-Lillian struggles with new challenges she never realized
-Mystery man is conflicted
Lillian woke up early in the morning. Oddly she had a dreamless sleep that night. She was laying on her back and felt an extra weight draped across her stomach. She brushed sleep from her eyes and turned her head to the side to see Dean asleep next to her. He was knocked out with his head turned in the opposite direction, letting out a light snore with each breath every now and then. His left arm was draped across her waist in a way as if to protect her from all the bad that could go bump in the night like the good brother he is. He had a strong hold but, she was stronger.
Lillian as gently, yet firmly as she could, untangled herself and got out of bed. She left for the bathroom, noticing Sam wasn't in his bed or in the room. She went in and did her early morning activities to wake up and get ready to start her day.
Walking outside after freshening up in the bathroom, still in her pajamas and only socks, she spotted Sam jogging around the building. She waved over to him but he didn't notice. She thought about flying behind him and scaring him by sneaking up stealthily but she couldn't risk being caught teleporting for a prank. So she decided to just walk up to him head on and catch his attention. After walking a few feet he noticed her and starting walking towards her direction. "How long have you been out here?" she asked.
"Not long" Sam answered.
"You always wake up and go for a run? This early morning exercise thing is new."
"Yeah.. I had trouble sleeping" Sam answered nervously.
"Why? What's going on?" Lillian asked worried.
Sam seemed conflicted. He still hasn't told her about what happened the night he left Stanford. There are more things he still hasn't told her and he's ashamed to. She wouldn't understand. "I've been having nightmares" he told her.
"What are they about? You know you can tell me anything" she feels like a hypocrite saying this.
"When I was at Stanford I had a girlfriend, Jess.. Jessica, the thing that killed mom got to her too. I've been having nightmares about it."
Lillian looked up at him and saw the sad look in her twins eyes and it was almost like she could feel his pain. She touched his arm and wrapped her arms around his waist burying her head in his chest hoping he embraces the warm embrace. "I'm sorry for your loss."
He quickly wiped a tear from his eye he didn't realize was slipping and wrapped his arms around her, resting his head atop hers. "Thank you."
"Is there anything else that's going on?" She asked.
He gave her a look like he wanted to say more. There is the visions, yes he will tell her about the visions. He can't tell her about the other thing that's eating him alive. The guilt he feels. Why he had to push himself away from his precious sister.
He pulled his arms away, "I've been having visions.."
This took her aback. Not what she was expecting to hear. She honestly wishes she could just tap his forehead and search his being without being questioned and exposed. Her brothers don't even know about her kind's existence. She knows he is not a psychic, she would sense it, this has to be something else. She's gonna have to get in touch with her father about this one.
"What kind of visions?" She questioned.
He took a deep breath and looked down preparing himself to give her his answer. "I saw Jess die before it happened."
Their conversation was cut short when Dean opened the room door yelling out to them "C'mon we got work to do!"
Lillian hung back at the Motel while Sam and Dean went to the ranger station to find out any info they can on what's going on at Blackwater Ridge. They insisted she stay behind because 'they don't need three people posing as environmental study majors.' Why even bring her along if she's just going to be holed up in a room. She took this opportunity to pray to Gabriel.
"Dad if you are listening-" she was cut off by the sound of wings and turned around to him behind her. "Why so antsy to answer my call?"
"What have you been up to with your two knucklehead brothers? Staying out of trouble? No sinning..?" He asked smirking. Gabriel was nervous about her possible corruption.
"John is missing. Don't have a clue about how, we are following the trail he left. We just started a case... I've been a good Sunday school student." She said rolling her eyes
He stared at her nodding at her response, "Be careful not to reveal yourself."
"I know."
"Keep your temper at bay." He warned.
"What do you mean?"
"The last time you got all temperamental teen on me your eyes glowed red, without your control! We don't need anyone else seeing that."
"…I'll try." She responded softly.
