilted her head.
"Okay, Daddies," Harriette said. She'd been completely absorbed in the assignment Sun had given her. Moon had asked her to change into her pajamas. But the completely relaxed demeanor the child had was completely gone. No longer was her attention on her classwork. "I'm sorry." It was barely more then a whisper.
"What?"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, please don't be mad, I won-" Harriette started.
"Oh, no, no, no, that's not, hey, hey it's okay," Moon said. "You don't have to call us dad if you don't want to."
"That's not- but I- it's not- I-"
"Hey, hey, it's okay, Sun and I would be honored if you wanted to call us dad, but you don't have to, that's a big step, and a lot of-"
"Your not mad," she sounded surprised. It somehow had washed away the coming panic attack.
"No, of course not," Moon said. Tucking a strand of hair behind the girl's ear. "Why would I be mad?" Moon said, softly.
"I- I once called Vernon that," Harriette admitted. "He-he didn't like it."
"Well, I thought we'd established he was a terrible person right," Harriette nodded, sniffling. Moon continued, rubbing soothing circles into her arms. "Listen, you don't have to call us anything you don't want to, or aren't ready for. There's no rush. Okay. You can think of us as Dad but keep calling us Sun and Moon if you want. And you can start calling us dad whenever you feel ready. Okay?" Harriette nodded.
"Does Sun agree?" Harriette asked. "Does he really not mind that I think of you as my daddies?"
"Would you like to talk to him?"Moon asked. Harriette nodded. They switched it wasn't exactly easy, but they'd do anything to make their little girl feel better.
"Hello, Harriette," Sun said, he would have asked her what had happened while he'd been sleeping, even though he hadn't been sleeping if Harriette hadn't spoken first.
"You heard what Moon and me were talking about, right?" Harriette asked.
"Yeah," Sun said.
"Are you- do you- Um?" Harriette struggled.
"What Moon said was one hundred, no ten thousand, no a million bajillion percent true," Sun said. He wished he could change his expressions. He wished his feelings on her face. He was sure she'd know just how much they both loved her if they could. They just knew it. "You are very precious to me and Moon. We both love you so very, very much. And we would be honored to have you as our daughter, even if your not ready to call us dad yet." Harriette nodded, then hugged them. She gripped so tight, and cried.
"I'm sorry, I'm not ready to call you guys Dad yet," Harriette sobbed. "I want to be, but I just."
"I know, we both do," Sun said rocking her. "I've gotta switch back to Moon now is that okay, can we keep hugging." Harriette buried her face into their ruffles and nodded.
"Uh-huh," she said, sniffling.
It was the end of the day. Sun and Moon were waving goodbye to their last guest. Harriette had fallen asleep a little while ago and Sun and Moon had agreed that it was fine if she got a little extra sleep now and then.
She's so cute, Moon said as Sun walked to the table. She'd fallen asleep while coloring.
"She is," Sun agreed, grently touching her head. She mumbled something in her sleep, it honestly sounded like hissing. Sun smiled. "Anyways, time to go home." It was such a short trip but it felt true. The room had been there for nearly six years, longer if they counted…. But it had never felt like home before Harriette called it that.
