Chapter Sixteen

As soon as Dean received the coordinates from Lillian they dropped everything and rushed to her. She is not one to use coordinates. Something was off from the get go. They handed the case they were working on to another hunter and went off to find their sister.

When they saw her laying there on her bed they first assumed she was asleep. Which was weird because she was laying on top of the covers and she was dressed for a hunt. She even had her shoes on. It was also weird that she didn't wake up to them walking in the room and her door was unlocked. It was when the brothers approached her and tried to wake her up, they realized something was truly wrong.

They found the case she was working on and it looked to be a witch. They traced her steps to what looked like Melinda Longford's mansion, the presumed witch, only to find it vacant. They found traces of sulfur, blood and Lillian's gun in the kitchen.

They checked all the surroundings of her motel and found traces of sulfur as well. Their suspicions are a demon could have harmed the female Winchester considering they aren't on great terms with any demons and the common theme here is sulfur. Thinking that possibility over made the Winchester brothers incredibly guilty. More so Dean. If it was a demon that had done this then Dean felt that this was on him.

They had been hiding the truth from Lillian. They hadn't told her anything about the Sam's affiliation with the other psychic kids and the demon run ins they had. Dean didn't tell her what John said about Sam and Lillian before he died. Their run ins with the police because of that stupid shifter. They never even told her Sam was possessed. Sam and Dean thought she would be better off thinking that they are safe.

The boys took her back to Bobby's. Bobby has been out on a hunt with Rufus but they let him know everything that was going on. Dean was for sure going to have a word with Bobby as soon as he got back for lying to him about the whereabouts of his sister. They placed her in her usual room, on her bed. She laid there unmoving except for her slow breaths. It was unnerving.

They had an ex hunter friend who was a doctor now come by and look at her. He said "Physically she is in perfect condition. She looks fine. Her pupils are reacting as they should." He lifted her eyelid and shined a flashlight over her eye. "Her breathing sounds normal… Why aren't you bringing her to a hospital to get any scans done to make sure there isn't internal damage?"

Sam sighed and put his head down. Dean answered "We know something did this to her man, a demon probably. Whatever is happening, it ain't normal and I know she would not want to be holed up in some hospital. If she's physically fine then she can stay here."

Their friend nodded in understanding, "Alright well I would get an IV for her if I were you and treat it like a comatose state. She will still need her fluids." The brothers nodded and thanked their friend. They helped him see the door as he left the house once he finished up.

Now currently Dean was sitting downstairs on Bobby's couch as Sam tapped a pen at the desk as he was reading. Dean looked up from his hunched position at Sam, "Would you stop doing that?"

"What Dean?" Sam looked up and stopped tapping.

The tapping resumed again and Dean pointed towards Sam "THAT!"

Sam rolled his eyes at his brother annoyed "Dean I'm trying to find an actual solution for this. Let me read."

Dean felt bitter about everything. He just knew deep down this was on him. There was no way he could redeem himself for this one. He might not have been the one to hurt her but he could have prevented this. He felt so incredibly guilty. He hadn't seen his baby sister in so long. Now he sees her again she's in some type of coma. It had been days since she woke up last. He can't forgive himself. He got up and picked up his jacket from the chair, heading towards the door.

"Where are you going?" Sam asked.

"I need to clear my head."

Lillian and the man in the cage had been talking for a while now. She didn't remember initially falling asleep but she enjoyed her company with him. What was even better was she was now able to see him. She doesn't know what changed or what she did differently but when she arrived, she was in his prison with him. He was surprised and intrigued to see her suddenly there waiting for him.

Being face to face changed things for them. It was like two magnets being drawn together, though neither wanted to say it out loud. Lillian couldn't find a way to decipher how she felt about the angel who sat across from her. She just knows she needs him and she always will. Even if she doesn't know who he truly is.

"You're thinking about something" he commented on the look Lillian had on her face. She looked up at him and gave him a small smile and a shrug, "I'm always thinking."