That made her nervous. She forgot her eyes did that if she was being honest. It's not like she can see herself unless she's looking in the mirror. If her brothers saw that they would think she's a monster. They would want her dead. Maybe they should a part of her thinks.
"I still haven't found anything on why they are that color but I'm not done looking." he said.
He looked as if he was about to go but she stopped him. "Wait there's something I need to ask you about. Sam. He's been having visions, premonitions. Do you know why? Does it have anything to do with Azazel?"
"It could…" He looked like he was thinking. "I can look into that too." He gave her a quick hug and left.
Dean and Sam returned and filled Lillian in on where they were off to. Apparently this girl Hayley's brother was missing and they were going to go over and question her about the disappearance.
Once they were there Hayley opened the door and as per usual she asked to see ID, the siblings showed theirs, posing as park rangers and were let inside. Dean made a quiet comment to Sam about how hot he thinks Hayley is which Lillian heard, it earned him a step on the back of his shoe while she muttered "be professional" to him.
Lillian was standing by Dean as she listened to Sam question Hayley. Hayley pulled up pictures and videos sent over by her missing brother Tommy from his satellite phone. Sam and Lillian pulled up two chairs and went through them to see if they could find anything of relevance to the case.
Later that evening the siblings are sitting together in a bar. Sam has his laptop out with Tommy's most recent pictures and videos emailed by Hayley. Lillian is looking out at the crowd not really paying attention to what Sam and Dean are saying even though she knows she should be. She likes being in busy restaurants but after a while it's too tiring.
"Lily"
"Lily!" They both called her name
"Hell! What?" She said with sass.
Sam moved his chair next to her and turned his laptop towards her. "Look at this. It's the video from Tommy." He then clicked three times. Lillian saw the thing move in the back. Sam looked back up at her and said "That's three frames, it's a fraction of a second. Whatever that thing is. It can move."
Sam also mentioned the only survivor of the grizzly attacks. Just a kid, still alive now.
"I'm betting it's a wendigo" Lillian said.
Her brothers looked at her silent. A bit cut off from what they were talking about. She had been quiet the whole time just now to speak up.
"They aren't native over here" Dean firmly said.
"What else do you know that moves like that? It looks huge. The manner of the kills make sense, did they even find all the bodies?" she said all knowingly.
Dean shook his head at her like she's crazy for thinking that. She felt they shouldn't avoid all options for possible monsters on a case until it's proven they aren't there. Always be prepared. Unless facts prove otherwise.
After they left the bar Lillian asked to be dropped off at the motel saying she was feeling too tired while they left to go talk to the survivor. She got changed for the night and went to her side of the shared bed with Dean. She crashed as soon as her head hit the pillow.
She was engulfed with darkness again. She missed this the night prior. Walking forward she was face to face with the cage yet again.
"Why couldn't I see you last night?" She questioned disappointingly.
She could feel something off about him. There was an angry vibe in the air. Maybe it was sad? "Did I upset you?"
"No.." he spoke finally.
"Then why couldn't I see you last night? That hasn't happened once since I turned 21."
He sighed, "I didn't want to see you."
"Oh, did I do something wrong?"
He hated this. He hated that he could hear in her voice the little tremble when he said he willingly turned her away last night. He hated that he hated it. It made him feel vile. Human. Fucking humans. Their stupid feelings, they weigh them down, he didn't want that. He shouldn't have that. He is powerful. He shouldn't care about what some girl thinks of him.
Enraged thinking about it and enraged by his own feelings betraying him he answered "I sensed a mans presence beside you as you slept last night."
She couldn't hide her smile. It didn't matter if she hid it, he can't see her. Him being jealous was kinda a turn on for her. "That was my brother." He can know that one intimidate detail. There's no harm in that, right? If it'll soothe this rage then so be it.
"You have a brother?" he asked in a relived tone.
"Yes, I have a brother."
"You never mentioned him to me" he said upset.
"We never talk about our families because it's off the table, remember? I also didn't get in contact with him again until recently." She told him. He was silent after that.
"Why are you so jealous all of a sudden? Are you starting to like like me?" She teased him.
