Sora stood trembling, her breath uneasy and her head aching. Arin stood in front of her, staring at the sight in front of him.
"Why'd you save us?" Arin asked, staring at the Golden Creature. The creature took a step back in shock before directing its emerald eyes to the both of them. The creature had two sharp fangs that pointed upwards, showing even when it's mouth was closed. It had a humanoid structure, standing on two legs. The two pairs of arms that it had stood still, as if they were frozen. It's pupils dilated from slits to a normal circle, and Arin felt a chill go down his spine.
"What are you? Who are you? Do you have a name?" The creature didn't move, and Arin saw a small flicker of pain and confusion in its eyes. Something so familiar…
"Arin… don't freak out but I think it's an Oni." Sora mumbled.
"But this…" Arin stood, trying to find the right words, "Creature can't be a Oni. It's the wrong colours, and it has a tail." They stared at the creature's tail, which had a small bit of fluff at the end of it. "It just looks… different."
"Can you speak..?" Asked Sora, stepping towards it. The creature stood still, paralysed with fear. "We have a friend that's an Oni. Maybe he can help you, his name is Garmadon."
The Oni shook its head slowly, it's blonde mane flowing in the wind. Weird. Arin thought, I feel like I've seen it before. Like, it's just too weirdly familiar.
"What do we-" Sora started, before being cut off by Kai came running towards them waving his arms frantically.
"There you are! We were so-" His eyes laid on the Oni, and he stopped in his tracks.
"Lloyd?" He whispered.
—————————-
Lloyd sat on the couch of the bounty, his legs pressed to his chest. He was shaking so badly that Zane had asked him so many times to go to sleep, but every time he shut his eyes he was immediately pushed into another nightmare. The blankets wrapped around him have no sense of warmth, as his stupid genes had made his skin cold as ice. But this feeling would fade soon, then he could transform back into his human form and get rid of the tail and horns that had painfully sprouted from his bones. His tail had automatically curled around his ankle, and Lloyd had to keep his head tilted downwards at all times otherwise his horns would pierce the cushions.
"Lloyd, you're hyperventilating again, try to breath." Zane said, turning around from the kitchenette. "You're gonna be ok. Just tell me what's wrong, and why you don't want anyone else to see you."
"I-didn't-think-that-I-would-do-it-but-I-did-and-then-everything-else-was-just-a blur-but-then-I-saw-Arin-and-Sora-and-I-didn't-" Lloyd's words came out in a gush of nonsense. Zane put a hand on his shoulder.
"Slow down. My circuits cannot understand what you are saying."
Lloyd took a deep breath as Zane sat down beside him. Lloyd tried to cover up his new features with the blankets before Zane stopped him and pulled them down.
"There's no use hiding." Zane said bluntly. Lloyd couldn't stop the tears from flowing down his face.
"I didn't want to d-do it but then I s-saw she was hurting t-them and I just d-did it and n-now…" He slammed his head into his hands, trying to stop the flow of tears. "Do you t-think that they'll h-hate me..?" He whispered, almost cutting into his skin angrily because of how hard he was clenching his head. Lloyd slowly put his head out and staring at his trembling claws.
"No. I am certain that they'll still think of you in the same way. You did give them a bit of a fright though." Zane reassured. "Is that why you didn't want anyone else to see you?"
Lloyd nodded.
"Why don't I get Kai in here? He's already seen you so you don't have anything to worry about. But it's late, almost midnight, so please, get some sleep. By the time you wake up we'll be back in the monastery."
