Chapter Nineteen
The next few days Lillian was adjusting to being awake in the real world again. It most certainly felt different than she last remembered…
For starters when she first awoke it was dead in the middle of the night. She looked around the house quietly to discover that only Bobby was home. He was slouched over, passed out on his desk. Probably exhausted from a hunt or something because it looked like he fell asleep mid reading. She tip toed her way back upstairs and waited until morning to make herself known.
Once the sun rose and Bobby was heard walking around downstairs, she popped her head through the doorway and made her way down the stairs. The second she reached the last step, a shotgun clicked in her direction.
"Hold it right there!" Bobby said gruffly.
Lillian raised her head up with her hands in the air and gave Bobby a cheeky grin. Bobby dropped the shotgun to the floor. He took his hat off and rubbed his hand over his eyes in disbelief by who was standing in front of him. "Lil..? Is that really you?"
She nodded her head and walked more into the room. Tearing up as she felt the emotion sweating off the older man she stretched her arms out to him in a comforting hug. He was in total shock. The boys tried so hard to wake her. They did everything they knew. Yet here she was standing and he didn't have a clue as to why. As she wrapped her arms around him to offer him comfort in his shocked state he wavered a moment before he reciprocated the hug.
"I'm glad to see you up and walking kid.. though I'm a bit confused. How? How are you up right now.. your brothers tried everything to wake ya." Bobby asked as he pulled away.
Lillian put her hand up to stop him from asking any questions, "how I'm awake doesn't really matter right now honestly. We can go into details later. Just be glad I'm all there" she gestured towards her noggin. She quickly moved more into the living room and got comfortable on Bobby's couch. Holding her hands in her lap while tapping her foot she continued, "I don't know where my brothers are. Someone's gotta update me on what happened while I was out. Also how long I was out for.."
Bobby sighed and left the room for the kitchen. Lillian lifted her head to try to listen in on what he was doing and why he abruptly left the room. He soon emerged back into the room with two glasses and a bottle of whiskey in hand. Pulling up a chair in front of her, he sat down and poured her a glass.
"You're gonna want to be drinking for this."
Her eyes widened at him. How bad could it be? Castiel said Lucifer has risen but my brothers aren't involved in that stuff. Are they? Maybe I should contact my dad he would obviously know about this but he never spoke of anything pertaining family. Will he even answer this time?
Lillian grabbed her glass and gulped it down quickly. She squeezed her eyes shut as the sting of alcohol went down her throat. Nodding to Bobby she said "Go on, hit me. Whatever has happened I'm sure it can't be that bad."
Over next two hours Bobby relayed all the events that had taken place while Lillian was incapacitated. She definitely had more alcohol in her system has he told her one event after the next. As Bobby was about to start a new sentence his phone started ringing.
Lillian zoned out a good bit of the one sided conversation she heard from Bobby on the phone until he pushed it towards her. "It's Dean" he urged her to take it from him.
Her eyes lit up. It felt like it had been forever since they last spoke. She quickly grabbed the phone and pressed it to her ear. "Hello?"
"Lily!" Dean said in a loud sigh of relief. "You have no idea how good it is to hear your voice. Tell me sis, how are you feeling?"
"I feel okay Dean. Are you guys okay? Bobby updated me on most of the stuff that happened while I was out."
"We.. We're managing" Dean got silent for a moment. "Some fucked shit might come up soon Lil. Something bad happened that we have to fix… we gotta figure out how though. Bobby is gonna come meet up with Sam and I to help us with something. I gave him a recipe for hex bags. No demon or angel will be able to find you. So you will be safe while you stay at Bobby's."
"Hold on- You don't want me coming?" Lillian's voice had an edge to it as she spoke.
Dean let a sigh out in frustration, "it's not that we don't want you to come Lily. It's for your saftey. We just got you back, this mess we got into is more dangerous than you've been involved with before."
"I'm not a piece of glass Dean, I'm perfectly capable of handling myself" she said angrily. Who is he to tell her what she can and can't get involved with? Even if it's out of concern, that's unfair. Her brothers will get hurt and then go back out on a hunt the next day. What's the difference if she does?
"Just this one time please?" Deans voice got quieter now. "I know you want to get back to normal and see us, but can you do this for me. It'll ease your big bros mind. I'll even owe you one if you want."
Dean sounded really worried. It was as if she was so fragile, she would break if she stepped out of the house. Though she didn't like hearing her brother begging. "Yeah, okay…"
"Thank you Lil."
"Hey is um.. is Sam there by any chance?" Lillian felt awkward asking considering how her last encounter with her brother wasn't the fondest one.
There was mumbled aggressive whispers before she heard the phone shuffle and Dean spoke again "He's uh, he's out getting grub right now. Sorry, I'll tell him to call you when he gets back." She nodded "Okay." Lillian wasn't stupid. She knew Sam didn't want to speak to her and Dean was covering for him. She can't believe that after the amount of time she was in a coma Sam was still acting this way.
