Chapter Seven
Summary:
- Gabriel confronts Lillian about her hunting
- Lillian learns something about the man in the cage
Walking through the warehouse, uncaring of the noise her step made, she sought out her prey. She wanted them to be alerted by her presence. To know she was there and to come and get her. Machete sheathed on her side, full of adrenaline. Lillian was ready.
The old building she's in was a mess. This nest of vampires she was dealing with had no care for their living environment. Disgusted now, she was coming up to a shelf that had various items scattered on it. There was a small tool box. She slowly pushed it off causing a loud crash and all the tools to spill onto the ground. That'll make 'em come.
As if on cue there was a vamp right behind her. Flashing his row of fangs in a displaying warning manner. He started to run towards her while she unsheathed her machete. Before he could fully reach her, she flew behind him and with a quick slice his head was dropped to the floor. Plopped in a puddle of his own blood. Quick and efficient, she thought.
She wanted them all to come at her so she can get it all done quickly. If she has to seek them out then it makes it more tricky. A vamp could get away or there could be a hostage they threaten. She knows how to hunt the careful slow way obviously but she was being lazy and felt antsy to get it done. If they are all there coming for her in one group it's easier. She went towards the direction the vamp came from and was faced with three more vamps.
Two went to hold her down. She wanted to give the weaker beings a chance at a fair fight but was getting annoyed to get this over with. Lillian threw them to the ground with her mind. The third one took an anxious step back and watched the whole scene unfold. One of the two she threw down got up and lunged at her again, teeth bared. She grabbed him by the shirt with her left hand lifting him off his feet as he thrashed, beheading him with her machete from the other hand.
She turned towards the other two. The nervous one started turning back, he ran deep down the hall towards where the rest of the nest is. "Hey don't leave me alone with this guy, he looks like he doesn't have fun at parties!" Lillian yelled towards him as she turned towards the other vamp throwing him against the wall not giving him a chance to fight back. She finished him off and flew down the hall finding six more plus the one from earlier. Swiftly she beheaded all of them.
Just as she was about to clean off her machete she heard a flutter of wings and looked up to see her father.
"What are you doing here? How did you find me?" Lillian asked Gabriel. Her father never went directly to the scene of her cases/hunts before.
"I'll always be able to find you. Looks like you had fun here…"
She ignored him and turned down to her machete, cleaning the blood off of it. She stared at the blood. Feeling adrenaline pump through her veins again looking at it. A scary part of her wanted to take her time killing those vamps. That part of her wanted it to be more bloody and personal. A part of her wishes she gave in to her urges. What was wrong with her? She doesn't understand why she's been having these thoughts.
"Lillian what are you thinking about?" Gabriel was looking at his child zoned out. Her eyes changed from green to that shade of crimson that worried him, scared him if he was being honest.
"Huh what?" She looked up, her eyes changed back to green.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing. Why are you here? Did something happen?"
"No not particularly.. honey I think you should take a break from hunting for a little bit" Gabriel said slowly and nervously.
"WHAT? Why !! Is this because you want me to go back and make up with my brothers? I know haven't seen them in weeks." She stood up now pacing the room.
"No, this has nothing to do with tweedle dee and dum. I'm worried about what hunting is doing to your… psyche" Gabriel said, unsure if that was the right way to word his answer.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Lillian questioned obviously upset.
Gabriel walked closer to her and put a hand on her shoulder. He looked into her eyes with concern "You are corrupted and we don't know why. Killing things, even if its monsters might fester your soul and cause that corruption to grow before we can reverse it."
She looked at him coldly. She was angry. She doesn't want to stop hunting. If she quits hunting then what does she have left to do. "We don't even know why I'm like this, how would we even know how to reverse it? What if I'm already too far gone? Would you still try to fix me then? Would you still try to "fix me" if this is who I'm meant to be? What if this is who I am.."
He didn't particularly know how to respond then. This was painful for him. He just stared at her. In all honestly she was reminding him too much of his rebellious older brother. His brother who believed their father intentionally made him to become the rebellious fallen angel he is. Gabriel would never share these thoughts with her though. He doesn't know how she would react if he told her that.
She just stared at him and without a word flew away back to her motel.
Once back at her motel she striped off all her clothes and headed straight for the shower to wash all the dirt and blood off her.
Turning the shower knob all the way hot, she could already see steam starting to collect around the air. Lillian stepped in and and felt the water hit her back, relaxing with a sigh. She started washing her hair and thought to herself about what's been going on in her life. Sam used to try to attempt to call her and leave voice mails. He understood in a way why she did what she did. She's paranoid he's using that as ploy just to get the Azazel information she has from her to go kill him with Dean and leave her out of it. Dean hasn't attempted to talk to her yet and that hurt her. She's not ready to talk to Sam until Dean is ready to talk to her. She knows it's unfair but with they way they are sometimes lately it's like a two for one combo, if she starts talking to Sam he will try to drag her along again. She can't go with them and deal with an angry Dean, not until he's ready to be around her.
Lillian is also frustrated because she feels her connection with the man in the cage. She doesn't understand it. It's like he's apart of her in a way she can't describe. She's done various research on it and looked into lore on the dreams she's having and nothing comes up. She knows now it's real and she doesn't know who she's talking to but she's not scared by it. She's been embracing it. She can feel the energy of the room when she speaks to him. Lillian can tell he wants to push her away. The way he tries to manipulate answers or attempt to lie about how he feels. He cannot lie though. It's as if he's ashamed to feel anything towards her. She doesn't understand why he would be? No one can lie to her though so she sees right through him when he tries to hide through humor or topic changes. She may not be able to read his face but she can feel his energy shift. She wishes she could be closer to him and to know what he was but she knows it's not the time. If she were to ask then he would ask about her and as much as she trusts him she cannot reveal herself. He said they would meet soon but soon is taking too long.
