Chapter 16
We're in the Pokemon Center training our Pokemon, until we find Calem approaching us.
"Hey, Calem! What are you doing here?" Serena asks.
"Well, this is Ambrette Town. You go through the aquarium to get to Cyllage City." Calem says. "But first, we should go to the Fossil Lab and have them tell us about Fossils. Maybe we'll learn something about those mysterious stones related to Mega Evolution."
"So the Fossil Lab is here? That's cool." I say.
"And those Pokemon are sure looking good." This time, we turn to notice Alexa approaching us.
"It's Alexa!" I gasp.
"Good to see you, it's been a while." Alexa says. "You all look well."
Calem is confused at the sudden arrival, and Serena says, "Oh, Calem, this is Alexa, she's a journalist and the sister of Viola."
"I see. It's nice to meet you." Calem says.
"So what brings you here anyway?" David asks.
"You saw Viola at the Battle Chateau, right?" Alexa asks.
"Yeah, it is thanks to her that I managed to get my Grand Duke Title there." I say. "She told me your next stop was going to be the Cyllage Gym. I needed to come this way to do some research for an article I've been working on and I was hoping to bump into you and so, voila! Here I am!"
"What kind of article?" Clemont asks.
"I'm writing about the Fossil Lab." Alexa says.
"That's cool, we're also heading there to see if we can lean Mega Evolution." Serena says.
"Recently the Fossil Lab made a huge discovery, and that's why I'm writing my article about it." Alexa says, and now I'm wondering what the big discovery is.
But when we head to the Fossil Lab, we are greeted by a scientist, "Welcome, future archaeologists! You were drawn here by the mystique of Fossils no doubt!"
Calem says, "My name is Calem. We're researching Mega Evolution. Do you know anything about it?"
"Oho! So you're Professor Sycamore's students! I've heard about you! Mega Evolution, you say... I'm sorry, but all I know is that it has something to do with mysterious stones... Still, since you're students of the Professor, you must know about Pokemon Fossils, correct?"
"Of course." I say.
"Wonderful! I expect no less than Professor Sycamore's students. That's right! Fossils are the legacy of prehistoric Pokemon! You should really go to the dig site and see the real thing firsthand."
"Is that so? Well, if you don't know anything about Mega Evolution..." David mutters.
"Hold on! Pokemon that can be restored from Fossils just might have something to do with Mega Evolution." Another researcher says. "The assistant in Glittering Cave right now might know about that!"
Alexa says, "And what about the huge discovery? I'm a journalist and I'm here to make a report of the discovery."
"Oh, you mean that, sorry to say that the door is locked, and the assistant in the Glittering Cave has the key." The researcher says.
"Great... As long as I'm here, I guess I'll go see that assistant. Heading to Glittering Cave, guys?" Calem asks.
"Sure." Serena says as we all head out to the Glittering Cave.
When we arrive at Route 9, also known as the Spikes Passage, we find that it is a place that isn't for human walking. Bonnie says, "There sure are a lot of spikes... how are we going to get through?"
"That's easy. We have the Rhyhorn renting station!" Elline says while we notice the sign and the ranch of Rhyhorn.
"So we have to ride Rhyhorn to get past the place..." Serena shudders a little as she can see the stares from the Rhyhorn.
We borrow four Rhyhorn, Serena and I ride one, then Clemont and Bonnie, David and Calem, and finally Elline and Alexa. The 8 of us are through the road until I find a Helioptile on the road and capture it on the way.
Helioptile: The Generator Pokemon: Electric and Normal Type. They make their home in deserts. They can generate their energy from basking in the sun, so eating food is not a requirement.
Once they reach the end, Bonnie says, "That is a ride! I want to do it again!"
"No, definitely not..." Clemont says. He looks like he's about to pass out. He really doesn't have any motor skills whatsoever.
After that, we decide to leave the Rhyhorn and enter the Glittering Cave.
Inside the cave is really dark, but the Luminous Moss and crystals are shining inside. There are some wild Pokemon like Onix or Rhyhorn living in the cave, and not to mention I find another Mega Stone.
"Check this out... it's another Mega Stone." I say while picking it up.
"You're right... I wonder what kind of Mega Stone that is." Calem says.
But as we try to pick the Mega Stone, we notice a lot of Kangaskhan seem to be attracted to it. "That might be a Kangaskhanite." Elline says.
"Yeah... I can see that with the Kangaskhan staring at the stone..." Serena says.
Then we try to escape the Kangaskhan until we reach the main part of the cave, but we see the orange-outfit people there.
"What's this? Well, well. What do we have here? Some nosy little Trainers have come poking around. Listen up! We're the fashionable team whose very name makes people tremble in fear: Team Flare! Team Flare's goal is to make it so we're the only ones who are happy! We don't care one bit about what happens to other Trainers or Pokemon."
Just great, another evil team we need to deal with, and obviously we're not happy after hearing what he says. "Get out of here, kids. Don't you know not to play with fire?"
"And that's going to scare us?" Elline asks.
"Getting my fancy suit dirty isn't the stylish way to do things, but if you insist... I'll obliterate you! Get them, Houndour! Zubat!"