"Are we children?"
"You're avoiding it" she laughed.
"No"
"I should be worried, who knows who else is here visiting you when I'm not around.."
"No one is" he said crestfallenly.
"I'm sorry... Can I be honest?"
"What is it?" he asked suspiciously.
"I wish I could truly meet you one day."
"One day you will, sooner than you think."
She woke up to Sam and Dean already dressed with breakfast at the table waiting for her. They could've at least woken her up when they got up. Makes her feel out of the loop. They got her a donut and coffee at least. Today they are going out to Blackwater Ridge to crash Hayley and her guide on their hunt to look for her brother Tommy.
While walking through the forrest Roy, the guide, and Dean keep going back and forth with each other. Hayley is suspicious with the siblings true identity based on how they are dressed and what they brought with them. Lillian is just staying in the back of the pack with Sam avoiding arguments and confrontation, quietly observing. She hears Dean admit to Hayley that John might be in the forrest and that they are siblings just looking for their dad.
As Sam and Lillian pass the pair talking she looks up at him and quietly says "Do you really think dad is here?" She hates calling John her father.
He looks down at her "I don't know but I hope we at least have a sign from him, a clue at least to have a trail to him."
"I don't think he's here." The rest of their walk was in silence.
They reached coordinates 35,-11 and that's where everything went wrong. It was dead silent. They found the campsite that belonged to Hayley's brother and it was torn up and covered in blood. Hayley foolishly started running off calling for Tommy but Sam luckily stopped her.
Dean found tracks where the bodies were dragged from the campsite. Though the tracks just vanished. Lillian walked up to Sam and Dean and heard Dean telling Sam "It's no skinwalker or black dog."
"That's because it's a wendigo" she said in an obvious tone.
Dean ignored her. She was annoyed. It's almost as if he can't let his younger sister be right, be better than him. This is reminding her of when John never let her be right.
They walked back to where everyone else was and that's when they heard it. A loud cry for help. Literally. "HELP! PLEASE! SOMEBODY HELP ME!"
Everyone ran towards the direction of the sound but found no source. Roy held up his gun ready. Hayley confused asked "It seemed like it came from around here right?"
Lillian just stood there annoyed while her brothers looked around on edge. "We should all go back to camp" She ordered after being quiet the whole time.
Surprisingly they followed her and they made their way back to find all their stuff gone. Everyone was complaining about the missing items. Sam was commenting about how it's smart and want to cut them off from the outside world.
Lillian just looked at Dean and mouthed 'Wendigo' to him. He gave her the death glare of a lifetime. Then she watched Sam pull Dean aside so she went to follow. She saw them looking at Johns journal and oh the joy in her eyes. She was right. It is a wendigo. They were looking at Johns entry, Sam was pointing it out to Dean. Lillian looked up at Dean and before she could say anything he pointed a figure at her and said "Shut it" then started walking back to camp. Sam looked at Lillian with an apologetic look for not believing in her more and followed Dean.
Roy was getting on Lillian's nerves. Sam was trying to direct the group to safety. She understood it's a confusing situation but Roy was just being plain stupid. This was not a grizzly that was plain obvious.
By nightfall there were many anasazi symbols surrounding the group to protect them from the wendigo. Roy kept poking fun and it kept pissing Lillian off more. She kept quiet the whole time though. She closed her eyes with deep breathes, remembering what her father told her. Sam looked over at her and whispered "you okay?"
"Yeah just working on anger management, not a Roy fan."
He chuckled, "Yeah me neither."
Lillian walked off and joins a conversation with Hayley and her brother Ben while Sam and Dean are having a moment. They hear the mocking calls of the wendigo again. The cries for help.
"It's trying to draw us out. Just stay cool, stay put." Dean said.
"Inside the magic circle?" Roy mocked.
The wendigos screaming cries turned more morbid and Lillian could tell it unhinged the group of non hunters more. Even Roy seemed unnerved having never heard a sound like that before. Though the foolish man got trigger happy and shot the wendigo and left the anasazi symbols to go after it and try to finish his kill.