Lillian finished up washing in the shower and stepped out wrapping a towel around herself to dry off. She went into the room to change into a pair of flannel sweats and a grey t-shirt for bed. She turned the light off and headed for bed. Getting under the blanket, she laid flat on her back drifting to sleep.
"Long day?" The voice so familiar to Lillian said.
"You could say that, anything eventful happen here?" she joked.
"The usual four barred walls and darkness.." the man responded bored.
"I wish this was like actual jail or prison visits, I would bring you a deck of cards or something."
"And what would I do with that?" He asked as if she asked a stupid question.
"Keep yourself entertained. If we could see each other then we could play cards when I come here."
"Why would I do that?" He said as if he was better than that.
Now he was pushing her. She rolled her eyes "Because it's fun. I'm quite competitive though."
"How does someone play cards?" He asked, while saying "cards" in a mocking tone.
Ignoring the last part she giggled at him, "There's so many different games to choose from, it's easiest to teach when there's a deck in front of you. When you are out I can teach you but I won't go easy on you. I have a feeling you're a sore loser."
Ignoring her comment he changed the topic. "There's something different about you. What happened today?"
She got quiet. "I don't want to talk about it."
"Oh I think you do" he pushed.
She fidgeted nervously with the hem of her shirt as she looked towards the ground. "I wanted to give into those urges I told you about."
"Tell me more about it"
"I was going after a vamp nest, vampires, at first I wanted to be cautious and careful like how I was taught to be when hunting. Then I just wanted them all to come at me. I didn't even want to use my machete anymore I wanted to use my hands and rip them to shreds."
He listened closely moving as close as he could get to the bars of the cage drinking in every word she was saying. His entire being was glowing for her rage. Something about it excited him. He could feel her passion and her remorse and as much as it disgusted him, he bathed in the feeling because it was her. Feeling it radiate off of her was something unworldly to him he's never experienced.
Getting angry now she continued "Then I was told I shouldn't hunt anymore because-" she stopped short. Lillian got nervous but more pissed at herself. She spoke too much, got carried away. Now he's going to start asking questions.
"Because?" he questioned.
"It doesn't matter."
"Tell me."
"I cannot. It doesn't concern you." She slightly raised her voice trying to get him to back away.
"You can't leaving me hanging there when it was just getting so good.." he said trying to convince her one more time to tell her. He had to know, who dare to tell her what she could and could not do? What was going on?
Lillian knows he's never going to let this go or he is going to be petty about it with her. He is literally in prison and who knows how long for even if he claims to be leaving soon, she can risk telling him one big secret as a distraction to avoid telling him two other secrets. What can he do about it from there?
"I'm a nephilim."
He went silent for a minute, she thought he didn't hear her until he said "You don't know who I am?"
"No? I can't see you at all, you couldn't see me either as far as I know. I know you are very powerful I can feel it."
"Yes, I could feel your power radiate very strongly as well. Do you know how strong you are? What power you possess?" he asked.
"I guess? I don't know I'm still learning, my grace was suppressed by my dad for the first twenty years of my life so it's still kinda new even though it's been a couple years. I don't know everything."
"I want to see you." the man demanded.
"That's impossible."
"Not for you, you are powerful, a nephilims power surpasses the one of their parent. You are only here through your subconscious, you can easy put your mind into the cage if you just think it, will it." He wants to know who her father is but he knows she won't answer. That's something to bother about another day. Today is for bigger things.
"I can try.." Lillian has never done anything as crazy as this. Flying yeah? But breaking her subconscious mind into a locked and warded prison? No. She's only ever flew, used mind control, conjuring things and super strength. Not counting her ability where she can always tell when someone is lying, she's always had that. She's thought about doing other things before but not thinking it was actually possible, her father didn't teach her it so she didn't know if it would be.
Lillian stood up and walked closer to the cage. She held her hands to the bars feeling the cold metallic warmth of it. Closing her eyes she focused. She thought about projecting her body inside, over and over. Just being in the cage. When she opened her eyes she was still touching the bars but from the opposite side of the cage. She was inside now.
Slowly turning around she saw him. He saw her. Lillian was speechless. He was beautiful. Majestic. Unlike anything she's ever seen before. Indescribable. She exhaled the breath she realized she had been holding.
"You're an angel" she stated. Having no vessel she gazed upon his true form mesmerized.
Her cheeks flushed and she felt sudden embarrassment looking down realizing now she's in her pajamas and barefoot in front of such a magnificent being. She hugged herself feeling perceived or judged by him.
The man stared at her, being this close to her felt like two magnets drawing closer and closer. He needed to touch her. It was hard holding back. He watched as she looked towards the ground away from him. He tilted her head back to look up at him "Not what you were expecting?"
"No. You're huge, I don't know how you fit in this cage"
"Thank you" he laughed.
He was still holding her face to look at him. It wasn't awkward though. She reached her hand out to hold onto the large arm that was reaching out towards her. She needed to feel him. She felt a sensation when her hand touched him she's never felt before. Like she belonged there. He let go of her face and she slid her hand down into his very large one. They never broke eye contact understanding they both had the same desire. She started walking towards him.
The sunlight shone bright through the curtains onto Lillian's face as she was cut off from her dream. Angrily opening her eyes realizing she's now awake she turns over with a groan. Upset her very good meeting was cut short. Lillian got up frustrated and started her day like usual looking forward to going to sleep that night.
