Hello! It's here, it's done, the big wedding special. I changed this one the most due to my dislike to the OG wedding special but it's still true to the core theme. Also, Carlos is in this fic. Descendants did a wonderful tribute to him and I'm glad they made the choices they did because you couldn't simply replace him. But fanfic is a written medium and, in a world where I can make anything happen, Carlos is alive and well.

Enjoy!

Chapter 1: The Best

Nine months was a long time. A long time to wait. But according to Audrey, the daughter of Aurora and Phillip, nine months was barely any time at all.

Ben watched her run around her sunroom/sewing den in her newly refurbished castle, circling and crossing things off hundreds of to-do lists tapped to her windows, her deep pink hair flying behind her.

"You do know it's my wedding, right?" Ben asked.

Audrey huffed before turning around, brows tight. "But it's more than that. It's a royal wedding, for one thing. And it's the merger of Auradon and the Isle represented in two people, two rulers! Everything we've worked for has been leading to this."

"Yes, because that was our exact plan when we came to Auradon," Ben laughed.

Once upon a time, the queen of the Wicked States of Auradon had invited four children of imprisoned heroes from the Isle of the Forgotten to come and attend Auradon Prep. While Ben's father had been determined to use his children to gain his freedom, Ben, Audrey, Chad, and Jane had each found something to love in Auradon. Something they were missing. They, instead, chose to stay. They found who they were, both hero and villain, while they grew up. And now they were helping other children find their way to Auradon with the magical barrier around the Isle charmed to let those with wicked hearts were free to pass at their leisure.

Ben in particular had found a home in Auradon with his fiancé, High Queen Mal of Auradon. For him, the wedding couldn't come soon enough.

For Audrey and Dizzy, the wedding planners, they were still finding countless things to do.

"So, to recap." Audrey's heels clicked as she paced in front of Ben. "Next week you and Mal have cake tastings, your suit and her dress are in the sketch stage, but I will need consultations with both of you to finish the design. Dizzy ordered the flowers, and invitations were sent out. Congrats, you're done for the day."

"I think you're forgetting something," Ben smirked.

"How?! What is it?" Audrey began running her finger down the many lists. "Page boys, fire girl, the officiant, the menu, the cocktails, the coattails, the venue and reception hall-"

"Speeches?"

Audrey glared at him. "I'm not writing your wedding vows."

"I know. But the Best Man and Maid of Honor normally speak too."

"Also not writing those."

"You're gonna write one of them."

Audrey's eyes widened with understanding. She was smiling. "Oh Ben…but what about Chad? And I don't fit the description of 'Best Man.'"

"And I don't fit the description of a wicked king, yet here we are." Ben took Audrey's hands. "We were never supposed to fit in this world, but we've made our own place in it. And that journey was long and hard and terrifying but through it all, you were with me. You've been my best friend ever since the Isle, when we would bake burnt sand cookies and read story books together. You're my family, Audrey. I can't think of anyone, other than Mal, that I want by my side for the rest of my life.

"So, Audrey of the Isle, will you be my Best Ma'am?"

Her dark eyes were full of tears, but she nodded. "Yes, I'd love to."

And when they hugged, they could feel the history and bonds of their friendship, stronger than ever, tying them together.

"Guess that means you need to make a Best Ma'am dress now," Ben laughed, stepping back.

Audrey strutted over to her closet and grabbed a hanging dress bag. "Oh, I already did."

"What?"

She unzipped the bag, showing off a deep purple dress with a wide-V collar similar to her mother's that she was now reclaiming. The circle skirt was cut jagged, layered over a fiery green under skirt, and it was all tied together with a dark bramble belt at the waist, matching their wedding colors perfectly.

"You've outdone yourself. But wait, did you know I was going to ask you?"

Audrey shook her head. "No, but I've been planning what I'd wear to your wedding since Cotillion."

Ben chuckled. "Of course. Only you, Audrey."

She smirked. "Just wait until you see what I'm making for Mal. You're going to die."

When he imagined Mal in a wedding dress, he thought he just might.

"Beach or mountains?"

Mal looked up from her (very large) desk to see Evie entering her palace office, cellphone out, stiletto nails clicking away.

"Um, hi to you too?" Mal replied, pushing her dragon scale leather chair away from the laws she was reviewing. "Beach or mountains for what?"

Evie looked at her like she'd just asked how to steal candy from a baby. "For your bachelorette, duh! You're the queen, it has to be epic."

Mal sighed, pressing her fingers into her brow. The whole point of having wedding planners was so she did not have to make decisions. Weddings, parties of any kind, were not her thing. Ruling her kingdom was. But for the last nine months it had been flowers and party favors and lace and everything under the cloudy sky.

Evie had nearly impaled her when she suggested eloping instead.

"What if we just stayed in? A sleepover, midnight conjuring, bloody middle school girls party like we used to have?" Something that would not require Audrey to pack thirty outfits for Mal, unlike this wedding.

Why did she even need a rehearsal dinner pantsuit?

Evie was already tapping on her phone. "Uma said she'd bring the karaoke machine. So, you know she'll be singing 'Poor Unfortunate Souls' like twenty times."

"Thrilling." She turned her attention to a memo left by Queen Gothel regarding the labs working to reconstruct the sun drop flower and who would be allowed access to it. "Oh, Audrey wants to talk to you about your dress. She wants you two to match but not match too much."

"Um, I'm going with Doug," Evie laughed. The dwarf's son was in awe of nearly everything she did, and she found that to be the best quality in a partner. "Not Audrey."

"Yeah, but when you two walk down the aisle, you have to look good."

Mal smirked when she heard Evie gasp.

Her green eyes met her dark ones when she looked up. Evie's hands were over her red lips that were open in shock.

Mal laughed as she stood up. "Life is a crazy trip, full of evil laughter, tears, and everything in between and there is only one person who has been with me through it all. You are my best friend, and you are like a sister to me, after so many years of pranking and scheming and magical slumber parties. So, on the greatest day of my life, would you be my maid of honor?"

"Yes!" Evie squealed, embracing Mal tightly. "This is going to be the best wedding ever!"