"I'll call you if anything happens alright? And you better call me for the same." Dean said as he was wrapping up their talk.
"Got it."
"Stay safe sis" Dean let her go as he hung up.
"Bye Dean." She flipped the phone close.
Bobby turned towards Lillian. He was moving around the house gathering things and getting ready to head off to her brothers. "The house is hexed. I got everything together now. You alright if I leave now?"
"Yeah I'm good Bobby, thank you" she smiled at him. He grabbed his bag and made his way out the door. Lillian followed behind him to send him off. She waved goodbye as he left and closed the door behind him. Once he was gone she locked the doors and made her way back upstairs to her room.
She remade her bed all nice and tidy then laid on top of the blankets. Her head rested on top of the fluffy pillows as her hands folded over her stomach. She stared up at the ceiling as she was lost in her thoughts. She wondered if this is how she laid almost lifeless the entire time she was stuck in this room in a coma.
Staring intently at the ceiling she focused on her body. Something was different. She's different. Shouldn't she feel sick? Or at least a little ill considering the situation. She doesn't feel hungry anymore. Though she does feel stronger. It's like she feels like herself again. Her angelic self.
Lillian abruptly sat forward and looked around the room. She was trying to make sense of why she felt such a surge of power. Is my grace unlocked? Could my dad have visited me while I was asleep and freed it?
Standing from the bed now she figured the only way to know was if she tested it. So closing her eyes, she imagined herself downstairs in the living room. After a very quick breeze on her face with a flutter of her own wings, she opened her eyes and there she stood in the living room. Lillian couldn't stop the corners of her mouth from tugging into a smile. She was herself again.
Sitting on the couch happily, she bounced her leg to a joyous beat her in head. Lillian decided it was time to try to reach out to her father.
"Dad, I don't know if you are listening. You weren't the last few times I guess. I have my grace back. I don't know if I have you to thank for that or not. There's a lot of things going on that I feel it would be really beneficial if you were around for… Like yknow you're brothers destroying the earth?" She mumbled the last sentence bitterly. "If I could see you again that would be nice. I miss you dad. I'm not mad at you anymore, I mean not that much really. Anyways, yeah that's all I wanted to say." Lillian finished her prayer as she looked around the room like he could pop in any moment.
Later that night Lillian was ecstatic to go to sleep. The entire day after Bobby left felt boring. There was no one around and not a lot to do. She was excited to sleep and talk to the man in her dreams again.
Before she got settled in bed, she changed into pajamas, which were shorts and a tank top. Then she lowered herself into bed and settled between the cool sheets. She found her bed to feel more comfortable than most nights but she found difficulty getting to sleep. After about an hour of tossing and turning in annoyance, she eventually forced her active mind to sleep.
Eventually, a few hours later Lillian's sleep was interrupted and she was woken up. Sitting up she let out a frustrated sigh and got up out of bed to open a window and let cool air in. She stared out into the night when she noticed frost started to form around the glass of the window. Lillian moved the window down to shut it and inspected the frost by brushing her finger across it. It was just like a window frozen from a snow day.
As Lillian pulled back her finger she realized the total temperature of the room dropped. She could see her breath in the air now. Most people would feel fear in this moment or confusion. Hunters would assume it's a ghost. Though Lillian could feel a presence behind her and she could recognize the drunk feeling she got around them. This time it was more than ever. On a level she couldn't describe.
She turned around and a man was in front of her bed. It was the man. The one from her dreams. She could see his beautiful grace and being behind the vessel he was wearing. Whoever he possessed was much taller than her, he had striking blue eyes and blonde hair. He was handsome, it suited him.
"You're here?" Lillian was the first to speak.
"I am. I've been freed from my imprisonment" he confirmed. She took a step forward in his direction. He slowly closed his eyes as he let out a slow breath. "How are you here? The house is warded against angels" she asked.
He shrugged, "I just looked for you." It was his turn to step forward now. With his legs significantly longer, he was inches away now. He reached up and cupped her cheek, she leaned into his touch. "We have to say goodbye now."
"What? What do you mean?!" Lillian's voice raised. She pulled his hand from her face and grabbed it in hers as an effort to keep him with her.
"I have important work to do now and I can't have any distractions." He gave her a look of pity as his other hand brushed a strand of hair from her face. "You need to forget about me." He can't be distracted by stupid human like feelings if he's going to carry out his destiny by defeating his brother and revamp the world in his own image.
She felt herself tear up and she gripped him tighter, "I could never forget about you. I don't want to."
"But you have to and you will."
She felt the tears in her eyes well up even more now. He turned his head away as he brought two fingers to her forehead. He mumbled something in the process of erasing all memories of him from her mind. As soon as it was over he was gone instantly.
Lillian stood there for a second before she brought her hands up to her face and felt the wetness of tears trickle down. "Why is my face wet? Am I crying?" She asked herself out loud. Unsure of the random burst of emotions she went over and reopened the window. Shrugging off the odd occurrence for the night, she went into bed and headed back to sleep for the night.
