chapter 23

"What are you hiding Lillian?"

Dean's voice harshly questioning Lillian keeps replaying in her mind. She panicked we he asked her and denied everything. He sounded so angry and harsh. Paranoid she fled and left to go in hiding from her brothers. Lillian isn't ready for them to know who she is yet. From the sound of Dean's tone, if he knows, she fears what they would do. Would they abandon her? Would they no longer see her as family? Would they hunt her too?

Lillian is holed up in a small town in Alaska. She figures for the moment she doesn't see Dean driving up there for any cases. Plus she always found the location beautiful. If any of her brothers by coincidence are nearby then she can easily just fly away.

She hasn't been hunting since she had separated from Dean. Her mind had been too distracted with the recent events that had occurred. Though if there was a case to just so happen appear locally, she would not be a bystander to it.

Currently Lillian is sporting her black leather jacket with a dark green flannel unbuttoned and displaying a black tank top underneath. With that she has on dark grey jeans and black snow boots. She's walking through a snowy field taking in the landscape before her. Every so often looking down at the footprints her boots make below her in the snow. Her hair is down and blowing in her face with the wind but she doesn't mind.

It's a cold day but suddenly the temperature felt as if it had dropped drastically. A second set of crunching steps in the snow could be heard beside her and Lillian turned to see Lucifer walking beside her.

"How are you always able to find me?" Lillian looked up at him questioning.

"What do you mean?" Lucifer looked at the ground as he spoke.

"I have Enochian symbols carved into my ribs that prevent any angel from being able to find me. Even you."

He shrugged. "I can sense you. Like a pull. If I focus then I can find you."

She thought for a moment. "I- I think I have the same feeling with you. The pull where I can find you." She spoke softly.

He looked up at her intrigued. "Why do you think that? What do you feel?" He stopped walking and looked into her green orbs.

Feeling shy all of a sudden she looked anywhere but him. He continued to look into her eyes as she spoke. "When we first met that's how I found you. I felt that pull. Though I never sought you out again because I don't know what you are doing when I'm not there. I let you come to me."

He nodded in response. Frankly he was glad she didn't just pop in on him. With his planning for the apocalypse who knows what she could've walked in on. Plus he's Lucifer.. he's surprised she is accepting of him now. If she walked in on him torturing someone then who knows how she would view him after that.

"Let's test something" Lucifer smiled at her.

"What?"

He smiled down at her, "Find me."

Before she could speak again he was gone. She sighed and looked out at the snowy field. Turning her head she looked at a cluster of pine trees in a small snowy forrest ahead.

Lillian closed her eyes and focused. She thought about Lucifer and Lucifer only. Where he could be and this almost invisible like thread connecting them. She felt a slight pull in her mind and flew to wherever she thought it was taking her. When she opened her eyes again she was surrounded by pine trees and Lucifer was no where to be found.

She huffed angrily and closed her eyes again. The pull came to her easier this time. The feeling was almost natural for her. She let her mind take her to a new destination. Once her feet met new ground she opened her eyes and she saw trees yet again but different ones. Lucifer was still no where to be seen. Then she heard giggling…

About 10ft away hiding behind a huge trunk of a pine tree was Lucifer. Lillian followed the sound, stomping towards him.

"You think this is funny?" She yelled out at him.

"I think it's hilarious!" He had tears in his eyes.

She showed no emotion on her face as she looked up at him watching him try to compose himself. "C'mon! You should've seen your face, when you're all angry, you do this cute frustrated little face."

"You're a child." She deadpanned.

"Oh whatever, you did it though? Got better?" he asked.

"You want me to be better at this? Randomly show up at your doorstep?"

He started chewing his thumb realizing he hadn't thought everything through. Lillian sighed and walked up to him. She grabbed the collar of his faded green over shirt and adjusted it looking up at him. "I'm not going to show up at your doorstep, you don't have to worry. Besides you have other things to worry about."

He looked down at her confused. He didn't want her to stop what he was doing. Lucifer enjoyed the feeling of contact. The way her hands felt against him. Her delicate fingers smoothing out his shirt. He shouldn't feel this way but he loved her hands on his body. He rarely gets the feeling of her touch anymore.

"Worry about what?" he asked through the trance of her touch.

"Being it." She said as she quickly pulled her hands away from him and tapped him. With that she disappeared out of his sight. It took Lucifer a few moments to realize that Lillian had evoked a game of tag on him. Who's the child now?

After a long game of cat and mouse. Lucifer finally caught Lillian. Every time he was about to she would run off and fly away or she find a very good hiding place. Even use some tricks he had taught her. Ever since she had come out to Alaska Lucifer had taught Lillian more and more things and she's now using it against him.

Though when he caught her he grabbed her around the waist and he yelled out in triumph. He threw her down in the snow, falling down with her. They both laid there together and stared up at the grey sky in silence.

Lillian turned to her side and faced Lucifer. She stared at his side profile as he looked up. She pondered whether or not to speak up what she wants to say.

"What?" Lucifer says.

"What do you mean what?" Lillian said in an accusatory tone.

"You want to say something." He looked over at her from the corner of his eye.

"How would you know?"

He turned over to face her and looked at her with a don't bullshit me look.

Lillian sighed and looked down at the snow. "Okay yeah you got me." She turned over to lay on her back, facing the sky again. Lucifer continued looking at her, enjoying his view.

"Do you know if there is any way to avoid Sam being your vessel?" She asked.

"Sam is my true vessel Lillian. I need him to say yes to win against my brother." Lucifer spoke without changing his tone or looking away from her, though he was annoyed with repeating himself.