Really? He is not a match for us so I immediately send out Kangaskhan. "Let's see your new power! Mega Evolve!"
When Kangaskhan Mega Evolve, the little Kanga jumps out of the pocket and is now battling as well. "Use Comet Punch!" I command, and both the mother and the daughter are punching the Houndour at the same time.
"Usually it is the mother that does the attacking... but now both of them are attacking?" Alexa asks.
"That's the ability Parental Bond, the only ability that Mega Kangaskhan can learn." Calem says.
After we defeat his team, he says, "What's this? You're pretty tough Pokemon Trainers for kids. But watch yourself! I'm not the only member of Team Flare."
Then we battle our way through with the Team Flare grunts, and after they all retreat, we find the assistant who doesn't seem to notice what's wrong.
"Why, hello! Here to look for Fossils as well?" The assistant asks.
"Was Team Flare here?" Calem asks.
"Teemphlair? What's that? A Pokemon?" We sweatdrop at this, and Serena says, "Don't worry about it... It looks like he was completely absorbed in looking for Fossils..."
"You guys are very lucky! I just now found two Fossils!" He says. "But they're both ones I already have, so I'll give one to each of you!"
And since Calem doesn't want it, Serena and I are the ones who take the Jaw Fossil and the Sail Fossil.
"I'll restore your Fossils and turn them back into Pokemon at the Fossil Lab! Hope to see you there!" Then the scientist just leaves, and Calem says, "So, we went looking for the assistant, and we found that suspicious group called Team Flare as well... Still, with those Team Flare people running around, it would be better to train more so I can travel safely. I guess the best thing to do to get tougher is challenge the Cyllage City Gym."
"You're right." I say.
After getting back to the Fossil Lab, our Fossils are getting restored. At the same time, the assistant wants us to put on heavy clothing, and then we enter what seems to be an icy place.
"What is this place?" Serena asks.
"It looks like a giant freezer in here." Clemont says.
"Sorry, we set the room temperature low for the comfort of the Pokemon in here." The assistant says.
And because the floor is slippery, I fall to the ground, and that's when an Amaura comes to us.
"An Amaura!" David says, "It's a Pokemon from long ago believed to have lived in a frozen area of the Kalos Region way, way up north."
"You're quite well informed. These Pokemon have been extinct since long, long ago." The scientist says. And that's when an Aurorus also shows up. "And that's Amaura's evolved form Aurorus."
"It's huge..." Bonnie says.
"Amaura and Aurorus... they are alive! That must be the big discovery..." Calem says. "Not fossils but real living Pokemon..."
"Our fossil lab sent out an excavating group that discovered something in a glacier far to the north. And what we restored from that frozen Sail Fossil is what you now see in front of you."
Then we decide to play with the two Pokemon, and we also learn that Amaura and Aurorus live in an era where they have no enemies, so they are very trusting and friendly. Although we stay for a while, it is time for us to leave because we need to warm up. That's when the fossils have been revived. And the first one that comes out is a Tyrunt.
"And that's a Tyrunt." The assistant says. "It is also a Dragon Type."
"Wow, it sure looks strong." Elline says.
"It sure is." Serena says.
Tyrunt then opens his eyes and looks at me, who says, "Hello."
Tyrunt jumps back and says, "Are you an enemy?"
I gasp, "Wait, Tyrunt. We are your friends. I am Ash, this is my partners Pikachu, Absol, and Zoroark."
Then everyone introduces themselves, Tyrunt says, "So this is your army? Does that mean that I am recruited? Are you my new Lieutenant?"
We sweat drop at what he's saying. I say, "Um, Tyrunt, I don't know what time zone you are in, but this is not a fortress and we are not soldiers."
Everyone is surprised as the Tyrunt is saying those stuff. Tyrunt says, "I am sorry Lieutenant, but a soldier needs to be ready for upcoming attacks."
Serena gives a bitter laugh and says, "So Lieutenant, huh? Ash?"
"Yeah..." I groan, and that's when another fossil is ready, but instead of a normal Amaura, this one is fully white.
"Its color is so different from the one we saw..." Bonnie says.
"That means this is a shiny Pokemon! A Shiny Amaura, what a surprise." Elline says.
"Lillie and Alice are going to get really crazy if you show them that." Serena says.
Tyrunt: The Royal Heir Pokemon: Rock and Dragon Type. This Pokémon was restored from a fossil. If something happens that it doesn't like, it throws a tantrum and runs wild.
Amaura: The Tundra Pokemon: Rock and Ice Type. This ancient Pokémon was restored from part of its body that had been frozen in ice for over 100 million years.
After we go back in to play with Amaura and Aurorus again, we decide to leave this time because we need to go to Cyllage City. And before farewell, I receive a Mega Stone of Aerodactyl as a gift from the researcher, which is actually cool since Mega Aerodactyl has Tough Claws like Metagross that power up moves that make contact. We also bid farewell to Alexa and Calem as we continue our journey.
Here is a new chapter, and in this chapter, this is the Fossil Lab. The next chapter will be Cyllage City Gym and also some other things. I hope you like it.
