Chapter 17. Letters

Mother,

Would you be so kind as to explain to me why I was ambushed with the news of the truth behind those roses you kept in the back corner of your garden? There I stood, waiting for Daisy to return with Black Dragons and instead she comes back with Gentle Hermione's! How could you keep this from me mother? I could have been giving them to her long before now! Why wait? Why keep secrets? What else have you not told me? I know you're home so I expect you to respond quickly.

Your Son

Dearest Draco,

I am remorseful that you would think me so cruel as to ambush you, that was never my intent. When I saw Daisy preparing the Black Dragons I just knew you needed something even more special. I figured it would be a love surprise. Had I realized how you would truly react, I would have offered the information earlier so you would have it at your own disposal. Truthfully the chance to inform you never came up, but I do hope it didn't spoil your morning too awful much. Did she recognized the breed? I would imagine a woman with the title "brightest witch of her age" would. I hope to meet her soon.

With all my love,

Your Mother

Mother,

Hermione did recognize the roses; she educated me on all the rose breeds that are named for Shakespeare characters. She would love the Manor gardens, but I don't want her anywhere near those memories and "that room". She's been through enough. She has, however, been agreeable to have tea with you if you will join us here in her home this weekend. We were thinking Sunday. Let me know if this works for you.

Your Son

Dearest Draco,

It surprises me not that a well read witch would be so knowledgeable in floral breeds. I am elated that she enjoyed them. As for the Manor, I have been debating several options in regards to the future of the property that I would like to talk to you about in person. Which leads me to my response to your invitation to tea; I would gladly join you and Miss Granger on Sunday. If you would inform me of the exact time I would appreciate it. Should I bring anything as a gift?

Always my love,

Your Mother

Mother,

My hope is that your plan to burn the Manor to the ground. There is no love is there, and you deserve to live somewhere that feels like a home. As for arrival time, 11am would be fine, if that is agreeable to you. If you would like to bring a gift, any book from the library will do, but Hogwarts: A History is her favorite. Please remember to check and make sure there are no curses on them, I could not handle anything else happening to her.

Love,

Your Son

My Darling Son,

I shall be there at 11am. I believe I have just the gift from our library for Miss Granger. We can also discuss the fate of the Manor while I am there as I imagine you would want the opinion of the woman you love when it comes to your inheritance. Don't deny it Draco, a mother knows; I have known since long before you ever recognized that there was a bond, so do not insult me by lying to me. She is a wonderful witch, be proud of how you feel.

Always my love,

Your Mother

Mother,

I can not deny anything you claim of me. I do love her, but she has been through enough, I will not push feelings onto her that she is not yet ready for. Please try to not press on future plans, even out of curiosity, she still has triggers that we are working through. I shall see you Sunday.

Love,

Your Son
