Chapter 15

Frisk could not believe the words that he just heard. He wondered if he misheard what Alphys just said. One look at Toriel's horrified face convinced him that he did not mishear what Alphys just said earlier. "Neither a monster nor human." These words lingered in Frisk's mind as he tried his best to comprehend it. It was too much for him to take in at once. A while ago, he did not believe that even monsters existed, now he just learned that another race other than humans might exist, but he could not believe it.

"What are you talking about, Alphys? There are no other races besides monsters and humans. We've been over this before!" Toriel said as she struggled to get rid of her fear.

"B-but… Whatever b-broke the s-seal is n-neither a human nor a monster. Th-there's no monster nor a human that can break the seal in-in the U-Underground." Alphys said as she struggled to hide her fear as well.

"Don't tell me..."

"Y-yes… I-I-It could b-b-be that thing..."

Toriel fell on her knees and started sobbing as soon as she heard the words come out of Alphys's mouth. Alphys patted Toriel's back, trying her best to calm Toriel down.

"H-h…. How could this… be?" Toriel could barely talk because she was sobbing uncontrollably. "Why...d-didn't S-Sans... Kill it already?"

"H-he did… I… I-I don't know what's happening here… W-we… need to i-investigate it further… B-but… That's the o-only explanation I-I have right now." Alphys explained as she tried her best to calm Toriel down.

Toriel did not say anything more. Frisk felt sorry for Toriel. "Something bad must have happened." Frisk thought as he carefully moved closer to another piece of ruined wall in order to hide behind it.

"I-it's gonna be okay, T-Tori. W-we j-just… need to c-calm down and investigate t-this.." Alphys said, trying her best to calm Toriel down.

Toriel was able to slowly control her sobbing and stood up again, with the help of Alphys. It took a few minutes for Toriel to stop crying completely.

"Thank you…. Alphys…. We need to investigate this even further…. If that… If that thing really is responsible for destroying the seal, then everyone we know is in danger.. We can't let it roam around for long..." Toriel said as she tried her best to keep her fear at bay.

"R-right… W-we need t-to i-investigate this t-t-thoroughly." Alphys said as she finally calmed herself down.

Alphys took a broken part of the seal and examined it carefully. She took out a piece of metal that looked like a smaller version of the seal and held it close to the broken piece of the seal. A yellow-ish smoke flowed from the smaller version of the seal to the broken seal, repairing it slightly. The yellow-ish smoke stopped flowing after a few seconds. Alphys got worried and faced Toriel, who was standing close to her.

"T-t-The d-d-damage i-ss worse t-than I-I thought… " Alphys said as she put the broken part of the seal in her pocket.

"I see… Can it… Can it be fixed?" Toriel asked as she caressed the seal.

"I-I d-don't know.. B-but I-I'll try m-my best to fix it."

"And how much power can it seal now in its current state?"

"W-well… O-outsiders shouldn't be able to use m-most o-o-of their p-power. W-we s-s-should be thankful that the main part of the seal wasn't b-broken."

"We already have a defenseless-" Toriel trailed off as she realized she was revealing too much information.

"H-huh? A d-d-defenseless what?" Alphys asked with curiosity.

"Well… I meant to say that we have some injured monsters over here. So it's a bit dangerous for them because they are defenseless."

"Oh… W-what happened t-to them?"

"Um… They… They got injured while they were training." Toriel lied as she slowly moved her eyes away from Aplhys'.

Toriel hoped that Alphys bought into her lie. Toriel felt ashamed of lying, because she normally would not lie to anyone. She just could not bring herself to trust Alphys fully. And she decided not to reveal anything about Frisk to Alphys.

"Oh… I-I-I s-see.. A-are t-they okay?" Alphys asked as she turned around.

"Yes.. They're not in a life threatening situation.. They… just need a bit of rest.. But they can't use magic too much.." Toriel answered.

"O-Oh, I-I-I see… S-S-So that's why you were w-w-worried. I'll try my best to f-f-finish this as quickly as possible. I just need a bit of time t-t-to analyse what's w-w-wrong. I-I'll t-take t-this to my lab."

Alphys reached for her pockets and took out a piece of metal and handed it to Toriel.

"Use this f-f-f-for now… I-I-It should keep the s-s-seal stable.. I-I'll t-take this t-to m-my lab." Alphys said as she quickly trotted away.

Alphys was coming towards the direction where Frisk was hiding. He was able to fully hide himself behind the ruined piece of wall, without exposing even a small part of himself. He eagerly waited as the trotting lizard monster vanished from his sight. He looked back at Toriel, who was attaching the piece of metal on to the seal.

Toriel was finally able to relax her mind. She had been very scared of spilling any information about Frisk. She knew that if she spilled anything to Alphys, the information would be extracted from her. Toriel could not risk any information about Frisk spilling out.

Frisk slowly followed the path that Alphys took, hoping that he would be able to follow her. He finally managed to find her when he got close to Toriel's house. He saw Alphys entering Toriel's house and followed her as fast as he could. He entered the house as quickly as he could.

There was no sign of anyone in the house. It was like no one had entered the house. Frisk was surprised to see that there was no sign of anyone in the house. He made his way towards the living room and opened the door. There was no sign of anyone in the living room. "Damn it! I can't believe I missed another chance!" Frisk thought. He felt frustrated, because he missed another chance to see how monsters get in and out of the Ruins.

Frisk went outside and looked at the darkening sky. He felt lonely. He wished that Jack and Rachel were there with him. They were the only people he could think about. They were the only people who were kind to him. His aunt was busy most of the time and did not have much time to spend with him. So, he did not have a close connection with his aunt. The only people who were there for him were Jack and Rachel.

Frisk walked in the garden until he found a wooden bench that he could sit on. He contemplated his life as he sat down on the bench. He was absorbed into memories as time passed. It did not take long for him to fall asleep.

"Frisk? Frisk? Wake up." A familiar voice said as Frisk slowly opened his eyes.

"H-Huh?" Frisk opened eyes and looked at the direction where the voice came from.

Flowey was standing right in front of Frisk. Frisk was startled at the sight of Flowey and flinched. Flowey threw a broad smile at Frisk, with his eyes glowing bright red.

Flowey screamed, "YOU SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO TORIEL, YOU IDIOT! YOU'RE GONNA DIE NOW!"

Flowey summoned many huge seed bullets that blocked Frisk's every escape route. Frisk looked around him, and he could not believe the horrific thing that he saw. The dead bodies of Jack, Rachel and all the monsters that he met there were on the ground, covered in blood. He tried to scream, but he could not. He stared at Flowey again. Flowey then sent all the seed bullets towards Frisk. He had no way of dodging so many seed bullets. He was impaled by the seed bullets before long. He did not feel any pain. It was strange. Instead of him dying, the world slowly distorted.

Frisk suddenly woke up, frightened and sweating. He was breathing deeply as he looked around his surroundings. There were no bodies on the ground. Flowey was nowhere to be found. It was night, but the garden lights were on. It was a nightmare that Frisk have never had before. He heard footsteps closing in on him. It was fast, as though whatever that was making the sound was running. When the sound of footsteps were close enough, Frisk glanced at the source of the sound, to find a worried Toriel staring at him.

"Frisk! Are you okay?!" Toriel asked as she came closer to Frisk. "You screamed very loudly just now."