Everyone except Roy was intact inside the symbols the next day. Lillian and Sam informed the group about what they are going after and the history of wendigos. They might as well know the truth after what they saw the night before. Dean was gathering things around camp to make molotovs.
They start waking through the woods again to search for a trail to torch the wendigo. That's when they hear it again and start running in different directions. Sam and Ben ran in one direction while Hayley and Dean in another and Lillian in another. They were all running and running until they heard a feminine scream come from one of the directions. Lillian stopped running and looked around. She had no clue who was with who. She was all by herself. She knows she shouldn't fly but now would be a really good time to so she could find her brothers.
She ran fast back in the opposite direction. Fuck it she thought, she screamed for her brothers "SAM, DEAN!" The wendigo can't hurt her anyways.
She kept running and yelled out a few more times when she heard Sam. "LILY?!" He yelled.
She followed the sound of his voice and made a sharp left and kept running. She eventually found him and hugged him glad that he was okay. "Where's Dean and Hayley?"
"It got them." Sam said.
They had been walking now. Trying to pick up a trail to find them. Lillian had been freaking out. The wendigo can't hurt her. She could easily just snap her fingers and she could disintegrate it. But her precious brothers are so fragile. This is the first time she's hunting with them since having her powers and she's just now realizing how valuable all their lives are. How scary this is. She can't do anything or her secrets will be revealed. How did she live the past 20 years of her life living without her powers? So weak. How do humans do this? She doesn't understand it anymore. She's never felt so useless then in this moment where she cannot instantly save her brother. It almost made her angry.
Ben pulled Lillian out of her self loathing thoughts when he squat down and picked something off the ground. It was a peanut M . Specifically Deans from earlier that he insisted he had to bring for fuel. "They went this way" Ben declared." They all chuckled at Deans 'breadcrumb trail'.
The trio followed the trail all the way to an abandoned mine. They enter warily, spotting the wendigo, they hide against the walls. As it passes them they continue walking but then suddenly Sam and Ben fall through the old rotted floors. Lillian peaks below and sees them laying on the ground, still intact. She jumps down. "Are you guys okay?"
"Yeah" Sam answered, Ben nodded.
Lillian looked and ran forward to see Dean and Hayley hanging from their arms on the other side of the hall. She ran up to Dean. Sam followed.
"Dean, Dean Are you okay?" Lillian shook him gently. Sam was patting him. Dean struggled to open his eyes but acknowledged them "Yeah."
Ben was tending to his sister. They cut the pair down and sat them down. That's when Hayley realized her brother Tommy was there and he was still alive. They cut him down. Dean found two flare guns to use on the wendigo to take it out as they heard it returning.
Dean started luring the wendigo in one direction to take it out while Sam had a flare gun leading the group to safety with Lillian. She helped Hayley walk out and Ben helped Tommy walk.
As they got to the exit they heard the wendigo close and Sam was going to stay behind to take it out. Lillian directed the group out of the mines.
She turned around just to see the wendigo sneak up behind Sam and this was about to be her stupidest moment because she flew behind him in an instant. It was so fast. No one saw. Hayley and her brothers were still turned around. She took the flare gun from Sam's hand and pushed him down. Then she shot the wendigo dead watching as it burned. Dean was running from the other tunnel catching up to them. Lillian helped Sam up and they all fled the mines.
Once they made their way back to the rangers station the police and ambulance were called to help out the injured.
Lillian overhears Sam and Dean talking "We are going to find Dad."
"I know we are."
She moved in next to them to lean on the impala too. Sam then turns towards her. He gives her a questioning look "When you pushed me out of the way to save me, how did you get there so fast? I could've sworn you were halfway down the tunnel by that time"
"I had a twin sense you were in danger and an adrenaline rush I guess it made my legs run faster.." she answered.
He chuckled at her "good thing for that then, thank you."
She nodded and all three siblings headed for the impala on the road again.