"Penny for your thoughts?"

She hugged herself tightly and let out a sigh. "I feel like something is wrong. I enjoy being here with you, but I feel like I've been here longer than I'm supposed to be. Shouldn't I be waking up by now?"

She had been sleeping a long while and he knew that. He knew exactly how much time had passed but he wasn't gonna pass up the opportunity to be able to talk to her for this extended amount of time. To have her in the cage with him.. as a bunk mate? Why would he make her self aware and ruin something good going for him.

"I wouldn't worry about it. You know time passes differently here. Just enjoy it while it lasts" he advised her while placing a large hand on her back. She closed her eyes at the coldness that he radiated against her hot skin. It wasn't uncomfortable.

Leaning into his touch, she nodded "yeah you're right." She looked up at him mesmerized, feeling almost intoxicated by his presence. He looked down at her and they locked eyes. She felt her breath hitch as her thoughts started to drift to other places.

"You know I can read your thoughts if I choose to right?" he informed her. She turned her face away from him. He moved his hand from her back towards under her chin so she would look up at him again. It was almost in a way to display dominance.

She blushed at him as her eyes looked anywhere but towards his direction. His grip tightened against her so she would look up at him. "I figured you could, I can too when I have my grace. My bad for assuming you would be respectful" she sassed at him.

"I won't read them anymore if you don't want me to" he spoke with sincerity. He brushed her cheek with his fingers as he spoke.

Lillian touched his arm holding him. She enjoyed the cool touch of his skin. "Don't read them." She was a little annoyed she even had to make this request.

"I solemnly swear I won't"

"I think you are going soft on me. When we first started talking I remember you used to be meaner."

He couldn't be seen as soft. His image is falling. When he gets out if he has gone soft then how will he carry out his plans for the apocalypse? How will he fight his brother? What even is he doing with this stupid half breed anyways? His face hardened and turned cold but it didn't frighten her, "I'm anything but soft, don't be fooled. I'm just nice to you for my own gain."

It was her turn for her stare to turn sour at his sudden harshness. She crossed her arms over her chest. "For your own gain? Your own gain?!! What do YOU have to gain from in a cell? If you are trying to hurt me then you are pathetic in doing so, you lonely sad feathered dick. I'm like the only person you have to talk to.. Y'know what? Fuck your stupid "gain" you have no one to talk to anymore." Her eyes glowed red now as she finished yelling at him. She couldn't leave so she turned around and sat down with her back facing him. Silent treatment it is.

He shouldn't have done that. Why did he say that? Something in his grace felt regret for the actions he just made. This is a new feeling he isn't used to. Why is he feeling these things? Why does he care? He is so disgusted for stooping so low to considering that what he is feeling is almost at a human level. This is wrong. Though he couldn't stop himself from speaking the next words that came out of his mouth.

"I'm sorry" he touched her shoulder to get her attention as he spoke. Why is he apologizing? He is the second most powerful angel in existence, he should never have to apologize for his actions. People should be apologizing to him, cowering down in fear at his existence. Yet this defiant nephilim has him cowering down questioning his feelings.

She still ignored him. Lillian wasn't going to give in that easily, she was petty when she wanted to be. He sat down behind her and called out again "Lillian."

She slightly turned her head towards the side to listen to him. He fully put a hand on her shoulder and she leaned into him once again. Touching him brought a calmness to her entire being that was indescribable. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean what I said. I don't know why I said it."

Lillian leaned back into him so the back of her head was leaning against his chest. He wrapped his big arms around her waist. She sighed into his touch as she cradled her head into the crook of his neck. "Fine but I'm onto you.."

She felt his chest rumble as he let put a low chuckle. He moved his head to look down at her. Their faces inches away from each other. "Whatever you say Lillian." As much as he tries to push her away or start a fight with her to get her to hate him, he can't seem to find himself wanting to let her go.