"I know you keep saying that. What I'm trying to ask is that if there is a way to have someone else as your permanent vessel? A spell or ritual?" She asked.

"That knowledge is beyond me." He informed her. She let out a heavy breath in disappointment. Lillian turned towards Lucifer to face him again. "I know I sound stupid to you asking all these questions. I know I'm annoying you."

She shifted to get more comfortable leaning her head on her arm as she looked into his blue eyes as she spoke. "What about this vessel? It seems to be faring well so far?" From what Lillian can see the person Lucifer is possessing doesn't seem to be falling apart yet. His eyes look heavy as if he hadn't slept in a long time and his skin looks slightly discolored but he looks for the most part put together.

"This is only temporary. I consume gallons of demon blood so this vessel can contain me. This vessel will combust sooner or later."

Lillian gave Lucifer a hard look. She grabbed his hand and held him as she looked up at him seriously. "If I can find a way to make this vessel yours permanently, will you promise me to leave my brother alone?"

Lucifer thought for a moment. He saw how sure she was and the determination on her face. The grip on his hand filled with passion loosened a bit as he hesitated his answer. He could disagree but he knew she would never be able to succeed so why not entertain her little plan. Lucifer gripped her hand back and responded "Fine."

A light blush colored her cheeks when he grasped her hand. He enjoyed seeing the power he had over her emotions. Even with little things such as that. "Thank you" she spoke shyly.

She got quiet again. They were still hand in hand. Looking at one another. Eventually Lillian spoke up once again, poking the bear. "Do you truly want to fight your brother?"

Lucifer squinted at her. He wasn't expecting this question from her. "It doesn't matter what I really want. This is a proph-"

She cut him off. "That's not what I asked. I want to know what you want."

He pulled his hand away from her and turned away to lay flat on his back. Lillian followed doing the same. "I don't want to fight Michael. He's my older brother. As much as we have differences, as big as they are I don't want to kill him."

"Then why are you?" Lillian asked sitting up and looking down at him. She brushed the snow out of her hair with her fingers as he spoke.

"It's a prophecy. It's supposed to happen. This is supposed to be what makes dad comes back. This has to happen."

She tilted her head at him and gave him a look of sympathy. Treading water she spoke "Have you ever thought that maybe he doesn't care?" Lucifer snapped his head at her. She put her head up at him to let her finish. "You have fallen. Rebelled. I would think you have a more open mindset to have these kinds of thoughts for an angel who has fallen. Have you ever thought that God isn't paying attention anymore? I mean think about it… Did he personally say that this fight had to happen? Who said it would make him come back?"

Lucifer was sitting up now glaring at her with red eyes. He felt like she was trying to provoke him. "This is what is meant to happen Lillian. There is no changing it."

"By whose decree!" She cried out. "You don't want to kill your brother. Then don't! You haven't been working under heavens order for many millennia yet it still looks like you are."

He held his finger angrily out towards her standing up. "Don't"

Lillian stood up, she pushed his hand away. Placing her hand on his chest, she wanted him to listen to her. Really listen. They were inches apart now. She didn't fear him, even when he was angry. She looked up at him into his eyes. "Lucifer, I've thought about it. You can win without killing him if you truly wish to continue with this nonsense."

He stared down at her at her. He took in her warmth and closeness. His red eyes turned back to their brilliant blue as he listened. She continued "Is the cage you were freed from still around?"

"Yes, why?"

"Why not just trap Michael in it?"

He looked at her. Surprised she could come up with something so grotesque. He really doesn't want to kill his brother but it would be ironic to have roles reversed and see him trapped in hell. A grinch like smile etched on his face. She couldn't help a smile creep up on her face back at him as she nodded "Is that a yes?"

"I know what you are thinking and I'll think about it." He nodded at her.

"Thank you." Lillian is so pleased that Lucifer is considering this. If he doesn't fight Michael then that saves the planet from one giant catastrophic event. Without thinking she reached her arms around his waist and leaned her head against his chest hugging him. Lucifer hesitated, not used to receiving affection, but the feeling and the touch of this nephilim in front of him was otherworldly. He wrapped his arms around her. Resting his face onto the top of her head he took in her vanilla scent.

Lillian didn't want to pull away. She's drunk from his touch. Though she did. Still in his arms she pulled away enough to look at him. Placing a hand on his face looking at every detail taking him in. He did the same as she watched his eyes scan her face. Suddenly as if her body had a mind of its own, she leaned in and placed a kiss on his lips. It was a soft chaste kiss that was only a few seconds.

As soon as she pulled away she realized what she had done and covered her face in embarrassment. Taking a few steps away from him she apologized profusely. "I'm so sorry! I don't know why I did that." She honestly couldn't help herself anymore.

Lucifer didn't know what to say. He was a little stunned. A bit disgusted. Though a small little piece of him wanted it again, to try to further the kiss, and he was beating himself up for it. He should not feel things like this. That's disgusting. Human filth. He just stared at her with his hands now in his pockets.

"I'm sorry! I'm just- I'm gonna go!" Lillian left abruptly. She flew away and found herself back in her motel room. She sat down on her bed and slapped herself for doing something so stupid.

After a long shower trying to cope with the embarrassment and figure out how she will ever speak to Lucifer again. Lillian pulled out her cell phone. She saw all the missed calls and texts from Dean. The many days Lillian has been gone Dean has nonstop been trying to get in contact with his sister and she had been ignoring him. Avoidance was one of her worst qualities but one of the things she was best at. Though it was finally time to face her brother again. Dialing his number she called him. When she heard the line pick up she spoke into the phone first.

"We should talk."
